This breaks my heart to see this. My condolences go out to the family and friends of Jeremy. Don't worry buddy I'm going to go hard for you.
Nice wod! oddly enough, I came up with the same one about a month ago. looking forward to doing it again :)
I was half-expecting "OBL"...lie flat without moving for as long as you can.
Keegan... you are a beast
Quick Question: I always thought this WOD was 3 rounds of 21-15-9 of each movement, but from the times it is obvious they just counted each of the 21, 15, and 9 as a round. Just wanted some clarification that it is supposed to be a Fran style WOD rather than like 3 frans back to back to back. Thanks in advance
#4 B. Noyce
Yes it's just like Fran and that was Keegans time.
Condolences to the family but I really think this WOD should have gone to one HERO SEALs to commemorate this auspicious day for those silent warriors who let you sleep soundly every night.
"...or even a great school."
I almost choked on my coffee.
Great line.
How about a shout out to those seals?
Man, no one around here or at cf hq are oblivious to the huge sacrifice that the seals and other military groups make to keep us safe. This is obvious by the many hero wods dedicated to these fallen soldiers. But honoring this person's life is just as significant. A person is dead and people are making it sound like he wasn't important enough. That's just sad. RIP Jeremy.
WOW! Crossfit and Coach never fail to impress. Getting involved and making the ISR known and available. Truly an awesome thing to do. Thanks from a father of 4 and someone who has worked and seen the tragic side of a child drowning. Tucson, Az.
Wow, almost five years since that pic of the young kid on the swing - I've never met Jeremy or his folks but I remember how I felt that day. Still got the pic on the computer as a screensave. RIP Jeremy and best thoughts to your family.
Nah Jordon it's a timing issue not a "good enough" issue. Don't go looking for hate or you might find it.
God Bless America
Gotta agree with mad science. It just seems odd
That nothing is mentioned on either of the main sites
(crossfit endurance/ football). It's such a patriotic workout
site designed for military and when the military scores a big
win there's nothing.
This is great I just lost my neice and nephew in a terrible accident. They were ages 4 and 11 months. So today is going to be for all the little lives lost in this world. Big shout out to my boys in Seal Team Six. I was in the area when they killed Saddam and now I'm in the area when they kill bin Laden, SWEET! Good luck today everyone, and my condolences go out to Jeremy's family.
I teach swim lessons to little kids. If you have a kid, get them in a GOOD lesson as soon as possible. It's not about getting them on the swim team, it's about them being safe in and near water.
Please remember, drowning in real life it not like in a movie. The person can rarely call out or yell. Many people drown very near others because no one knew anything was wrong. If you see someone with their head under the water just a little too long, grab them and pull them up. If they are fine, then just say hi. If not, you may have just saved their life.
ok, newbie question and I did look this up but just wanting clarification please.
21 o'head squats, 21 burpees; 15 o'head squats, 15 burpees; 9 o'head squats, 9 burpees.
Repeat 2 more times.
Have I got it correct?
Haven't been able to complete a WOD in 2 months due to 2 brain hemmorhages. Wish I had health insurance, I really need treatment! The great part is that I haven't lost a lb of mass, and still feel fantastic(besides horrible brain throbbing..). I usually wither away quickly during training breaks. I began CrossFit last year, and it has made all the diference!!
Ha ha ha,
I remember when coach first showed this to us. He posted a video, without explanation, on the mainsite, of him (from the waist down) throwing his daughter face down in his pool. I was a SCUBA guy in the military and at the time I was teaching my kids how to swim. I did not know about the drown proofing school and when I saw a video of him throwing his daughter in the pool, I flipped out, on the mainsite board. Then I did some quick research, did a 180 (on the mainsite) and discovered this awesome technique for keeping your kids safe. Every parent should have their kids take a drown-proofing class....
Have Fun, Train Hard,
Billy
Jeremy, Fair winds little guy. My heart aches when I see you picture.
Train Hard,
Billy

Looking for hate? Not me friend. Simply making a point. Not even sure how that statement applies here.
HQ,
I really hope that there is an awesome Hero Wod to celebrate the incredible achievement of DEVGRU in killing OBL. The execution of the mission from what information has been released was outstanding and since Crossfit has such close ties to the Military I really hope a Hero WOD is just around the corner.
Thanks and well done DEVGRU on brining this POS to justice!
F'n awesome video - one of my favs
What a great partnership
Congrats

[broken record ON] Does the "drowning" aspect of today hint at a Crossfit Reebok 2011 Games event?
(1) Swim the length of an "Odyssey Custom Made PORTABLE Pool", 80ft x 130ft, 60in deep
(2) Recover 35# "baby" weight at bottom of pool
(3) Swim back while carrying the baby weight
(4) Place baby weight on pool edge
(5) Repeat for remaining weights
(6) Climb out of pool after placing third, forth or fifth weight on pool edge
(7) perform monitored CPR on child-sized or man-sized CPR mannequin for X-minutes or Y-compressions.
Perhaps the weights recovered from the bottom of the pool are 35#, 45#, 55#, etc?
Recall that Coach Glassman point blank mentions a pool as a possibility during the 2011 Games. The mention occurs during an audience member filmed video during the 2010 CrossFit Endurance Sports & Fitness Expo "Exec Panel"

Luke Mullen, I don't think we'll see a swim event in this year's games. But in one of the recent Games Open video interviews, Tony Budding mentioned there was a very likely chance it would come up next year.

It's "Fran"-style.
"Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time of".
3 rounds TOTAL, first round 21 reps each exercise, second round 15 reps each exercise, third round 9 reps each exercise, stop the clock.
Sad story about Jeremy, makes todays WOD difficult.
From what I understand, the Hero WODs are for military/LEO who died in the line of duty. They don't seem to be posted for people who killed a lot of people (or "important" people) in the line of duty. I would rather HQ stick with it's current style of honoring those that have fallen and not add insult to those we have killed.
two of my goats, but for jeremy i'll hit it hard.
as a qualified lifesaver, here's my 2 centavos: drowning is not called 'the silent death' for nothing. a person drowning actually looks like they are trying to climb a ladder - they don't have the energy to cry out. as heather szabo said earlier - it's not like in the movies. please, if you see someone who is struggling, or floating limp on or under the water - grab them, get them to air. you may get abused, but you also just might save a life

All unbroken.
OHSs, first 21 started a bit slow and about 7 reps I realized'' Hey, I can go faster on these, after 10 I picked it up a bit.
Second set(15 reps) I was slow and steadt, after the burpees my quads were burning real bad and I didn't want to put the bar down so I was a bit more careful here.
9s were a sprint to just get it done.

Well dome crossfit for such a partnership. I current teacher babies and toddlers to swim in the UK and this should of course should be a compulsory element of early years care along with inoculations. If you're in the uk and want to know what we do try Water Babies.
So I wanted to sign up and get in on the next crossfit games next year I am 18 am I old enough to participate? I know this is like global but how do I go about this?

It's a total love-hate for me with these 21- 15- 9- WODs. They are nasty during, but then again, they are over so fast. All unbroken, though it was tough to get through the first two rounds of burpees without stopping. Legs were on fire near the end of the OHS. Note to self - extended warm-up was a good idea today - that, plus the heel cord mWOD seemed to make for easier squatting and better ROM.

For those of you saying they should have honored the seals, think for yourselves rather than blindly believing what they tell you. Bin Laden has been dead for years. Don't you find it odd they threw his body in the sea, permanently removing all evidence. And isn't it also odd that the man supposedly behind the 9/11 attacks hasn't been able to pull off another attack on America for 10 years. Bin Laden was nothing nothing more than a face to put on terrorism to keep the American sheeple scared. And now they will use his supposed death to boost Obama's ratings. Almost everything you see on the news is a lie. Wake up people!
So I misread the WOD and did 95 lbs thrusters instead of OHS.

Shouldn't have dropped the bar in the middle of the second round.....could have pushed through. Burpees got slow from the pre-fatigue from OHS. Would have been silly fast if done the original way with broomstick.

Wow, there are some crazy low times, great work!

Greg,
It is a great and inspiring effort you are making to help teach children to swim. So very like you. Heartfelt, thorough, and effective.

I was glad to do all the OHS unbroken. I just did the burpees slow and steady, unbroken. I was feeling it in my legs a bit, but wanted to push a little, not stop and go unboken. Next time I'll push a little harder with the burpees.
I am always goign to try to do my OHS from the ground from now on, since that seems to be the Games standards. I was always doing them off a rack. That threw me at the Open Games with the 120 lb OHS I wasn't used to power cleaning it and jerking it to start the OHS. It's a good practice I think. If you're strong enough to OHS it then you should easily be able to jerk it up and get into position.
Good WOD. I am trying to work more in this time frame. I am better at 20 minute plus WODs.. real grinders, like filthy 50.
I did a good WOD I created a couple days ago of:

WOD #84 - Done on 5/7. As rx'ed, but reason #1 of many I'm guessing why a "Globo" gym isn't as good as a CrossFit box, having to walk a distance to get from the place where there's room and equipment to do OHS's to where there's room to do burpees (Yay burpees!). Don't know how much my time was hurt with the walking but, eh, what are you gonna do?
