Hey everyone, my fiancé just had foot surgery, and she will be in a walking boot for 2.5 months. Any suggestions for workouts that are easy on her foot, but still tough for the rest of her body?

Seriously, there is no other sport in the world that makes it as easy as Crossfit to "put up or shut up". If you want to be considered the fittest person in the world, than it costs you a couple of bucks and a video. If you are good, you get to compete. That's pretty simple.

Loving this program so far though! It's my first week, and although I've had to scale down in weight, I am more sore than I've been in a long time. It's tricky to juggle with half-marathon training, but I'm sure it's doable.

Awesome stuff. Had to use a 12 lb ball (gym didn't have anything heavier). Runs were on a treadmill (6:00/mile pace).
Officially one calendar month into CrossFit. Getting closer to 'as Rxd' every day, but I'm in no particular hurry. I love how the results just keep coming so naturally. Amazing program. Amazing day. (But not as good as tomorrow's rest day is going to feel!!)

#19 you can easily build your own wallball. I made mine from army duffel filled with pea gravel (5# in ziploc bags, double bagged) and bound up with duck tape. Cheap, effective, brutal. :)

Big back step, but it is the biggest metcon I have done in 6 months or more. It was a killer for sure. I was slow, but steady.
Box jumps were step downs. Wallball last two sets were 15's. Last run was ''high stepping walk'' It was hard that is a real goat workout.
I'm glad to finish it, I was happy with keeping up with it, regardless of how slow it was, I never really broke down. Rested a bit longer on the wall ball, but that was the only break. The rest was slow and constant.

Cash out: more mobility work, lacrosse ball on hamstrings and ITB/calf muscle; foam roller on back, ITB and shoulders; taped-together lacrosse ball shoulder mobility work.

Trying to get the right balance between improving metcon ability and Just slogging through the workout no matter how long it takes? Any thoughts?

I spent about a total of 2-3 months in a combination of walking boot, soft shoes, and crutches post-surgery.
Tell your fiance to be aggressive in talking with her doctors about a recovery plan. She should be in some sort of physical therapy program or be given a DEFINITIVE plan by her doctor. If she hasn't been given one, she needs to ask.
Also, have her keep up with moving the affected area, including flexibility to break up scar tissue. Work with bands (those stretchy rubber types) is a very, very smart idea that will help her keep muscle tone, flexibility, and ROM. Also, her physical therapist might be able to provide/suggest TENs therapy, which will also help those areas.
Let me know if you would like further info. I'm not a doctor, but I went through hell after my foot surgery, and am all too happy to help people learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of my doctors. 3 years of clawing back to top form, losing my military career, and chronic pain and nerve damage...I don't want anyone to have to go through that.

I've had no get-up-and-go all week and it showed on this one. Oddly, it was still a PR by four minutes since I subbed rowing the last time due to an Achilles tendon problem and the previous effort was a long long time ago.

Lost 3 minutes on my last time because I missed 4 days of WOD's and my lower back tightened up like a mofo. I am disappointed that I lost 3 minutes on my previous, but I am confident this isn't a pattern that will continue as long as I consistently train and am not traveling/losing sleep on a regular basis.

Did this workout on Thursday, 2/24/11.
I rode the bike for 5 mins and did one round of the CF Warm-Up. My right foot has been a little sore from all the jump rope last week and it's feeling a little sore right now. I hope it stays together after this workout.
I modified the workout to 5 rounds for time of:
.25 mile run on a treadmill
15 box jumps to a 24 in. box
15 wall ball shots to a 10-11' target with a 25 lb. ball
I forgot to start my stopwatch and didn't start it until after I finished round 1. I finished the other 4 in 23:44. My rounds ranged from 5:20 to 6:10 so I'm adding another 6 minutes for my first round. Total time was 29:44.
I can feel my stamina starting to improve.

Decent job on runs once I recovered. Took too long to recover though. At least 1/3 lap on most rounds.
BJ much better. Using arms for momentum & landing on heels on box really seemed to help.
WB not bad. Make sure to keep knees out, elbows & chest up.

i had to sub in wall tosses with thrusters, question though, should i have used two or one DB? i started with two 20kg dbs because it says you should double up on the weight since youre not tossing it, but it was insane so i switched to just one and was still tough, any thoughts?
