Kevin......great effort!! But you could sure use some technical improvements in your snatch.

could someone explain the snatch part, do i increase weight after each round of DB?

what an awesome idea for a WOD. from sucking wind to a very technical lift. I may puke.

nice wod and always enjoy Kevin's vids. Those the new 'tester' model Reebox hybrid CF/Lifting shoes Kevin is wearing? Look like the ones Lipson was wearing in Toronto recently. If so, look like a big improvement over the Zigs.

AWESOME CrossFit Kids Certification.

Many thanks to Todd, Dave, Kelly, and Erik. Great group of instructors who are clearly passionate about what they do. The most amazing part of the cert was the numerous carry overs into training adults. If anyone is serious about becoming a legit CrossFit trainer, this course is a must.

I can't say enough good things.

CPC @ Trident CF this weekend was fantastic. For me, it was great to be a student again. I've been fortunate to have trained others many at L1s, but rarely do I get to have some of CF's best coach me. If you want to be come a better coach - regardless of how long you've been coaching - get to a Coach's Prep Course. Think of it as continuing education!

Time could have been better I was cruz'n until I dropped the weight and it broke one of the collars on my bar. Took me about a minute to get another bar strip and replace weights, but I was still pleased cause I suck at the snatch. I lose my balance so I just took a weight that I could control fairly ease. Good work out.

Attended the Striking Cert this weekend at Crossfit Excellence in Lake Oswego, OR. Thanks to owners Cody and Jennifer for making us feel at home.

For those of you considering adding this Cert I would highly recommend you doing so. Mr. Ryan was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I have been teaching striking for several years and I have come away with the class with improvements to my own striking and also a lot of information on how to incorporate Striking within our box and academy.

700 lbs.

This is why I love mainsite programming -- DU's and snatches are two of my big 3 goats (OHS is the third), and I would never have programmed both in one workout myself. But sometimes being forced to do something for time in a workout is the best way to get better at it; much different than just endlessly practicing it with no pressure as an extracurricular thing, which is what I constantly do with DU's.

Big goat workout.

DU's are improving as in I can regularly get more than 10 in a row... I just have to prepare for and then ignore the old-lady bladder.

Snatches are a problem as they stress my wrist a lot. I haven't worked them much at all so I stayed light and tried to work towards the perfect squat snatch.... (got a looong way to go).

7 rounds of 35 double unders, 1 snatch at 65#

failed on one snatch for a total of 390lbs and done in 14:17

Apparently DU's are a learned skill. Today was my first attempt at doing them. The most I ever got without missing was 10. Usually I would miss on about the 3rd attempt.

Also the first time doing the snatch. (Couldn't snatch 95lbs. I think I'm doing it wrong)

Note to future Scott... On 5-23-11 you sucked at this WOD. Here's to hoping future Scott has improved.

I find myself running ~85 - 90% capacity in the sprints only because everytime I push for 100% I inevitably injure myself rather quickly. Is it that I just need to stretch more, warm-up more, or is age starting to catch up to me. Mind you, it only happens when sprinting...

Still sick so I scaled reps and used a light weight even though I probably shouldn't have done it all together.. I just can't help myself!

7 RFT of:
25 DUs (DU..SU...DU...SU..etc so really 25 DUs and 25 SUs)
1 snatch
12:10/350# total

I have at least been keeping up with my burpees while sick. Today was day 86 of my 100 day challenege.

Just back from my one week vacation to Barcelona where I managed to get in one workout in the hotel on Tuesday. Today I rode the bike for 4 minutes to warm up. Then I did the low ab isometrics and one round of the CFWU plus TRX reverse Y, T, and Ys. My left levator is feeling much better after being away from work for a week. This one was definitely tough as my conditioning is down. It took a lot of mental energy to finish all 7 rounds.

Finished in 19:59.

95 + 115 + 115 + 115 + 115 + 115 + 115 = 785 lbs.

My right toe is still a little sore and this is now around 2 full weeks of not wearing my insert. I feel it in my left, low back and E noticed I'm not level.

Comment #116 - Posted by: RJB7 at May 23, 2011 2:53 PM

First day back at Y since last Wednesday's arthro knee surgery on right leg. Trying to put into practice Greg Glassman's idea, from a Journal article, about training around injuries, so lots of bodyweight / one-legged stuff is going to be in the mix for a while.

Also want to make up the 4-5 workouts I missed, so did one of them as part of my warmup.

Rx = 7r. 35 DU, 1 snatch. Post time and successful snatch total

W/U:

* Static neck-shoulder, bar dislocates
* Samson, 10 pushups, 5 x 65# seated press, 5 x 135# bench press
* 10 BE, 10 situps, 15 dips, 4 dh pullups

* Weighted pullup WOD from 5/19: 2 reps each, 7 sets; 185# bwt;+ 10-16-24-30-40-30-38.

W/O:

Sub: 250m one-legged rows for 35 DU, seated press x 1 for snatch x 1.

7 rounds - 16:40 - 650#

Overhead *anything* still a major goat, so it's lots of pressing for me until right leg ready for squatting (and I find a doc / PT who's good with that), then it's on to OHS and snatch...

C/O: Tabata pullups to get to 40 -- did 27 total. Slowly climbing that number. Official Tabata score (lowest total in any round): 3.

I was SUPER sore from the ring dips and air squat WOD 2 days ago. I warmed up for a while.
Good WOD. I took a bit of time between DUs and snatches. I don't snatch that often, so for me 115 lbs is heavy. I was really happy with my form for my snatches.
I followed with 115 lb Push Presses, Push Jerks and Clean & Jerks ot practice technique. I like to work on form sometimes when I'm a little tired. I tend to see my default errors in technique that way. I don't go too heavy so I can see where I'm breaking up and then fix it accordingly.
Fun Stuff.

Those of us who went for the "Test Only" were really short changed. The "Study Guide" did not cover all of the test material. When Test participants were admitted Sunday afternoon, we were NOT given a review, but a lesson on programming. Immediately before the test we were given a 15 minute review. Thankfully I passed, but I would like for future test takers to be admitted to the full Seminar if they wish. It's ok if the presenters don't want us to participate in the break away groups... it would be ok for us just to watch. The retakers don't need to do Fran either. Just let us listen to the lectures so we can pass the test!

(definitely could've gone heavier on the snatches--went with 65# but 85# seemed too heavy--next time maybe try 75#? Getting more consecutive DU's without singles between--yay!)

35 DU and 1 rep snatch.
Record time and wt lifted.

CDR A:
Well I need to work on my snatch form.
Good lessons learned, trying to snatch off of wood chips is tougher if one
does not dig their heels down to real dirt.

Final time: 11.28 with 975 lbs.(145-145-145-135-135-135-135)
avg HR at 75% cal 227.

For the GC:
DU were the tough thing, mostly 1 and 2, but did hit a few 3's while I was
cheering.
He hit 155 x 7 on snatches = 1085
Not sure on the final time.

WOD #97 - Done on 5/30. Reason number 3 or so why a CrossFit box is probably better than a Globo gym: not having to worry about killing someone with a barbell trying to do snatches in a crowded weight room. Don't know if I could have done more weight, but I know I was worried every time I put the bar up.

Greg A.'s warmup
WOD time - 21:30 (give or take a minute running around the gym and waiting for a space to clear to do my lift
WOD loads - 135, 135, 145, 145, 145, 155, 155 = 1,015
