Does anyone know if the POS that broke into his wifes car and took his personal belongs ever got caught?
Rip Brad.
@ TIM they did the Colorado police caught up with them.
Going to give this one everything...RIP bro. Glad they caught the guy that broke into his wife's car.
Some other JTACs from 504 EASOG in Afghanistan created a WOD for SrA Smith in May 2010:
For Time:
40 Burpees, 30 Pushups, 20 Pullups, 15 45# dumbbell squat cleans, 20 Pullups, 30 Pushups, 40 Burpees
Mural can be found in the 504 EASOG staff building at Kabul Int'l Airport. Regardless, gotta do this WOD as well. RIP Bradley Smith.
Rock on brad. Heard ur name a lot. Guarantee it we will kill it on this WOD! R.I.P. man

Say hello to our brother Jake Frazier that laid his life down on March 29, 2003 in Afghanistan! This workout is for all the JTAC,s that have given the Ultimate Sacrifice!! Thank You and God Bless your Families!
The 14th ASOS will do this WOD proud. One for SrA Brad Smith...
u will be missed my fellow Airman
A few other ROMAD's and I will be hitting this one tomorrow hard....284th ASOS, Kansas ANG
Another fallen JTAC. The ultimate advocate of Airpower for the warfighter on the ground. You are not forgotten...
RIP Brad, may God bless your soul.
What kind of pullups should you do?
RIP soldier.
This may be a really random question but has anyone noticed an increase in hand/finger size from participating in CrossFit? I have only gained 2 lbs overall (muscle mass) since starting CrossFit, but I put on a ring that I hadn't worn in a year and it no longer fits! I'm wondering if all the gripping exercises and pullups have increased my hand and finger size. Just wondering if others had experienced the same.
Stationed at Riley and served in Zhari with some outstanding 10th ASOS guys in 2011. My thoughts go out to the family. May time heal what words cannot. Never forgotten, Fair winds Hero.

#27 If it's not specified, most people do kipping pullups. But you can do anything that's gets the work done ...
Awesome to see all the ROMADs/JTACs jumping in to comment! Love you brad, miss you bro !

God bless your family from all in the UK brother.
As a fellow ROMAD this one is special.
Rest in peace brother...
RIP Brad! Thank you for your courage, patriotism and ultimate sacrifice as an American Soldier.
I just did something like this the other day. But it was
15 pullups
20 pushups
10 squat jumps
100m sprint (50m sprint there back)
For 5 rounds.
The squat jump to sprint got pretty hard at the end, and sprint there back was hard because 1. you had to stop your momentum and turn back and 2. the way back was always slightly uphill!
Didn't time it, but definately had a good workout

The first two times were for a 150m sprint. After those two I realized it wasn't such a good idea to do that in 100F weather so I just did the 100m after that.
The ROMAD community will never forget your sacrifice. May God be with your family. RIP brother
Pool @ Y is 20yd/18m -- measured it today since no one could agree.
Subbed 18m/20yd swim for sprint, pushups for pullups, so
10rft: 18m swim, 10 pushups, 18m swim, 10 burpees, 30 sec rest
26:49
Going to have to pull/kick harder on all swims -- my 5 x (50m swim + 25 pushups) times are probably 40% low, as I've been swimming 36m not 50m. And I had too much left in tank after this WOD.

@ JuliePlatt from yesterday:
"Any suggestions on how to knock off 3 minutes??" (from a 5k run)
Just my 2 cents-first check to see what factors might be slowing you down--are you running during the hot part of the day, are you running dehydrated, did you fuel enough before the run, etc. Also, if you do the run a day after heavy squats it may affect your time.
Beyond that, what I do is decide on a target time, figure out the 1/2 mile splits for that time (becuase I run on a greenway that has half-mile markers), and then try to keep to the splits. For me, that means dividing the 5k up into 6 parts that are about 3:20 each, plus the little extra for the 0.1 miles (5k=3.1 miles). Having those goals keeps me in line and makes me push myself harder. Don't forget to replenish your glycogen stores by eating lots of carbs in the 2 hours after the run. Also, I don't get too disappointed with a bad time. There are just too many factors that can affect your performance, for you to be worried about one or two bad days. Take the long view, and see if there is a gradual improvement over time. That's my advice, for what it's worth.
I don't know that I agree with the idea that, because you're improving in other movements, that "something has to give." I think you can actually improve in all areas--unless, unless you're an accomplished athlete in some sport who has taken on CF. In that case, yes, you may lose something in your sport due to the improvements in fitness skills that are outside the demands of that sport--like a former marathoner building muscle--it doesn't help with the marathons. Or a former powerlifter working on long slow distance WODS--he/she may lose strength. I'm not an expert or a certified CF instructor, just a guy doing CF long term, so hopefully you'll get advice from other people too.

Great WOD, a fitting tribute to a hero. That was great fun and a genius design, especially the 30 second rests. For those of us training to eliminate transition time between exercises, we could dash to the bars, hit the 10, dash back to the burpees and hit the deck, knowing a rest was coming.
No place to do sprints right now. Any ideas on substitutes? Box jumps a good idea? How many for each 100m sprint ya'll think?

For #107 Luke: it really does not matter, just keep track for comparison if you want to do it again. If it takes you 1 minute to run a 100m, see how many box jumps, step ups, burpess, etc you can do in a minute. Use that number as your rep scheme. I think you get the idea, good luck.

JTAC Forever!
Seemed like a good one to do outdoors. I jogged down to the elementary school (about 1 mile), then did three rounds of the CF warmup (sans pullups).
Midway through the 4th round of burpees, felt that old familiar feeling, and had to run into the woods to vomit. Oh well. We'll try this again sometime.
I had the great honor to play high school football with Brad for 3 years and it is only fitting to have a brutal WOD in his name because he gave everything he had each and every day! As Rx: about 22:30 (this is a guess really - see below for explanation)
I started the first two rounds with the clock and did the first 3 rounds in 1:20, 1:30, 1:32, but then the stopwatch on my wife's iphone stopped becuse it was too hot outside for it, so I started to just kind of count to 30 between rounds.
I was probably going at about 1:45 or so but I have to admit that I probably was taking a little too much rest.. it was HOT out and this WOD hit me fast.
I just laid out on the floor after the last round for like 5 mintues at least.
Fun, and all pullups on Rings, were unbroken. the hard part was hitting the burpees hard at the end each time.
Good WOD to test you mentally and to try to push hard on the runs even though you're tired.
Omg this wod was insane!
Could not breathe from start to finish!
During 7/8 rounds felt a tingly feeling occurring my neck and arms!
Felt like quitting but decided to keep going and finish the last 2/3 rounds

RIP Brad.
Brad and I went to Pathfinder in FT Benning together. About 4 of us from the school got through the litany of testing by using WODs as our stress relief outlet. I remember mainly the back of his plate carrier when he kicked all of our asses at Murph in the football stadium with a bunch of soccer moms looking on in disgust as we all saw Pukie trying to catch him.
I wish I would have known him more, he will be missed.
See you in Valhalla brother.
Thank you CF for honoring this warrior.
