5min WU
20min non-stop various jump rope (High Intensity)
10min Mix up (Sit-ups, Incline Push-Ups) while still jumping
5min Cooldown/Stretch

Going to finally make up the Clean/Jerks tomorrow.

Question for all who have been to a recent Level 1 Cert. I am preparing for one in the next few weeks by reading the manual and looking at the Journal but there seems to be a lot of anxiety over the exam at the end. Is there anyone who could provide some insight into what would be an effective way to study for the exam? Are there some additional archived journal articles which would be a benefit or is all in the manual?

I have been a crossfitter for 2.5 years and have been trying to follow the journal and branching out to the cfe site but with the recent posts on the exam at the end I am starting to get a little anxious myself. I feel I have a good base of knowledge into crossfit but I acknowledge I am still new to the program after 2.5 years of constant crossfitting and still have a lot to learn.

Brad McKee, excellent in-depth video portrait.

This is one of the best, if not the best, video series that Greg/Lauren have ever put on this website, thank you. I know that this has grown bigger than you ever thought it would and its nice to see that some things won't change like your dedication to our military. You are the best :-)

Little bit of difficulty with double unders, had to do two normal jumps as a lead in and one normal recover jump, so basically 3 normal jumps between each double under as to get the timing down. took the first round to figure that out, next I do this should be alot faster.

3 cycles in a row doing the WODs as RX'D That's a new PR I think. (getting stronger and better all around).

I woke up feeling good this morning (a little sore throat and a little cough) but at the same time recovered from yesterday's 27 rope climbs and the 45 thrusters with the 115 pounds, For warm up today did the Sampson stretch, practice butterfly pull ups. followed by 25 to 30 pull ups unbroken, 25 squats a couple of tuck jumps and 30 double unders. Sit ups Anchored Chris Spealler's style in the Video. Arms in the chest and mixing with hands behind the head with finger interlock sit ups.:)

To anyone who is or has ever used Vibram Fivefinger shoes. I have been using mine exclusivly for all my crossfit workouts and am starting to have sharp pain in my feet. At first it was just tendonitis and getting used to the shoe but now it is a sharp pain in my right foot when I do anything with impact ie running, double unders. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks.

C&J rep 1: 115-120-125-125-125-125-125

All were PR’s! 115 was PR for the combo, 125 was PR for getting a clean (I can lift heavier on jerks). Recently just had 120 PR for clean. Hitting 125 for 5 times- this was a super sweet treat for me!

That is because Vibrams are overrated flipflops. You can't tell me using them for jumping around all the time is going to be conducive for foot health.

Maybe for the occasional run, yes, but let's face it we aren't cavemen and wearing some support and cushioning on your feet will go a long way to long term foot health.

Try Chucks for lifting and a decent running shoe for running. If you are combining them, buy Sambas.

Throw away the vibrams.

Subbed Double Count Singles for DUs. Worked on DUs after the WOD. I've got really fast and consistent single but find myself jumping too high and changing my body mechanics to make the DUs. I would typically only be able to wire 4 or 6 back to back doing this. Hopefully with some more practice I can nail this skill for next time.

Thought my L-ankle injury would make this miserable. But, I really didn't feel any pain. However, I skipped the C/D b/c right after the WOD I felt a cold tingling sensation throughout the injured ankle and foot. Almost like it had fallen asleep. Not sure why. 16 mins. double-unders were very inefficient. First unscaled crossfit wod since incomplete massive rotator cuff tear repair 3.5 mos ago. Crossfit is going to be interesting now. I can't even do a single pullup anymore. Looking forward to rapid gains during recovery. Unsure what functional result of surgery will be.

Comment #212 - Posted by: bob at May 18, 2010 4:39 PM

Teaching my 13 year old son about Crossfit. I love it, and now so does he. He said he likes it better then his regular off ice hockey training, because it pushes him harder.

Neither of us are masters of the DU, so we doubled it. 100, 80, 60, 40, 20 of singles, and sit-ups were anchored. I put a 10 pound medicine ball on my forehead for more resistance.

Tough workout but we were done in 10:44 minutes.

Thomas (my son) is going to be a little machine.

3..2..1..GO!!!

Picked up a used Yukon GHD in pretty good condition this past Saturday. Took it apart Sunday, sanded it, primed it, and repainted. Just couldn't take that dirty white color. Now it's charcoal grey and black :)

"Annie" what a WOD to break it in on. ha ha ha kicked my butt good. I had been doing GHD style sit-ups off of my 24" jump box but what a difference a full range of motion makes. Last time did Annie off of my box in 24:47. Today off of my GHD 35:50 Ouch!!! I really do need to start practicing my DU. Oh yeah Humbled again.

As rx'd, 6:21 (PR by almost 2 minutes).

Didn't quite go sub-6 as I hoped, but happy with the effort today. DUs felt good - not tiring at all - and were mostly in rhythm, but I had a couple misses almost every round. Pushed hard through the situps, unbroken through first two rounds, only a quick break here and there in the last rounds. Used new sit-up standard. Could barely get myself up at the end - both abs and hip flexors at fatigue.

Afterwards, had a lot of energy left, so worked on chest-to-bar pullups, bar muscle-ups, and 10 minutes handstand practice.

Day after 'Annie' WOD thoughts. For anyone who is having trouble with double unders but has solid single skips. I have found that by "keeping your feet together and slightly kicking them forward with toes up" allows you to achieve the height for the DU and for landing and reset. This will allow you to tie them together back to back. If you bend your knees and curl up in the air, it is harder to sustain your skipping rhythm. Hope this helps someone. Good Luck

I worked out that if you can't do double unders very well, by the time they're done it's probably equivalent to doing 5 times as many singles, so 250,200,150,100,50 - actually, that would have been faster and less tiring!

I don't know how much faster I can get on this one.. I do Annie every once in a while after shorter WODs afer a short rest.. obviously my times are more around high 5 mins or even 6 after a WOD, but it's still a fun and fast workout.. I must say that I'm happy to say that I didn't feel that taxed after the WOD. I wasn't that winded and was fine after about 2 minutes or so. I did a bunch of snatch and C&J drills and then did 1 minute max double unders (114)... overall a good, fun, short workout.. I am feeling Tommy V from yersterday though.. mostly in my hips.. hands are fine and my back is fine.. I did a lot of walking lunges with 45 lb plate overhead instead of the thrusters.

I forgot to mention that I have changed or rather slightly modified how I'm doing situps now.. ever since reading from a post directing the situp as Rx that hands should touch back of mat and the front/ shins.. I have my hands hit the mat behind my head and then hit the dumbells that are what my feet are anchored under. I almost always do anchored situps with high rep WODs. FYI

About 30 seconds faster than last time (November?). Not a big improvement but considering I've been very inconsistent with the WODs lately, I'll take it.

First round was done in a little over 2 min (good pace on DU's and situps), second round in a little over 3 min (slower situps).

Fun WOD.
