RIP again to the many of my heroes, you are why I love this country

Comment #8 - Posted by: IronPrasch at October 16, 2010 7:03 PM

RIP to this soldier. I wholly respect each and every soldier who chooses to put his/her life on the line for America.

With that said. Let us not fool ourselves that the US and CIA are protecting the poppy fields in Afghanistan to gain a profit. Stay vigilant. The war on drugs is a farce.

Comment #9 - Posted by: Colin at October 16, 2010 7:32 PM

You know. . .I read a lot about , "love of country", "RIP soldier", "God Bless This and God Bless That". . . how about this one. . . .let's kill this f***ing WOD in honor of the warriors that are fighting the enemies of freedom in Iraq, Afghanistan and every where else our boys and girls are fighting and dieing for us that we are not even aware of.

Let's put every drop of sweat, sometimes blood and sometimes tissue into this workout and emit into the universe the juice that can help our American Brothers and Sisters exact revenge upon those that killed SA Leamon. Let's hunt them, kill them and show them the lack of quarter that the Fort Hood terrorist showed our brothers and sisters that day.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Tim Carr at October 16, 2010 7:37 PM

yup, you are that Guy #11, RIP Forrest, now let's KILL this WOD. I'm with Tim - #10

Comment #11 - Posted by: Fred Floberg at October 16, 2010 7:50 PM

Rip Forrest. New to crossfit is it better to take 2 hours to do this WOD and actually do the 3 rounds of 20 pull-ups or scale it back to say 5-10 pull ups and to the WOD in 30 some minuets? As of now I can do about 3-5 pull-ups? I am not out of shape I am just 6'6 240 and pull ups are a bitch!

Comment #12 - Posted by: Nicholas Sauls at October 16, 2010 9:10 PM

@ Nicholas Sauls, #12: Several options here. When I get past my pull up capacity, I'll start doing Pull downs, or negatives. Just jump up to the top of the bar, then slowly lower yourself down. Google "pull up progressions" for more options.

Comment #13 - Posted by: ARex at October 16, 2010 9:16 PM

#9 Colin: To say our LEOs in the middle east and abroad are risking their lives to eliminate drugs which is the source of 90% of the funding which fuels terrorism, and worlds largest source of narcotics into the USA is just a farce... The US spends 80 billion a year just to combat drugs, not counting the lives, like SA Leamon's which a price can never define. I respectfully request you check your facts before passing judgement on what my brothers and sisters in arms are fighting for. We are fighting for FREEDOM, not a farce.

Would it be considered cheating if I use rings for the l-pull ups instead of the traditional bar?

Comment #20 - Posted by: sarah at October 16, 2010 10:49 PM

I don't post often, but I read every day. Today I had to comment.

@Eathan, #14: I love your attitude, brother; your idealism. I'm over here just about to finish up a sandy vacation, and 95% of the days I feel the same way.

It's that 5% that bothers me, those days that I look around and wonder. Those days that I hear something that just doesn't sound/feel right.

@all: On those days, those 5% days; that's when the community on this board helps me out. When I doubt the reason why, at least I take comfort knowing that there are people out on this site (and others) saying supportive things and doing workouts that honor our fellows. So I thank you, all of you.

Keep your eyes open, your mind sharp and your body ready.

DO WORK and ON-ON!

#12 scaled pullups... New to Crossfit, 6'6", 240... Be careful on scaling with negatives on Pull Ups! You are big & strong enough to be a "rhabdo" candidate! (look it up if you dont know about it) You're probably already done... Just wanted to catch your ear! Watch those negatives in high volume & slow speeds!!! That's where the extra trauma comes from! Welcome to the family!

20 reg pull-ups--back is messed up from the deads yesterday

Any tips on the kipping for toes to bar???? I saw the way they were going at the games and I can't seem to get a handle on the swing. I'm doing every one static and it kills my hands. Wa wa wa.

ugh, I hit a mental wall so quick with this one, but climb over it and tarried on, burpees felt like a break: can't stop thinking that if I was 20 lbs lighter, this all would somehow be easier...I hope. Slight stitch/cramp while running second 800m, possibly need more hydration.

46:36. Did regular kipping pullups. I didn't think I could keep any intensity doing L-pull-ups then toes to bar and burpees too. This totally kicked my ass. I thought of quitting every step of the way. Managed to push through and just keep working.
20 pull ups
30 toes to bar
40 burpees
run was close to 6/10 of a mile each round for 3 rounds

CFWU-3. Reg except 12 pushups instead of PU 2nd. Superman. Burgener. DU.
39:22
L PU too slow. Consistent though. Mostly 3's reverse grip, 2's overhand after first 5-7 overhand.
T to B couldn't get good swing. Mental to some extent. Trouble getting all the way to bar on early swings.
Burpees not bad. Land & jump from balls of feet to reduce hip fatigue.
Decent job on runs.

did jumping L pull ups first two rounds. The rest as rx'd for first 2 rounds. Last round guy took over my pull up station so couldn't do pull ups and toe to bar, but did the burpees and run. So real time probably would have been plus 10 minutes.
