I say the video was a "rep."

Interesting piece about the blogs - a couple thoughts:

"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'."

More importantly - I will blog for food. Paul

Hello everybody, just recently quit smoking! well I had one this morning but I was tricked. Turned around and a good friend had one out in front of me and wished me good morning, so I smoked it. Got to tell you tho it isnt easy, but I am really enjoying the monster improvement in completing the WODs not totally out of breath. Thanks Crossfit, you "Smoked" me out of smoking, thanks!

Comment #33 - Posted by: Gregory C. at July 27, 2011 12:43 AM

Hopefully we see some serious endurance event on the Games - like trail running 30-40K or something like that. Not just nitty-gritty 5-10K run or 2K swimming. This would segregate out really fit persons. Of course it is not spectator friendly. Keep up good work! (Pat'S and Bill's shirts are too tidy for CF image:))

really Rich, do you really think Crossfit competitions are the best way you can glorify God?

I'm sure you're a good man, you're surely a helluva athlete and I respect your faith. God gave you talent and health and the abundance of life and resources to be able to focus on something like a fitness competition.

But something doesn't sit right about you entering fitness competitions to glorify God. Surely there are better ways to do that.

I was still sore from yesterday's WOD.

A comment on #45: As a Christian I seek to glorify God in everything I do. It is a "prime motivation" in my life, whether it be in my work, doing a tough WOD, or in my family life. While we set aside time to "worship" God (say, at church on Sunday), glorifying God is something we can strive to do all the time.
Keep it up!

Still sore from Jackie, but I didn't want to give up right after the first day.

Chose a track with google maps that was limited by a traffic light, I think it was more like 750m or something, can't be sure with that. But it should suffice for tracking my own times.

Round 1: 2:40
Round 2: 2:43
Round 3: 6:21

Breaks were probably longer than two minutes, I didn't track it. The last one felt more like jogging than running (if there was no accident with the time tracking of round 1 and 2 that's pretty obvious :D), there was just no strength left in my legs and I had a hard time breathing anyway. At least it was over pretty fast.

Comment #55 - Posted by: Chris E at July 27, 2011 5:28 AM

#45 What would you have Rich do? I notice you didn't offer any suggestions. He also stated that the outcome of the comps, God probably could care less. By that statement alone, to me, it shows how he is grounded in his faith.

Furthermore, Rich now has a platform to speak about his faith. Without entering those competitions, that may have never happened. We are all blessed differently, our gifts manifest differently, our strengths and weaknesses are very different. We should major on our strengths and minor on our weaknesses.

Rich, thank you for majoring on your strengths and glorifying God in the process.

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippiams 4:13
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power." Ephesians 6:10

So Im new to crossfit, converting over from traditional training. I use to train push and pull muscles each day and jump from one workout to the other with little or no rest between sets. This style worked great for me, but surprisingly nothing makes me quite as sore and sweaty as crossfit. I have a question for all you that are experienced with crossfit. Is it hard to maintain size with crossfit? How many wods a day to the pros that compete in the games do and do they do additional training on top of crossfit? Any answers and advice will be greatly appreciated. Im really excited to engulf myself in the crossfit world.

The best way to glorify God for everyone is the best way you can think of glorifying God. Whatever God it may be. I believe Rich has made his choice. As respectful human beings we (you included) should support his desire to better himself and better the world as he perceives it to be. Judge not my friend.

total 10:21
total with breaks 16:21

Temp at the track 101degree 38.3 degree C

Fiest time on these. I missed it last time I was on a strenth cycle.

first round good
second round I started gassing after 3/4 of the first lap and just did my best to gut it out and not slow down real bad.

third round I was a bit smarter and paced it more but was starting to gas after the 400m and just focused on breathing. I kicked what I could at the last 100m and tied my time.

Funny the bottom of my feet were burning aftereach run. i think it was the heat off the black track but I do'nt know. Glad it was only three rounds. After the second round I though of skippin the last run, but we all know that is'nt going to happen.

Naw look at the height and body weight on some of them, they are runners more than anything and they run a mile in basicly 5-6 minutes.

Personally I can run a 10 minute mile with out puking right now but I am a powerlifter/body builder by nature.

W/U: 100 single-unders; 3 rounds of OHS, 10x; pull-up, 10x; push-up, 10x; AbMat sit-up, 10x.

As Rx (minus rests): 9:12.

C/D: 400m walk.

New PR by 3:22. Second time doing this WOD. Runs on outside track (81F, 42% humidity, wearing VFF). Times: 3:01 - 3:08 - 3:03.

Although a new PR, these are not my fastest 800m runs. And considering last time was done on a snow and ice covered track with a 13F wind chill, setting a new PR isn't exactly impressive. For yet another WOD, I'm having difficulty pushing hard through the, as Bingo calls it, "dark place." The fact that the 2 min rests felt adequate is probably another sign that I'm not giving it all I've got. Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself and look forward to trying harder next time.

Did this WOD 7.28 as warmup on track, 75F deg, ~10mph winds...9:32 run total, 13:32 total with rest.

400m splits: 1:40 - 1:35 - 1:33 - 1:32 - 1:35 - 1:37

Faster splits overall than I would have guessed, esp. 10 weeks after arthro knee surgery; and much faster 3-4-5 splits than I thought I could maintain. It's working.
