Comment #2 - Posted by: moto mofo at August 9, 2011 5:28 PM

I wonder if the guy on the climb has any time to enjoy the view...

Did those two WOD's earlier today:

OHS 3-3-3-3-3.
125(Old PR)
130(New PR)

5 min break then:

4 Rds of:
Row 500m
Rest 3min

Rd 1: 1:46
Rd 2: 1:42
Rd 3: 1:48
Rd 4: 1:49

Then some self spotted MU work, and some weighted dips and PU. Great workout day!...

Imagine how scared he got when he looked down and discovered his belayer went on strike. (Ya know, 'cause he's in Greece.)

Just a thought, but I would like to see HQ start to post more of those programming videos, where Tony Budding or Pat Sherwood analyzes a week or so of mainsite programming.

I'm still following the WOD's pretty regularly, but I find those videos interesting, educational, and motivational. It seems to remind me that there is method to the madness when they show you exactly why certain workouts precede/follow others, and what each movement is designed to improve.

24 / M / 5'9" / 135lbs

First day back after taking time off with a tweaked shoulder. I was too lazy to keep up with the site by doing one-arm workouts and so on, so tonight was pretty rough.

5 Handstand push-ups
15 Wall ball shots, 12lb ball
25 Toes-to-bar
35 Power cleans, 95 pounds
45 Burpees
55 Sumo deadlift high-pull, 55 pounds

Great place, great pic, great CrossFit application in other sports. I'd love to see it in the games next year. High ball bouldering over water.

Can someone please delete my account from the Crossfit forums? I've sent multiple private messages and emails but have gotten no response.

@ #10, Try to change your profile settings to stop getting reply notifications from previous posts. Not only that, why would you want to stop learning about CF? Just seems like you are taking a step in the wrong direction. Is there a reason you want to stop getting notifications?

@ main post: The article by Anil was perfect. It is so true that owners must take a personal responsibility for the content. I don't personally review every comment to my blog but I do make a concious effort to monitor and step in where needed. I think it also helps to just ask for some consideration and mutual respect from one another.

Tonight at 10pm eastern time zone on the Discovery channel the show One Man Army will have CF Affiliate co owner of CrossFit Trident and former US Navy SEAL Chriss Smith competing.

Chriss is an incredible coach and athlete. If you can tune in to cheer on one of our own.

+1 on Sean Jacobs comment.

I really like understanding the method behind the madness. Those videos are great. At least post them in the journal.

I've been doing CF for 2 years, and, for some reason, I have no idea; today my arms are super-sore, I think because I subbed sumo dl hps for the row the other day.

Anyway, does anyone have an idea of anything I can eat or drink to get rid of the soreness?

Comment #16 - Posted by: mike2278 at August 10, 2011 7:48 AM

agree with the internet article.
Shane, if you want out of the message boards, just stop posting. Are you worried about people digging through your old posts??

Comment #17 - Posted by: Ian at August 10, 2011 7:57 AM

Been doing CF for about a month now. Finally did Karen today. 25# med ball (only one I have).

Comment #18 - Posted by: Moe at August 10, 2011 8:05 AM

#18 Ian, not worried at all as I have nothing to hide. But if they're going to ban me for polite disagreement then I want my name removed like everyone else on the boards who has been banned for polite disagreement after years of contributions.

Very awesome article. He tells it like it is. This site has had its issues with those kinds of people. How many of you remember the rabid, fundamentalist Christian who vowed to take CrossFit down over some allegedly pornographic photo on that day's post? But then again, that sort of thing adds humor. I think the webmaster here does a pretty nice job of screening out the rude, inconsiderate, destructive, mindless negative comments while allowing those that are, let's say, opinionated or disputatious but not necessarily mean. It must be a hard juggling act.

Thankful for the rest day...overhead squats suck!!

On my soapbox:

I just wanted to say something about the coverage of the recent action in Afghanistan. I'm a 16 year AF MSgt and have spent years working with special ops personnel from all services. There were three AF Combat Controllers that were killed when that helicopter was shot down. Their sacrifice has been overshadowed by the Navy SEALs that were also killed. I have much respect for those SEALs and their sacrifice!! I'm not writing this to diminish their service, I just wanted to highlight the Airmen that were also killed in the line of duty. Combat Controllers are cream of the crop. God Speed fellas. We won't forget your sacrifice or your service.

Off my soapbox...

Comment #23 - Posted by: Justin at August 10, 2011 11:19 AM

Today I made up my own wod to honor the 30 men lost in Afghanistan. I'm sure there will be a hero workout dedicated to them in the future, but I felt compelled to do something today.

Run 800
30 kettlebell swings 1 pood
30 toes to bar
30 glute ham situps
30 back extensions
30 double unders
30 push ups
Run 800

Appropriately, the song playing in my ears as I finished the final run was "The Best" by: Tina Turner.
"You're simply the best.
Better than all the rest.
Better than anyone.
Anyone I've ever met."

Here's to the best.

20 double unders
