35:10 as Rx'd. except did 45# good mornings for back ext. We do not have a GHD. Disappointed but I haven't been working that hard lately. I have been less than motivated the last couple months. Maybe the gray days in northern Indiana. Any Ideas to get out of the slump?

Newb question: for longer high rep WODs like this is it better to take as much rest as needed to finish the 50 reps?? or should I have a max rest time and if I can't do another rep move on to the next exercise?? been CF'ing for a month or so now and havin lots of fun with it...thanks in advance

Well, the intent for the WOD is: Start the clock. Do all 500 reps in order, resting only as necessary. Stop the clock. Record your time. Try to beat it next time.
But regarding taking breaks, I think many of the hackers here, like me for instance, have to take breaks on several of the exercises. Take the KTE's - because of a combo of stomach muscles and grip strength, I can't come close to 50 straight. I do 20, rest 5-8 seconds, do 8, rest agin fer a couple, then 7, rest, 6, rest, 5, rest, then the last 4. Also have to take breaks for wall ball and burpees. Just try and remember that the clock is ticking, so just rest long enough to bang another couple of reps out.
If you are just getting going, you might try scaling it to 40 reps of each for a total of 400, see how it goes, and then modify next time the WOD comes up. For instance, my wife did 30 of each the first time she tried it.

Hey guys, just wondering if someone knows a couple subs for double-unders and box jumps. I'm rehabbing a high ankle sprain and jumping is still a no go so tuck jumps are also out. Any and all input is appreciated.

What's a good warm up for day like this? It's only my 2nd week and I'm pretty sore n I'm thinkin the cfwux3 like Ive been doing might affect my performance , even though Ill probably scale to 40.
1 pood is how many Pounds/KG?
Does anyone else have standard overtraining symptoms that they get? I should probably say overreaching, as it goes away in 3-5 days. If I do too much over a few days and can't find the right sleep and glutamine to counter I usually wake up with a nasty sore throat and stuffed ears/nose. It feels like strep or a sinus infection but no fever and the doc never finds anything. The problem is that I can never really spot any warning signs. It just seems to crash in, usually after a rough rugby weekend, but in this case it was just after being active and outside for too many days in a row I guess.
This is the 3rd time in the last 6 months and each one I can attribute to overindulgence in athletic endeavors.
Does anyone have similar overreaching or overtraining issues? If so, have you found any foods or habits that helped prevent them? Other than the obvious "just take a day off when you feel it coming" which would work if I could "feel" it coming. It's usually a wake up sick thing. Obviously I'm gonna miss some sleep here and there, but I find it hard to believe that that alone could set me off.

Ever since I started CrossFit, muscular girls like in today's pic are getting more and more attractive to me. That girl's got a hot bod!!
#13 JLG - As hard as it is for us fitness freaks not to train, try taking a full week off, do nothing at all. Eat a bag of potato chips, watch TV, and drink a ton of beer. You'll be amazed at how motivating feeling fat and out of shape will be for you!!
But if you can't stomach that idea, then try something different for exercise other than CrossFit. Try playing pickup basketball at the park, swimming, yoga, or good ol' Globo Gym 3 sets of 10 on the incline peck deck machine, haha. That might be refreshing enough to miss CrossFit and get your mind back on track. Hope that helps!
I think I will scale this down to "filthy 20" and do it as a CFSB metcon.
Nice filthy 50. The jumping chins alone are in the .25 hp range for someone of her stature and weight.

not overtraining, what you're experiencing is from your immune system being crushed by the workout. The solution is simple: immediate (within 10-15 minutes of finishing) post-workout nutrition, consisting of whey protein, maltodextrin (fastest acting sugar, serves to stimulate insulin response, restore glycogen stores, and acts to facilitate use of BCAA from protein, and...) L-glutamine, which supports your immune system.
I had the same problem for a long time. Post-workout shakes fixed it.
They also make a noticeable difference in your next workout performance.

I do the "filthy" once a week even when it's not prescribed, it's my favorite. Starting last week I changed the 50 to 60, increased the weight to 65# on the push press and added an 11th exercise at the end, 95# overhead squats. I did this one yesterday (time 68 mins.) so I'll do something else today.

Mods: heaviest ball at my big box is 12# (thank god!), used a pre-set 50 bar for push press and a 35 pound db for kb swings. Otherwise as Rx.

The KTE and burpees killed my time.
28:30 subbed 35lb db's for kb's, subbed 45 lb thrusters for wb's, subbed good mornings for be's. About 90 secs off my PR. Rested too long between reps on thrusters. Burpees were horrible. DU's were OK but the area I was in was too enclosed and the ceiling too low. K2E's felt a lot better than past Filthy's.
Remains, by far, my favorite WOD to do at a globogym on a weekday morning.

Videos of the daily wods are nice, but Laurie's video not being rxed just add to the usual confusion of what is the rx version for women for this wod, as well as for the other benchmarks - very puzzling to me why an official rx women's version of the daily wod could not be posted, the way it is done for instance at Crossfit competitions, where of course there is always an official scaling for women.

Tried a new strategy this time. Took more frequent breaks, but very short ones. Didn't push it right to failure. Seemed to work better.

wasdoing great until I met the burpees, which pretty much finished me off (took like 9 mins!)

Time was 24:03 (PR) ALMOST 7 MINUTE PR. THE Burpees and the Wall balls got me, Took me about 6 minutes to complete those burpees, those burpees took the longest that i have ever seen in my life. usually i would go for 50 burpees in less than 3 minutes, NOT TODAY..

Felt like I had an awesome time until I hit the k2e's. Then felt I had a decent time until the burpees absolutely killed me.
Sure someone has mentioned it but could not find it.
Vid of the wod is off shows same split time of 11:50 for two exercises.
Sure overall times is right and not trying to take any thing away from form effort or result. I was just looking at splits to try and get a comparision of how the wod flowed.

Filthy Fifties with my buddy Andrew. He misunderstood how to do it, so he did it split up in two sets of 25reps. So he did it in about 42min.
Myself: I did regular Kipping PU, used a 20kg KB and used 8kg med ball (heaviest they had).

Burpees always kick my ass. One of the swivel handle on my jump rope broke halfway thru my DU's. I had to borrow someone else's. Never a dull moment...

Box J were slower than last time, better standard this time. Jumping pullups were not correct, had to jump 12" to get to bar...last time 90s, this stime about 2 min slower, lost a lot there. Rest was similiar, lug nuts comming off during burpees, need to be better at those. All in all a pretty good effort, with better form or way too much... Oh well.
Lifted with NAPS kids, Incline Bench, DH PU 12-12-8, pushup on balls.
Ran home, to Landings road.

Improvement of 1:28 since last time (28:38), but still off of my PR by 2:30 (24:40). That was a long time ago.
A big factor is the Florida heat and humidity I think (86 degrees). Kind of felt like I was burning from the inside out. I need to learn to drink a lot more water before going out there. Not an excuse by any means, just noting for next time in hopes of a PR.
JPUs, KBSs, Lunges, and DUs were all unbroken. Probably half of my time was spent doing the damn wall balls (sets of 10) and burpees (painfully slow 1 by 1). If I can improve upon just those two movements I would destroy my times.

I was so close to sub-20. Really thought I had it, I was 12 minutes on the dot after back extensions. Maybe could have pushed harder through wall balls. I took burpees slow and methodical, and didn't rest much during the breaks; mostly I just wanted to start a different set of counting. I had hoped the 21-15-9 would take my mind off things, but I was in a world of hurt through most of this - dancing big time with Pukie. Was at 19:06 entering double-unders, but felt like ass and just couldn't string them together at first. I was on the ground for about 15 minutes after this one.
