did the tgu/ sotts workout yesterday and had a thought. if someone posts a time that is stupidly quick like 6.42, i think it should have to be put on with a video, dont know too much about rory mckernan and that is some going that quick, but people are bound to doubt it without proof, anyone spealer, mikko, holmberg etc could post that time and i would still want too se a video, its just over 4 seconds per rep if you dont put the bar down once. just an opinion interested as too what people think

#37 dan - here's the thing: it doesn't really matter. If someone's lying about their times on an anonymous message board, they're just being stupid. No one is going to think "oh my goodness so-and-so is so amazing," and idolize some random guy on the message board. If everyone knows who they are, they're just going to embarrass themselves when someone actually sees them work out. And besides, not everyone videotapes all their workouts. I think the other guys at my gym would look at me a little funny if i came and did fran with a camera running.

Agree with ericthered #46. Every now and again a new rock star really does appear. OPT and Speal literally dropped in, posted jaw-dropping times, and then showed up at a live CF thing and backed it up.

I almost didn't do this workout as for some reason I thought that in order to do 10 rounds, I'd have to do one round per minute ( but that would get me 20 rounds.) I started off and after two rounds I felt weak, hot and realllyyy not into it. I stopped, talked to my husband and realized that I was going twice as fast as I needed to.

New approach... do a round, take a minute rest and then the next... etc. This should get me close to 10 rounds and if you know you have a minute rest coming up, you can push pretty hard.

Worked for me.

CF is all about you vs you and bettering your own PR/fitness. I think it's funny that people are so concerned with what everyone else is doing and how much s#!t talking goes on on the comments page. If your a badass then you know it and it doesn't matter. Post your work and shut up unless it's beneficial to others.

Rib out from Judo randori Monday night. Still hurts, but chiro put it back in place. SDHPs far too painful to do, so I created my own workout.

Today's workout for time:

12 - 8' hands only rope climbs. Started and ended each climb sitting on the ground (3:47)
100 - Alligator pushups - alternate foot in line with hand. Chin, chest and thigh touched and left ground together each rep (6:36)
50/50 - Suples Bulgarian bag round the body swings. Got tired and a little sloppy - sent my glasses flying across the room once! (2:38)
50/50 - red band lunges with band pulled as fast as possible across shoulder down past knee (trying to replicate a Judo throw) (3:43)

16:43 total time.

How can you have a "hang" power clean? A power clean starts from the floor. I realize you want to differentiate between the typical squat clean but in order to be a power clean you have to start from the floor.

Comment #156 - Posted by: tom at September 1, 2010 3:15 PM

power cleans are not necessarily from the floor. the term power clean just stands for any clean (floor or hanging) without bending the knees past approx 45 degrees at the rack position

As rx'd, 12 rounds + 4 thrusters (PR).

Awful. This one hurt...a lot. Thrusters were fine, unbroken. HPCs got hard, I slipped out of hook grip in one of the later rounds and had to break the set - otherwise unbroken. Sumos were again the worst. These seem to almost never come up in Crossfit, and apparently I still suck at them. These were very broken, and on one rep I lost my grip at the bottom and hyperextended my thumb. Sweet.

Arms are trashed, legs are tired, and I'm just now beginning to feel back to normal. Please remind me to never do this one again!

I wish I could include the 8 Cleans I did to start each round of Thrusters.

I find myself resting far too long on many of these WOD's. I can't seem to get my breathing under control. I'm breathing so heavily that it's hard to stabilize these movements.

My other failure point is my forarms. The biggest challenge on the clean was keeping my hands on the bar.

Ridiculously fun workout.

I did this June 30, 2009 and did 7 rounds plus 5 HPC then again on Feb. 11, 2010 and did 9 rounds plus 1 SDHP ... Not a HUGE improvement since Feb. but a PR nonetheless!

As Rx'd 8 complete rounds.

This tied my PR which makes me happy. Minor glitch during the WOD. Had my boys with me in the front yard and another dog came by. Had to hold my guys even though they were on a leash line from going and visiting until the other dog and its owner were out of sight. That cost me 2:37 in time, so actual working output was 17:23.

Hats off to anyone who got 10 rounds or better! For those that got into the teens.........incredible and great job. I agree with #320, I find myself struggling on the breathing. I have to stop and catch my breath way too much. This WOD really kicked my butt. I managed to make it a little harder than it was because I did hang power squat cleans.....nonethless, very good WOD.
