Thats what I'm talking about! Rob's rockin the mt100's
It looks easy, then I note the times on there...oh boy, this is going to be tough. But I love it.
"an honest 18" above your tiptoe reach." Now you've been told.
Love it:-)
Will there ever be a lifting day ever again?
reach as high as u can on ur tippy toes to hang that 5lb plate for that 18inch jump :)
EXCELLENT Level 1 weekend at alamo crossfit in san antonio - thanks to stephane rochet and his crew for their virtuosic lecturing and instruction. I feel like I learned more about coaching and presenting the information than i have in 2 years of being a globo gym crossfitter. One point I thought was missing was the emphasis on crossfit as sport - like the old lecture video with coach talking about cindy/the motivational power of "3-2-1 Go" and ranking athletes by times or scores. I'm not really sure where it would fit in to the lectures. Still, the whole seminar was perfect and an invaluable experience.
Curtis Warren, Level 1.
that workout looks terrible
OUCH!!! I'll have nasty DOMS from 400m walking lunge & now I'll have to jump 250x's and sq 200x!!Gotta love it!!!!!
Regarding yesterday's Clash of Civilizations debate. . .I truly believe that 3 AirCraft Carrier Battle Groups and 20 mechanized divisions would take care of the "clash".
Charbs #4. I have been thinking the same thing for the last several weeks. I finally started putting in my own strength workouts in addition to the daily wods. It is kind of ridiculous lately though...
Will do. Once I am done and rested I think some heavy deads are in order. Best of luck to everyone WOD on friends.
I love Camille. There, I said it.
If you don't like the Mainsite WODs then stop whining and do a different one. I have not seen a single affiliate that doesn't post their own daily WODs on their websites.
And if you spend all your time lifting then you're missing the point of Crossfit, which incorporates track and field work, GYMNASTICS as well as weight lifting.
Go and learn to planche before you whine about no lifting.
To everyone wanting a heavy or oly day, just do it urself. No one said you have to follow the mainpage everday or add to it. I know I dont because I cant make it to the gym everyday so I WOD at home with the few things I do have. Its not bad to program for urself sometimes, you can make some pretty disgusting WODs. This WOD is going to suuuhh...be great.
DO WORK!!!
I was absolutely certain there would be deads tomorrow, that goes to show how much I know about crossfit. I love it
At CrossFit Hell's Kitchen NYC we follow the main site WOD's precisely for that reason, functional movements, constant variance, high intensity. Can't always do what we want to nor only the things we are good at.
how do the 18" jump-and-touches compare to 24" box jumps? I've never done the overhead jump and touches but seems that the box jumps would be harder, they look killer in the video though!
Question:
Where can I find those rash guards he's got on his legs?
I've actually been enjoying the consistent bodyweight conditioning. I do my own strength stuff on top of main page anyway so it's been working out well.
i'm loving your WOD's, keep up the great work. I started these about 3 months ago and i've done more pullups in that time than for my entire 35 years previous. I wish i'd discovered crossfit years ago.
@17 BrianB:
It will be different, but you most likely will have to jump higher for this than you do for box jumps. Unless you are just a stud you most likely tuck your legs to land on that box and the extend once you are on top of it. For these the tuck isn't going to do you any good and it all vertical, everytime.
I think a lot of people underestimate how hard these jumps will be in those sorta numbers. I mean, look at the times from those top competitors.
brianb #18 - i'm gonna guess the jump and touches will be considerably harder, based on this: when you box jump, you bring your legs up to the box and stand up from there. Thus, the actual jump part of the exercise only has to lift the weight of your legs plus a little of your upper body, then you stand up the rest of your weight to reach full hip extension, which is essentially just a squat. In the jump and touch, you straight up have to get all of your weight 18 inches above the ground with a jump. There is no assisting squat.

Still not fully recovered from the 400m walking lunge, so this WOD was quite the treat.
Making that jump a legit 18" makes a world of difference. DEMORALIZING is a perfect word for those jump and touch.
Overall a great workout though. Thanks Coach!
If you complain about a WOD why Crossfit? Isn't this form of exercising the reason people have switched/pick up CF instead of the boring type of work out in the gym? Any WOD will cause someone to cinch at the fact it is going to cause pain and discomfort, if you are unsure then ask yourself, "Why do I did choose Crossfit"?
"To test my innerself ability to go beyond a thresh hold of pain created by sheer intense amount of fitness that some fear to try". 3 2 1 GO
Look forward to smokin this WOD!
Kyle i can't thank you enough for turning me on to crossfit! I will never go back to old school training again! Your the absolute best trainer I've ever had and more than that your a great friend!!! Thanks for all your support and being there for me! Love ya Brigitte
For anyone still working on a deadhang muscle-up, all I have to say is to keep at it. Ive been working for almost 4 months and today I finally got a full one. Just keep doing those pullups and ring dips.
Looking forward to this workout! Gonna be an absolute killer from the lunge walk aftermath.

wow...there was me wincing at the thought of day 3 of the individual event, let alone being out there in 90 degrees plus competing against the best in the world.
Then...along comes Annie to say she wishes there had been more events, a little heavier and of longer duration!

When it comes time to do the WOD we'll all buckle down, swallow the pain, and greet Mr. Pukie like a long lost friend. Until then we reserve our right to bitch
hats off to Laurie Galassi for tackling the rx'd height on the jump n' touch :-D
now i wanna re-do this one with the rx'd jump distance.....

I wish I hadn't watched the WOD demo after seeing what it did to the Santa Cruz crew. Ignorance is bliss.
Loving the mainpage programming! Reminds me of, what's the term I'm looking for?, oh yeah, CROSSFIT
I think that crossfit should stop putting out WOD's and just have #4 and #10 draw them up. They seem to know what we need.
..... I hung a 25 lb. weight 29" above my "honest" flatfoot reach...... and, I still love Camille......(Whoa!) call me!
Honestly, I have never seen an "easy" WO on this site, that's what keeps me coming back! Thanks for changing my life HQ!
34:21
did back extensions instead of sit ups. abs still hurt from ghds i did a few days ago. everything else as prescribed
I like the photo, shows that a good sub for a 20' rope climb w/ feet is about 15 knees to elbows (assuming you're taller than 5 feet). Just doing towel pull-ups would be akin to climbing the rope without using your feet.
Ha, ha, ha - Tucker, lurking.
Mobility WOD
I'd just like to get the word out about Kelly Starrett's new awesome website - http://mobilitywod.blogspot.com/
Here's the website description:
"Every human being should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves. You know what to eat, how to train, how to perform CPR, and what to do if you have a cut; you should also know how to address your sore back, tight hips, painful knees, and stiff shoulders. It's too much to mobilize everything, all the time, everyday. Instead, take one piece at a time. The Mobility Wod should take you four to 10 minutes to complete. Do it everyday. Remember the ones that feel like a Shaman's Blow."

Good Morning Crossfitters!
I am a crossfitter and trainer from Toronto and heading to Nova Scotia (Halifax, Bristol, and Wolfville) on the 25th. I am looking for local boxes or crossfitters to train with.
Also, are there any outdoor activities you can recommend while I am there? I would love to go on a challenging hike, rock climb (indoor or outdoor) or anything that involves adventure.
Please give me a call or an email - I would love to visit! Oh, and my cottage is at Evangeline beach if anyone wants to come over on the weekend (28-29) - for a bbq!
Thank you - happy crossfitting!!

#32 Mike, for starters have you ever posted a time?.. My comment was that it is interesting that there has been a relative dearth of strength workouts over the past few weeks, which I thought, based on my last year and half of doing the main page wods, was also a key component of crossfit (I am looking at you 13, 25 and 31). My comment was less complaining and more commenting, specifically that I had begun incorporating my own strength training in addition to Crossfit.
oh yeah: 28:22 as Rxd.
Looking forward to seeing #13, 35, 31 and 32's times.

The 18" jumps were brutal and any of you out there who think an 18" or even 24" box jump would suffice are sorely mistaken. Box jumps allow for a tuck and is not a true 18"reach like these jumps are meant for. There is no hiding the vertical leap in a tuck here, if you miss your mark it's quite clear your not hitting that 18"... Great workout.

it was all about the jumps and squats.
The jumps I switched every 5 reps from left to right hand after the first 10 reps. It felt good, like it was a change up, so I was able to keep going with little rest. It got a bit better as it went.
squats were agony after the doms from the lunges fron Sunday. They were wors then the jumps in pain. But unbroken but slow and steady. I'd push here and there for a boos of speed, but they hurt.
Situps were easy and a place to get my breathing under controll.
push up unbroken and steady. They felt good. I though as the workout went on that I'd have to break them but there was so much time inbetween the sets of pushups I was fresh for them
Pullups easy, just a bump in the road.
Anyone who reads this and is going to do it. I sugest you switch hands every5 reps on the jumps and don't look down, alwasy look up at the target.

Thanks, I needed that.
highest ceiling I have is 8" above my reach...did two hand touches to make up a bit of height.
23:22
23:59 - Nothing broken but the jumps
50 14" jumps - alternating touching hands each rep
40 squats - below parallel, full hip extension at the top of each rep
30 anchored situps - fists on chest at all times, fists touched thighs before returning to ground each rep
20 pushups - strict plank position at all times with chest, thighs and chin or cheek touching and leaving ground together
10 kipping pullups
Jumping instruction from Jon Hinds at the Monkey Bar Gym definitely helped. Used arms to start the jump, bicep in ear and a stretch on the 'arm up' side made hitting the target happen without any 'do overs' (I'm known for having very little jumping ability). Thank you Jon!!

Hello all,
What's a good alternate warm up for todays WOD (being is so close to the regular crossfit warm up)?? What have you guys and gals done?
Mike
Well had a funny mishap with this WOD..well not really FUNNY. Hung the plate 14" above reach,2.5lb plate instead of 5 because thats what fit to my reach. Tied it off with heavy duty twine triple wrapped and off I went. Was moving along good starting round 3 at about 9 mins. and after 30 or so jumps in round 3, landed and had no idea it was coming but the weight fell and clocked me on the top of the head.. Felt like 20 lbs. as opposed to 2.5 but long story short, stumbled a little put my hand up there to hold it and I was gushing blood...Super pissed off I had to stop in the middle but there was blood pouring out and all down my body. Not because it was severe just because thats what scalp or head injuries do. Injury about a 2" laceration and warranted about 5-6 staples but some peroxide, steri strips, and liquid bandage should keep it closed, I hope!!! Anyway when I do it again to make it up...I'll use a paper plate, pen, stick or anything else at my reach next time!!!

Jumps weren't too bad. Tried to aim for top of welding seam at handstand wall. Think I was short of target quite a few times. Right arm easier to get higher than left.
