There is no order for these, right? I can do a handful of each until I get 100 total by the end?
As far as I'm aware the 1st hundred must be complete before continuing to the next one etc etc. If you were to break it up such as 10 pieces of Angie for time, it would be 10 rounds of 10, 10, 10, 10, but that's to my novice knowledge :D
Also the "What is Crossfit?" Is very cool!
I really like the WOD. Great test of overall BW endurance with all major muscle groups. As far as order, I do it like I see it but I know some do 10x10x10x10 for 10 rounds.
Just to clear it up for anybody with questions.
In this workout you must complete 100 reps of the first exercise (i.e pull-ups) before progressing to the next exercise (i.e push-ups). You may not break up the exercises (like "Murph")
100 Pull-ups first then
100 Push-ups then
100 Sit-ups then
That's what makes "Angie", "Angie". Should be interesting using the new "standard" for push-ups. Looking forward to the agony.
I don't think that because taking your hands off the ground after each rep came up in the games that it means there is a new standard. Angie is a WOD and has it's own standards. We shouldn't try to add to it but then again if you break up the reps and don't complete 100 before moving to the next movement you did something; it just wasn't "Angie".
I'm very glad to see the pushups with the raised hands at the bottom. It will, in the very least, quiet those who complain about other athletes' form and quality. Looking forward to doing this when I return to Florida.
Is it weird that I'd rather do Angie than Fran? I just hate those thrusters.
Is following the mainsite going to get me to the games or should i be following opt's blog for example? What is my best chance? I wonder how many of the top 24 follow the mainsite, workouts or who they are programmed by? Any help would be awesome.
yay, I was hoping for a workout in the park tomorrow morning!! Love taking my rings to the park and freaking out the joggers and the junkies!
do the pullups straight, then the pushups, etc.. 100 of each. I actually think even the order is important, pullups ruin my pushups...
greatd wod! will the blog on crossfit.com say what days are rest days from WOD's or what do u guys do?
SWEET! I know I am breaking my PR in this one, last time when this came in DEC 31 I had a good time with this girl. :)
BRING IT COACH!
Sweet! A guaranteed PR! (First time haha)
Juan, the WODs are three days on, one day rest. Rest days will be posted as "Rest Day."
Holy !*&£ Gonna love this after doing Fran yesterday!
Are the squats just body squats?
@ #16 Juan
"Squats" are always air squats, unless otherwise noted.
Will have to wait on this...I've been following OPT for a while, but wanted to share what I did.
I figured this being my last month overseas, I set a goal of beefing up my workouts and mixing up some mainsite, OPT, Four Horsemen, along with oly lifting. My goal at first was a million lb-ft of work (vertical distance times weight) in a week. Then seeing as I was pretty close, and still felt good after a week of doubling up, I set the bar up to 3,000,000 for the month of July. Just reached that goal today! Going to tone it down for August, but just wanted to share my fun little data tracking for this month.
Did Angie sometime this past month...
15:37, regular pushups, anchored military style situps.
One of my absolute favorites, only surpassed by Cindy, I think. Anyways, I did this earlier in the week at 18 minutes and change.
Crossfit to me is spit more than polish.
What type of situps are we doing?
This is what i am Talking about Mannnn!
going to smoke myself.
If you are supposed to pick your hands up at the bottom on the PUs then it would say so. Reference, last Friday 100703. As we all know, its scalable so if you want to pick them up, pick them up but its not a new standard.
Nice work on that handstand Marshall. CrossFit Evolution is an amazing box and Marshall is a beast.
Amazing video, Jordan! CFO is our home and an awesome place to get our WOD on. We hope everyone enjoys seeing what CrossFit is to us.
Great HSPU on paralletes. Marshal your crazy I want to be like you one day.
22:12 min. Its the slowest I'v ever done Angie. A full 4 min off a PB.
22:12 min. Slowest I've ever done Angie. Full 4 min off a PB.
Gonna be smoked after this one. 3 2 1 GO!!!!!!
15:28 min as rx'd. Slowed down almost a minute and a half.
15:28 min as rx'd. Slowed down almost a minute and a half.
13:55 (last time 15:39, previous PR 14:34)
Pull-ups in 4:10. Couldn't do the math correctly with lack of oxygen in my brain and found out later that I did 105 push-ups.
Anchored abmat sit-ups unbroken, squats unbroken.
Felt asthmatic in the morning, so I inhaled a shot of salbutamol before I started. Is that doping already?
2009-09-26: 24:37 - 1st time. PU's 10 mins alone.
I love 'The Girls" wo's. Minimal equipment- simple, direct- A lot of posters were complaining the other day about workouts that require too much scaling and too many subs- that it is hard to guage progress and relative times. What I do is use workouts like Angie or the Hero wo's to compare and create goals and just scale , sub etc... on the more " complicated' wo's and have fun with them. Many times if I do a lot of subs, I won't even keep time or count reps. Just get a great wo. Anyway, my 2cents.
Re comment #31:
The standard was not chest to bar for this event, it was chin over bar!! That is why she is not going chest to bar, no one is... Everyone thinks that's the new "standard" just cause it was in one or two events last year, kind of like the hands off the ground push ups this year...
100 Pull-ups (9 reg, 91 assisted)
tt = 32:21
Did this one at 6:30 this am at before leaving. Still sore from pull ups the other day with all the kettlebell...a few days behind.
21:40 I did 60 pull up then the rest of the workout then another 40 pullups..thought I was going to run out of time.
17:27 with 20lb weighted vest (PR wearing a vest)
You can do whatever kind of situps you want. Just make a note of what you do so that you know for next time. I'll probably do unanchored situps.
19:53 rx'd...I think thats my first sub 20 rx'd.
Pull ups - 7:08
push ups - 3:51
sit ups - 6:27
squats - 2:26
100 pullups with chin over bar each time.
100 pushups with hand release at bottom position.
100 situps with feet anchored
100 squats to parallel each time of course
time was 23:56
slower than previous. Gym wasn't open early enough for when i did this workout so i used the rogue pull up bar strapped to the goalpost at my high school football field. Ha it made the pullups take way longer than usual with the swing of the straps and bounce of the goalpost. And the pushups were killer on the arms with the hand release. good hard WOD.
18:41 as rx'd. Pr by 52 seconds.
If Kevin C. isn't doing CFSB or taking a rest day, then hopefully I posted early enough to give him a challenge for once. Good luck all.
The 'commercial' was awesome, thanks Jordan.
Angie, 22:00, last time 25:35

Absolutely pathetic time. Thanks in large part to my diet since I'm out of town. Just couldn't string my Pull Ups together for some reason today.
At beach, so modified sslighty.
1 mile run.. (8:05)
100 single unders
100 unanchored situps
Pretty happy with this.. extreme heat and its only 10am
Last time I did angie rxd, took 50 minutes, can def. Ssee some improvement... miss my wod buddies though :(
Sunday musings (thinking about change)...
1) Alarm clock. No need for one of these chez bingo. We have 3 dogs, two of whom have an internal clock set for 0600. Every day.
2) Novels. Clan Bingo is about to embark on "Cape Cod with the White family", version 19. I've stocked up on a couple of books (starting with "...Dragon Tatoo") as I do each year. Now that my kids are older I actually get to read them.
I noticed something fascinating and altogether unexpected while starting to organize for the trip: "The Heir" is doing the same thing! It turns out he "discovered" the novel while visiting and keeping vigil over a coma-bound friend. Read 5 or so books in 5 days, both fiction and non-fiction (I've added "On Intellegence" to my list on his recommendation). Mind you, now, this is a kid who owns a full collection of the Modern Classics...in Cliff Notes.
A rather youngish novelist, 38yo, lamented recently that the brains of our young are no longer 'wired' to read a novel, becoming incapable of following anything that does not offer an instant link to the answer, a quick cut to the video. I'm not so sure, and "The Heir's" recent discovery of the novel domain suggests that the quiet contemplation of a single concept or thought or problem is, indeed, still wired in. Perhaps it gets that way at the youngest of ages, the fibers laid by Dr. Seuss et al.
What's the last REAL book you read? When is the last time you read to your youngest? Gave a book to your teenager?
3) Growth. Do you have any experience with a rapidly growing company, one that brought something truly new to the world? You know, like Apple or Microsoft or Google. Facebook or Twitter. Ford.
Of course you do...you're here on Crossfit.com. Every truly new company goes through a rather predictable pattern of growth, from infancy through a goofy toddlerhood, an awkward adolescence on to some version of grown-up company. Every one. Some grow faster than others (Google, FB), some spend longer periods in adolescence (Apple), while still others mature quickly and live a grown-up life seemingly from the get-go (IBM, Ford). Companies founded on the brilliance of one or two people tend also to run along the lines of those personalities a little longer as well (Microsoft, Standard Oil, H-P, Apple).
So where are we today chez Crossfit? Are we still that growing family gathered, as I've oft described, around the dining room table? Pretty much one-degree of separation from every other Crossfitter on the planet, one phone call or email from Coach and the Crossfit OG's? Not hardly.
Some companies are run by planners, people for whom the plotting of strategy is an end in itself. These companies see the growth coming, plan for the growth, prepare and have a pre-readiness to manage the growth before it happens. The people who are the founders of these companies seem lacking in imagination, seem content to rest on the laurels of the original "aha" moment. These companies fly through adolescence with nary a pit stop in the rush to grown-up-hood. FWIW I'm probably in this camp. Crossfit most definitely is not.
Others, like Crossfit, are driven by the engine of continual ideas, perhaps deriving from that original "aha" but still more concerned with the next cool idea. Growth, especially rapid growth and success, is always a surprise, albeit a happy one. "Whoa, when did THAT happen" kinda stuff. These companies go through the same exact stages and phases as all the others, but they tend to spend a bit longer in adolescence, each really positive step or steps inevitably followed by an awkward one. Think Facebook.
Our place, our company, this Crossfit that we all love so much is somewhere in here. Past the point of toddler-hood, still growing exponentially as the founders and the people who've been on board from the beginning struggle through adolescence, all driven by ideas, all quite passionate about the ideas. They're all really smart, you know; they, and Crossfit, will get there just fine.
The kids are alright.
4) Netty Empsters. Lil'bingo had a couple of Target gift cards from his grad party so it was off to do some freshman dorm outfitting yesterday afternoon. Whoa...how did THAT happen already? Wait just a bit. Isn't it still summer break? I know I've been saying all the right things about the arrival of the empty nest, but it can't be next month. Can it?
Wow. What a bittersweet process this is. The hands on/eyes on part of the hardest thing Mrs. Bingo and I have ever done is almost over. I mean, the darned things arrived pre-assembled without an owner's manual, just plopped into the nest. FEED ME! I need new shoes. Whadday MEAN this skirt is too short. No...really...only a couple beers, Dad.
And now, just about over.
Oh, the parenting thing is not over, not by a long shot. Heck, as I've noted before, Grambingo is still in the active process of parenting her son, convinced that I'll eventually turn out the way she planned if she just stays at it (I'm 50 years old). Nope, the desire to 'help', the unavoidable fear that you could do or could have done more, just a little more, never really goes away. Nor does the fear itself, the fear that something will happen to your children whether they are near or far, nor does THAT ever really go away. (It was a very special and painful type of poignant to look into the nest after one of our dogs snared a cardinal out of mid-air on its maiden flight).
And yet off they go; no stopping them. Indeed, no real desire to stop them. It's our job, after all. The consolation, the reward for all of this? Well, for me that's the easiest question to answer among all that parenting poses. I get my girlfriend back!
Good night, Moon.
I'll see you next week...

i love those crossfit commercials, they are very heart wariming and they depict exactly what crossfit is all about, The music is great and very appropriate. Thse commercials are very well made. Cudos to the ppl who made them.

I missed seeing Kristan do that #205 overhead. Thanks for showing the video again! Wow.
About the live feed for next year, do you think it might be possible to have a little box in the corner showing the different weight amounts for each color so those of us at home know what the competitors are putting overhead?
100 jumping pullups
Mistake made on previous comment #77 Angie in 18:31 and not 28:31.
There wasnt a gym open on a early sunday morning for me to workout at. So ended up using the rogue pull up bar straped to the goal post at my high school. Due to this pull-ups were a lot harder so it killed my time. But still a great workout.
100 pull-ups with chin over bar
100 push-ups with hand release at bottom
100 sit-ups with feet anchored
100 squats to parallel
Final time 25:41

Getting better, especially having done about 400 pullups in the past week and heavy back squats yesterday. I'll get to 10 min someday.
Pullups took forever
i did this wod in 12:03 with porch scaling (50 reps)
Is the too fast, should i be scaling up? whats a good target time
Abmat butterfly unanchored situps
15:28 as Rx'd
Faster than last time but still not as fast as I want it. Gotta get faster on the situps and pull ups I think for the biggest gains.
Had to switch to lat pull down for lst 40 pull ups d/t grip failure. Push ups pretty much all on knees and still a battle. Sit ups anchored.
18:39, slowed down a bit due to hands needing retaped.
modified angie. subbed 50 glute ham raises for the 100 air squats. still nursing an injury. figured since GHR are harder than air squats (at least for me), that 50 was a good number since it takes just over the time it would take me to do the squats.
as rx'd 18:12 my girl is getting in to it :) love it! tough first workout but she got it in 22:50
20:15 (20:33) - 7:15-12:45-17:40-20:15
Angie scaled to 80 reps
23:01 my first angie! Not bad since my pullups are slow...M/28/210lbs/6'2"

As rx 33:18 pr, targeting sub 30 next time
First time i've evr done angie. Did it in 21:23.
It was my first time doing kipping pullups so i was not used to them. this is just my 3rd day as a CF'er

27:14. Pull-ups sucked up a lot of that time.
29:43 at montclair park vs
27:40 sit ups slowed me down 4/24/08
25:30 w/ 1 torn callous on pull up 84--3/2/08

100 C2B Pull-ups
100 new standard Push-ups
100 Sit-ups Abmatt foot anchored
time 24min. Pullups got bad arround 70 I managed to not rip but my hands have some big blisters on both hands on the ring and little fingers both hands. I almost tont know whay I didn't just rip them and get it over with. Next pullups will take care of it if I want it to or not.
Pushups fun but hard, I though I would kill you Scott I got 30 plus but broke in there some where. Then it was a struggel to do 10 in a row, it turned into 7's
Doing goo here then Martin found a wasp at rep 60 on the situps and I had to kill it and deal with him over it killing my time. He was fine, it didn't sting him.
Squars were ok a bit slowere then I like, but with all the leg work the last couple of days I was happy with it.
All breaks good and controlled no real long uncontrolled breaks.
The pull ups alone took me 11 minutes because we were outta chalk and I kept slipping and push ups I did for the first time the regular way( no more on the knees) and hands off ground @ bottom .
I have done crossfit for 3 months and lost 15 #.
Greets from crossfit South Bend,IN
PR! situps and squats unbroken
Push-up standard has not changed. It has always been full ROM ... chest to floor at the bottom and elbows locked out at the top. Keep it simple and train hard!
slower than last time, blah
Felt really good today.
24:45 I guess time flies when you're having fun!
Jordan just wanted to give you props on the video...that was GREAT!!!
Wish I could carry it around and just show people every time I get asked..."What is Crossfit"!

Sucked badly today. 22:52
11 min pr from a month ago. was off the koolaid for a bit, but hopped back on.
22:51(PR I think)
On a trip to Chicago. I printed out and brought along the list of body weight and no apparatus workouts. I chose to do Angie in 10 sets of 10, which is why I was really shocked to see it here when I came to post my workout.
10 rounds of:
10 push ups
10 sit ups (unanchored, arms crossed, elbows to thigh)
15 sec. hold (alternate parallette L holds and stomach vacuums)
Finished in 29:24.
I'm really happy to have done 100 push ups-definitely couldn't have done that a month ago.
Two seconds slower than the PR. I was happy to bang out 45 pull-ups to get the ball rolling but it was awful tough to straighten my arms once I got to the push-ups.
More better faster
AS RX'D 15:58
ABMAT UNANCHORED Butterfly SIT UPs.
Pull ups broke them down into 45,25,10 and sets of 5s. push ups sets of 5s, Sit ups unbroken but slow, Squats almost the same as pull ups. Nice WOD.
(Angie PR is 11:30 with sit ups anchored).
kipping pullups - but all the rest was no cheating!
I felt pretty good about the time.
Ran a 7:22 mile IMMEDIATELY after
100 ring pullups
100 unanchored situps
Did it in the park this morning, felt really slow. Some guy's dog kept bugging me during the pullups and then he wanted to know what I was doing... Lost a minute or two dealing with dog and owner.
Did this on the fitness trail in a nearby park. Unfortunately the pull-up bar at this place ROTATES! Could barely do three pull-ups without it sliding me off at the end. Thought about slamming some epoxy into the mount to solidify it for next time. Going to try again next week at the gym and a stable bar.

Release hands on bottom for Push-ups (Brutal and my new standard)

Squats are squats
IMO the push-ups with a required release from the bottom should be the new standard. Go ahead and hate if you wanna. It would only suck if things got easier.
Anchored abmat situps. Pullups completed in 3:00.
Excellent job cosmo, memuc, Casey P, quinn, gb, mike and peejay2. NikNichols try gloves. Everyone who says not to is just plain wrong. Way to persevere Julie.
Thanks Bingo. Beautiful as always. You almost make me wistful, but as a non-parent I've reaped the benefit of having my girlfriend the entire 22 years of my marriage. We are both very lucky.
Getting back into training for sectionals last year after a 20th place in the North Central Regionals in April, but also keeping up my O-lift for another meet in September so it's a tricky training combination since they are basically at the opposite ends of the training spectrum...

New PR by 1:40. Gymnastic kip pull-ups; chest to deck push-ups; anchored bent-knee AbMat sit-ups; squats to an 11-inch box (below parallel).
Came in to this tired and achy so I don't know how I managed to set a new PR. Did catch a short glimpse of Mr. Pukie about 2 minutes after this was over. Fortunately, no contact was made. Dropping from the 25th pull-up rep, I slammed my nose on the bar. Nice way to start! :)
finished each exercise before moving on to next.
as rx'd in order
I did unassisted sit ups. Took 11:00 minutes going all the way up and down. Does this sound right? Total time in subbed 28:00.

This is my PR by a whopping 1:13!!
(But man, am I gonna be SORE in a couple of days!)
Rich 36:28 half push ups some using band some jumping.
Pull ups were assisted but still killed my arms.
22:30 As Rxd. I really died on the pullups. Kipping or not, this was a challenge. Probably shouldn't of drank so much the night before :)
Next time Angie!!
As Rx'd 21:30. First time I have tore my hands open in few months. Still trying to break 20:00. Next time.

Took it easy, did a half Angie, 6:50.
34:34 (my slowest time ever on Angie by almost 10 min) Got a ways to go to get back in to the shape I used to be in. And definitly ripped my hands open about 50 pullups in.
Are these the Kip-up pull ups?
10 chins, 10 bardips, 10 squats, 10 situps
14.56 (average heartbeat 181 beats/minute)
First crossfit workout from start to finish- 34:30. Man, I really thought I was in good shape!
21:27 PR by five minutes
15:39 as RX'ed.
Did these out in the park, so improvised pull-up bar was used (part of a jungle gym) and something about the grip and/or angle of the bar ruined my pull-ups.
It took almost 5 minutes for all 100, and I was doing sets of 5 from 60 to 100 - I usually do 100 PUs in sets of 20 or 25, so I have NO IDEA what the radical change was, but something was goofy.
That said, it was a beautiful day in the park, we took the rings and did some muscle-up work after the WOD. Beautiful Sunday.
...should have added, this was the first WOD with all push-ups to the "new" (at least to me, hadn't seen 'em before this year's games) push-up standard of full extension at the top and hands and feet off the ground at the bottom.
Really seemed to tax my shoulders and the upper-outside part of my chest as well. Dug it. Just different.

25 min. with GHD sit-up substitution; hurts time, but work so well. Pull-ups took too long; try doing sets of 10 next time.
24:29. Did it in 5 rounds of 20 just for kicks. Pushups with the release at the bottom, definitely made it harder, unanchored situps.
1st time for Angie for me
13:20 of that was in pull ups. 76 were kip or strict. The last 24 were jumping due to hands being too torn up.
First Angie and I feel like a train wreck. Definitely need to work core strength, sit-up were a grind! (45/M/145)

What a moving video, great job Overload!
First time I've ever made it through. This was the first wod I ever attempted back in December, and I remember thinking at the time that I would never be able to do it. Another reason that crossfit is incredible.
4 min improvement from last year in April (did 18 something last year).
Kipping is allowed.
as rx'd games standard push ups
each next exercise I thought would be easier... it wasn't.
Did 20# weighted Angie - total time 19:23.
Break downs per exercise:
7:12 kipping pullups
4:20 anchored situps
Should have gone a little faster on the squats.
Forearms, low back, low lats, upper back, neck, glutes and calves sore and fatigued from yesterday's first paddleboard race. Finished the race in 45 minutes, taking second place to a woman in a full on race board (I was racing on the "Barco-Lounger" board. It's great for goofing around and sleeping on, but not quite so good for racing!).
Had to switch to jumping pull ups toward the end around the last 30, otherwise as RX'ed. Situps are definitely my weak point.

I decided to switch it up some. I did it Rx'd with a 20# weighted vest for all but the situps. The weighted vest had sand packets in the back, so I took it off and did unanchored butterfly situps. Also tried kipping chinups.

Angie is a sweetheart. Pull-ups went better this time - took about 4:45 - and got the first 40 straight (PR!). Push-ups were hard, but finished in 4:30. Sit-ups sucked. I felt fatigued after the first 10, these took about 4:30 as well. Plowed through the squats in about 2 minutes - happy with the effort here. Legs were burning, but I tried to just keep churning out reps, even though my pace was slow.
Exhausted and tight afterwards. Amazing how Crossfit can mess you up with only your own body weight.
Angie, Oh Aaannnnggggiiee....
way better than I thought it would be.I had to double check myself and make sure I did all the exercises.

I have not been too into working out.. going through a bit of a lull I would say... maybe it's the bigger than normal gaps over the past month, with vacation, almost a week off while my brother visited and we went out almost every night, etc. I did this with a bit of a cold/ cough abd kind of didn't push 100% but it felt like a good workout.. for me the pullups took longer than normal, about 4 minutes, and then the pushups really took a lot longer than normal, about 4 minutes as well. This one's usually one I kill, but I just haven't had that spark.. I'll just keep on treading water and hopefully get the intensity and frequency up in due time.
29.27. only 71 PUs but honest ones.
April 09 - 28.32 with about 10 on the pull ups which were feet on the ground. So probably some progress vs. last time:

Pack, for time:
Took some time off to heal up and take vacation, and this was my first WOD back. For some reason I tried to do an additional 5 reps of everything this time. I felt pretty good, but I definitely wasn't at peak. Had to break up everything. Pull-ups still the most difficult part. Still, my times per exercise were a little slower than they should have been.
CFWU-2. Reg first. HSPU 2nd. Rowed 500m as 3rd. Superman. Burgener. DU.
PU little tough. Only 5's for most part after first 30. Pretty good job getting back on bar though. Pushups only 5 for most part after 1st 26. Situps - slow & steady. No pause until 60 or so. Squats very good. No pause until 75 I think.
See 12/31/09 for further history.
Did this workout after doing the WOD for SUNDAY 100808. I had about a 10 min rest between the workouts. This made squats especially hard because the legs were dead, and push ups were also difficult because of the burpees I had done. Still, pleased all things considered.
