Filthy. This workout is so money.
I can't wait. I haven't done this since I first started crossfit in the spring.
Haven't seen or done this one yet! LMAO! Looks fun! Did someone make Coach mad?
Now that we are distinguishing between back extensions and hip extensions, shouldn't that be 50 hip extensions?
wow early post cant wait to PR
Oh that's just brutal... Can't wait!
Lisa, you look beautiful, fit and happy. That makes me happy.
The filthy fifty doesn't make me as happy... but it does make me nervous and excited.
I'm ready for the next 3 days. :D
oh the filthy!!! cant wait!!
great i wanna try this one out but i have to sub the double unders with some tuck jumps and i will see if they agree on the wall ball shots if not i will have to sub it with the thruster (45)
Glorious!
I'm home for break and got all my siblings doing crossfit now(all 7 of them)!
had them do scaled version of tabata something else, they were awesome at it!
Oh yeah baby!
I love this WOD.
I did this 5RFT by 10s once, and it is more brutal than just straight 50s.
3,2,1
Max
I seriously "Ooooh Fuuuuu*****" out loud haha.
I've never done the Filthy Fifty, and I had this coming for saying i didn't even want my rest day today.
Can't wait for tomorrow :) I'm ready!
Damn this is the earliest post i've ever seen. it's only 8:42. Looking forward to it tomorrow.

I usually just post my time/loads and a quick "note-to-self" type comment but yesterday was my CF 1 year anniversary and I have decided to try and briefly show my appreciation for this outstanding program.
Over the past year I have become obsessed with every aspect of CF and followed the workouts as closely as possible while preaching the methodology to everyone and anyone who will listen. I have converted numerous friends and co-workers to the lifestyle and plan on converting many more. After toying around with the workouts for a few weeks after a roomate introduced me to them, I gave up my typical bodybuilding style "workout" to devote myself to the program 100%.
Like almost everyone, I started off scaling most of the WOD's and putting up some pretty sad numbers. But since being a die-hard wrestler for over 15 years, the idea of pushing my physical limits was nothing knew and I quickly regained my competitive edge. I have improved my fitness on every level possible and feel better than ever. These are some of my notable improvements:
ONE YEAR AGO :: CURRENT PR (as Rx'd)
Fran: 10:00+ :: 3:06
Grace:8:00+ :: 2:24
(power cleans)
Grace: 16:00+ :: 4:41
(squat cleans)
Helen: 14:00+ :: 9:36
Cindy: 12 rounds :: 23.5 rounds
Annie: 35:00+ :: 16:43
Deadlift: 345# :: 430#
Power Clean: 180# :: 273#
Squat Clean: 175# :: 263#
Snatch: 125# :: 180#
Push Jerk: 175# :: 265#
These are just a few of the improvements I can name off the top of my head. All my improvements were accomplished without any Certs, or ever having an affiliate. The incredible amount of content on this website deserves all the credit. Between the Exercises & Demos, the message board, this blog, and off course the journal, I have gained an unbelievable amount of knowledge.
I have never had the opportunity to meet Coach, Lauren, or any of the brilliant instructors on this website, but I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you for having and inconceivable impact on my life.

(sorry for the long post)
Waking up early to get this in before a supposed snow storm hits. Doubt Ill want to shovel afterwards!
Isn't this be the biggest cardio wod?
#17 COS
Holy cr@p, Brian. Those are some huge improvements.
Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary and all of the fitness you've worked so hard to develop. CrossFit doesn't work if you don't put in the effort. It looks like you've worked your booty off. Good for you.
I feel like I just got punched in the gut! I've done this before, but this one will be the first time at CrossfitNWA and I know Lee's gonna push me to the point of... barf!!!
YIKES!!! Can't wait to get some!!
Crap. More Box Jumps. At least this 50 will be w/o a vest. Or maybe...hmmm...
:)
Planned rest cycle to coincide with travel. I always find a way to do the "Fifty", though, so will do this next week.
Hey COS, happy anniversary! Some righteous numbers there Brother. My first 2.5 years as a Crossfitter were straight off the Main Page, too, although my numbers are pretty lame in comparison.
Congrats!
No Filthy for me, exam, lecture and a 10 hr. car ride ahead...so to make up I skipped rest day.
Love the infidel merch...get some in stock for santa please??
M/24/6'2"/175
4 Rounds (Farmer & Deadlift Carry alternate):
10 yard Farmer Carry 45#plate each arm
20 Push ups (w/push up bars and legs elevated)
10 yard Deadlift Carry 185#
10 Pullups
10 Dips
This sounds brutal! First time doin the fifty- anyone care to offer up what is considered a "good" time? thanks!
Is this for real??..Damn this looks insane...
Ummmm... thanks. This is going to give me nightmares tonight. Can't wait!

Thanks for the props!
I posted the numbers to illustrate the effectiveness of the website and the potential for improvement even if you, like me, don't have an affiliate nearby of cannot afford a cert (God I wish I could).
I was not, in any way, trying to showcase myself, but thanks for the compliments lol.
I have questions regarding missing workouts. I have a busy schedule and sometimes I'm not able to workout. To make matters worse, I've recently become ill this week, so I have missed more workouts than I would have liked. I'm not the type to make excuses and I do my best to hit workouts hard.
My first question is, how much does missing WODs affect overall fitness? Obviously, someone who does all WODs is getting more training than someone who doesn't. But, does missing too many days have a nullifying affect? For example, if after a rest day I do a WOD and then something comes up the next few days, was it like I never worked out at all?
Next, if I miss workouts, can I make them up by doubling them up with others, essentially doing two WODs on some days? Or does that take away some of the benefit?
Lastly, if it comes down to me having to choose between workouts, how do I know which will benefit me the most?
Sorry about all the questions, but I've been doing CF for about 3 months now and I'm totally into it. I just want to know how to best utilize CF with my life style.
This is ironic - I had to take a couple of days off because of severe soreness. Finally listening to my body...tomorrow is my day to come back.
I also get the silliest looks in the gym when I do the Filthy.
Keep kickin a$$ Brian Post 17 - YOU INFIDEL!
Looks like a picked a great day to start the program!!! I think this is going to hurt :)
pumped for this wod...going to do it at a local crossfit gym. First time at one! Cant wait!
I took the last 4 days off (after the 10k)... what a friggin' fantastic WOD to welcome me back. The first time I did this one I was brand new... time wasn't even a factor, I just aimed for finishing it. This is gonna be AWESOME!
Hi. This is my first time posting here to ask a question.
I have reviewed videos of all the exercises. Because of various gym limitations, I will have to sub a couple things--no kettleballs and nowhere to throw medicine balls or even jump rope. Everything else is no problem.
Any suggestions for substitutions? Thanks. This one looks like fun.
This will be my 3rd Crossfit workout and I am not looking forward to this but love the pain.
My legs are already sore by just reading this.
I always love this workout, mostly because of the attention i get once i do it in the globo gym cause i do 500 reps before some guys gets off his Cable Machine doing bicep curls
radianceak -
I sub dumbells for kettlebells and thrusters for medicine ball throws. Jumping rope you'll just have to be creative...
Good luck
I typically do the CF Endurance WOD on rest days but couldn't today. Thank God for that, tomorrow will be Filthy enough.
Lost Boy, just go to the Compare To link to see posts from the last filthy WOD.
radianceak: sub a dumbbell or a plate for the KB, thrusters for med ball (look at the vid) and maybe tuck jumps for DUs.
man, im gettin a 20 pound med ball for christmas, gotta do with 12 pound for now, maybe i'll up the reps.
Due to work and family had a 3 day layoff so just finished Wednesdays WOD. Afterwards, I decided to work on my Double Unders and got my first uninterrupted 50. What timing! I'm psyched for this WOD!
3-2-1-GO!
#34 radiaceak, We use a 35# plate with the grip holes (looks kinda like a mag wheel) for a kettlebell and jumping pullups for the row. Made my own med ball per the FAQ's (weighs 22 lbs) and use a bench for the box jumps.
Just did the Filthy 2 days ago and I must say it's my favorite WOD.
Time 34:03
So this is the "Filthy Fifty" Never done this wod before. Might meet mister pukey. I too work out at a globo gym and I have recieved some odd looks and even some "what the hell are you doing" questions. I just laugh and say crossfit. I do have an affiliate here in Missoula Mt. but can't afford the $97 mo. fee compared to the $24 globo fee. Maybe I should get a second job. Ha, yeah right. Well I am rambling but good luck to all on the Fifty.
Hammer
I was going into the rest day upset with my L pullups and looking to do sub ladders with L pull ups and burpees if this workout turned out to be weak but I'm gonna bite my tongue off.. this looks like it'll sufficiently challenge the F#@% out of my core.
Fifty reasons why I love CrossFit!
LET'S DO THIS!! 3.. 2.. 1.. GO!
I am so excited about this WOD. I was going to do it Monday but the gym was packed. I know I will have accessability tomorrow. Still have to do yesterday's WOD tonight.

Brian, you stated what I think is the heart and soul of CF with these two statements. Your post is an inspiration and drives me to keep my own efforts with my clients (and potential clients) strong.
Your times and numbers are beastly! No doubt, you are one to watch out for at the games this year. Solid numbers all around.
Here's to a successful 2009 for all of us. :)
Hey everyone,
I have a question, can you partition this wo? meaning, do 10 reps of each exercise 5 times through, or is it 50 of each one till done then move onto the next?
thanks...
#48:
straight through, no partitions.
, After gathering great insights from sipping the Kool-Aid for months (moving away from training philosophy focused on bodypart splits lifts – legs on Monday, chest on Tuesday, etc. – and mindless, mostly ineffectual, and often cut short sessions of ‘cardio’), I am ready to take big gulps and begin full adherence to WOD programs. I plan to do a couple of the classic named WODs to develop some baseline times to track my development. The quantitative parameters to Crossfit performance is one of the many things that appeal so much to me about the program.
Brian’s results (post #17) are inspiring, and such personal progress is easily measured with the structure of Crossfit workouts with its discrete times and scores.
Thinking of these issues made me wonder about the existence and/or potential for more sophisticated, web-based data products for Crossfit users, to supplement posting to message board. The vision of what I had in mind was a program where you enter your data (age, height, weight, workout scores) and this program would be able to do two major things: one, track/record your personal development; and two, be able to sort your performance against various populations – like all users, men/women, similar age groups, etc. If such a tool exists, I would greatly appreciate if someone could direct me on how to access it.
If it doesn’t exist, I think it would be something cool and useful to develop. Though I do not have the technical skills or time to develop it myself, perhaps college computer science students among the group looking for a non-lame project might be interested.
By the way, I can appreciate the criticism of focusing on comparing your results to others, as described in http://www.hyperfitusa.com/hyperfit_usa/2008/12/clock-whores.html , but my argument is that you can use these results for competitive motivation without sacrificing form. That’s why we run races, right? If we just wanted to track our 5K time, we could run alone anytime. But, we get healthy motivation from competing with and against others to push ourselves
nice I have been waiting for this to come back. New PR!!
#48 Ian M
No. Complete 50 reps of each exercise before moving to the next.
Best of luck.
Oh yes!!! I love this wod.
I like seeing people's faces when I do this wod. This is what I call a "grunt" wod. Pure primal and pure effort. Non stop.
Newbies, on my mark unleash your hell!!

Oh Filthy Fifty ... how I love to hate thee!
I'm still playing catch up! Do all affiliate owners make sure everyone else works out and your own workouts suffer?
Tonight, made up the Deadlift/Burpee WOD from Monday. Stuck to Games standards and used women's Rx 185#:
4:35 (PR)
I'm very happy with that!
hmmmmmmmm...............
Should i wake up at 6 am to get filthy before my 8 am Econ final?
Or
Should i work out my frustrations from the final while doing the filthy?
Any suggestions?
#50 scott (good name!)
check out www.logsitall.com (WFS) - Bill runs a great site there that does just what you are looking for...
22 / M / 5'9" / 125lb
Uh-oh. This is going to take me 50 hours.
Thanks Jason and Rhinodog:
I'll use a plate or a dumbell--whichever I think I can hold onto without sending it flying...
I have access to medicine balls--all about 4 to 8 pounds....but nowhere to throw it...
I'm new and have been scaling exercises (i.e. hanging leg raise instead of L pullup; squat thrust pushup instead of burpees).
Any thoughts on overall scaling down of this WOD for a small female who can do about 25 pushups any day--and maybe one pullup on a good day? I still want a challenging workout; I rarely see any other females at my gym doing pushups at all....Thanks everybody.
I kind of figured something like this was coming, good thing I don't have to work on Saturday!
what does 1 pood mean for the kettlebell swings?
#55 Mitch
I am debating this very question my self because I have a final @ 8:30.I say do it before your final that way you will feel accomplished even before taking the final. An endorphin high can't, hurt only boost your motivation. I think I will wake up early.
Although, doing it after the final has its own advantage. Either way it's a win- win situation.
1 pood is 36 lbs; 1.5 pood = 54 lbs; 2 pood = 72 lbs. The Faq's section is a great resource.
Between the ladies of the pic and the video, Rip is lucky man.
Man, gotta love crossfit gals.

Hey #47 Herm & #30 Jason D
Thanks for the positive comments... I didn't think this many people were going to take the time to actually read such a long post lol
Herm- I've taken notice of some of your beastly workouts lately and just checked out the link to your log... those numbers are friggin' LEGIT! Good luck with your work towards the Games.
Now I know this will sound stupid, but tuck jumps are just jumping where you bring both knees to your chest right?
filthy rocks!
thanks for the sub ideas.
just commented to a co-worker how its probably gonna be a killer workout off a rest day and....here we are, NICE!
3 2 1 Go!
looking forward to the filthy fifty. i'm definitely going to beat my time of way too long.
#15 -- get ready for a workout man, i love the 50, but its a love/hate relationship
hot girl in the vid/pic too :)
Well I'd just like to say hello to everyone and that I picked the perfect workout to start crossfit on lol! Just a couple questions though. Is plate press a good sub for wall ball and what is a good sub for back extension? I'll be working out in my basement so the only the we have is an olympic bench. Thanks in advance!
#72 This is from the FAQ section
Good mornings (with or without weight); supermans. Of course there are lots of ways to creatively do back extensions - lying over swiss ball with feet hooked under bench or bar (finally! a use for that Smith machine) is a common one.
I'm just a couple months in to CrossFit and I don't own my own jump rope. I'm looking to buy one but don't know which one to buy/where to buy it. Any suggestions or are they all the same?
WOW, I enlarged the photo of Rip. Last time I saw a face like that it was painted green. I think that Lou was lucky Rip didn't audition for the part of the HULK.
50's are going to hurt I just did a pain storm today. I was going for 5 rounds but only got 4 before we were called to a car crash.
Pain Storm:35# db
10 manmakers
20 deadlift
30 one hand snatch
40 overhead lunge
50 db swings

cant wait for tomorrow...
what is the lb. equivilant to 1 POOD for kettlebells, because I only have access to dumbells.
I'm going on vacation to Destin, Florida next week and I'm looking for somewhere to train Olympic Lifting. I've already emailed Mike at Crossfit Emerald Coast but he hasn't gotten back to me.
If anyone has any information that would be great. Just email me...mvp1854@truman.edu
thanks
Matt
hmmmm, carbs for lunch I'm thinking and this time I don't want to see it twice.
#82 1 Pood is the equivalent to 36lbs.
I'm going to give the trainer WOD posted a few weeks back a try.
45 x Double unders +
45 x Squat clean @ 135#+
45 x Ring dip +
45 x Double unders

Hopefully I won't accidentally kill the stopwatch halfway through this time!
I second EXACTLY what Herm said about you COS.
COS, what an inspiration you are. Keep up those great #'s !
Can't wait to do the FF. My very favorite.
I must say, there is nothing like doing a WOD at an affiliate. Once in a great while I will 'treat' myself to a visit. Yesterday I visited the new CF HARDBODIES in Port St.Lucie,FL.
Great instruction and motivation from Fortune and Edson and a gorgeous space. Can't wait to go back.
It was heaven.
Awesome cueing by Rip for the DL. Really helps.

35 Jumping pull-ups
35 Kettlebell swings, 16kg
Walking Lunge, 35 steps
35 sit-ups
35 Push press, 45 pounds
35 Back extensions
35 Wall ball shots, 18 pound ball
35 Burpees
35 tuck jumps
for the absolute %&!$ time of 33:31, a little over 5 minutes worse than my last effort. I blame a 3 week lay-off + still being a little sick + no sleep last night.

Knees 2 Elbows killed
Awsome workout!!

I admit it...I was nervous of this WOD.
As rx'd except 1)knees to elbows are more like knees to waist...and 2)I made it to rep 425....in 29:58.
Goal for next time: Get those last 75 reps. Overall not bad for a CF rookie.

50 Jumping pull-ups

Lost time on Burpees and wimped out on Wall ball shots. Had to break them up in 10s then take a few breaths. I can't wait to get to the point where I don't need a few seconds rest and can go straight through.
Hope tomorrow isn't outta control

I have been working out for several years, but never really realized how functionally weak I was until starting Crossfit in August. I am definatley addicted.
Question: I have a friend who is asking me to help he work out. He is getting back into it after a 3 year break of getting soft. I am definately NOT a Crossfit trainer, but I can't bring myself to set him up with the old treadmill and weightlifting program either. He isn't ready for the full Crossfit yet, but I'm not sure I have the skill, or can dedicate the time needed to walk him through scaling down all of the WoDs. Should I start the Kool-aid IV drip slowly, or just decline him and have him struggle through a bad workout on his own?
Help Please.
50:27 of filthy fifty!
Substituted "good mornings" for back extension (no GHD)
Substituted 15# med ball to 12' for wall ball (no 20#)

PR by 6 minutes! Totally dominate the double-unders. Also, the back extensions were suprisingly easy this time around. Next time, try to get through the first four exercises faster.
22:48 as Rx'd about 20 seconds off my PR in October.
Knees to elbows are still big bottleneck but they were all legit where the knees physically touched the elbows each rep.
Wallballs felt easy but I lost the will to live during them so it was hard to push on those for some reason.

Knees-To-Elbows were slow. Burpees still hurt a lot. Double-unders a bit faster today!

2. CFWU x 2
3. Went through a couple of the movements in the wod then gaver hell.

35lb DB Swings
Wod: Time: 21:26. Pr'd by 2mins 10 seconds while 15lbs heavier than last time.
I am extatic right now! I guess the mass I gained while strength training was somewhat functional. I also pushed the hardest I think I ever have today. At the end of the Double unders I was lying on the ground ready to blow chunks. It was a pretty sureal/humbling feeling :)
Last time I tried to touch a girl like that in the gym, she bent me over the pull-up bar.

Josh M: I feel ya man, I was all about converting people, even before I attended a cert. The first thing I recommend you do is have him read the free CFJ issue that is available on the main page: What is Crossfit?. I had my friends and converts do that first and then, if they were "soft"(untrained) I started them out on just the CF warm-up 3-5 times per week. Nothing too intense and focusing on maintaining perfect form. Remember first form, then consistency, and finally intensity. You be the judge on when to kick him up to the wod's but he'll get more out of the program if he takes it easy and leaves his ego at the door. Seasoned crossfitters know that, but sometimes it's difficult for outsiders to wrap their minds around it. Good Luck and happy Xfitting!!

This workout has always called for back extensions, not hip extensions. I think some people mistakenly confuse the two sometimes, but do the back extensions if you have the equipment.

42 minutes with walking from room to room in the gym to get to the right equipment/space.
This was my first time doing this. I looked at the brand X "puppy" version and sort of went from there.
50 box jumps, 12"
10 jumping pull ups
10 pull ups on gravitron
20 "kettleball" swings using a 25lb plate
50 walking lunges
10 knees to elbows (first 5 were legit)
10 negative chin ups (jumped into them)
26 push press with 35lbs (this was to failure)
40 back extensions
45 dumbbell thrusters (10lb in each hand)
20 burpees
50 box jumps, 12" (nowhere to jump rope)
My grip is the only thing that is tired--callouses are burning. I should have done box jumps on the 18" box, all 50 back extensions, and 25 burpees. Anything in the pull up category still sucks. Maybe I could have done some body rows, just to keep up my heart rate better. Only really filthy part was the burpees. My weak link is pretty clear.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated and thanks for the help I got yesterday.

Jumping pull up question:
The video explanation I previewed started from a half squat position and he was able to touch the bar. The jump provides assistance for the lift. What if I start farther away from the bar, jump and catch the bar and continue with the pull up. Do I get the same effect but to a greater degree, or is that not the proper exercise. Thanks!

A quick few questions before I do this today...
I always watch some demos of the exercises and workouts before I do any WOD just to be safe, even though I consider myself fairly knowledgeable.
However, on the Knees to Elbows demo it shows a kipping version that is "okay for high speed workouts". Does the "50" count as high speed? Or should I stick to strict non-kip form?
And then, does grip necessarily matter? I typically go palms facing away, but i have seen some people with their grip palms facing in. I would think the latter would be slightly easier considering you can give a good bend to the elbows and close that space for the knees to travel.
Just thought I'd ask because I don't want to cheat myself or make whatever my time may be illegitimate. Thank you in advance to any responses I may have!
That was the definition of hell on earth.

I'm snowed in today here in NE Nebraska.
Scooping snow is an awesome workout so I'll call it that for today.
Driveway is 30'long x 15'wide x 12"deep snow = 450 cubic feet of snow shoveled in aprox 40 minutes. I'm guessing 2 pounds/cubic foot so I've moved aprox 900 pounds of snow. I beat my neighbor who was using a snow blower :)
Now it's on to both gramdma's houses, the sidewalks and the back patio! Love it!

From my understanding we do the jumping pullups in this workout vice kipping pullups to keep the aerobic intensity maxed out. This is a heart killer, not a muscular strength WOD. The jumping pullups are going to allow you to keep up a high rep cadence that really taxes your aerobic capacity. You can do kipping pullups or jumps to a pullup but it will change the dynamic of the WOD in my opinion.

I would get your friend to start searching this site like a madman, watching videos, reading articles, getting a subscription to the journal. I've never looked but I hear that BrandX does scaled versions for the WODS so you could get him to check that out and then you won't have to scale or come up with subs for him.

38:15 except replaced 12lb ball with 20lb and did 85 throws to equal the weight. I did not consider a higher target (i.e., 12') like #124 mentioned.
I have done this WOD twice. The first time, it took 38 minutes and I basically skipped the knees to elbows by doing it totally wrong and could not complete the double unders.
The second time, I did it all except the double unders as I was worked from actually doing the knees to elbows correctly. Time: ~38 minutes again. This time, basically as Rx'd with modified wall ball: 38:15. So that is some wacky improvement but improvement no less by actually completing the WOD in the same time as prior attempts.
Been crossfitting for almost 3 months and love it and love the ability to track improvements.

Have you ever heard of "greasing the groove"? It's where you do a bunch of sub-maximal sets of pull ups, push ups, sit ups, etc. throughout the day. I don't really think you should aim for a set number of pull ups, but one thing you could do is try to get in a set during every commercial break if you watch TV. One set should be about 1 or 2 pull ups before muscle failure. Here's a good article explaining what I'm talking about in more detail.

I am very upset, because I didn't write down my beginning time like I usually do, and I accidentally hit my stop button on my stopwatch about 8 minutes in. After I noticed I started it again it was 21:15 at the end. I don't know at what point I stopped it so I don't know if it is safe to say that it was right around 30:00. It sucks to work that hard and have no point of reference as far as time. Guess I'll have to do it again and actually time it! Knees to elbows slowed me down pretty bad and I was smoked by the burpees and double unders but I felt good getting it done.

I have been a somewhat inconsistent crossfitter for nearly a year and a half (with the last 4 months being totally inactive). First time with the 50. I subbed 45 lb. thrusters for wall balls, 35 lb. dumbbell swings for kettlebells and could only do 12 knees to elbows (without having to rest a lot) so subbed 38 roman chair knee lifts. It was not the running all over that was time consuming, it was dodging the people and having to re-set up stations or wait for them. Oh well, it was a real fun workout. I like the Filthy 50.
Congrats COS on your CF anniversary and all the PR’s!

I've been crossfitting for 4 months and this is the third time the filthy fifty has come up. I am proud to say this is the first time I have completed it!!!
This is a sick workout. It is very hard and all of you that are posting these 20 minute times really have my respect. We need some more crossfitters in Greenville, NC.

been at this crossfit for like a week now, so I am in a rundown state. 29:18 subbed thrusters and tuck jumps in( work out at non-crossfit gym) was going fast until thrusters then my body shut down, had to do 10 rep sets to finish( 5 by the time i got to burpees)

Even though I live in the heart of Crossfit, Santa Cruz, I ALSO, primarily live by the website, and do the WODS by myself using the unbelievable resources found here on the main site. In almost three years, I've seen fantastic advances, but nothing like your numbers; OH to be young again, (actually doing Crossfit is a lot LIKE being young again). Congratulations.

33:01 stopped after wall balls. Felt aweful from cold still.
which do you think is better for Knees to Elbows as fatigue sets in - go as high as you can each time until all that's left is leg motion or do as many as you can dead hang and than begin to kip (not swinging wildy of course)? I ask because this is my first time doing this and I doubt I'll be able to do all fifty all the way to the elbow.

As usual, db swings and lunges were only unbroken sets.
In my first week back after about a 1 month layoff to rest and rehab a shoulder. Not expecting a PR, but I was actually on track for one after finishing the burpees. I had worked on double-unders during my layoff and decided to take a strategic rest before trying to knock out the double-unders in a few sets of multiple reps instead of 50 sets of 1 rep like usual. The strategy backfired as I was too fatigued to benefit from my newly acquired double-under ability and then couldn't make up for the rest I'd taken. Feels good to be back at it in any case.

Burpees are the Devil!!
Now, because I suck so bad at them, Lee told me that we are gonna incorporate those into every cfwu I do for awhile so I get better at them. Or so I suck less at them anyway! I never would have thought of it that way. I wonder why??!!
Thanks for your help today, Lee!! Awesome workout!!
I seriously don't get it. Been CFinfg for a year now pretty religiously. Zone like a monster. I've GAINED 8 pounds . . . but my BF % is lower (it already was on the low side for a chickie). So I guess I can deal with that, even though my clothes don't fit anymore. Too bad I'm not a guy, that type of muscle weight would be more welcome . . .
Filthy 50. 3rd or 4th time it's come up since I started . . . and my times are still horrible. They've improved, but only incrementally. I've made INCREDIBLE strength gains (I was a serious runner and "bodypart split bodybuilder" type lifter for 10 years before I started CF).
40 minutes. And I mean, I was DYING at the end. Grip KILLS me on knees to elbows. Burpees are awful still. I look like a wounded duck, I swear. All sets broken. Sets of 5 at the end.
Ugh. I'm not sure why I can't keep up with you guys!
I'm a Kool-Aid-a-holic, now, though. Oh well.
23:58
Stacked those stepper things for box jumps and they were moving all over the place. It was the first time of many that I almost died during this workout.
45# Push presses. The bar felt light but my forearms were cooked!
2 15# DBs for thrusters for the Wall Ball. I felt like there wasn't even anything in my hands. It's was strange.
Burpees sucked the big one
Double Unders ROCKED thanks to the sweet rope I scored. I got my jumps back after that pathetic Annie. 2 sets of 25. Booyah. Only issue was my pants falling off but that couldn't stop me!
M/40/173.5 (man, my weight fluctuates)

Also tried the Last Ascent from thr Hopper deck tonight. Bad idea! 5-10-15 of 225# back squats and box jumps. I'm not even going to post my horrible time. Let's just say my 50's time is faster..
Gains keep coming!

Burpees are still KILLING me...I'm on day 12 of the 100 burpee challenge, so hopefully in a couple of months these won't be the limiting factor in the 50 or any other WOD.
I also got my revenge on the 50...last time I attempted it I missed on Box Jump #37 and took my shin down to the muscle. It's left me with a nice scar, so needless to say, the Filthy 50 and I have a special bond. I will make this WOD my bitch and be sub 20 within 10 months!

32:40 that was about 3 min. slower than last time which sucks, didn't seem slower but the K2E killed me on time and double unders sucked also.

Pathetic time for sure, but I got a DNF last time I tried this. The burpees and jump rope took 25 minutes.

First Filthy Fifty. Been mainsite WODing for a month and a half.

And btw... I squatted 100lbs today, 5 times in a row (x3) :pepper:
I had to sub 25 of the knees to elbows for knees to chest and a 35# DB for the 1 pood.

FIrsst wek of cross fit; did anyone else do it as prescribed and take over 60 minutes?

Similar problem here. I've split 2 pair of shorts just doing squats on my CFWU, recently. Normally that would be a bad thing, but I think I'm getting really good depth!
So, when are you going to post the "pants falling off" video?

Rick, that's great fitness for just starting CF. I have a client that did it today in 58:xx, and he has been CF'ing since April. At the same time, he has come a long way!

Without them it would have seriously been probably a 23 min something. i've got to sub accordingly because its killing me how i physically can't do a rep though i'm more than able cardio wise. the 45 min snow shovel-a-thon before hand prolly didnt do my time favors either. ready to kill this time next time around.

Word up CFers! Yes as most of you have explained, good times have been had w/ FILTHY 50s!
This WOD is a CRUSHER! I've always wondered who the creature was that came up w/ the WOD?
I'm seeing some killer times...good on you bros and cheekas! The VETS are solid as always.
We use a ducktaped up thing. Kinda like a Big F-in flat Egg (BFFE). It's a bit heavier than a 20lbs though. It reminds me off an article about an affiliate (Oregon?) that does bellball. That sounds fun! Anyway to continue-I finished the BFFE at at about 18min-Yeah the burps kicked my A$$. Whats the mantra? Do the things you suck at most. Roger That Coach!!! So yeah suck session began with the burps. Isn't it always like that. Doubleunders are so painfull at this point, but well worth it!
Wish you all the best, keep the reps and times honest!

yeah so 30" high box jumps = great idea for an EXTRA miserable time. i managed to swipe the 24" box and squirrel it away to the little corner next to the squat rack, set my stuff on it and then proceeded with the warm-up in the area to let others know that i wuz usin that stuff, and then this mirror-luvin peacock comes over, plops his dumbbells down on the box, and decides that's HIS corner and proceeds to do his lateral raises, shrugs and reverse flyes there, using the convenient 24" box as his weight rack.... i'm thinkin "thanks a**hole" but of course don't say anythin to the mofo. wut'evs. i hoped i could just wait him out by engaging in an "extended" warm-up period but the dude seemed to be going thru every variation of shoulder isolation exercise in the book, so i decided i'd just go use the 30" high "curb" in the aerobic room for box jumps... and they went well... but after that i wuz toast... i dragged thru the rest of the Fifties and at the end all i could think wuz how IRRITATED i wuz with that guy! rrrrrrrrrr!
