#1 Mark Lee it was a 1:49 on Oct 26 2006. Brett Marshall set the bar pretty high. I'd like to see Speal's attempt.

Man, I SO wish I had posted yesterday. I called this around 10AM on 11/24.

Brett Marshall's WOD is truly epic; worth a look.

Also worth a look is the discussion about scaling this, both how and why, on the "compare to" link.

"Jackie", "Helen", and now "Diane" as our Thanksgiving present from Crossfit. Pretty cool.

Comment #4 - Posted by: bingo at November 25, 2010 5:19 PM

I don't know about the guys times which is the fastest but for the girls there is a video of Becky Conzelman in April 1st 2010, her time 2:08, I think that's one of the fastest video I've seen someone doing Diane, I thought I share.

Thanks for the WODs videos HQ keep them coming.

Have a nice one everyone.

Looking at the photo, does anyone else see what looks like a cord hanging down from Matt's backpack and appearing to go around the neck of the child hanging on to his feet? Hope it's not just me.

Comment #14 - Posted by: JohnB at November 25, 2010 7:34 PM

#14-JohnB; I think it's the ties from the backpack hanging on either side of the kid's face. I though the same thing and had to look closer.

What you are seeing is the strap to the hood on the carrier. An NO, it is not hanging my son. My heels are digging into his sides though. He didn't like that part very much. My sons were perfectly safe the whole time.

HSPU question about technique any advice would be greatly appreciated, like say from the people in the vids, other coaches, or KStar...

In the vid of Mike G, he's got his hands/fingers pointed out, away from his body. Is this the preferred technique for speed. I've been doing them hands close and fingers pointed toward the wall (back against wall). It seems killer on my triceps and anterior shoulder and seems to tap very little of the larger traps muscle... Any thoughts. I guess I could also just go and try each and see what works best for me...

Think if you're in a competition situation or going for an all time PR on any WOD this form is borderline acceptable as long as the ROM is reached but hoping this is not the way anyone approaches all their WODs b/c your body, more specifically your lower back, won't hold up if you don't at least approach good to great technique for 80% of all the WOD's that you do... But those are just my thoughts...

6:18 rx. Strict hand stand push ups. Last time I did Diane I did kipping hand stand push ups and finished in 4:14. I could probably do this well under 4:00 if I allowed myself to kip today, but strict hand stand push ups are a weakness of mine so no more kipping for me. Deadlift was cake, but really burnt out on the hand stand push ups.

My HSPUs are pretty bad when it comes to endurance. DLs were not a problem.

Started as Rx'd, shoulders burnt out on the last round and switched to regular push ups because I about cracked my head on the concrete.

11:08.
Maybe this isn't a good WOD todo after a solid day of military presses.

M/39/185/5-10

Diane"

21-15-9 reps of:
225 pound Deadlift
Handstand push-ups

today 02 Dec 2010.
DL were 15,6-10,5-9
HSPU head to deck, no pad
9,4,3,3,2- 3,3,3,3,3- 3,3,2,1
Time of 9:53. So similiar time as when I was using a pad, so getting slowly better, still a weakness but not quite so bad. Can work on more during warmups.

From 22 Dec 2009...
Deadlift was 21, 10-5, 9
HPSU were 11-6-4,6-4-3-2, 3-2-2-2
used 2" pad under head.

Final Time was 6:30.. a new PR by 3 min!
Great improvement on the HSPU as the DL were about the same. HSPU is clearly not strength of mine but no longer a weakness. Good to see the work pay off.

Last effort in Sep shown below
DL were 21-12,3-9
weakness in HSPU.
Used 2" hard pad under head.
sets were 6-5-4-3-2-1, 4-3-3-2-2-1, 3-2-1-1-1
Time of 9:30.
So not bad but HSPU weakness clearlyexposed.

6:55 pr
(last time I was at 8:10)

Still losing time on the walk between stations (about 20 sec each way) and a bit on "resting" in between, but more speed on the DL's helped.

HSPU were broken - strung 15 together on the first round and it was downhill after that.

Quite winded, but not quite hurting after this.
