Nice Dave! I'll rock the GHD as well. Sub 5 gets dull.

Comment #1 - Posted by: JAMO at August 12, 2010 5:03 PM

I don't like this one...

Probably because I can't do more than 2 Double unders at a time...

Comment #2 - Posted by: Nick at August 12, 2010 5:04 PM

Nice Job Dave! It's cool to see you in action=)

Comment #5 - Posted by: J-F/20/155/5'9 at August 12, 2010 5:21 PM

This is a long shot and I'm not even sure this is do-able, but if anyone reading this is perchance signed up for the CF Level 1 Cert. in Novato on 8/21 and would like to switch with me to take my spot in Santa Clara (Khalipa's gym!) on 10/2, can you email me? I might have a scheduling conflict for work on 10/2 that's why. :/

Comment #6 - Posted by: DC at August 12, 2010 5:33 PM

oh ho ho, what's this, Mr. Dave Castro in action! Sweet. Good work Dave.

Now if only I could do double unders...

Comment #10 - Posted by: Pat Sherwood at August 12, 2010 6:26 PM

Dave, 150 GHD's, I bow to you. My core would be shredded if I attempted!

Comment #11 - Posted by: BillB at August 12, 2010 6:29 PM

DAMN~ GHD sit ups Dave..way to go!

I thought it was hard enough with the 2 hand touch the ground behind the head and 2 hand touching the dumbbells at the top!

Comment #13 - Posted by: Rookie at August 12, 2010 6:34 PM

I want to use this WOD to improve my double-unders. Looking forward to it!! Any suggestions for better strategy of learning? I've watched the demos, several times, so I'll apply what I've acquired from those, but if anyone can give any extra pointers it would be highly appreciated. To everyone in the x-fit community, have a safe weekend!!

I can't freaking believe my eyes. I just recently discovered this Crossfit thing and I wouldn't believe anyone could do this workout without stopping and at the intensity to finish well under 10 minutes. Thought I was in okay shape but I am so far out from even getting close to finishing any WOD - but I love it and can't stop watching.

Love the set up and use of space in the workout area too.

Jon let me borrow a jump rope and his ab mat.
I suck at jump rope - even with a nice rope. Need more work here.
Abs - could do them all, but had to take a break a few times in the middle of each set. Start timeing workouts next week.

Still can't do double unders.

50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 reps of Power jump skip rope, speed skip rope and sit ups

Total time: 10 mins 53 secs

Comment #33 - Posted by: Perry Cox at August 12, 2010 10:22 PM

These new speed skipping ropes look TOO easy!!!

GHD sit ups massively scale up the sit ups when compared to anchored abmat sit ups. Doing double unders with a crappy little kid jump rope is a major SCALE UP too.

I like my jump rope but eventually the rope gets cut at the edge of the bearing. I would prefer to buy maybe a 10 pack of the ropes without handles to save money. My handles have threaded ends so I can put weights inside to make my wrists stronger and set screws to hold the end of the rope.

Never thought I would do so much rope jumping that I would wear out the rope. twice.

Anybody got a lead on rope in bulk?

New PR despite nursing a pretty bad oblique strain that is impacting nearly every movement I make. It is going to be hard to leave this thing alone enough for it to heal. Gonna drive me crazy over the next couple weeks to not go heavy on anything! Can't do pullups either. *sigh*

As rx'd, with GHDs, 10:26.

About 4 minutes slower than my best regular Annie. This got tough in the round of 40, my hip flexors were really tired from the GHDs. Double-unders went fine, a few misses, usually at the beginning of rounds. Probably due to general quad fatigue from the GHDs.

Muscle-up practice and progressions before and after WOD.

Double-unders are finally coming more easily. I figured out how to time the jump better with the rope and not have to bend at the knees much. Saves tons of energy!

Last time as rx'ed (w/ unanchored sit-ups): 19:33

This time as rx'ed (towel on bb court): ~18
-Forgot watch so had to wait for them to announce the time on NPR. Sit-ups were more difficult than I remembered but did 15 MUs as warm-up so abs were pretty tired I guess. In any event, its progress...

I think I can finally mark DU's off my goat list. First time doing Annie as Rx'd. I could have been faster if I hadn't messed up a few times on the first set of 50.

Actually about 45s slower than last time; felt really sluggish after a week off and lots of Starbucks goodies I had gone a year without...

All true DU for first time. Last time did double, then single. Time would have been better if I could've got DU's going well initially on 50 & 40 rounds. Strung together 15 or so at times.
