Ah, that's the Korea I remember. Those guys know how to utilize space. I would love to see a home gym from Korea!

Oh! I am Korean!
I know this guy!
I thought it would be "Murph" (see last two St. Patty's Days)! Glad it isn't. I like this one.
I also thought Murph. I was even gonna try to finish the whole thing in one go. Usually I have to run the first mile and do 50 pullups, 100 pushups and 150 squats in the morning, then do the other 50 pullups, 100 pushups, 150 squats and run the second mile in the evening.
Gary Raubes = Gary Taubes
Fantastic pic. Agree with #1 post. Lets see some overseas spaces!
Seong Hyun Go, what city are you training in?
I'm training just like you here in Samcheok, Gangwon-do.
I bet hes a pro at not only Crossfit, but also SC: Brood War and SC2. :)

Love the kids Video. So Jealous.
Awesome pic... space is limited here in Korea but we managed to get an old racquetball court on the base for "Functional Movement Workouts" loving it!
Coordination and flexibility seams to be my strengths, however the 1 rep slow lifts tense to be goats. Thats why those numbers might seem so close.
I would think the bugs would have been worked out of the Games site by now. How long has this been in the making? You can't register or use search functions. Please address this. People are getting very discouraged.
That is an awesome picture and quote!

Enjoyed putting together a couple of posts on Gary's appearance on Oz's show, including the one above.
I would be curious to know Oz's glucose numbers after he inhales all that 'whole wheat' he's so emotionally attached to. I bet that he would be surprised at the numbers, and perhaps at his A1c also.
Where do I go to watch the competitor's video submissions? I've signed up as a fan but I don't see where to go.
I've been psyching myself up for Murph all week. It makes me a little sick to say this, but I'm a little bummed. Oh well - 3,2,1....
i have athletes that have competed that i am ready to validate, but when they submit it automatically goes through without my validation. whats going on here? THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE PEOPLE START SUBMITTING WITHOUT ANY VALIDATION!
3 of top 10 competitors are from Iowa...Go HAWKS!!!
I'm new to crossfit so sorry if this is a dumb question but is this workout 5 sets of 1 rep?

My Korean CrossFit brothers (and sisters),
You are welcome to come hit the Open workouts with us in Seoul every Saturday (equipment willing). Just shoot me a note off the CrossFit Yongsan website.
Looking forward to seeing how I stack up against all the other 2m tall, 103kg 40-year old right-handed blue eyed males who have trouble eating clean...
Thanks for the video Dave and Rob. I love WOD demos. By the Way I would kill to have a 250lb OHS
I'm stuck in a hotel. Do you recommend I try this with dumbells?
Fantastic photo! If there are any Crossfitters near Gyeongju Korea let me know, I'd love to meet up for a workout.
Hey Nik W.,
If you ever head up the East coast, or if I head down, it'd be great to meet up with another Canuck for a wod.
Can anyone recommend a good knee brace brand? I hurt it in the 10 x 100 sprints last week. I'm looking for one I can use for general CF WODs, including the OLYs, squats, etc.

Sadly, this is my last post for a while. What had been a series on nagging aches and strains turned into that plus a scary, deep pain in my left groin area while doing back squats this morning. In times past, I would have tried to "power through" but in my mid fifties I have learned that approach is foolish from a long term perspective.
I am extremely grateful for this CF resource (and at such a great price!). I wish all of the Games competitors the strength, focus and health necessary for them to perform to their abilities.
For a while, someone else will have to post lower quartile results that may be somewhat representative of the "common, middle-aged man".
Regards to all.

Cbland...sounds like something that happened to me. I iced it a ton, 20min on 20min off every night til it stopped hurting while just sitting there and then I started squatting (air, bar, weight) every day and stretching it. for the first couple of weeks I iced after I squatted as it felt better after light squatting but after I got more confident it was working I cut out the ice and just did light squatting for about a month. I didn't do a wod for a month as it hurt to run more than it hurt to squat. The weirdest thing was that it was almost like I was rebuilding that muscle/tendon when i started squatting again. This was like two months ago and it is still in the process of getting stronger and still feels a little strange. Hope this helps you heal. Not a dr. just an anecodote!

CBland, rest up and ease back into things. I have had a few injuries that forced me to step back. I returned smarter and got fitter. All of my problems came from poor form or not enough rest. Good luck!
Interesting article by Taubes. Nice to see a spectrum approach, placing individuals somewhere between the extremes of carb-tolerant and intolerant. I can eat carbs all day and not get fat. Tried lower carb and lost muscle mass and felt like crap even while eating a ton of fat. Perhaps I didn't do it right. Now eat a paleo base with low GI carbs to bring up calories. Still can't gain weight unless I do GOMAD again, but that's another story.

This was a PR for me. I was most proud of the fact that my hips were well below my knees.
Sorry, no OHS or FS. Jammed my left pinky finger really badly about a week ago practicing for LFL tryouts and still can't grip anything yet. Amazing what being down a pinky can do to you!! Frustrating as @#$%.
Was working through it for about a week but that wasn't helping it heal any faster:-(

Wonder if someone can help me out with this. I am having a terribly hard time with doing the OHS. My shoulders just don't bend far back enough to keep the weight in the center line of my body. Also when I try to bend down and squat my heels come off the ground. The form is not even there and I feel I am hurting myself when doing this movement. I did the OHS several times with just the bar and every time in order to keep my feet down I had to move the bar in front of my center line. The only way I even did the OHS with 40kg on the bar was because I cheated and used a squat machine that keeps the bar moving in a perfect vertical line. And still I was in allot of pain and my heel was off the ground. Please help a little. The FS just felt weird but doable, more practice will get me there. The BS was fine; I've done those before plenty.
Also because I cheated after doing the WOD I did another 15 reps of BS with 90kg on the bar.

@ Berto - Wish it was easier Berto but you'll probably have to get better at OHS the same way I did. Practice, practice, practice. It is certainly not my favorite movement but I do it four or five times a week as part of my warmup (Greg Amundson's). It gets easier.
Also check Kelly Starrett's mobility blog for some movements that help increase the range of motion in your shoulder joint.
Hope this helps, and good luck

I have tried about 20 times to register for the Open Games. Each time, I get the "empty shopping cart" message. CrossFit HQ/Games Team, please address this beyond what is stated in the FAQ. How are you going to deal with a number of competitive athletes not being able to sign up and submit their scores by this Sunday? Are you able to enter our registration information for us behind the scenes instead of using the public Games site which is full of bugs? I've been trying to register for a number of days now, well before the Sunday cut-off. This is incredibly frustrating and a big time drain to keep checking the site to see if its working, not to mention giving out personal and credit card information numerous times for it to disappear off into internet limbo. Please help/correct this problem ASAP.

Good job split jerking 195 into position. 195 felt really good. Good job w/core stability. Good depth.
FS-205,215,225,235,245=1125
Depth good on last set. Little bit of rounding.

Disap w/back squat effort. Need to keep bar further down back. Think I may have been getting too deep & bottoming out.
