Did Salo train at a gym? Under a trainer? Beneath the endless canopy of the Finnish Spruce forests?
Is he Crossfit's answer to the "Natural", with "Wonderboy" or "Ihmetellä Poika" burned into his bumpers?
What's his story?
Glad to see a nearly-namesake make the top 3 :-D
Congratulations to all, but most especially to Moe Kelsey! It was a blast to cheer you on the whole weekend, and a great honor to have met you and see you train a few times at Jogogym! Inspiring performance from a humble and awesome individual!
anyone have an update on OPT's injury?
what were the causes of the other DNF in the chipper WOD? OPT injury, Sveinbjorn and Jeff muscleups, what about Jeremy Thiel???
Can anyone shed some light on the 'big names' that are often represented on main site videos?!
Josh Everett came last on the sandbag sprint! He is a) a beast b) a sprinter. Is he ok?!? I'm assuming he got injured or did the cumulative toll of all those WODs get to him?
And the DNF's in the top 16? Obviously 8 workouts is grueling. Any major injuries to Thiel, OPT, Sven, etc? Hope they are ok. Following Crossfit Potomac on Twitter made me feel for Spencer Hendel. If only I got to watch live....twitter doesn't cut it.
Also, HQ needs a better way to do live tracking! Get those IT guys to rip off espn.com or nfl.com, as it's much easier to track performances through them! But obviously, the priority was on running the Games smoothly, which is good - just painful when you are 10000 miles away!
is there anywhere we can see where everyone finished? what did spealler and josh everett finish?? Congrats to all!
re: #18
Todd,
go to games.crossfit.com
top left hand corner right next to the logo.
"Live Scoring. Affiliate Cup, Men's, and Women's scores are live!"
you can look at all the competitors individual times and rankings
Josh Everett was able to go all the way in the deadlifting (I believe it went up to 505lbs), but on the sandbag run he dropped the bags... couldnt seem to get a good grip on them, and seemed tired on the run. None the less he did a good job and the crowd loved him.
Congrats to all the competetors. You make Crossfit what it is and give drive to those who think they have no more. Pushing the limit.
On a side note, what is the complete saying across the warehouse in the background? I haven't had an opportunity to see it with my own eyes.
More information on the CF Games, including final scores/ranks, athlete profiles, pictures, and videos can be found at http://games2009.crossfit.com/ (wfs).
re: comment #17 Matt_in_Oz
from what i heard from the games site, OPT had a shoulder injury, thiel had an injury in the lats?, sven and leonard just couldn't do all the muscle ups.

Congratulations Mikko, Awesome Job this weekend!
Thank you Crossfit HQ for putting on this phenomenal event!!!!!!!!!! I could only imagine how much time and preparation went into doing all of this, thank you for all of your hard work.
Another big Thank you!!! To all of the volunteers and judges at the event, you guys had to show up supppper early and work your ass off everyday, without you guys none of this would have been possible, thank you again!!!
Can't wait for next year!

re: comment 21 Kevin D
"Our workouts are competitive events. The strength and value of CrossFit lies entirely within our domination of other athletes. This is a truth derived through competition, not debate."
congrats khalipa. congrats mikko, tanya, and everyone else who competed. freakin inspiring, i know im doing the chipper tomorrow.
Congrats to all, it was a great Competition, Like i said before Jason, you had an amazing comeback but, the Cyborg is just incredible! and he will be back next year to defend his title. he'll probally deadlift more and run faster next year, the guys training is insane! another persont to look out for next year is this guy from CrossFit Osan, I believe the guys name is Victor Cruz and goes by the nic name of the Puerto Rican Beast! :) again congrats to all!! amazing display of human performance! and in mikkos case of Cyborg Performance! :)
Just got back from the games, and they were completely amazing. Thanks to everybody who made that happen. It was overwhelming. In a good way.
Jeff, Herm, Cookie, Jakers, it was great to meet all of you.

There had better be TONS of freakin video of this thing. Twitter wasn't enough to satiate my hunger of the games. I'm so there next year! Bring on the Videos HQ!
Congrats to Mikko and Tanya, Time to start training for next year.
This past three days was amazing!!! Congrats to all of the athlete's, judges and volunteers. Thanks to the Castro's for hosting the event.
do any other crossfiters run barefoot or with minimal shoes?
has there been discussion regarding the benefits of this kind of running and the problems of cushioned trainers?
More people I forgot to give props to in my previous post:
Tanya, awesome job!!! 2nd then 1st, amazing!
I think OPT said it the best to me, "just finishing all of these workouts is an achievement in itself" Congratulations to all of the competitors who made it to the Games and put it all on the line!!!
Coach Bingbing from Crossfit Unlimited is badass!! Thank you very much for all of your help.
I just want to say that I am very impressed with all of the athletes at the games this year and I would love to see much, much more about the games and the athletes who competed and won, lost, participated in the games. Sevan, I know that you have years of footage, please make this available in the journal.
Next Year, My lady and me will be in Aromas for the competition. Hopefully one of us will make the qualifiers.
Have Fun, Train Hard,

My Comments to the people that were at the CrossFit games:
Steve Smith,
I know you are reading this... You are probably one of the nicest, great to talk to people out of the whole competition. I just wanted to let you know that! Props to tha army! It was cool seeing you rep the army T.
I can't believe how incredibly nice everybody is!
Shout-outs to:
Greg Glassman, Nicole Carroll, Dave Castro, Rachel Medina, Jason Khalipa, Gillian Mounsey, Chuck Carswell, Jeff Tucker, Adrian Bozman, Pat Sherwood, Jolie Gentry, Mike Burgener, Chastity Slone, Freddy C, John Welbourn, Travis Bagent, Chris Spealler, Josh Everett, OPT, and Tommy Hackenbruck
for taking pictures with me! If you want the picture, shoot me an email!
Last but not least...
"PROPS TO THA FRAT!!!"
BIG HUGS!!! you guys are the best! Let me know when you get those pix online!
Hey Nelson! You made it on video!!!
CrossFit is the greatest thing ever invented!!! Thanks Coach!
Franiel
I want to give props to Sven and Annie from Iceland. They totally rocked the workouts and made it so far in the competition. I just want to say that they are amazing! On the last workout today they had never done a muscle-up before and people from the crowd, and the judges taught both Annie and Sven their first ones during the competition. Even though they couldn't complete the workouts and got disqualified, it was so amazing to see Annie get her first muscle-up ever and Sven end up doing 8 out of the 15! Great job guys! And Congrats to all the competitors. These workouts were brutal!
Can we get a compare to date please?
Individual, then group, recognition, from one of CFHQ's members. I had a unique perspective, I think, having competed twice and now getting to watch.
Jason Khalipa - Truly a championship performance. Many people may have thought last year was a fluke, but you proved it was not. A 72nd on the run after cramping, falling down, and being rolled out of the way. You managed to finish at all. You then placed no lower than 2 in each of the next 4 or 5 events. It was an impressive display.
Chris Spealler -Your sandbag run was something, as i said to you, that you will want to show your kids someday. I am glad I got to watch it. It was heroic.
Mikko Salo - Nice to meet you and Johan - and Johan. A championship performance and a firefighter, to boot. I know the men in the firehouse will be proud. Good luck in the firefighting competition in a few weeks. I predict you will whip some a$$.
Dave and Kenny Castro, Ronnie Boose and the whole crew - What words could I add? You guys pulled off a minor miracle.
For the Group:
I wish I could go through every person with whom I spoke and exchanged handshakes, hugs, words. A book wouldn't do it justice. Epic event. Glad no serious injuries and given how hard people pushed themselves, that's a significant accomplishment.
Some random thoughts:
- Affiliate cup was a very cool competition. If I don't qualify for next year, I may have to adopt myself to an affiliate, try out, and hope I make it so I can compete. I missed not laying it out there.
- I had an awesome few days of working out with CFSCC - thank you to all of the folks and trainers there he treated me like family.
- CJ, Sage, Brad Pos and the other folks I know at Invictus. Great job. Sage, please ask your dad if I promise to have better form if he'll let me travel with him for a cert. Please!?
- Bingo - thx again for a great time & your thoughts on a variety of topics. Sorry we couldn't rope Paul in, but family calls. Paul, I'll find an excuse to come to Memphis.
- The FRAT & everyone who asked about the RRG - it's coming! Updates soon on dates and states. Check the RRG site for the latest or call me and I'll pretend I have bad reception when I know it's you and what you're asking. ;-)
- For the competitors who ran up against it or didn't finish where they thought they could or should: you deserve nothing but respect from this community for qualifying and even attempting this competition. This was one for the ages.
- Thanks to everyone who came out to watch. Your support of the athletes was inspiring and a credit to this community.
- To the judges (many of you I know - Todd, Dave W, Johnny B, Mike H, EC, etc.) what a tremendous job you guys and gals did. Good judges are invisible and you all were, yet you held the standards while trying to coax/push the athletes to their best output. Awesome work.
- Steve Serrano, Mike Ray, Kathy Weesner, and many others on medical staff. Thank you for your efforts to keep everyone safe.
- The tech staff and media folks - your un(der)appreciated efforts made the scoring, posting, and passing of all the information possible and available to the community, Great work (Ron, sorry for borrowing the printer at just the wrong time but we lawyers generate paperwork brother. And we need our 8.5 x11.)
- Tony B and Jamie - you guys were awesome at, well, everything you did.
- Travis Bagent and John Brzenk: thank you for not tearing my arm off and your good humor.
- All of CFHQ: you guys are the best.
Finally, last but not least, Greg and Lauren: honored to call you my friends. Pretty cool, hunh?
And now it's back to work.
Dale
You guys are truly inspiring!
Enjoyed keeping up with the Games. Well done to Mikko and Tommy in particular, from everyone in Europe - you did us proud, guys! Annie from Iceland - hard luck on the last event. You did amazingly well.
Looked like a great event and weekend - take a well-deserved bow, everyone who organised, volunteered and attended! To EVERY competitor - you are at the pinnacle of a tough, tough sport. You're all competitive which is great! But give yourselves a pat on the back, too! You're inspiring the rest of us.
Peace.
CF Games!
Congrats to the winners, you all are truly the fittest people I have ever seen! The top 3 males and females earned those ranking through pain and effort.
To everyone who competed, well done, just showing up was a challenge. Be proud.
To Coach, Lauren, Dave, Nicole, Tony, Jamie, Mallee, Kenny, every judge, every volunteer and everyone else that I'm forgetting......THANK YOU!! The entire event was top notch from start to finish.
To everyone in the crowds that cheered the athletes on, thank you so much. Everyone I met was friendly, fun, supportive and cool. The CF community rocks.
To all the CF'ers that followed and supported on-line, thanks for making the on-line community an amazing environment of info exchange and support.
I can't even imagine what next year will bring.
I'm sure I'm forgetting to thank someone, but it's late, and I'm exhausted!

Congrats to the winners and all the competitors. I was in aww that anybody could do all those events in two days, let alone do well, very well. You are all truly amazing athletes.
Also thanks to all those who put the games together, and to the IT crew. It was great being able to get updates throughout the day. It was a great event and I hope to be able to go next year.

#59 eric, depends on what is holding you up. Try incorporating light thrusters in your warmup (to make yourself more proficient in the movement pattern) and concentrate on both front squats and push press for strength.

Amazing performances all around- champions, competitors, supporters, and the whole CFHQ team that pulled together to make the "World's FitTest Competition" so awesome. I especially want to thank @305crossfit, @potomaccrossfit, and the other Twitter contributors for cranking out the updates as @roadtothegames was trying to find their stride. For many of us not at the Games the updates and pics were an amazing way to tune in. Next year lets get some real time audio and video on the net. Anybody call SpikeTV yet? ;-) Now back to your normally insane and intense CrossFit programing.

Congratulations to all the competitors! Each and every one of you was inspiration to me as well as to Crossfitters around the world. Epic work.
It was amazing to be there as a judge and witness up close what these men and women went through...without complaining and always with the utmost grace, even in the midst of tremendous physical pain and exhaustion. You should all be proud of what you have accomplished.
Jason Khalipa, you are a true champion in every sense of the word. What an amazing display of tenacity and courage after faltering in the first event. Not many athletes would have had the guts to fight back to the top in the way that you did. The FRAT were calling you "The Comback Kid" on Sunday afternoon and cheering you on! Also, you never cease to amaze me with your humility and kindness no matter what the situation. Thank you for that.
To all the cool people I finally got to meet (and meet again): Cynthia J, Appoloswabbie, Bingo, Goat, Fit Mom, Nelson, Herm, Eric Gohl, Jakers, Strong Lil' Pony, Franiel, Freddy C, Jimi, Jeff Tucker, "Tahoe" Tim, the crew from Crossfit Ventura, Crossfit Oahu and so many more. You are all incredible people and I feel so blessed to be part of this community.
Dave, Tony and the rest of the organizers, volunteers and judges...wow. I have no idea how you did that. Great job. I hope you get lots of well earned rest.
Finally, thanks to my lovely Wife for driving out to Aromas on Sunday to get her first taste of the Crossfit world with me. I'm not sure yet, but I think she took a little sip of the Kool-aid :-)
Until next year...NEVER QUIT!

#82 Eric,
From what I understand they would have started comparing each athlete's top finishes. Mikko and Tommy both had one first place finish, so that wouldn't have broken the tie. But Mikko had two second place finishes whereas Tommy only had one, I believe if I understand correctly that it would have gone to Mikko. But that's obviously close enough to cast doubt on the result. Maybe they would have ended up declaring them co-champions. I really have no idea.

Great time at the games this weekend and meeting the FRAT crew, Herm, Cookie, Strong Lil Pony, Jackers, Nelson, etc. Too bad I didn't find you guys until Sunday. I wish I could have talked to more people on my list, but I was so into the competition. Awesome talking to Jeff Martone, Jeff Tucker and a few of the coaches. It's great to see everyone in person that you have seen so many videos.
Plenty of cool people and an awesome competition. Defiantly the hardest sporting events of all times. The WODs were horrific.
What normally results in larger loads thruster or jerk?
or I guess it should be compared to push press
congratulations to all the competitiors and winners!

Wow!
I just told Dale Saran that I'll have to do the full "bingo" post a little later on--there are just too many images and too many people to do it justice this morning. A couple of thoughts, if I may, as I gaze over the Pacific one last time on this trip:
Brother Dale and I arrived with 3 main goals--see the Martins, see the Glassmans, and soak up as much of the atmosphere as humanly possible. Check, check, and check.
As I said many times of CF Radio this weekend, it's just not possible to describe how well the event went if you weren't there, and how well Dave Castro, Tony Budding, and everyone working with them did. It was a great event, and when we look back on the fact that this is the 3rd CF Games and not the 50th it is all the more extraordinary in all respects. Props and thanks to the organizers and all of the officials, leaders, volunteers for such a great gig.
It's wonderful that everyone wanted more and more info from the site, but the increase in info this year was, what, 10 fold? I can't wait to see what it will be like next year, how much real-time info will be available in how many different forms. FWIW I had an absolute ball talking to Crossfitters of all types and then talking about it on CF Radio. Thanks to Daniel and Justin for the gig.
There are simply too many people to mention and I will forget someone really special and important, so let me just say a very heartfelt thank you to the huge collective hug that all of you gave me this weekend. I get much more from you all, from Crossfit than I give, and I simply will never be able to thank you enough.
And lastly, to my good, great friends Jeff and Mikki Martin, thank you for welcoming me into your family. To Greg and Lauren Glassman, thank you for giving me something to be passionate about as I round the turn and head into the second half of life, as well as giving me the gift of your friendship.
The road to the Games 2010 is long and it starts today. If you'll all have me I'll be right here, in the cybergym all year long. It's good to be a Crossfitter.
Hey Dale, I'm in if you are!
Darrell
Incredible time at the Games again this year; and a great experience providing what medical support we could. Closely watching the athletes throughout the events and monitoring the recovery efforts of many was tremendously educational.
Congratulations to all the competitors. Your participation at this level was a huge accomplishment.
Jason, congrats on your Spirit of the Games award bub; well deserved.
To Linda Leipper and David Millar, we can't express how proud we are of you two. It's been awesome working with you both. Take a day off...
Team Marina, you guys were awesome, it wouldn't have been the coolest party of the year without you guys.
Greg, Lauren, Dave, Nicole, Tony, Jamie, Kenny and all the other staff and volunteers, thank you.
See you at the shop!

Congrats to all the competitors!
Could someone help me out...
I'm looking for a scoring system explanation and a list showing the competitors and their scores on each event. Does winning by 1 second count the same as winning by 11 minutes or out-lifting someone by 1# count the same as out-lifting by 100#?
I'm struggling with the 1st place winner getting beat by 11 minutes in the final WOD and still being "most fit".
I'm relatively new (January) to crossfit, so it may be my lack of understanding.
This just seems counter-intuitive.
prob redundant, but can someone give me the link or somewhere where I can find all the WODs from the games... I can only manage to find the first 3 and the last one... thought there were 8 total? thanks

#121 A football team can give up 11 points in the fourth quarter and still win the game. What's your point here? That the great performance Mikko put forth in the WODs leading up to the final one be ignored?

THOUGHTS ON THE GAMES SCORING SYSTEM:
THE ENTIRE EVENT NEEDS TO BE SCORED WITH THE SAME NUMBER OF PEOPLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE EVENT. THE LAST FEW EVENTS WERE ONLY OUT OF A POSSIBLE 16. IF THE FIRST EVENT WAS LAST, WE HAVE A NEW WINNER. MAYBE THE CHAMPS 11TH IN THE SNATCH TURNS INTO A 50TH WHEN ALL 74 COMPETE.
I STILL BELIEVE CHRIS SPEALLER IS THE POUND FOR POUND OVERALL BEST CFER OUT THERE

#128 Thanks for the reply...not trying to diminish anyones accomplishments.
I'm curious about the scoring system.
Is each WOD it's own "game" and a win is a win regardless of difference in the "score" ie. 1 second win or 10 minute win scores the same; or is there a cummulative scoring system like a decathalon or the Tour de France"
And while I'm not questioning Mikko's (or anyone else's win) specifically...I'll pass on him (or any of the women)kicking my ass.

Congrats to Mikko and Tanya for your wins and to all games participants, you are all truly Crossfit's elite. I hope we will get medical updates on those lost to injury, especially the young lady who will become a Crossfit legend for her run finish. Just think she had to qualify for the games by placing very high at a regional. So, she is Crossfit elite not some schmoe in over head. what would that run done us mere mortals?

#133 "Can anyone please post a link to CLEAR descriptions of the 8 WODS for the Crossfit Games?!"
Here they are:
Event 1 - The Run
The first event is a 7.1km run through varied terrain including both asphalt and extremely steep hills off trail. The athlete's time will be electronically determined by a chip given to the athlete prior to the race.
Event 2 - The Deadlift
Heaviest successful deadlift completed lifting one rep every 30sec. Each competitor will begin at the first barbell, which weighs 315lbs for men and 185lbs for women. Dropping is permitted. The athlete then has 10sec plus any portion of the 20sec remaining to set up at the next bar, which is 10lbs heavier than the previous (so the second bar weighs 325/195). Athletes continue moving to progressively heavier bars until they fail. The athletes are ranked according to the heaviest successful weight lifted before failing.
Event 3 - The Sandbag Hill Sprint
The men will pick up two 35lb sandbags (loosely packed) and sprint approximately 170m uphill. The sandbags begin flat on the ground. The sprint is steep in places, with approximately 100' in elevation gain over the 170m course. Women carry one 35lb sandbag for the same course.
Event 4 - Row / Hammer Stake
Row 500m
Hammer a 4' metal stake into specially prepared, evenly compacted ground (women use a 3' stake)
Row 500m
Event 5 – Couplet
Three rounds of 30 wall-ball shots and 30 squat snatches.
Event 6 – Snatch - 1 rep Max
Event 7 – Triplet - as many rounds as possible in eight minutes of four handstand push-ups on paralletes, eight kettlebell swings (1.5/2 pood) and 12 GHD sit-ups.
Event 8 – Chipper
15 barbells cleans (155 lb.)
30 toes to bar
30 box jumps (24 inches)
15 muscle-ups
30 push presses (40)
30 double-unders
15 thrusters (135)
30 pull-ups
30 burpees
Overhead walking lunges (45)

I'm finding heavy thrusters awkward and hard on my shoulders. I thought i'd try 7 sets of 2 reps so i could try linking the end of one thruster to the start of the next... as some, workouts have a whole bunch of rapid fire thrusters and I'm a flailing spazz when I do those. anyhoo...

What an awesome weekend.
"In peace, there's nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility; But when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Then lend the eye a terrible aspect; Now set the teeth, and stretch the nostril wide, Hold hard the breath, and bend up every spirit to his full height." -W. Shakespeare
This is what I observed first hand at the games this year. Every single athlete that participated in the Games this year displayed a "Fire in the Gut" determination to push through the pain and finish the WOD.
I do not recall her name (someone please post it), but one such athlete that displayed a "Fire in the Gut" determination was a female athlete that split her finger wide open during a WOD. Her finger was severely injured when it came between the steel dowel she was hammering, and an 8lb sledge hammer. This happened when the dowel was only 1/2 way down into the earth. She could have stopped there, but she did not. She pushed through intense pain and finished hammering the dowel ALL THE WAY DOWN!
THEN…..Covered in blood from her mangled finger, and grunting through each stroke on the K2 Rower with the same determination of a tiger killing its next meal, she finished the row portion of the WOD! She was then rushed to the hospital for surgery. This athlete deserves an honorable mention for sure.
To all the volunteers and judges I had the pleasure of working with, who worked very long hours (15 hours straight on Saturday!); some never taking a break to eat; You all did a tremendous job, and that without being paid, or complaining. You displayed (in first class fashion), what my friend Mr. Jeff Tucker often tells us to remember and do: "Maintain a humble commitment of service to your fellow man." -a service that contributed to the over all success of the 2009 CrossFit Games. BZ!
To all the CFHQ staff, well done, a pleasure it was to get to know some of you better, and work for you. Bozman, what can I say brother, you are a true gentleman. Thanks for all the hard work you went through dealing with all of us, and guiding us where we needed to be so the athletes could compete, and the fans could enjoy watching them compete. You and your sister, (I mean wife) are both good people! :)
Side note:
We may all very well see Jason Khalipa standing on the RED 45lb bumpers in 2010; what a tremendous athlete. A modest man, with the heart of a lion. I believe he is the man Mr. Shakespeare wrote of in the quote I shared above. His kindness and humility inspired me, as well as many others.
God bless you all, and God willing, see ya in 2010,
Greg Garcia

Ian, per your question, "do any other crossfiters run barefoot or with minimal shoes?"
I wear Vibram fivefingers. Though I just got them a couple of weeks ago and am still running only short distances with them, I would most certainly suggest them. I feel great. I never want to take them off. I would not suggest running on concrete with them, though I have been doing WOD workouts on treadmills with them (400, 800 meters at a time), and they are fine. I am working up to longer distances with them.
And to the Crossfit community, I am new to Crossfit and am truly inspired by the footage of the participants in the Crossfit Games. Congrats to the winners and all those who participated.
By the way, I have never attempted a thruster. I managed a PR at 155. It only gets better from here though.

I'll take it considering most I've done before on F-SQ is 135# - still working on front rack technique and flexibility issues.
Are you supposed to maintain hook grip in rack position, or let it rest on fingers a la front squat? To maintain grip, can't keep elbows elevated. Seems to be a catch-22 with technique.

I am deeply honored to have been a part of the Games this year. Being in the Shed and in the competition with so many great people will be one of the better memories of my life. Thank you all for your encouragement and inspiration. Your never quit attitude will inspire me for many days.
To all who volunteered and helped with the games, thank you. There is a lot that goes into putting on a great event like that and it could not have happened with out you.
Thank you, Crossfit
Jeff Leonard
Hopefully this thing is televised next year. Maybe The Ocho will pick it up. Seriously, it would be so cool to see athlete profiles with all their Girl/Hero WOD times and their backgrounds coming up intermittently between the WODs. There's so much compelling content. Thought Khalipa's come from behind win would have drawn in some outfit. Spike really should get it. 2016 Chicago Olympics?
WOW!!!! That video was awesome - The games deserves to be televised. There is so much crap on TV at the moment - I'm thinking of "Dance your Ass Off." I'd much rather quality footage of super human athletic performance.
Also, does everyone else notice that in all the photos/videos from the games, even the spectators are beautiful, fit looking people. Not like at the football where John C. Couchpotato is jeering at a missed goal.

Started out by going to BJJ tonight, including about 10-12 rounds of roll time (3 minutes of work time followed by 3 minutes of rest time). I've been off the mat for 2-3 months as a result of my work schedule. Felt strong, cardio was good; played well.
After BJJ I did the wod:

All reps down to a D-Ball and locked out overhead.
Just missed 187 lbs. Shy of my 090528 PR of 190 lbs. Considering I did the wod immediately after BJJ, I don't feel so bad about not breaking my PR tonight.

What an amazing weekend and awesome community! I feel so fortunate and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of athletes and people. Thanks you for all the nice comments and kind words. Getting to meet and talk to so many amazing athletes and fellow crossfitters was the most fun part of the whole weekend. Congratulations Charity, Carey, Mikko, Tommy, Moe, and to all the athletes this weekend...we didn't die! :)
Jolie, I can't thank you enough for your "pre-game pep talk" before the last workout, I kept hearing your words through those damn muscle ups. You are amazing and it was such an honor being out there with you this weekend.
Nicole C, thank you once again for getting me through yet another final workout of the games! You are truly my CrossFit hero and I appreciate all you encouragement! It meant the world to me!
I had so much fun meeting and competing with such an amazing group of women. I'm so proud of our East Coast girls, Christy, Maggie, Nicole, Heather, Danielle, Sarah!!! You girls rock! I love you guys. Molly, I'm so happy you were there this weekend...it just made me feel like home :) Thanks!!! To Mary and all my new Texas friends, thank you for your cheers and kindness. Dave, Tony, Jamie, Nicole, Coach, Lauren and everyone else at HQ, thank you for all your hard work in putting together this weekend and making it yet another well run, organized, spectacular event. To all of the volunteers and judges, thank you for all your hard work all weekend long.
Mike, Keith, and my athletes back home at CrossFit Apex THANK YOU ALL! I love you guys and can't express to you my thanks for all your love and endless support. You have no idea how many times I thought of each and everyone of you and how much your enthusiasm and energy helped me mentally through the weekend. Thanks and I can't wait to see you when I get home :) Angie, you're so cute...thanks for sweet words and all the tears...you're just like Mom!

And to my wonderful husband Josh, I'm so proud of you this weekend, you worked so hard and did a great job! I'm so proud of you. I couldn't have gotten though this weekend without you. You told me I could do it all along and believed in me more than anyone. Thanks baby I love you and I also love CrossFit!!!

I like doubles for max better, you get a feel for the thruster, these felt like a front squat to a press out. Either way dreaded each rep for about 2 minutes before doing them.

I think I could've locked out the 155, but I have a low ceiling in my basement and the 45 pound plate weights hit the rafter on sets 2/3/5, so I was a little hesitant on the 155's. Next time I do this one, I'll go to the gym where I can go all out on the max weight and not take a chance on cracking my basement floor.

Thanks for the info on Nicole Golden. She was very inspiring indeed! It was nice to talk with ya, though briefly, at the end of the games Sunday. See ya next year!

The whole thing felt awkward. I feel like I'm losing so much power from the squat to the press. Needs work, I guess.

at work gym, thought bar was 35# instead of 30# which is why numbers are off.
From floor, squat clean and thruster. Got to 160lb (long pressout at top) and failed twice at 165lb.

Toasted myself trying to press the 2nd attempt at 185.
Disappointed. Need to get wrists into a press position on way up. Use momentum from front squat portion to get the weight overhead. Need to keep core tight, esp abs.
