Dave Lipson= one of the nicest people I have met and just a beast of a human!

I think I could use him as a hiding spot if I was playing hide-and-go-seek.

AWESOME, I got a weight for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I've been dying to use it in one my work outs. It will be much better than the backpack with weights method I used before. Which by the way ripped a huge hole in it.

WG - And the Ike quotes prove exactly...what?

I also wonder how you cipher that against the fact that he authorized the CIA to overthrow the Iranian government of Mosaddegh - Iran's first democratically elected government.

How does that fit in with your quotes?

Comment #12 - Posted by: Dale_Saran at August 13, 2010 7:50 PM

I am going to miss this WOD due to competition, PR for weighted pull up back in march 14 was 115 LB. one day I will do my body weight weighted pull up, i think it is very realistic goal actually.

Do you guys argue about CrossFit on political discussion boards?

Comment #15 - Posted by: hypnotodd at August 13, 2010 8:05 PM

no one cares about your political agenda; we care about how much weight you are going to use for your pull-ups. leave your political and religious beliefs outside the box. we have no place for them here. this is a place for work not for your opinions. this is a place to better yourself.

Comment #16 - Posted by: GS at August 13, 2010 8:12 PM

WG

As evident by the immediate responses to your post, I think you came to the wrong place to randomly pluck quotes out of context to try and prove a point. While I admire your fervor, this community is not just a bunch of muscle heads or exercise crazy drones. Bottom line, you will have to do much better with this community than you're initial post. Good Luck.

How do I do weighted pullups? With a belt chain and weights or something? I don't know..

Well played, indeed, Sir/Madame. Thank you. Thanks, as well, to the moderators who stood aside and allowed the post to pass.

The Crossfit tent is large. It has room for many, for all kinds, with any and all viewpoints. The doorman asks only that one come armed with honesty leavened with kindness, and that one be aware that weak sauce of any sort will be illuminated as such.

Kinda bright in here...need shades...

BW=160
35-45-55-70-80-90-100(f) Didn't make it all the way up with 100, a few inches shy... next time!

As for the article that was posted it should be pointed out that this website almost always has a link to an article and some kind of quote; and I for one appreciate that CF looks to strengthen my mind with my body. Maybe we should all reread what it says for rest days under the articles... "Post thoughts to comments".

While this isn't a rest day that shouldn't stop someone from posting an article they think provides good food for thought; just as no one stops people from posting their stats to workouts other than the posted WOD.

There is no need to attack someone for posting an article, simply don't read. If you disagree with the article then use some reasoning to defeat it.

I for one find the article rather enlightening as we can easily see that the US has lost its way towards the peace that Ike set out to instill (and we can see how he lost his own way). As we do these Hero WODs it would be good that, while we honor our fallen, we also take a moment to wonder what we're fighting for. Had Ike's ideals succeeded we might have many fewer heroes to honor, and that is certainly worth a pause for though.

#37, g:

That's cause the standard russian swing is to chest level. The standard CF swing is up above the head which is also known as the American swing. Jeff Martone has some good videos on that in the exercises section and on youtube. Reason is it takes more snap of the hip and control to be able to get it above your head so it works out being a more athletic swing. Plus, we just lave taking things overhead around here.

Just got back from a trip out to Vail, CO and got some great shots of some handstands on top of Mt. Elbert, the highest peak in CO. I have to thank Crossfit for giving me the mental and physical strength to dominate the hike and would love to send in a handstand picture to be put on the main site. Does anyone know how to go about doing this? Thanks.

Plates in a pack. I said it last time: if you can lift more kipping, why not kip?

Nice work Wesley, Spelhaug52, and Kim.

Apparently, all that peace-talk was a tad threatening. Ike's ideas struck me as wise.

I love Crossfit: I look at my only being able to do 65lb. max dead-hang pull-up and I think, "boy I'm weak." A few years ago I would have been amazed at just being able to do this many pull-ups (with no weights) at all!

All that aside, this is a PR for me.

Get ready for some BIG weights!

Very small weights, I know. Now I'll add in my bodyweight.

182-187-192-194.5-202-202-177

That's better!

Maybe I should just lose 10 lbs. ( I was 10 lbs lighter... then I started doing crossfit.... sigh)

The pullups were fun. I'm going to insert weighted PU's more often. I am getting way more powerful on my C&J's and I'm really excited about that. 195 felt pretty light compared to how it used to. I barely had to dip to catch it (though I still rode it down past parallel). WOO Crossfit!
Also, thank you HQ for removing stupid comments that no one wants to read anyway. Just another reason I love CF.

Worked on my kipping pullups today because my dead hangs are horrible and would have just been seven rounds of me adding clothing.

As far as Ike goes, I like the quotes! Maybe just a link is good for the whole text though. Nice to work you brain in conjunction with you body. Wish we had more conservatives like him and Buckley around today, instead of Beck and his xenophobe nutjobs.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid. "

Today Sunday did the Weighted pull up WOD, I am 15 pounds short to get my body weight in weighted pull up. :) nice PR today actually

1 x 70
1 x 80
1 x 90
1 x 115 (OLD PR)
1 x 125 NEW PR
1 x 135 Failed by an inch chin didn't pass the bar but the nose pass the bar,
1 x 135 try again 135 the nose pass the bar but not the chin, miss it by less than an Inch. almost there to get my body weight weighted pull up.

Nice WOD. I am still sore from yesterday's competition here in COlorado SPrings, CO.

Did as rx with 45lb. Move up in weight next time. These were hard, but did all of them. Spent some time working on handstand pushups - long way to go, but getting better and jumping rope. Never thought that would be so hard.

I see a lot fo folks increasing the weight on pullups. is that the right way to do this or do you keep the weight the same?
