Dave Lipson is not human...
Why am I even hi-lighted with these SUPER HUMANS!!
Nice picture..."The Explosive Power of Kettlebells"
I think I can break 315 I see a new PR in my future.
Damn Dave, how the hell do you get so fricken strong?! PS, I heard you were gonna be at the Beast of the East in November, if so I cant wait to bump in to you bro!
John T., from Vagabond Crossfit
I rarely comment on here but it's incredible what Dave Lipson has accomplished...it motivates the hell out of me to strive for more
OMFG. 500# is an unbelievable amount of weight.
i hate you dave lipson...in a good way
Should be fun my legs are still sore from monday
song in LA fight gone bad video... what is it?
You know what I love about today's WOD video Re: Mr. BEAST Lipson - absolutely nobody can complain about proper technique... but wait wasn't the angle on his left pinky finger bent to much towards the left. Oh yeah, and if I didn't see it, I wouldn't believe it. Then again I say that about a lot of these insane weights and times on WODS by the GODS.
Humble words from a mere mortal
subbing Filthy Fifty tomorrow. I can handle that better than another max rep on my poor quads..OUch!
What I like even more, I think Mr. Lipson could have done a bit more weight, that 500 pound front squat went up kind of quick considering it was a 1RM load.....wow that sounds weird, 500 pounds front squat went up quick haha.
Awesome work Lipson!!
Think I'm subbing a hero wod for tomorrow. Legs are still sore from the last one. 500 is just a ridiculous weight though.
Any CFers with Crohn's disease? Would you mind emailing me your diet. I'd love some input.
David, Son of Lip,
Have you ever done any powerlifting comps? My guess is you are built for that sport. Just an idea.
I'll tell ya that Highlights from the Los Angleles area Fight Gone Bad 5 combined with Dave killin the 500 lbs front squat got me super moto. I wish I could have been a part of that

How many weight classes were there at the USAW/CrossFit event? I know Kristen, Speal and Matt are animals but how about giving some of the other athletes a little press? Was there a team competition? I didnt see any mention of who won that either.

500lbs is impressive, however, Dave's depth is very weak, and questionable, at best!
I give the guy credit for racking 500 lbs, but it's really not that impressive without the proper depth.
There are plenty of other guys out there front squatting more weight, with legitimate depth!
ed, i hope you're kidding.....

My legs are also still sore from Monday. Does it make sense then to hit them again with heavy front squats?
Hate...Hate...Hate...Nice Lift
Ed you clown. That was bang on depth. Bottom passed the crease in the knee. That would pass the USAW rules no probs. Green frigging light. Good work Dave.
Congratulations on making your goal Mr Lipson.

People get so obsessed with hamstring to calf squats.....I've heard it's best to drop the hips just below the knees, which is what Dave did. I also heard Mr. Welbourne say that I believe, another man with a big squat.

Did front squats after working the oly lifts on Wednesday. In the gym I was at, all the lifters had stopped while I made the attempt. One of the guys watching was the 105kg plus Commonwealth and Canadian Champion from 2006. It was only 100 kilos on the bar or 220 lbs but was a pr attempt for me. Question: My back squat is 385/395 on a good day and with a front squat of 315/325 shouldn't I be able to break 400 on my back squat? Everytime I go to try I fail. I squat very deep, below parallel. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Although the trend on the boards lately is to criticize technique, it is typically followed up by other people saying “sure it could have been better, but they did a huge amount of weight so it’s ok”. In this case since there are only two yahoos/trolls/jokers complaining and it is being followed up by people showing and explaining exactly how this is a legitimate lift, I think it’s safe to say it counts. Phenomenal job Dave. Ed and Danny can go kick rocks.

Right, I'm off to see if I can get close to a 1/3 of 500 with my pencil legs.
Did SealFit "Froggy" this morning. 275 on front squat. Gin back this afternoon in hopes of breaking 300! 4 rounds of Frog Complex #105 w/Frog jump chaser and one mile run toasted my legs before the front squats.

I figure a workout is successful if it registers a notch of physical improvement as well as new a new insight into technique. The lesson today was in just how high a bar has to be to keep one's form throughout the lift. No more breaking in the upper back when things get dicey, is the plan. It shows you how high a clean should be racked as well.

Dave - that lift was insane - its humbling and motivating at the same time - I think it silenced the haters !
245. Within 10-15 pounds of a two year ago PR. Just missed at 255 to a 12" box. Finished w 225 squat/hold; don't think I made 5s, but I want to work on that. Focus on knees out, maintain lumbar curve

205,205, form was bad so went down to 185 for the next 4 and 195 to finish. Pr was 135 last time. I love this! I am seeing so many gains since I have been trying to follow the paleo diet.
Quick question for the single military out there. How do you follow the paleo diet? I know some suggestions for college kids were the crock pot but I am not aloud to have that in my barracks. All I have is a microwave and fridge. I just try and keep fruit and nuts around to snack on in between eating what I can at the chow hall. Thanks.
