Hey there quick question. Are you permitted to put the weights down between the exercises or does every round have to be unbroken? Thanks

Comment #13 - Posted by: Erik 34 | M | 72" | 100kg at February 13, 2011 6:16 PM

#5 Corey,

I am pretty sure you have to do each round unbroken...that is, without putting the weights down. If you click on the "compare to 100505" link there is a video of Rob Orlando doing it and he considered a round a "fail" if he dropped the weight during a round.

Comment #14 - Posted by: sam_r at February 13, 2011 6:17 PM

Funny! Cinca de Mayo is one of my favorite traveling WOD's. I did this in the gym of the resort on Friday.

25-30-35-40-45 (F)

Added Standing DB Row after DL for 5 exercises in each set. Couldn't get the press with 45#, but 40# is still a 5# PR.

What is with all the negative reactions/comments about pictures on the mainsite. People all bent out of shape baceause you have 2 girls in a tree or the backs of girls with no shirts on. People saying they will never be back if the pictures don't change. Really? If people are going to hate on some then we are better off with you leaving this site. Lets focus on working out and not what picture they put up.

Special thanks to Todd, Kelly, and Connor for the awesome good coaching at the CFK cert at CrossFit Decatur this weekend. Although I've enjoyed all of the certs that I've been a part of I, especially, recognize the value to this certification in terms of the overall contribution to society and the potential impact on the lives of future generations. Not only that but we got to play games to boot!

There are far too many men topless in these pictures, this is an outrage, I can't come back here because my 34 year old daughter comes here and this will corrupt her and show what a bad parent I am for not monitor her online activity on the computer and internet I pay for. I'm believe this is very pornographic despite nothing sexual at all going on in the picture but I don't care cause they're naked and that's not natural, for a human to not be covered by artificial man-made material.

W/U: "Sweatin' to the Oldies" (40min) by Richard Simmons...to prep my lower back for work in a cold garage :^)

Heaviest dumbbells I have are 20's, so I added a few movements...again, for my lower back...

Five rounds of:
5 Dumbbell deadlifts
w/ 4 ab wheel crunches
5 Dumbbell hang cleans
w/ 3 BOSU burpees
5 Dumbbell push presses
w/ 2 TGUs, each side
5 Dumbbell squats
w/ 1 Sun Salutation

20-20-40-40-40

Nice WOD...really brought out my weaknesses in grip and wrist strength.

Well the whole team was back together again today...
The "Varsity" and Dave... as every team needs someone to carry the water.

A good performance by all today.

LT Abi started at 35 and finished at 55, and was cheering on the rest of us
to do more while training two other folks in the gym, nicely done.
LTC K had 40-50-65-70-70 a solid effort there and a chance to realize it
takes some form on those cleans or boy do they get heavy.
The Good Col- had 40-45-50-55-60
CDR A- certainly felt timid from last time, but finished with
40-50-55-60-70, with not a lot of rest so he could catch up with LT A and
the Good Col.
Of course the Good Col did 3/4 of a 6th rnd after Anderson did 70, at 70,
because he just couldn't let it go and get beaten...got to love the
competiveness.
LT Corbin-, did DL and Press, more weight than anyone else in the gym and
made it look easy.

The audible was a short jog off base for the Good Col to try out his new
shoes. It was a good jog to shake things out and avoid horse dung. I am
not good at jogging so I need to do more of it.
Time was 18.08, avg HR was 71%, peak HR was coming up the hill at 84%, cal =
324.

A good day to get the "Band back together". Well done and Happy Valentine's
Day.

40's - the largest set I have
then a bar: 105 - 115 - 125 -135

Great WOD, and I know that those same weights would be far dicier split into dumbbells or kettlebells

It is hard to hold the weight for that long. I did HPCs which worked better for me. I thing the Squat is the hardest part, the DBs are difficult to hold while performing that movement.

Another great workout! I convinced a friend to try out Crossfit with me, and this was her first workout. We did it a little different though, we used heavier dumbells for the deadlifts and squats.

My results are:
Hang clean and push press: 25-30-35-40-45
Deadlift and squat: 45-50-55-60-65
Time: 20:07

My friend only completed 3 rounds, though, as she ended up puking and wanted to quit. I told her that puking is a sign of a good workout and that she should continue, but she was concerned about the blood in the vomit. PUKIE FTW!!

On the road and in a hotel. Dumbbells only went up to 50. Warmed up with a round of the 20's.

WOD was going to be 30-35-40-45-50. After the first round with the 30's, I couldn't count them in good conscience as part of the WOD. So I did 35-40-45-50-50. After the last 50's, I felt guilty about the 35's. So, I added another round with the 50's. In total, the workout looked like this:
20-30-35-40-45-50-50-50

Rested about 1-2 minutes between rounds. Didn't put the weights down within any round.

WOD #37 - Was looking forward to this WOD today, until I realized on my first set that could not squat with the clean nor do regular squats with the dumbells in the rack position. Was losing the weights or ready to tumble forward even with the lightest load. Finished the WOD just cleaning the weight without the squat, then did the normal squats as kind of a sumo deadlift. Any ideas how I can improve this?

Good WOD, push presses were definitely the hardest part.

Only have dumbbells running up to 45, so used a bar. Dumbbells would have been harder

Stretched,

1 30 foot rope climb

3 sets
-of PVC Over Head squats
-1 muscleup into 10 ring dips
-5 bar squats of 135 lbs

WOD: as px; 45,50,55,60, & 65. Last 2 sets had to broken up into 3 parts. Too tired to do squats.

Comment #207 - Posted by: GWW5/46/m/200 at February 15, 2011 9:34 AM

I didn't have dumbells for this one. Unfortunate. Went with a barbell.

Had to push press from behind the neck so I wouldn't put the bar down between reps. Pretty good workout. I'll have to find some dumbells next week and repeat.

As Rx:
35 lbs
45 lbs
55 lbs
60 lbs
60 lbs (I did only 4 PP for a total of 19 reps in the last round)
After the last round I did a few extra Push Presses with 60lbs dumbells.
The push presses were the hardest by far. I held the dumbells with palms facing me for the front squat, because the dumbells were really awkward to hold.
I can remember the last time I did this WOD, and even the last two times I did this WOD and I never really killed me to try to never put the weights down.. this time I did and I think I used a little bit lighter weights, but went unbroken for all sets. I have to admit that some of my push presses weren't the most perfect with total lockout, but they were pretty good overall, and I'll just have to work at my push presses a bit more I guess. I think sometimes for me it's the WODs that actually tell me where to concentrate my next weeks of efforts... I mean if a WOD reveals that you're really weak in one area, you should work on that area.
Good WOD.

Dropped the weights halfway through the 75's, but picked them up and finished. Was really doing dumbbell thrusters more than push presses; those push presses were a bear!

Me: 44yo/M/5'10"/183lbs/15%BF

Warm Up: Greg A's Warm Up + Bergener Warm Up. + this WOD with 30lbs and 40lbs.

WOD: 45-50-55-60-65

The 65lb set was interesting. The 5 dead lifts were easy but I crashed on the first hang clean, I missed the rack with my right arm. I regrouped and did the 5 hang cleans then had to regroup again for the push presses and the squats.

The 60lb round was a gasser, like after a tough 400m sprint with a guy you need to beat.

For clarity, the hang cleans were full squat hang cleans

Cool Down: another set of this WOD with 35lbs.

Have Fun, Train Hard,

Billy
