90 GHDs in 4 minutes? that's just insane...

Is there a way to do the GHD situps without hurting your lower back? I get a sharp pinch on each rep.

I heard a rumor that Dave Lipson's cheat meals consist of bumper plates.

And by "heard" I mean "made up".

Dude is a monster

Comment #7 - Posted by: Kenny at December 13, 2010 5:52 PM

Ummmm.... 140 Kg is 308.6 lbs, not 315.

Comment #8 - Posted by: Math Wizard at December 13, 2010 5:53 PM

Awesome peak at the real Rob Orlando. On a side note...I'm com'in home to the northeast Bobby!! We can reignite battles like when optimus prime fights megatron in revenge of the fallen!...but with crossfit workouts.

Mikko is a beast....

Comment #10 - Posted by: Nathan Hunter at December 13, 2010 6:02 PM

Mikko is amazing. and way to go Leah, representing the ATL region!

I am looking forward to this one. My calf is still tweaked from a few days ago so glad it's not a running or double under or box jump WOD> This will be fun at 8:00 am, temp is supposed to barely break single digits - in the garage.

140kg x 2.25= 315lbs

Comment #14 - Posted by: Cory at December 13, 2010 6:34 PM

Cory, it's 2.2 from kilos to pounds, not 2.25. But the weight on the bar looked like 315 pounds, so I believe that's what he did.

Comment #15 - Posted by: paul at December 13, 2010 6:37 PM

#13

1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds , not 2.25

Comment #16 - Posted by: Math Wizard at December 13, 2010 6:54 PM

Good job wizard my mistake, don't know why I thought it was 2.25....oh well

Comment #17 - Posted by: Cory at December 13, 2010 6:59 PM

Cory, easy mistake to make.

For anyone who uses Kilos in the gym, but like me is born and raised on pounds here is the easiest way to do some quick mental math to get you bang on (well, leaving out the 0.00462262, but that doesn't count for a lot)

Take your weight in kilos (e.g. 85 kilos) and multiply it by 2 (85 x 2 = 170). Now take 1 tenth of that answer and add it to the product of your kilos x 2 (170/10= 17 + 170 = 187). This will give you tonnes of accuracy. Done on a calculator 85 kg = 187.39 lbs, so not too shabby for some easy mental math.

Eg: 140 kg = 280 + 28 = 308 lbs
200 kg = 400 + 40 = 440 lbs

John Comment #16 - Voltaire would have made a lousy conservative. You need to study history a little closer. Start with the flag burning debate. Then you can read up on Valerie Plame Wilson. You have any examples of progressives oppressing speech?

Comment #22 - Posted by: bonkz32 at December 13, 2010 8:07 PM

Also, what's the track that is on during Rob's workout highlights in that Throwdown video? Those riffs are f'ing amaaaaazing. Also, Miko is definitely awesome as well.

I've been watching all this stuff with Miko, and it just struck me, "Wow, he just seems like a really solid guy." Obviously he's a beast, but I mean he seems like a genuine, kind, fun guy. Good to see model athletes who are also upstanding people, which seems to be a crossfit trend.

Comment #25 - Posted by: chris137 at December 13, 2010 9:10 PM

brewster #22 - the demo videos are a big help. Your right about the air squats, but other times, as in this instance, the movement is given but you are to determine your own weight. You could go lighter and do the workout really fast, or go heavier and take more time on it, up to you.

Comment #26 - Posted by: chris137 at December 13, 2010 9:14 PM

Happy with this one, tried to sprint through after watching Mikko's demo. I thought the deads would get me and the situps would be easy, turns out it was the other way around.

Also, Dave Lipson cannot be human. I will not believe it.

Comment #35 - Posted by: THolm at December 14, 2010 12:35 AM

@comment 22

"Progressives" opposing free speech? Sure. How about the abortion protesting cases? See, e.g., Madsen, Frisby, and/or Hill v. Colorado.

Those cases would likely have come out differently were the protesting against the war, or union protesting.

And unlike Texas v. Johnson (flag-burning), in those cases, speech lost in the end.

The current Supreme Court is mostly conservative, and also fairly speech-protective.

O Lord our God, help us tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it.

I did this workout on Monday, 3/28/11 due to my sprained wrist. I rode the bike for a 5 min. warm-up. Then I did one round of the CFWU plus push-ups, lower ab holds, TRX Y, T, and reverse Y, and TRX OH squats.

My workout was 3 rounds of:
10 deadlifts at 185 lbs.
30 unanchored sit ups

I finished in 9:42.

I wore my insert today. It felt funky walking around without it. My toe held up well and my wrist is still sore. I went light on the dips. I did 5 normal pull-ups and 5 assisted at 40 lbs.
