Merry Christmas Crossfitters!!!

Thank you so much, HQ, for posting that video from Tanya on being pregnant. It is truly encouraging to hear from such an elite athlete who is going through what the rest of us Crossfitting preggo girls are feeling.

My Christmas greeting, courtesy of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, "An Old City Bar"...

If you want to arrange it
this world, you can change it
if we could just make this whole
Christmas thing last.

By helping a neighbor,
or even a stranger.
To know who needs help
you need only just

ask.

With a heart bursting with thanks for all that you have given me these last 5 years, Merry Christmas.

Darrell

I did not read the whole thing because it was too long... I agree with some and disagree with some, but people can complain about crossfit all they want, if you don't like it just don't use it.

Personally, I couldn't care less of how metabolism conditionning really works, I do crossfit because it's fun, and it makes me bigger, stronger and faster EVERY DAY and I can workout at my home. Also, the website is free and anyone is free to follow it or not, or customise it. Of course there are risks of injuries, even rhabdo, but we all know that don't we? I'm willing to take the risk of being injured, BUT i'm also doing everything I can so it doesn't happen, I always think about safety first. Is the winner of the games really the fittest man on earth? It depends on your definition of "fitness", but honestly, why care?

We are blessed in many, many ways. This community is just one of them! :)

Comment #18 - Posted by: Jeff D - m/38/5'10"/205 at December 24, 2010 9:35 PM

Read all that thread (at least 90% of it). It's not very coherent. Why does that guy spend so much time on it? I doubt it is altruism.

All I know is that after two years of working out 5 times a week in my own garage. I am:
Faster and stronger almost every time.
I am a better doctor.
My feet, knees, back, shoulders, hips don't hurt anymore.
I can work heavy labor all day and shrug it off.
I don't get severe colds anymore.
My physique is like I never knew it could be.
I am confident that I can match any physical challenge that I encounter (within 99.9%ile)
I'm now way leaner and lighter and stronger.

So whatever they are all beefing about I can just say CF has worked wonders for me. If there is something better bring it on. Put it on a free website with content to teach me how it's done.

Gad, if there is something better it's got to be something like a radioactive spider bite 'cause I'm damn good now.

Comment #19 - Posted by: Thatcher M/43/5'10"/200 at December 24, 2010 9:36 PM

... I've always been interested in fitness. Before CF I was into adventure racing as an age grouper. So running and biking. I knew I was missing the strength portion of fitness at the very least but didn't know how to approach it. I didn't like what I saw in the gyms. I went to Gene Allen's box one day and watched normal people doing amazing feats of functional movements and I thought, "This is it. This is how to get the fitness that I need." It worked. I didn't get rhabdo, my shoulders didn't rip out of their sockets. Injury is part of every sport but not part of every sportsmans experience.

Comment #20 - Posted by: Thatcher M/43/5'10"/200 at December 24, 2010 9:44 PM

If there is something better. It doesn't even have to be free just show me where it is. Someone, show me where it is. One of you trolls, post it, where do I look for better training? I know there are other similar sites. Mountain man or seal fit or whatever. I want to know what I can do, in my garage for one hour 5 days a week and be noticeably better and safer. Those are my constraints. I'll pay. Show it to me. If you can make me better (or just as good) and make my DOMS go away then I'll pay BIG.

I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I think about all those liberal/marxist/socialists out there right now sitting in their underwear at the computer in their mom and dads basement scratching their heads in bewilderment after watching the Hans Rosling video. For years they have been regurgitating the left wing lie that wealth and prosperity is unfair, how often do we hear the liberal mantra "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" but it just does not stand up to the hard facts of reality. As is clearly demonstrated in the video the fact of the matter is as the rich get richer the poor get richer as well.

Merry CHRISTmas

Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for posting the Robert Frost poem, one of my favorites :)

Comment #37 - Posted by: Chris T at December 25, 2010 7:31 AM

Victor: Merry CHRISTmas. I see what you did there. Clever. Those marxist and liberals will never figure it out! And if they do, I`m sure that warm fuzzy feeling will come back when they shake with rage in their underwear!

Anyhoo, didn`t have a very crossfitty Christmas here. My inlaws don`t live near a crossfit-friendly gym. The only one nearby is what I like to call a "pretty person`s gym."

You know the type. Hoop earrings, caked on make up, caked on hair gel, no one is sweating and there are about 10 machines to one free weight. I couldn`t find a box to jump on anywhere, and one of the workers there told me to not rest my weights on their nice laminated wooden floor. Good times.

But! Still a wonderful time of year, no? Merry Christmas everyone, and a happy new year!
