RIP Captain Barrett God Bless

God bless you "BULL" this ones for you man.
I'm on it!!!!
Capt Barrett, thank you for a job well done. Rest easy, you have more than earned it. Your fellow brothers and sisters in arms will carry on with your shord and shield in honor. You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.
RIP Bull... we got the watch
Semper FI skipper, god bless your family this, and all holiday seasons!!! my pre new years res is going to be to smash this WOD as hard as possible!!!
merry christmas to the Captains family, and Semper fidelis
Gy P
Time to work off some CHRISTMAS TURKEY!!!!
There are always people complaining about the range of motion and form, well i'm gonna do the opposite by pointing out that Kevin Montoya had a very good range of motion on those overhead squats, great job !!
Bull, you gave your life for God and Country. I will perform tomorrow's WOD thinking of you. When I feel like quitting, I will remember that you didn't quit. Tomorrow i will draw inspiration from a real hero!
May God bless his family tonight and bring them peace.
Large degree of thanks to HQ for continuing to put a face to the sacrifice that is being made every day by our brave troops who are in harm's way, their families who persevere without them while they are away and of course endure the pain when they are lost by whatever means. I know many of you who read this board are enlisted or are close to or related to enlisted men and women. Many of us (like myself) are not, and most if not all of our exposure is via a quick video clip on the nightly news or a brief exchange of gratitude in an airport or some public function. It's poignant and saddening to look briefly into the eyes of a fallen warrior and to try for a nanosecond to understand what they contribute to our lives and honorable to be able to perform the simplest of gestures in their memory.
Whether or not you agree with the concept of war in general or in this specific instance or how it is waged, it is undeniable that the world would be a far different and scarier place without them.
Thanks to all of the U.S. military service men and women and those from other countries who serve by their sides and to all their families who, by their service and sacrifice, continue to provide us with the ability to celebrate the holidays in relative peace and freedom. The greatest Christmas gift ever!
Thanks to HQ for bringing it home.
God bless you all and come home safe and soon!

RIP brother. you are missed!
Any suggestions on how to keep your wrists from breaking on the 100 reps of 135 lbs overhead squats?
^ you can tape them like chris spealler did in the power clean/ring handstand pushups workout (event 3) in the 2010 games.
Any suggestions on how to keep your wrists from breaking on the 100 reps of 135 lbs overhead squats?
good lord this truly is a workout for someone nicknamed "bull"
RIP man.
This looks terrible, but is nothing compared to what Bull did for me and my family. I'm going to do it for him tomorrow. No one but the Crossfit community understands that.
Kevin Montoya you post the greatest videos because I can always relate to the mindsets of pain endurance that you so vividly manage to paint in the commentaries!
WOW! Just watched the video of Kevin in first and it really inspired me:) Great Job man.
RIP M.Barrett
I'll do this Workout soon with all the mental toughnest that i have!
Holy $#!%, one hell of a work out for a Captain in the Marines who's nickname is "Bull".

REF POST # 3 "too many HERO wods"
Are you serious? You should be thankful that these brave soilders, marines, sailors, airmen, police officers and firemen are out there serving their country and communities. Please don't disrespect any HERO WOD. They are meant to remember our fallen heros and the families of these heros. Just do the WOD and maybe dig down deep and draw some inspiration from them..as the majority of the crossfit community does. Thanks

C SUM,
I think he meant "too many hero wods" as in, it's unfortunate to see so many fallen heros. So he would to see less Hero Wods because that would mean less of our troops are losing their lives for us.

Just started hearing about this Crossfit workout and began checking it out over the last few days. I am 53 YOA 6'3" tall and weigh 300lbs. I have dabbled in weight training for years and started grappling a year or so ago. I took first place in my first tournament, so now I'm kinda hooked. Any grapplers out there using Crossfit? I have a bunch of dumbbells and an olyimpic bar so I think I'll start doing some of these crossfit workouts. Any pointers will be welcome!

Run 1 mile: 16 laps in gym = 7.10
1 rnd = 23.18.
DU groups of 20-30 mostly then a break. So I was OK with that.
OHS were killers, had to dump it twice, but once caught my breath and got in rhythm, did last 30 in reps of 10, first 20 thought it took 4 reps to get there. Amazing how the OHS also took it out of my PU. Got off the bar 4 times to get to 50, thought I would go 30-20. Oh well, so it goes.
My splits on the run got faster each lap of 4, so that was a good thing.
Called it after 1 rnd as didn't want a sore back for skiing with kids the next day, the OHS would have been the end of me.
Worked form drills for Oly lifts with Knellinger clan. All in all a good day.
RIP Brother

DU not too bad. Jumping tech terrible for sure. Felt like hand positioning good. Much easier when handles mostly parallel to floor. Able to string 10 together regularly, sometimes 20. Didn't think much about big chest.
115 OHS much easier when I focused on traps in ears.
PU bad on first set. Had to use swingset. Therefore grip terrible. Better on 2nd when I could use reg PU bar.
Used hips better on 2nd run. Helped w/fatigue.
Scaled 65 ohs
Did wall ball shots instead of pull ups
Did 150 double unders on the 2 nd round!
