I'm posting my Wod #2 score here well before the deadline. I've written an email to support@crossfit.com as well. My score is not being taken because our Affiliate name doesn't appear on the list. I've been told they're addressing the problem, but just in case, I'm covering my a$$...

Women's Masters (45-49)
9 rounds, plus 9 DL (100#), 12 pushups, and 10 box jumps (20"). Total reps = 355.

Comment #21 - Posted by: Bonnie Lynn at April 2, 2011 11:01 PM

Angella no you wouldn't. While it's a great gym and Utah can be beautiful. Ogden is the armpit of Utah and has plenty of unemployment etc...That gym is in the ghetto that they are trying to make hip now.

But hey who wouldn't want to be in a climbing gym in the most popular climbing state in the country. beautiful photo, but Ogden is what it is.

According to the video about the games website, , you can contact games@crossfit.com if you're having trouble getting scores in. Tony also mentions that the leaderboard and team calculations are being worked on, so the lack of scores showing up may be a result of recent work.

Also trying (unsuccessfully) to submit scores to the games website -- we still have athletes that are not being allowed on our team and athletes who have tried submitting scores multiple time but are not granted "access".

All of our attempts (at least 15) at reaching out to HQ for help/support have not been responded to (yes this is a big undertaking... WE knew that...) and the team scores look out of wack?!

Just wanted to say thanks to CF. Two weeks ago I registered for a 10 mile run. I used to run alot but due to a really bad knee, the last year and a half my running has been strictly CF prescribed. The 10k wod a couple weeks ago went down pretty easy and I was reinspired. I ran the whole way yesterday. No stopping. No walking. Minimal knee pain. Thanks CF for helping my body back to this place. Just signed up for a 1/2 marathon in July. Any advice from anyone on balancing 1/2 training and CF woods would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Michael Bann, officially last place on the leaderboard has better scores than most of the athletes in the next 20 positions. Are there consistent formula problems on the leaderboard, or perhaps rolling tabulations as new scores come in and Im just seeing the lag?

Comment #76 - Posted by: Steve Muggridge at April 3, 2011 11:57 AM

Sunday musings...

1) DOMS. My delayed onset muscle soreness has delayed onset muscle soreness. Just saying.

2) Gym rules. Every shared space has “rules of the road”, rules to guide a certain behavioral norm such that local denizens can coexist. Similar spaces have similar rules no matter where you might find them. Think about it. Every basketball court you've ever visited has had a similar set of rules and regulations for who gets to play when, what constitutes a foul, and what it takes to win. A Globo-gym is different from a Crossfit box, but most Globo-Gyms are very similar to one another, as are most Crossfit boxes.

When established norms of behavior are violated it can be like getting punched in the nose. Mrs. bingo rides horses. I'm not really much of a horse guy to tell you the truth. I'm really comfortable in all sorts of circumstances, right at home every time I walk into a gym, a hospital, or a country club. Places where horse people hang out, barns and the like, well, here I've had to learn the ropes. But it turns out that horse barns are just like every other space: they have rules. Bullies flaunt the rules, disregard them as a way to intimidate other denizens of the barn.

I know the barn rules now. All it took was to see someone break a rule, and do it so obviously, that now I know the rules. It's really just like a gym. No different from the last basketball court I stepped onto. Rudeness is rudeness and bullies are bullies.

I know the rules for how to handle that.

3) Tone. The internet has turned the citizens of cyber–space into “gotta have it now”, “nothing is more important than me” creatures. Not only that, but we are becoming slovenly, unwilling to do the littlest bit of work or spend the littlest amount of time to help ourselves. Indeed, when it's nothing but a bunch of servers and a software salad, there's no reason why we can't expect to “have it your way”. In the case of servers and software the more terse and spare the request, the more likely we are to receive exactly that which we seek.

However, this puts us at risk of losing the ability to interact with people. When we talk, text, e-mail, or post with the intention that any of these might be seen by another person, tone becomes important. Some (like me) might even say that tone is at LEAST as important as content. Courtesy. Kindness. Consideration for the feelings of others. These are all integral parts of conversation. By definition, if we expect a response to our missives we are in the midst of a conversation.

No one has appointed me referee, but I'm throwing the flags anyway. YOU, the one over there making a blanket accusation of incompetence… 15 yards for unsportsmanlike behavior. The three, five, 50 of you standing on the 10 yard line, offering up the same complaint as the guy on the five? 15 yards for piling on. And the guy over there, standing next to the ball waiting for the referee to bend over and hand it to him? Like all those folks asking the same question that was answered 10 posts above them? 100 burpees for not listening.

In cyber–space, when what you write is meant to be read, all you have to add measure to meaning is your tone.

So play nice.

I'll see you next week…

8:04 with 185 on DL's.

Significantly off PR, but had to no-rep myself on a few HSPU's for failing to lock-out at top and that really cost me time. I tend more towards the "form" end of the form/intensity continuum that has been much-debated here, and sometimes there's a price for that.

Speaking of prices, I'd like to echo what many others have said on this forum and advise anyone who has not yet subscribed to the Journal to do so immediately: it will be the best $25 you've ever spent on your fitness. I've been lifting/running/riding/rowing/martial arts/etc. for over 30 years, and CF-ing exclusively for 3 years, and I only subscribed a few months ago. What a mistake that was! I procrastinated because, well, so much is available for free on the site, and would I really get much more for the money, etc.

I couldn't have been more wrong. How many times have you bought something and afterwards thought "I would have paid much more for that?" This will be one of those rare times.

Here's only my most recent example: I simply cannot do a full-squat snatch, no matter how much I've worked at it. After watching the recent Chad Vaughn video I redoubled my efforts, but it wasn't happening. Despairing of ever being able to do anything but a power snatch, I was searching the Journal and I found the article by Coach B dissecting Josh Everett's use of the split snatch, and I knew I had found my answer. Further searching revealed an article where Josh explained that he never felt right with the squat snatch and that since the official definition of a snatch is simply ground to overhead in one movement, he switched to the split snatch and never looked back. This was a compete revelation to me, and with a little practice (and of course the Burgener warmup) I am now snatching close to my bodyweight and am really excited about that lift instead of considering it a lost cause.

Hell, I would have paid more than $25 just for that advice. And I've had other similar experiences with the Journal just in a few months. But I could have been that much further in my training earlier if I hadn't procrastinated so much. So learn from my mistake and get with the Journal today!

I think Hq staff should consider extending the deadline for some of these games workouts...If athletes cant see where their results are placing them they cant determine if its worth the time and energy to do the Workouts again! Very frustrating.

I agree with Santos and others on the result delay. Just did my WOD#2 this AM, posted around noon Pacific time and saw a "successful submit" msg. But, as of 2:15, no result is able to be displayed. As big as Reebok is, this is still fraught with bugs. Mad love for Crossfit but hope this is smoother for WOD#3!

Looks like I will miss the deadline for submission since I don't have video proof. Anybody got any suggestions?

not the smartest thing I've done:
WU: 3 rnds 8xPress 95#, 8xBall slam 30#

then decided to give 11.2 a try again, but agreed to quit if I slowed to 1:30 a round:
8 rnds+3dl in 10min then quit. Should have kept going, but rnd 8 was 1:30 and my foggy WOD math had me thinking I was on pace for 11 rnds not 12.(got 11+4DL last time)

followed that bad decision with this bad decision:

"Diane" scaled up to 245#DL and Ring HSPU's:

11:19

DL's weren't bad, but Ring HSPU's were tough.

CD: skin the cats and bridge holds.

knee is now swollen, low back and shoulders are toast.

21-15-9 reps of:
225 pound Deadlift
Handstand push-ups

04 April 2011 attempt.

DL were 12-15-9 all straight (first time for that)
HSPU were head to deck/hair to deck (very short hair without the thud of the head)
HSPU were done 6-5-4-3-3: 4-3-3-3-2:3-2-2-2.
HPSU last rep for each was with frog kips up.
rnd1= 3.30: rnd 2= 3.15, rnd 3 = 2.45.
Total = 9.30 new PR.

today 02 Dec 2010.
DL were 15,6-10,5-9
HSPU head to deck, no pad
9,4,3,3,2- 3,3,3,3,3- 3,3,2,1
Time of 9:53. So similiar time as when I was using a pad, so getting slowly better, still a weakness but not quite so bad. Can work on more during warmups.

From 22 Dec 2009...
Deadlift was 21, 10-5, 9
HPSU were 11-6-4,6-4-3-2, 3-2-2-2
used 2" pad under head.

Final Time was 6:30.. a new PR by 3 min!
Great improvement on the HSPU as the DL were about the same. HSPU is clearly not strength of mine but no longer a weakness. Good to see the work pay off.

Comment #146 - Posted by: Matt A at April 4, 2011 5:39 AM

Tried to gauge my fitness level in comparison to you big dogs out there posting awesome times.

I did 11-8-5 instead of the prescribed 21-15-9. First time: 2:43, then did it again for 3:30.

This seeemed too easy to be a good comparison. I usually make times that are 2x the highest posted.
How else can I gauge my relative fitness as compared to others in terms of percentage.

Feet hooked on 5ft high barbell. 5 weeks into crossfit and haven't gotten the confidence to give handstand push ups a shot.

10 seconds slow of PR today. The deadlifts all felt great and went smoothly - best they have felt in Diane. I felt like I was utilizing more hamstring too. HSPUs started off great, got the first 17, and I was flying. I really felt like today would be my sub-5 Diane. But they got slow in round 2 - only got the first 5 to start - and that may have got in my head a bit. The last round was mostly singles. Disappointed with the time, but not the effort. Next time.

It's still nuts to me that folks are cranking out 225lb DLs in some of these workouts... did 115lb DLs with 115lb/95lb push presses vs. hspu... do DLs just take awhile to build up poundage? have never really done them before crossfit but I'm too big (6'2, 195lb) not to do more weight...

5:54 rx. Strict handstand push-ups. I tried to break each round of handstand push-ups into three sets, which worked until the end of the second round when I started to burn out. I started to get pretty over-extended towards the end too. Still, better than last time. Deadlift was no problem - all rounds unbroken.
