little late today, had me worried.
ok so another newbie question:
I'm switching over from a bodybuilding style regimen and am wondering-
yesterday I 55 pullup, 50 horizontal pullups, and 20 35# one-armed rows in just under 20 minutes
is this a good time? bad?
thank you
PLAYHARD-
Crossfire is you vs. you. Is that a good volume and power load for you?
PLAYHARD-
Crossfit is you vs. you. Is that a good volume and power load for you?
If I have a 24inch box instead of 30, how many reps would you guys recommend in order to compensate?
Is that 50 lbs altogether or 50 pound dumbells?
#5. I would use some plates and make the 24" box into a temporary 30" box. Although u could do extra 24" jumps I feel that doing the box jumps with the extra explosiveness needed to get 30" instead of 24" can't be replicated with more volume on just a 24" box. It's amazing how much of a diff. six inches makes
Just my 2 cents
Did James really just use CrossFit Lindy apparel...I THINK SO!!!
Thanks for representing man. You dont know how awesome that made me feel!
Well after reading about the explosiveness needed for a 30 inch box versus 24 inch box I dont feel so bad about the slower times I get with our sad and neglected 36 inch.
#6, I'm pretty sure its 2 50lb dumbbells (I'm basing that off a workout last week or the week before when they said the same thing then clarified later that it meant two.)
Hell yeah, Casey and Natalie! Nice work!
Nice Work Casey and Natalie!
45# DBs and 24" Box
14 rounds and 5 Push Jerks
Thank you for posting example videos again THEY HELP A LOT!!!
it's 100 lbs total weight 50 lbs dumbbells
stack plates onto your box, you need to get it to 30 inches unless you're unable to do box jumps at this highth, then scale accordingly, by dropping the height.
17 rounds + 5 pj
feel very tired, this is one that i will repeat for a couple more rounds.
50lb dumbells

sorry to be a newbee but what is a Dumbell push jerk????

Ste
Yikes, the WOD demo video looked like a parody of crossfit done by someone who hates crossfit.
Slow motion super close ups aren't particularly helpful.
Seriously Quentin Tarantino just show the WOD.
And what's up with the workout on the sidewalk in front of everyone? I can only imagine what people were thinking of Crossfit as they walked by dodging the crazy people jumping on boxes.
Let's see a video of the WOD done by those guys in Jersey who had all home built equipment in the outdoor gym and were working out in the winter after clearing the snow.
Those guys are doing Crossfit for all the right reasons.

Disagree with JohnC- what a better way to recruit like-minded folks join your box than an occasional outdoor workout? Great job CrossFit Lindy!
Tim- day off.

I like the crossfit web sight, though often times I lack ability (or equipment). I saw a minimalist regimen years ago on this sight and I've followed this for quite sometime.
day 1 (popeye)21.15.7 (push press, push ups)
day 2 (wimpy) 21.15.7 (clean, pull ups)
day 3 (bluto) 21.15.7 (deadlift) and 3 sets tabata squats interchanged.
What am I lacking (I run with the dog for cardio)
Hey, isn't that Angel judging in the photo?!
I personally got a charge out of the video. I'd love to know the script inked on the one athlete's left side.
The Crossfit tent is a big place, with plenty of room for all. Kudos to Jon Gilson and the Again Faster crew, and for that matter all of the CF media who've been bringing us these videos. Tip 'o the hat to Tony B, Coach, and the rest of the Main Page staff for adding this daily feature.
Thats an awesome vid...can't get in today because my "Globo-Gym" membership is done till I move back to school on Monday...will definitely save this one for next week...hopefully Monday morning before my rugby workout in the PM.
Crossfit is changing my life one workout at a time.

Why do some of the people on this site have to post negative comments? #18, you rubbed me the wrong way today. Who cares where and how the example WOD vid was filmed. Try to be a bit more positive like the the majority of our CrossFit brothers and sisters. Try to focus on the work to be done today and encouraging those around you. Negativity breeds more negativity... Now lets use this glorious CrossFit day to dominate the HELL out of this WOD!

Tough workout, I just didn't have it today. Push jerks gassed me. I had 3 rounds in the first 2 minutes, but thereafter, could only get a round a minute. Did PJs and box jumps unbroken in about 45s, then tried to catch my breath for 15s before the next round.
Box at globogym - not measured but at least 30". Left knee (tendonitis) as good as it's been in several months. Today, it felt good enough to jump down from the box, but I did not have the confidence to pop back up - that might have made a difference.

Is it just me or do a lot of the folks in the WOD demo appear to be doing push presses, and not push jerks?
#196 Josh
I thought they were supposed to be push presses! I watched the video earlier and saw push presses. Didn't read the WOD close enough!
Anyways, did wod with 45# dumbbells (largest I have...) and did push presses.

@ #197 -- yeah, i can never tell if it's just a typo in the WOD post or not, but i've notice a few video / WOD post discrepancies lately...oh well.
I did pretty deep push jerks and was confused as hell when my "roundage" was significantly lower than those posted on CF.com.

I just happen to have a sturdy 30" table
I felt a huge amount of time lost in not stringing the jerks together. They were all singles without using the drop from the last one to set the push for the next.
at around round 11 I missed the box with my right foot right after thinking the jumps were seeming easy and steady. Nice scrape on right shin didn't really slow me down, it actually fired me up to compete one more round than I was on track for.

Went hard today, because I've been MIA recently- I've never done 2 WODS in a day before, and that was fun. I took some much needed rest time this last week or so, some time at Cape Cod with family, plus work on the house for the new baby boy coming in September. My body feels healed and strong, and I'm ready for x fit again.

Really good workout. My box was a few things stacked so it was shaky so I did my box jumps carefully. If I had a solid box I think I coulda gotten another round or two. But it made it interesting.
Also did handstand holds after. Working towards that freestanding handstand! And I finally got double unders down!! Been practicing before every WOD for about two months and now I can consistently get 15-20! Very very happy to see hard work pay off. DU's are very satisfying to crank out now. Now we just need another WOD with them so I can test them more under pressure.

I thought I'd be able to get 17 but 15 was all for me today.
I've been off for a week on vacation and this was my second day in a row back.. yesterday I did handstand pushup lock-out position holds for about 75 secs each for 4 rounds with heavyish Deadlifts... this WOD was a bit taxing but fun and great.. I am pretty good at a high box jump, but high rep high box jumps tax my lungs like a mother. I thought the reps were great.
