Thank you for showing them what is possible, a lesson that will stay with them their entire lives.

For once, 95lb thrusters, my biggest weakness, felt easy. First round did 7 135lb thrusters and 8 115lb thrusters all else as rx'd. Took a little more than 20 minutes. Weighted pullups were not too hard. Thrusters were smooth and fluid. First round was hardest only because of 135lb thrusters. After that, everything went smooth and I had to break up the sets very little.

In reference to yesterdays post.

I have been battling with my agency to get Crossfit as the standard pt program and today we took a huge step back in the progress I have made with the administration. Don't get me wrong great pic I have no problem with this in my home. However it created a lot of speculation and dought to day when this poped up. Coversations about appropriate and inappropriate were heated and drawn out. Unfortunetly due to the media in today's post We took 10 steps backwards which took years to gain.
Please relize that some of your athletes have to work within the confindes of the federal government.
Today I am deeply sadened and extremely frustrated at the oversights of HQ.

Good day so far, at the early shift we had Looney, Knellinger, and
Anderson.

Looney went first, amid the wash and turbulence of the WT room at 1130.
Folks were smart to just go around him.
The Col proudly proclaimed," This is as prescribed, no scaling here, make
sure you note that."
"Roger that!"

The first rnd of 135lbs thrusters were in 8 and 7, pretty good. The wtd PU
went in 7,5,3.
The next rnd of thrusters was in 4 chunks, and PU I think in about the same
numbers.
The last rnd was simply just as painful to watch as it was to do. The wt
was light but getting more than 8-10 each pass was tough. As I had not done
the wkout yet I didn't fully appreciate it. The Col then got on the bar and
kipped pretty well in a similar pattern of about 7 or 8 each time...final
time ....21.07.

Coming off the IR, sick yesterday, we had Dave.
He tried moving the 135 thruster, put it down and went, "yah, that's not
going to happen."
So his scale was
21 thrusters at 95 lbs, 21 at 95, and 36 at 65 lbs.
For PU, his goal was unwtd PU at 36-30-24...
He got the first two rnds, then after waiting for 1 min for a poser to get
away from the mirror infront of the PU bar, called it good....19:40.

For Anderson,
Thrusters at 135 x 15, pounded the first 10, kept wt in the "rack" then got
the remaining reps one at a time.
For the wtd PU, 10 and 5. Time at end of 1st rnd = 2.12 at 70% HR.
2nd rnd, at 95 thrusters, set of 11, put bar down, got 10 next. Then wtd
PU, 10,10,1. Time for 2nd rnd 3.38 at 75%.
3rd rnd, lug nuts were getting loose, could only get 10 per rnd of the 65
lbs thrusters, then walk a little for 10-10-10-6. Then the PU were 18-10-8.
Rnd 3 = 4.40 at 75%. Total time of 10:30. Avg HR was 74%, pk was 79%, cal
= 200, delta HR was 34 beats.

Col Looney almost met his goal of "trying to just get done in under twice
the time you do. That is what I did with Fran and this looks a lot like
that."...missed it by 3.5 seconds. I am sure they could have been found
somewhere.

Line of the workout...as I am dying doing the thrusters 3rd set a guy walks
upto Col Looney as he is standing in the sqt rack, counting my reps for me,
where I am planning on doing my last set of pullups,...

"Hey can I get on the rack?"
"No. Only when this guy is done."
"But he's doing that stuff (thrusters and feeling near death) and I need the
rack."
"No, when he's done!" Add in the Col stare meaning,"WTF numbnuts, didn't
you hear me the first time and I am not moving, piss off."
The guy took two steps back and waited quietly until I was done.... thank
you Col.

Yep this one snuck up at the end, those last set of light thrusters really
emptied the tank. All in all though, a solid effort all around... We will
see what the final scores are when Team Dryden cranks this afternoon.

Starting 2nd month back on CF with "Active Recovery Week." So, did not do today's WOD (the thought of 72 PUs, half weighted, sealed the deal).

Worked on improving technique/feel for Olympic lifts: hands-overhead body weight squats toes 4" from wall; dowel OHS; bar-only cleans/catching in deep squat. Bunch of GHD SU/back extension dyads. Functional/dynamic stretches. Lots of time between stations to keep HR down. Ended with hot/cold shower cycles.

Right around where I thought it would be, although starting the last round I thought I might beat it by a bunch. Turns out the last round is pretty brutal.

135# thrusters were a lot harder than I wanted them to be. Weighted pullups felt pretty easy at first, but when they got hard they got REAL hard. No kipping on the weighted pups.

Hello Coach, Dave, Tony, and Staff,

I am a crossfitter here in Jacksonville FL, @ crossfit Southside now. I was a member of Crossfit St. Augustine up untill I had enough!! Crossfit St. Augustine has sent the majority of there members to collections. Why? those members picked up there gym bags to never return to that box ever again. The individual who owns the facility is lets just say in a nice way "A Jerk" who has taken the crossfit name and twisted the hell out of its, programming, coaching, scaling, COMMUNITY,and Fun!! The people of st. augustine deserve a real crossfit experience and right now they are back at worlds gym, YMCA, school gyms slugging it out with the hopes they will one day have a box to call there own.

Thank You for your time!

Did this workout on Monday. Jogged on the treadmill for about 4 mins to warm-up then did one round of the crossfit warm-up (light on the pull-ups).

I modified the workout to:
95 lb. Thruster, 15 reps
15 pull-ups, 55 lbs. assistance
65 lb. Thruster, 21 reps
21 pull-ups, 85 lb. assistance
45 lb. Thruster, 36 reps
36 pull-ups, 115 lb. assistance.

Finished in 31:24.

I really felt the difference in strength and firing pattern on the pull-ups between my right and left side in the last 12 pull-ups. I was at full extension and as I started back up, I was able to fire the right side more appropriately and could tell it was a little weaker. Interesting.

stopped weighted pull-ups after 10 reps - RT bicep sore

Comment #301 - Posted by: greg 39/6'3"/217 at February 7, 2011 4:29 PM

2/7...23:22...164/173
Thrusters: 105# x 15, 75# x 21, bar x 36
P/U's: 25# x 7, 10# x 11, bodywt. x 18
Weights & reps not impressive but 164 avg. HR was pretty good. First back to back WOD's in months I think. Long way to go but one step closer.

Scaled it way too much, but am still sore from yesterday, so I'm okay that I'll still be able to move tomorrow.

Time is just a guess based on what songs were playing; my watch actually stopped during the first set. Nonetheless, I liked this WOD. Good superset-type exercise selection.

felt slow. took a couple days off to let my rear delt area heal up. I think it is my teres major(?) from too many knees-to-elbows, chest to bar pull-ups on an odd pull-up bar and clean and jerks w/out a good warm-up

Disapp overall. Thrusters not too bad. Need to shorten & reduce breaks next time. Can't kip on PU because box is in the way.
