Let's go baby! 3..2..1...GO!
RIP, Jack.
My CrossFit/USAW Open prep is complete. 4 days till Colorado Springs! I'll be in the 85kg class.
Hard living and an active competitive lifestyle left me with Left shoulder SLAP repair in FEB 2009, Right shoulder SLAP repair in JUN 2009, and Right Gluteus Medius reattachment in DEC 2009.
I Snatched 80kg and C&J'ed 102.5kg yesterday, both are post-surgeries PRs, and combined are 10 kg away from my total PR of 192.5kg (82.5 and 110). I think can say I'm just about recovered from those 3 surgeries!
Push Press!
Just made up Fight gone bad earlier today... my kneeeeeeees!
I'll just have to have perfect position is all. Looking forward to this tomorrow! Woo!
Unfortunately, I guess I have to be the first to say. RIP and God Bless SSG Martin, your sacrifice is far more important to honor than our trivial day to day problems.
Wildman
Jack, you may be gone but you're not forgotten. DOL
Jack, we miss you friend. Your picture still does and always will grace the wall at RCF. You are our hero. RIP
Laurie, Kurtis, and your friends at Rainier CrossFit
RIP Soldier and may time do for your family what no words can.
Stacey~ you absolutely went nuts on that WOD! I thought I did really well at 80#, 1 pood, and 24" and you made me look like I sat on my rear for half the WOD with your weight loads...WAY TO GO GIRL!!
I thank you and your family for the service and sacrifice.
New to this and wondering what "pood" is?
Pood is a Russian unit of measurement. 1 pood=16.38 kg=36.11 lb.
RIP Jack.
theres a type in jack's info tho.
"Martin in survived".
Modifying this a little bit.
PPress 1.5 pood kb 10 r 10 l

I don't have any kettle bells. What can i sub for them?
RIP SSgt Martin. Looking forward to hitting this WOD hard tomorrow in your honor.
Gonna be 50lb DB Push presses and 50lb Kettlebell swings for me (such are the limitations when working out from home). Btw, I am absolutely loving my 24" plyo box, best investment ever! Throw a black sheet over it and it makes a really nice end table which can hide quite a bit of CrossFit gear.
RIP Jack
@ #15 if you don't have a KB you can use dumbbell. I will have to remember this WOD for after the mother of all blisters on my heel gets better
Go easy SSgt Martin, your enemies will be dealt with. Thanks for the Hero WOD brother and the sacrifice you gave, right there with you brother. Bustin this WOD like Abu Sayyaf in the scope, taking em down.

It is always hard to read about a fallen hero the first time a new hero WOD appears on the main site.
This one is especially tough.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley, Jack, Cheryl, Abe, Mandi, Amber and Abi. Jack will not be forgotten and he will be remembered fondly here. I am truly sorry for your loss and I am humbled by his sacrifice.

Fair winds and following seas on your journey, warrior!
RIP
Gonna be a tough one.
De Oppresso Liber and may God be with you and your family, Jack. It gives me the chills every time we honor one of our own. Even though I deal with a few trivial issues daily much like everyone else, this gives me the motivation to be a part of something much larger than myself. No matter how I feel tomorrow, I'm definitely doing this WOD in place of the one I put together. A song that I have in my head at the moment is "Civil War" by Guns N Roses.

It always touches me to see the photos of the fallen. The WOD seems so inconsequential in light of the sacrifice. My boy is a Marine, and I never want to have to dedicate a WOD to him. There are far too many already...
RIP Jack...the world is better that you spent time in it! Peace to your family as they press on...

Push presses challenged my abs more than anything else. I had to break them up before the working musculature failed because I couldn't keep my back from overextending.
I still cannot string those box jumps together, but I found out that it's way more effective to rest on top of the box rather than on the ground (rest on top, jump down and up again using the muscles "rebound").

The jury is in for me... I was challenged recently by an endurance athlete to complete a marathon in under 4:45 using only the crossfit main site workouts (the challenge was four days before the marathon). I have not run past 6 miles in the past 10 years but finally trusted the fitness of the program to take me through.
The result 4:29:40 with 0 Long Training Runs!
The race was on Sunday and I did "Fight Gone Bad" yesterday so I am fully recovered already... As if it has not been said enought - Crossfit is the definition of fitness.

These WOD's always hit me a lot harder than I think they're going to.
9 rounds today - which seemed unacceptable to honor this Hero so I rounded it out to 10.
Have to push through the fatigue, felt like I was sucking all the air out of the room.
8 solid rounds, with decent push presses - and not jerks, which are always tempting when things get dicey, and with a 62 pound kettlebell
It was definitely brutal, but the comparatively short sets made for good practice at keeping mentally focused and reaching goals.

I've been doing Crossfit for 6 months, and haven't had any low back problems until this morning.
I'm sure that two things hurt me. 1) No warm-up. It sounds stupid when I say that, but I didn't have time to warm up (honest). 2) I'm sure I arched on the Push-Presses and lost support in my lower back.

I felt the 115# push press really in my wrists. I was holding it lower than ususal in the front, but it was not hurting my wrist since I was holding the bar in a more regualr grip, and getting good transfer most of the time. I was doign 4, 4, 2 for most of my higher weight PPs. This was a good WOD. For me 115# is a little heavy for repeat 10 reps... that was by far the longest time spent and took the most out of me. CFWU-2. Shortcut so I wouldn't hold up Bob. Superman. Burgener. DU.
8 rounds + 10 PP, 10 KB.
PP not too bad. Unbroken first 2 or 3 rounds, then 7+3. Legs more bow-legged. Seemed to make it easier. More power generated from legs. Box jump easier if arms in front of body on landing.
Disappointed w/results after seeing other posts.
Rest in Peace Staff Sergeant Martin. May God welcome you, and comfort your family and friends.

Well that turned into a suckfest pretty quick. Push press was the hardest - 115 is a pretty decent weight for me. I may have accidentally jerked a couple of these (left the ground) in later rounds; I also had a couple failed reps. These were unbroken through round 6. Swings started getting tough in later rounds - my grip was really fatiguing. Box jumps not bad, but kept the heart rate jacked. I haven't done a 20-minute AMRAP for over a month. For the record, I hate them.
started with 85#, but had to drop it down
