Given options of:
1)"shallow" HSPU, 1/3 - 1/2 way
or
2) lowering head to floor, then just standing up to re-kick to wall
which would be the better way to sub HSPU?
Thanks.

RIP Blake.

It's nice to see kids running around in the gym when Heather is doing the wod. My kids got yelled at for running around OUTSIDE of the gym when I was working out tonight and it pissed me off! Aren't kids supposed to run around?! I guess that is why there is an obesity epidemic these days. What ever you do don't let your kids run! They might fall down and hurt themselves.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Ian Carver - CrossFit Centurion at November 12, 2010 9:45 PM

@ 9 I would do slow negatives, i.e. lower yourself slowly. For people trying to get pull-ups, the negative is the part that builds the most strength so I would figure that to be the case here as well.

Comment #24 - Posted by: Mike Hollister at November 12, 2010 9:58 PM

Does Malleolo ever wear anything else than that white Skins T-Shirt and the Skins leggings?...

Comment #25 - Posted by: Harry at November 12, 2010 10:24 PM

I mean he was wearing them on the Nancy WOD demo from yesterday, all the time during the Rogue vs AF Throwdons etc, i mean come on...

Comment #26 - Posted by: Harry at November 12, 2010 10:26 PM

Dave never did a crossfit workout in his life. this is lame. you're exploiting his death.

Comment #27 - Posted by: chutingstar at November 12, 2010 10:31 PM

man, i wish there were more events with the Rogue vs AF showdown! i already miss watching them.

Comment #28 - Posted by: Sam at November 12, 2010 10:59 PM

Would those box jumps fly at the games? Where's the extension of the hips? Maybe we're too strict at my box, but not many of those would have counted... Please correct me if I'm wrong Austin...

Comment #29 - Posted by: Scheetz at November 12, 2010 11:18 PM

Austin only did 29 box jumps in his last round unless he counted the one when he stumbled if the box and I'm nearly sure that shouldnt count.
It seems that the Crossfit standards seem to be slipping for faster times in the videos be posted now a days.

Comment #30 - Posted by: Jonny Smut at November 12, 2010 11:40 PM

Comment #32 - Posted by: Rich V M/25/190cm/81kg at November 13, 2010 1:15 AM

Who passed out all the Haterade today.
@9 of the two options, negatives would be better, but using a box to reduce the load and preserve the movement and range would be best.
@27 perhaps it doesn't matter if Dave did CF. He still deserves to be remembered and honored by those of us who recognize his sacrifice.
@31 watching Austins 14 minute workout , it's possible to imagine Mikko's 10 minute effort. Removing the breaks, improving transitions and speeding up the lunge could easily account for 4 minutes.

Get off the haterade!

Felt kinda beat-up coming into this WOD, but its the return of my exertion headache three steps into the walking lunge that made this the most difficult. Not sure whether it slowed me down or not, but it wasn't fun. It became less intense after R2. I'm going to continue massaging my neck and shldr muscles, hoping that that's the issue.

Done in your honor Chief McLendon. RIP.

I did one round of the Crossfit Warm-Up.

I did 2 rounds for time of:
100 ft. Walking lunge, 25 lb. plate overhead
30 Box jumps, 20 in. box
20 Wallball, 15 lb. ball
20 HSPU progressions (pike position off of a bench)

I finished this in 20:38.

I am feeling sluggish, slow, and tired after not working out for over a week and being up in Santa Cruz for the Big Sur half marathon.

Scaled the overhead lunge to 35#. This was a beast of a workout. Far more difficult than I expected. The combination of walking lunges then box jumps was particularly brutal.

I got through 3 rounds and then stopped for time.

I only had to sub a 10 lb med ball, but I throw it at a 14' or higher target. That's the heaviest ball we have until we get a 20 lb med ball.
This was a GOOD WOD. I really tend to feel it on higher rep box jumps. I love the walking lunges with weight overhead.. you really feel it, and it's a great prefatigue for your shoulders.. in this case, after the first round, your shoulders are already a little fatigued from the wallball and the HSPUs but for me it was my legs a lot more than my shoulders that I was feeling.
Finished with some foam rolling.
