Think I found my WOD for tomorrow!
Any way to get those yellow reebok shoes?!!!
Love the Ayn Rand quotes. Keep them coming.
WOD looks awesome. Thanks to everyone who posts on here and tries to help with questions and motivation. I've been doing croosfit for about 7 months and have lost 40 lbs. So thank you to everyone for all the help andmotivation.

30 Toes-to-bar
40 Power cleans, 135 pounds
50 Burpees
60 Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds
Subbs Toe to bar done on rings
I had to strip weight from the 135 to make the 75 for the sumos
HSPUS unbroken
Wall ball unbroken
toe to ''rings'' unbroken
power cleans broken all sets of 5 I think No less then 5 but to long of breaks.
burpees slow but steady brok and 35, but like I said they were NOT fast so
Sumos 10/5/5/10/12/8
It was good, but I need to get the oly lifts faster, ALOT faster. Looks like I need to get back on the oly lifts and skip the squats a bit. I hate to do it. Oh and I'll be glad to be done with the games workouts. I'm not really intrested in the this year.
I forgot to post my time on it. oops!

You posted pics of Froning and Annie... how about the Masters? Let's hear more about those firebreathers!

I'm struggling with HSPU. What is a good way to strengthen your shoulders for that???
#9 jesus - more HSPUs!...partial depth if necessary. also handstand walk or "wall walks".
Give Us This Day Our Daily WOD...
I've never understood why the main site is so politically conservative in its quotes and articles.
... and forgive us our missed reps...

That has to be one of the biggest lies that the liberal west has told itself and tries to tell the world. Try telling that to the little girl in a slum in Calcutta.
Used this workout to practice movements and didn't want to exhaust myself too much today, so it took me 55:24. Used the 75lbs for my power cleans as well since I never did this movement before and wanted to start low. Also substituted dumbbell thrusters for the wall ball shots.
Handstand pushups: Elevated my head for 11cm and started with a headstand to push from there (against a wall). First I only made 1 rep and fell to the ground again, but in the end I increased my hand width and made 3 of this partial reps in a row to complete the 10. Huge success for me :).
Power cleans are still bad, but I'm working on it. No problem with 75lbs of course, but going heavier would become a problem.
Rest was relatively slow, but I sweated so much that it felt pretty good!
Need some help. Want to buy a rope so I can complete WODs like the video shown today. Any advice. Dont want to chew my hands too bad nor rip my legs to shreads. Rogue has manila ropes is that my best bet or is there something else you guys like? Thanks!
Did a scaled Fran, 65 pound thruster and an inverted row 10:50
Went up 10 pounds on the thruster from June 14th and shaved 3:14 to boot!
I'm fighting thru a case of climber's elbow and pullups are too much of a strain on it.

I wish you would balance the Rand quotes with a little bit of facts, like the U.S, Great Britain & Italy have the worst rates of upward mobility in the industrialized world. In fact, most of the countries surpassing us would be considered socialist, weird that doesn't come up.

Manila is the way to go. Because it's a twisted braid, it provides more texture (better grip) than say, a nylon braided rope.
I'm in the military and I was always a good rope climber, but I remember one year, they changed the rope in our obstacle course from manila to a nylon braided rope, and it was extrememly difficult to climb because it was so smooth and straight in texture, so I recommend manila,2-2.5 inch diameter. I never shredded my hands on manila, and I never wore any gloves. The only thing you want to be careful with is to come down under control, or else you're in for a rope burn, and that's with manila or nylon. Hope this helps...
DIET COKE!??!?! How dare you Pat Sherwood?! How dare you!? : )
14:55
try doin power cleans in sets of five instead of 3 then 2
even 10 sets of 4 yea do that
10 HSPU
20 WB
30 T2B
40 P/C (sub 95#)
50 Burpees
60 SDHP (sub 60 cal row)
12:34. In hindsight, i should've gone with 115# for P/C, but I've had 2 back surgeries, so I'm not trying for a triplet ;)
I liked the Pat Sherwood piece but what the heck is with the Diet Coke!?? Why bother eating well when you have a concoction of chemicals and bad fake sugars chasing it all down?
Diet Coke has to be one of the worst things you could ever put in your body.
@31
At my cert pat mentioned the diet coke. He said that he will do everything right but you could pry diet coke from his could dead hands. If he doesn't have it he will fail in other areas of diet. It's what works for him. Believe me, after watching him workout. It's working to.
Do what you have to do to reAch optimal performance for you. If that means perfect diet but you need diet coke then it's a pretty good compromise.
This looks like a WOD that we might get inverted in the near future. Like, for time:
60 Handstand push-ups
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball to 10' target
40 Toes-to-bar
30 Power cleans, 135 pounds
20 Burpees
10 Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds
My birthday workout:

For time:
10 Handstand push-ups
20 Dumbbells thrusters, 22 pound each
30 Toes-to-bar
40 Power cleans, 135 pounds
50 Burpees
60 Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds
18:52
Pull-up bar was to close to wall for kipping T2B.
21:34 as rx'd. Very impressed with the masters' times.
at #32, I was making light of the Diet Coke in my original post, but felt compelled to comment after reading your "compromise" defense for Pat Sherwood. Using your rationale, one could justify smoking, taking PEDs, etc. I'm simply stating that it's always a slippery slope when one attempts to justify one's bad habits by trotting out all one's good habits.
Either way, I was making a joke. Drink your Diet Coke Pat Sherwood and be happy!
14:03 with 115pound cleans

16 lbs D-Ball, otherwise as Rx'd
PC's took forever; 135 lbs is more than my bodyweight and I was using metal plates in a regular gym so couldn't touch-and-go.
Sunday musings…
1) Time. “Keep the rally going and you defeat time.” Roger Angell.
2) Travel. Once again I was blown away by the generosity of the Crossfit community and Crossfit Affiliate owners. “The Heir”, Lil’bingo, and I were the guests of Mark and Crossfit Cape Cod for a vacation WOD on Thursday. As always we identified ourselves as experienced Crossfitters, but as the call was made by “The Heir”, we were NOT identified as Clan bingo. We were welcomed as old friends and without asking given a discount on the drop-in rate. Classy and classic.
I travel a bit, and I like to visit Crossfit gyms when I do. I always ask to pay, and I always ask if I will make a class too crowded. Even before identifying myself I am always welcomed and rarely asked for the drop-in fee. Talking with other Crossfitters this seems to be the norm.
We are a generous, tightly knit lot, we Crossfitters. We assume goodwill on the part of our CF brethren. In general Crossfit brings out more of our good qualities than our less than good. Heartfelt thanks once again to Mark, his bride, and the good people of Crossfit Cape Cod for another great CF experience!
3) First up. Where are you on the birth order in your family? Mrs. bingo and I are both first born. If you have children where do they lie in the birth order of the grandchildren? Again, our first two are the first of 10. It’s almost a cartoon, a caricature, how similar our experience is probably to any of yours who share this seemingly trivial trait.
Your parents got you fully assembled without an owner’s manual. Your were their grand experiment. It was a “Goldilocks” process for them, too. You know, too strict, too loose, just right. They got all kinds of “help” raising you, too. Lots of folks are pretty darned sure of how you should do this kid raising thing until they find themselves drowning in the process themselves.
Here’s the deal: “I told you so” is possibly the cruelest blow you could ever rain down on all of your “advisors” when they find themselves awash in the ebb and flow of their own parenting chores. It’s just as hard for them as it was for you, of that you can be sure. If you’ve done a pretty good job with your progeny simply hope all of those helpful color commentators were paying attention.
Be kind.
4) Want/need. Again. Up and down the fortunes go. Some stay inexorably above the “want” threshold, while for others there are dips into the realm of need. Me? Flip-flopping like a fish on the deck, up and down across the divide. How’s that going? Pretty well, actually.
It’s instructive to watch others as they struggle with this. Instructive, but also sometimes quite painful. A series of mishaps or setbacks can leave the heretofore comfortable in a ragged state of shock, so close to the “need” level that it feels as if “need” isn’t being met. The reality is that almost all of us are actually quite far removed from the real “need” threshold, but that doesn’t make the vector of the movement any less traumatic.
Some of this is reflective of expectations, what our folks would have called “counting your chickens before they’re hatched.” The bonus or raise or promotion didn’t come. That 100 member milestone is still out there on the horizon, too many months after the proforma said it would make landfall. It’s the “lottery syndrome”: we spend today as if it were already the tomorrow we are hoping to live.
Be clear-eyed in evaluating your status. Only kid yourself for fun. Want what you have. Enjoy what you have. Mrs. bingo has beaten this into me, on the way up, and also on the way down, and she’s always been right.
I’ve always had enough.
I’ll see you next week…
I was one of the lucky masters who did this wod at the games....awesome. Don't think it would be as good inverted! comment #35. A totally different experience. Did mine in 17min @ the games. A fabulous way to end day 2!!!

As Rx: 17:01 (active rest).
C/D: skipped.
Controlled drop on PCs (no bumpers). Today, active rest just meant I would either back off or take a few breaths instead of pushing through red zones. Hit a lot of those red zones during the PCs.
Lately I've been wondering how adding body weight may impact my performance of the WOD. I've been at around 170# for several years. And although I continue to set new PRs, I wonder if I would see more progress or feel generally better by eating more. So I've set a goal to hit 180# by November 1. My wife says I already eat a lot and that my diet is too clean to ever gain weight. So we have a bet. That bet and this post will give me even more motivation to hit my goal.
had to do some subs:
20 inclined pushups
20 40lb DB thrusters
15 toes to bar (then shoulder started to hurt, so...)

Love the Ayn Rand quote! The only people who would whine about such a thing are those who carry with them a victim mentality. http://www.riflewarrior.com/history.html
Great WOD. Took me forever. 28:46

@CrossCrazy
Interesting post about the OECD's ranking of the US as a low upward mobility nation. Personally I don't believe it as the son of a man who grew up in a family of no discretionary income and who, today, gives away more in charity than I make in a year. (His kids are not charity cases, mind you, but I'm on my own anyway.) Also, the OECD is notoriously political in it's rankings.
I think the fact that the OECD uses education vs. father's education is a pretty shaky proxy for upward mobility potential. I have the same education level as my dad, but even with a master's I likely won't make as much as he does. Also we have lots of rich people with what the OECD would consider insufficient education (eg Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, pro athletes etc.).
America is a nation of outliers and that's what makes it great. Even our homeless people have it better off in America than "the little girl in a slum in Calcutta." Unfortunately most of our homeless are also mentally disabled and truly deserve our help unlike fully capable people who leech off the social welfare system.

I was pretty sick. I have been trying to shake this thing. When I got home my body was aching sooo badly. I thought a WOD, get a real nice sweet going, then I'd feel better.. WRONG.. I was drained and I got shivers, and my whole bidy was aching.
I threw through the first 3 events, but the power cleans took me a while.. I was not in it mentally as I had to strip the bar and then reload it, so I milked it and did that between sets of 10 Burpees. I just wasn't pushing as hard as normal and I was feeling more than normal. for me 40 power cleans at over bodyweight was a bit tough.. more my grip that goes so I was doing sets of 4 or 5. The SDHPs felt light and I should have done them in sets of 15, but did them in sets of 10.
This was a lot slower than I thought I would do this, but I also was pretty sick and I'm o.k. with it. I am just glad I was able to do it at a somewhat decent pace and just get it done with.

1st workout in weeks after TDY and had to move HHGs across town--beat
This WOD was a true ass kicker.
I subbed standard dead-lift for SDHP. Still trying to get that concept down. Completed this in 17:50.. I'm still taking to many breaks and lost some time transitioning the bar from the cleans to the dead-lift. However, I'm making the transition from P90X to CrossFit and so far so good.

Wow....
A bit of an experiment. Sorta. My wife told me I'm not as big as I used to be (pre crossfit). Of course at the time I was crushed since no old guy wants to hear that the shrivel factor is upon him. So I thought heck, I'll through some bodybuilding workouts in and reduce the crossfit WODs to one per week. I've learned two things: 1) there's no doubt that Crossfit makes you stronger and 2) without crossfit met con work the endurance drops. I can't explain why mass falls in spite of strength gains; someone smarter than me needs to answer that. So for kicks, I'm going to keep tweaking things. I got bored doing just body building type workouts but found I enjoyed them since I haven't done any for about 3 years. Maybe one BB workout a week? I know there's crossfit football but that's too demanding.
Bad ass workout! Still taking too many breaks by the time I get to burpees and my forearms were shot with 60 reps, so they were broken sets. Yet still proud it was as rx'd # and reps!

Cleans didn't feel too bad. Seemed like legs back pretty well on 1st pull, but not perfect. Hip ext seemed decent. Bar touching thighs on way up most times. Pace of last 3 exercises pretty bad. Way too broken. Cleans mostly 4's. Burpees 7-10. SDHP 10.

20 Wall ball shots, 15 pound ball to 10' target

40 Power cleans, 95 pounds
50 Burpees
60 Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds

17:27(115#). Thanks again to CFIT Purgatory for letting me work out with them - glad to have a reason to revisit and better my time on this WOD.
As rx'd, 14:52.
Just as predicted, this was 3 relatively easy exercises followed by 3 brutal ones. HSPUs unbroken, done at 20 seconds, wall balls unbroken, done by 1 minute. Got 20 T2B before breaking - finished at 3 minutes. The next movements took me ~4 minutes each. I pride myself on my power cleans, but these humbled me (10-10-5-5-5-5). Did burpees in two sets of 25 - second set had some breaks in it. SDHPs weren't as bad as predicted. Got the first 20 then mini-sets of 10 and 5 until completion. My back is smoked from all the pulling - but seriously, it seems like every movement in this has some lat or mid-back in it. Dang.
