First time with this one so don't make fun of me to much... After the warm up do we just go balls out for a max, or can we build up to our max and count that as our rep? For instance, can I complete a 1-1-1-1-1 until I max and count the last rep or is this just a once and done type thing?

I am excited about this WOD, this is the first one i think i can do no problem at the gym, i am new to most of this. Saturday i got a back squat and dead at 125 pounds but that was not my max, i think i can add some more weight no problem. The press will be low as i still am not that good at that one but i will post in the morning.

Jason, #15- Begining with the back squat, warm up with just the bar, then go up to around your 80-90% 1RM and keep going until you determine your 1RM. Then repeat w/ shoulder press, and again with the deadlift. Finish each exercise before starting the next, ie. don't jump back and forth between lift types.

Warmup:
3 min run
2 mins of varied calistenics
2 min ring work: skin the cats/dips/etc

WOD:
Dont have MU yet, subbed floor assisted MU with strict ring dips, 1 sec pause at support, then 7 strict pullups, changing grip from pronated, mixed, suppinated each round.

Completed 3 rnds + 7 floor-assisted MU & 7 strict pullups.

Limiting factor were logistics of running over to the treadmill and starting it up. Next time I'll do this WOD outside.

Some intimidating CFTs on this thread; good reminder I'm competing with myself and inertia...

Squat - 195
Press - 105
Deadlift - 260 (PR)

CFT = 560 (PR)

Pretty pumped about this: progress. It's + 20 to CFT done on 3.9, which was most likely invalid since that was my first week of CF, I didn't know the diff b/w a press and a push press, and I'm pretty sure I push pressed that day ;)

Also gutted through squat, full ROM, and dead, full ROM, today despite torn medial meniscus (arthro this coming Wednesday) -- in fact, knee and meniscus felt fine during whole CFT experience, and still do an hour later. (Guess this is one more vote in the "squats and deads, done right, do NOT mess with knees" column)

I went for squats and deads with the more-than-a-little-stupid notion that "hey, if I screw up the knee worse, so what? It will get fixed Wednesday." Balanced that out with not pushing beyond 195 on squat when it was serious effort to come out of the squat on 2nd attempt.

After surgery, it will be a good while before I do another CFT, I'm guessing. Given that today I was an easy 20-40# under where my squat could be now with full confidence in both legs, I see 600 CFT by late summer and, hey I can dream can't I?, 650-700 by the end of the year...

Mammograms in Actions -- congrats to the organizers, participants and donors. $4K to $300K in a couple of years is *impressive.*

My wife's aunt died from breast cancer. Nasty disease, but she was spunky to end.

It's a great cause and guys if you wanna be scared for the gals in your life, and maybe motivated to donate, look up the incidence / prevalence of b. cancer.

What's next goal -- a mil? Go for it.

I am going to start a starting strength style program to try and get back to my PR of 795 a year ago. I have been loosing strength in the olympic lifts ever since I started playing soccer again... But I have switched my focus to more gymnastic related movements as well, so that could be it.

I am VERY pleased with these results! In being a member of the CrossFit community for just 2 months and not doing Back Squats and traditional Deadlifts prior to the start of my CF training on 3/10/11, for well over a year (did ONLY Front Squats and Sumo Deadlifts at the YMCA), I'll definitely go with this work!

It's ONLY gonna get bigger & deffer!

A story for the injured...

After almost a year of injuries, a torn rotator cuff in June 2010 and a torn hamstring in Jan 2011 my first CFT since Feb 2010 is just blowing me away. And not even taking the injuries into account, a CFT after what I would argue is the toughest two week cycle of workouts in the three and a half years I've been doing this.

New CFT PR at 935 by 15#. First time hitting my PR on all three lifts the same day. The 350 BS felt strong going down, but something switched in my head and it all of a sudden felt too heavy at the bottom. Held the 175 SP just above head for about 5 seconds. I haven't hit a 420 DL in quite some time, so I chickened out and didn't go for a new PR. Felt like pa pretty strong session.

I did Grace today instead.
I used 120 lbs. I did it in 5:53 and did all in more of a push press or jumping jerk, not a split jerk. I wanted to focus more on speed and not split jerking it. I will try this one next time using 125 lbs, then 130 lbs, then As Rx.
I felt pretty good, and I liked attacking a weakness of mine (high rep olympic lifts.)

My goal is to get to 1000 before I die or get too damn old. But so far, I am getting stronger in these lifts. I atribute it to being religious about CF and good nutrition (Paleo). But I was stronger this time for some odd reason. I'll attribute today's PR to the fact that I ate a bar of grass-fed beef Pemmican 30 minutes before workout (80 percent fat). Lots of readily available energy.

CFWU-3. Reg except no HSPU. Superman. Burgener. DU. K to E.
BS: 225X5 WU, 275 low bar warmup
355. Low bar. Best in a long time. Good job getting hips back & keeping lumbar area tight.
SP: 155. Not too bad. Much better job of big chest, tight core & lumbar on 3rd attempt. Failed @ 155 on 2nd so needed to get this weight instead of going higher.
DL: 400! Not pretty, but got it up. Good job keeping lumbar tight, chest tight & rotating feet out.
