Sweet! Early day tomorrow.

Comment #3 - Posted by: Collin at September 19, 2008 7:06 PM

Augh, this is one of my least favorite WOD's. It ALWAYS seems to take me an hour.

The knees to elbow are a nightmare for me!!

The last time I did 'filthy' it was really, really, hot, and I died on the burpees.

F- it, I'm in. The last few cycles have been exciting. Month before it were things that I didn't agree with, that I didn't enjoy, and that I didn't do. I wish I had...

Newbies take heed: "go with the boards." You won't regret getting involved. I've drawn so many people to crossfit and they've all drawn their own opinions and created their own Crossfit but they all agree that the main page is the best for proper, inclusive conditioning.

Thanks Again,

Your Conflicted Compatriot

ROID RAGE???
Come on Joker & Brent...how about him just finding out he "may" be the top male crossfitter? This should motivate us all. Didn't "little miss badass" Kallista Pappas not yell & scream?
Once I began to "live" crossfit, instead of just "doing" crossfit my intensity level rose as did my passion & emotion for this sport. In the past 6 months I've really began to see how crossfit not only makes me a better athlete..that part is simple.
WHAT IS AMAZING IS THAT IT MAKES ME A BETTER PERSON, FATHER, FRIEND, FIREFIGHTER.
3-2-1...I'm here 2 stay

What was it Ms. NYC said?
"Tiger in a man suit"

Aside from Coach Rip calling steroid users "F'ing Pu$$ies", I haven't heard much in the CF community about it.

But, I know that Jeremy can bring that kind of intensity... without anything illegal. Did you guys stop to think that he may have been psyched at a killer time that he thought might have won him the games?

Sometimes you have to tap a little inner rage to get 'er done anyway. Some people are afraid of that.

Kip # 29

As prescribed, the Filthy Fifty is not partitioned. Fifty reps of the prescribed exercise must be completed before moving on to the next exercise. The exercises are meant to be completed in the order in which they are posted, which also coincides with their level of difficulty.

Comment #25 - Posted by: M@ at September 19, 2008 8:08 PM

Seeing him have energy remaining to do the gorilla act left me wondering how much better his time would have been if he had finished on the verge of puking.

The suspicion of juicing is honestly something that I have increasingly pondered among the elite stars of CF, yet it had seemed taboo to mention. Juicers are among any community as large as CF, just as there are likely many pot smokers, opiate/pain meds addicts, and alcoholics among us as well. Dare I say I like the increased body awareness a certain "supplement" endows me with, though pay for it with the resulting foggy headedness, lack of diet control, and cancerous effect on my alvioli, thus I partake only on occasions when it is offered.

Thiel's performance mirrors Khalipa by way of performing a squat clean to thruster rather than a jerk variety.

Seeing yet another standout performance being performed by yet another CF star who has an obvious solid strength training background really reinforces the need for someone like myself, who is lacking in this area, to do a Rippetoe type phase, as a pre-requisite to becoming a solid CF performer.

800m run to callout site

Deadlift 350 LB fat woman on backboard during hostage rescue

Run 800M w/ 350lb load of lard on backboard to ambulance (while recommending to her to go zone when she is out of the hospital)

Hold HK416 in place forever in low ready

practice ground fighting with crazy guy in gas filled enviornment

One of the best workouts ever!!!!

Swing a 35 lbs dumbbell. It is slightly more difficult that swinging a kettlebell. I've seen it done two ways: 1) grab on end of the dumbbell with both hands and swing or 2) grab the handle of the dumbbell with both hands (overlapping) and swing.

Comment #32 - Posted by: patrick at September 19, 2008 8:20 PM

All the people accusing Jeremy and other top performers of using steroids are out of your minds and RUDE.

You should be applauding all of the hard work they put in to be able to put on shows like that for the rest of us.

Jeremy is an incredible athlete who works hard and obviously has a ton of passion for life, training and CrossFit.

He's also a great man who puts his heart into his work with youth.

Amazing performance Jeremy. You're incredible.

Roid Rage is a myth. There is no such thing...fabrication by the media. The idea that crossfiters don't use performance enhancers is naive. These substances are in all sports for one good reason...they work. Oh yeah & any organization that claims "we test" is also laughable. Either way great performance by Jeremy, Congrats.

Ahh the filthy 50. Good stuff!

Comment #42 - Posted by: Alfie at September 19, 2008 8:50 PM

while i'm sure there are juicers in our community, i think it's easy to point the finger at those who perform at that level. especially when a lot of us cannot but that doesn't make it true. maybe some accusations are true but no one can know unless tested. so leave those who have come out on top alone and if you want "clean" games in the future post the money for 100% testing or find a facility that will test for free.

Comment #47 - Posted by: blake at September 19, 2008 8:59 PM

This probably isn't the best forum for commenting on "performance enhancers", but here's my response to #49:

The concept of "roid rage" wasn't created by the media; it was suggested and studied by the medical community. The jury is still out, but the majority of the discussion is amongst doctors and scientists, not journalists. Check the wikipedia entry on roid rage for more info on that.

While I'll agree that it's naive to think that no one who CrossFits uses "performance enhancers," I think it's reprehensible to suggest that anyone who is seriously involved in CrossFit as a lifestyle would even consider using them. The whole point of the sport is to improve your conditioning through natural means. Anything beyond protein shakes and energy bars pretty much defeats that purpose. The CrossFit community is, to my thinking, too introverted (and I mean that in the best possible way, more like introspective) and self-regulating to allow that sort of abuse to happen.

Comment #48 - Posted by: Brian at September 19, 2008 9:02 PM

I live 2 blocks from CF Central. Jeremy's a class act. Anyone who spends 5 minutes talking to him would laugh at these accusations.

Every time I go by the gym I see Jeremy busting his ass with the same intensity he showed in that video. He brings that energy every day. But I'm sure these posts will give him extra motivation.

I already feel bad for his competition at CFG 09.

Comment #60 - Posted by: CW Limbaugh at September 19, 2008 10:05 PM

As for top athletes in general and performance-enhancers, be they steroids, stimulants, or blood dopers (ie. EPO), it's a sign of the times that we see any amazing performance and think that the performance must have been enhanced. Did anyone watch Usain Bolt last month and not think "Wow, he must be on something new."

As for Jeremy Thiel, personally I've never finished a workout 1st in a heat of nineteen other super-athletes, but if I did, I'd be pretty stoked too.

When's this movie coming out by the way? DVD? View it online? I'm sure you'll let us know, but I for one can't wait.

Good evening and Good morning all. Had to do the WOD tonight/morning due to a combat conditioning course for the recruits in the a.m. and a uniform inspection later in the day here at MCRD Parris Island. Performed it in 32:30 due to it being a break off, no sleep due to inspection preparations, 40 LBS Dumbell for Kettle swing(only closest weight available) Used a 30" high hard wood desk for box jumps, push press was 25 lbs Dumbells in each hand to total 50 lbs(again closest weight available) and took 25 lbs dumbell threw it up to simulate wall ball..the fear of the drop was motivating to get that one done. by the time burees came around...it was a gut check to keep going and then the double unders, started out one double under at a time(hops in between0 then last ten straight through for completion. Loved every bit of the pain and struggle to keep going. The combat conditioning constists of 1.5 mile run out, the series of combat conditioning exercises, many from crossfit, and 1.5 mile run back. Guess I am getting extra WOD time in..lol It's for the recruits, but as the Senior Drill Instructor for my platoon, I like to set the example. I am also highly suggesting the crossfit to my recruits and often taylor in house WOD's for them. Mu better than the old way they had us work the recruits, and they all love it. Semper Fidelis and God Bless

Comment #66 - Posted by: Bred at September 19, 2008 10:43 PM

I just watched the video and that is a far cry from ROID rage. The roid rage people talk about ends with people in hospitals and jails. I knew a dude who was admittedly on roids and entering into the then WWF and he beat the living hell out of 2 older men on the freeway and went to prison for a number of years. That is roid rage. He gained 35#'s of muscle in about a month. Maybe it was his lovely disposition but I think that the steroids might have played a role.

Jeremy Thiel is just pumped in my humble opinion.

GO CROSSFIT!

Well, to get my "roid comment" out of the way. I unfortunately can't watch videos on these crappy government computers, but it seems stupid to me for someone to accuse a true crossfitter of using steriods. I've only been doing the crossfit workouts for a couple days now, but I've watched the sight intently for a while. It seems out of the "core values of crossfit" if you will. I've been nervous about using my protein, that's how pure I think Crossfit to be.

Onward... I read this WOD over and over and over and every time I convinced myself that I would be able to move from workout to workout relatively easily in the cramped, overcrowded ship's gym, visions of waiting 15 minutes for space and equipment kept popping up in my head. Since I just don't want to risk throwing in excess amounts of time into this WOD waiting, thus throwing off the pure essense of what it stands for, I have decided to hold off on the Filthy Fifty until I can get back on dry land with my own equipment and tons of space. I perused the Girls and Heroes workout and thought "what scares me as much as the looks of the Filthy Fifty that will be easily accomplish with my lack of resourses?" I made my decision. I will be doing Murph today.

Comment #70 - Posted by: Sailor Erin at September 19, 2008 11:16 PM

Filthy Fifty - 53:24 Substituted good mornings for GHD Back Ext. Used 62lb kettle bell for swings, jumped 31in box, sub'ed "murder ball throws" for wall ball shots. The "murder ball" is a 51lb sandbag that we duct taped up.

Comment #71 - Posted by: Joel C at September 19, 2008 11:37 PM

Everything scaled to 25 reps/set.

Subbed reverse crunches for Knees-to-Elbows, no pull-up bar available; subbed dumbbell thrusters for Wall Ball.

Accidentally stopped the timer somewhere between Walking Lunges and Dumbbell Thrusters, at whihc point I restarted it again.
Clock read 16'54, but who can tell?

After yesterdays 5k on a track (7.5 rounds) somebody told me by accident that this track is no standard 400m track but only 333m long.

I began using this track early this summer since the first "Griff" wod for all the sprint wods.

Meaning that all my times for the runs are about 20% to fast. Big disappointment.

I apologize to the CrossFit community for posting those false times.

Next thing I do is weigh all my plates and bars...

There was no way I was going to do this particular exercise today. My METCON has really taken a beaten the last two days with my modified WODs.

So, I did 7x3 Push Presses.

1) 155
2) 175
3) 195
4) 205
5) 210
6) 210
7) 210

Last three sets were a bit shaky.

It's not that we don't all know Allison is a strong girl. She's made sure through overbragging. Being proud of yourself is GOOD. Overbragging is annoying. I think her enthusiasm and promotion of CF is great. The thing that I believe has rubbed CFers the wrong way is certain displays of her behavior in the vids. 'Mature' CFers are on this site for one reason. If they want to see soft porn, they can go elsewhere. There's just something about mixing CF w/ soft porn that doesn't feel right here. There's PLENTY of websites that mix the two but HERE, it is 'wildly innappropriate' because many of us are as equally passionate and very protective of CF. The many people that Allison rubs the wrong way are definitley not jealous...any girl can go get oversized boobs or already have natural (either way, doesn't matter) swing them around and constantly refer to them in an effort for desperate attention. Your pr's are inspiring. That's what we WANT to see and hear about. I think most people enjoy hearing about your adventures too. You just may be too young to understand why you've lost so much credibilty here but you can always change it around and regain respect by taking out the soft porn of future vids like throwing our bra around. Or really anything that has to do w/ your breasts, good God. You have many other opportunities elsewhere to exploit them. We're interested in your fitness. This is the first and last time I'll refer to this subject, but Allison, you need to understand why people continue to hate on you. You keep bringing it on, but I think you'll figure it out and realize there's a time and place for everything.

I have met Jeremy a few times and he seems like a great guy. That being said, cross fit contends that any body builder with large gains on their program is juiced because their programs only work with roids. Jeremy has gained MASSIVE ammounts of muscle and power. When I met hime he was killing wods and eating well but not performing near the current level. In any other sport we would cry foul. Not accusing, but I would like to see the program that put all the lean muscle on him in 7-9 months. I have done SS and CF and eat ultra zone, never seen gains like this on anyone. Allison NYC---SHUT UP..you don't have to comment on every post you see, especially when you don't know anything about it. If you saw what Jeremy looked like a year ago you would see that he was bigger THEN he is NOW. Jeremy is my brother n law, so of course I'm going to be somewhat biase in my comments. To assume JT uses steroids is the most absurd idea I've ever heard! For those of you doubting this man take a LONG look at yourself and ask yourself what is wrong with me???? why do i hate on someone i don't know? i don't know how he eats? i don't know how he trains? i don't how he meditates? I obviously don't know Jeremy Thiel. here's an idea for all you haters, come to Austin and have lunch with Jeremy and his family at CrossfitCentral and get to know him, you just might eat your words! but if your really an ASS, and too prideful, keep on posting your ridiculous comments.

I have a question.

I know that there are alot of doctors and other very smart people on the boards, and I need your help if you have any to give.

I recently took on training a client with Fibromyalgia. She is 32. She was diagnosed with FMS when she was 20. She is on a boat load of medication. The only she hasn't tried is exercise.

Her doctor told her that exercise is something that she HAS to do, and is something that could make her pain less. That and stretching. I can certainly help with both. HOWEVER....

Most of the clients that I train, most of the classes that teach have clients that are all looking for the same thing...to train as hard as they possably can and if they can hardly walk the next day, then itis just a wonderful reminder of the hard work, effort, focus and drive they put in the day before. I share that, as I am sure alot of you do too.

If she is sore the next day and it "stirs up" her fibro, it could debilitaing for her, and the pain excruciating. I found a little humor in when I am so sore that I have to fall into the couch to sit down after doing a 1 mile lunge with a 50lb vest. Such is not the case with her.

She also does not have...um..."the bug". What do I mean by that. Those of use who have been joyfully infected with CF, exercise, using our minds and spiirits to make us fit, healthy and ready for anything that may come our way during "game day". She does not share those sentiments...not yet anyway.

This is a very delicate case and although I have a stack of books from Borders, 100's of pages printed from the computer and have taken notebooks of notes (all in the past week), I have found that alot of the time my best source of info is YOU.

So if you have any sound advice, if you have have any fact based evidence, EXPERIENCE in this, please please please post on the comments or shoot me an email or both. As with alot of things posted on here, so many people can benefit from the knowledge another has just by sharing it. Heck...that is why we all know Crossfit. Because of ones idea being shared, and those people sharing, and on.

Thank you in advance for your help with this. I appreciate it and am grateful for CF and its community, and am grateful to be a part of it.

~J~

So, how many people do back extensions and how many do hip extensions? If you don't know the difference, watch this (wfs): http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_GHD.wmv

At a recent cert I heard one of the trainers, while discussing the hip extension, say "This is the movement expected when it says back extensions on the mainpage." Thoughts?

Off to do the filthy fifty.

Now here is a question: Their appears to be no "Official" name for this WOD from HQ. Did someone come up with the rather obvious name?...probably the first person who did this WOD. The first time I did it, I had no idea it had a name. But, I sure as heck was cursing it. LOL
My next question: Now that it has a name, why hasn't HQ adopted the name and titled it as such here for the WOD?

CF is a community. It is made up of people of many different shapes, sizes, ages, races, genders, beliefs, and experiences. It is an interesting cross-section of the world's people who have one common interest, fitness. If you don't like Allison's posts, don't read them or just ignore them. I personally like them as they allow me to learn more about my fellow cross fitters.
If we got rid of all the personality, then all we would see are numbers. I like seeing posts with "I went easy today", "this workout sucked", "guess what I did today?", "here is the latest on what I have been doing".
If Coach didn't want those posts, he would delete them. Same thing with the videos and interviews. He keeps those on the site for a reason. I think it is to show that CF can apply to anybody regardless of their background. This free site is for everyone. We are all ordinary people with extraordinary visions to drive or succeed. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Coach, or go somewhere else.

Allison: Keep posting about whatever you want. I love to hear about your adventures and what is going on in your life.

Coach: If I am off base and/or speaking out of turn, I apologize. I love this site, and am very thankful for everyone who helps make it possible.

.02

I'll be doing this workout and CFE later.

Was that necessary? The screaming and chest pumping was ridiculous. It was a great performance, absolutely, but how embarrassing. Could you imagine if Michael Phelps had done that after winning 8 gold medals? He would have embarrassed his country. I’m sure Jeremy was bringing some intensity to that workout but, so were every one of our Olympic athletes and I don’t remember any of them acting like a jackass.

A lot of women have unhealthy, unrealistic body images. They think they're fat or unattractive when they're not. This is a place that should be fighting a full on war on that bull. I know I am. What kind of message does it send when the women here are reading that a 130lb woman is FAT? I can handle it even though I shouldn't have to. Some women can't. So for their sake, rethink what you're saying.

I think it's sick that you intentionally conjure up hate inside of you for the sole reason of lashing out at someone to make them feel badly. Guess what - that sh!t doesn't work on me. My self-esteem is intact and it's not dependent on the comments section of CF.com.

These comments posted about me or anyone else are mean-spirited and are a reflection of the person making them.

Ok, so I completely underestimated Murph. It looked hard, but not as hard as I was thinking halfway through the squats. Since no one in my shop does Crossfit (they all seem too into body building, they even obsess over this book that shows certain workouts to work certain muscles... they doubt crossfit actually... I have 9 more weeks to prove them wrong) I had no one really motivating me. This was the toughest part, motivating myself. I got to like 180 squats and had all the pushups and pullups (assisted) completed and I wanted to call in quits so bad. Then I thought about my best friend in Afghanistan who turned me on to Crossfit and I pushed my way through. That last mile I felt so odd trying to run though. It was like my legs forgot how to run.
My Time: 1 hour 23 minutes
I was dissappointed at first, but then I realized, "hey, i finished that thing, on my own, and didn't halfa$$ anything!" I feel invincible! God I love Crossfit!

Hey man, I have a mother that has Fibromyalgia. She is 49 and you just described her attitude perfectly. The pain she feels just totally consumes her life. She is also on a crap load of Medication as well. I was in a car wreck last year and when she was doing her rehab exercises, she started to really improve with the Fibromyalgia. She stopped the rehab and it's back to the way it was. Most of the stuff they had her doing was stretches and rubberband workouts.

More than the exercise though, sugar is a big thing. Her doctor told her to cut sugar completely out of her diet. She did and it helps her significantly. I don't know if you can suggest that to her or if she has tried it, but it really helped my mother out. Well, hope that helps man.

You deserve to be proud for finishing the Murph. Congrats ~

And to every chick, woman, lady and girl out there doing CF, hats off to you....no matter your height, weight, shape or even cup size. This is hard work and demands a lot of self-motivation, sweat, pain and will. Most folks I now aren't willing to invest the time or energy in CF -- I think it's pretty effing admirable that you are. Keep it up, press on and ignore the negativity. It's a masked attempt at knocking you back a peg, for whatever reason.

Interesting comments day. Looks like a lot of censorship has happened, lots of comments on posts that no longer exist.

Not sure why people would assume a guy is on steroids from that video and even if you did, why you would care so much.

Not sure why Allison became such a big topic, but it seems to happen so often.

Not sure why there is so much negativity in here, but it seems to be becoming as common place as the Allison arguments.

The only thing I am sure about is that as more people post, the substance of the posts is going down. Seems to be that way on most forums. You start with a group of hardcore enthusiasts, it attracts more enthusiasts, then you suddenly start to get an influx of asshats. Well, the asshats have arrived and continue to immigrate.

Time to end the silent moderation and lock it down in there some. Either by only allowing CF Journal subscribers to post or limiting it in some other way. Until then, the comments section will just keep getting more and more like a cesspool that you have to wade through to find the interesting stuff.

I swear all of you can find the most inane things to bellyache about. For the last 2.5 years I have been a "just the scores poster". Today, I am breaking tradition.

Ya'll need to stop some of the crap on this board, and keep talking about the positive side of what this lifestyle does to a person. I know I speak for the handful of crossfitters out here at this combat outpost that watching and listening to the videos makes us all feel just a little more included in normalcy, a little bit closer to the USA. You all don't know how lucky you are.

When I am laying on the ground in Iraq after a Fran with my heart about to explode, It always makes me feel a great deal better to know that there is a whole community of people who feel just a crappy as I do, and are probably laying on the floor of a much nicer place, with much better looking people around--at least in my version of the dream ;)

Allison, you are probably one of our favorites out here- for some reason watching one of your videos seem to motivate us all just a but more. That goes for all of you from the HQ as well. You all are the best USO show we have.

I used to read these comments before I worked out for tips, successes, failures, new PRs and information about what a great thing it is to be alive, healthy, and able to try to better your last time/load. Now I have to sort through a bunch of BS on roid rage? and bashing Allison? Are you kidding me?

Did you watch any of the olympics besides gymnastics? Did you watch the medley relay where the US beat France by a fingernail? Phelps was going nuts, shouting, and pounding his chest. When Bolt won the 100m he was doing the same.

Did you watch any of the weightlifting competitions? If not, check out the German who won the men's heavyweight division. That's what happens when you invest your heart in soul into a performance.

If you truly think enthusiastic shouting is inappropriate or unnecessary you're missing the point. Great efforts should be celebrated not critiqued.

Scale everything. Nobody should meet pukie until they have a reasonable base of fitness. By the time she does, she should already see results. (also have seen others meet him because they are pushing themselves) For that matter I'm not sure you should push her that hard ever. Get her close yes, but if she doesn't see crossfit games in the future and doesn't have other elite goals, then pukie doesn't need to be in her future either.

Not everyone needs to be elite. Set smaller goals for her.

I know I'm gonna regret this. But this "controversy" over Allison and Jeremy is really the same thing: people being uncomfortable with other people's methods of expression (oh yeah, and in Jeremy's case ENVY). So what if Allison talks about her boobs? Others conceiving of that as soft porn is their own damn puritanism showing through (and btw, I've seen some videos of women working out on the main page that come a lot closer to soft porn than Allison's vids) Who cares?

Jeremy's aggression makes people uncomfortable because, why? It's scary? wtf?

When I was in law school women were put down for looking too cute in the court room. When I competed in moot court competitions (careful to never be the least bit sexy) I never lost an oral argument, but I was consistently told by the older white male judges that I was "too aggressive."

My point is that all these criticisms are based on people's own perceptions of how people should act. And the "actors" in each case are just trying to get their job done. Jeremy is just straight up a badass. And Allison has an enthusiasm that is genuine.

Express your values through your own actions, don't push them on others.

"Intensity is the independent variable that elicits a favorable rate of return of adaptations" Coach Greg Glassman

You want a chance to beat Khalipa, Everett, Thiel, Spealer, Barber or OPT? Or how about just being mentioned in the same breath as them?

Then you have to bring it, and you have to bring it harder every time you do a w/o. Period.

Awesome job Jeremy ! Keep up the strong work my friend!!

Oh man, first try at the Filthy Fifty and finished in 28:58.

Had to stack some of those fancy aerobics steppers for the box jump so it came out to about 30" and used a 35# DB for the kettles. The burpees continue to be the bane of my existence as they took way too long, those and the knee to elbows. Either way, not too unhappy with the time, next time it comes around I'm sure I'll be closer to 20.

#141 BDN, I couldn't agree with you more. Granted I'm not in the suck but so many posts these days just seem to be trolling for controversy and leading away from the real intention behind a crossfit lifestyle. My 2 cents: crossfit is about healthy living and achieving a level of fitness that could only be described as perfection. All of this political crap has no place on a message board designed to motivate people towards that goal.

25 Jumping pull-ups (lots of jumping)
50 dumbell swings, 15 pounds
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
25 Knees to chest
7 Push presses, 45 pounds - used the mens bar alone
50 sit ups
25 Wall ball shots, 12 pound ball
15 Burpees
100 single unders
(didn't do for time...just happy to do it)

10 weeks ago:
Box jump: you want me to do what?
Jumping pull-ups: uhh, what?
Kettlebell swings: What's a kettlebell
Walking Lunge: ok, that sounds reasonable
Knees to elbows: you want me to do what?
Push press: uh, I'll try but....
Sit ups: ouch
Wall ball shots: just a minute, let me buy a ball
Burpees: couldn't do one
Double unders: didn't own a jump rope...brought memories of elementry school

A few minutes worse than pr. This is the first time I did strict burpees. Before, I considered 1) chest to ground and 2)hands above head with feet in the air to be the only mandatory positions. It definitely slowed me down.

I don't know why I came into the workout thinking I was shooting for 26 minutes (the last time I did the Filthy Fifty it was 29:36). So I killed myself trying to make the 26 minute mark, and when I finished, I was happy I made it in 25:31. However, when I double-checked my post from July to see my time difference, I realized I took a whole 4 minutes off my time (I consistently shave around 2:30 off my Filthy Fifty time every time it comes up; no more than that). I guess aiming for the "phantom" 26-minute PR made me do exactly that...weird!

While watching the Ryder cup on t.v today i had the idea of having a crossfit event with team U.S.A against team Canada/Europe/Australia.
It could be mixed teams and possibly held during or after the crossfit games.
If it took off it could become an annual event and alternate between countries.

What do people think?

Is it a runner or non-starter?

Regarding the comments that seem to support steroids or the occasional use of a "supplement" or whatever...there is no way around it-steroids is cheating!! If you use steroids, don't put as Rx'd on your CF post unless you put as Rx'd except I use steroids. It's no different than saying I did a 5k in 20 minutes except I only ran 2.8k. If you can't perform CF without steroids, maybe this isn't for you. Try basket weaving, gardening or a globogym and realize that anyone can do what you do by cheating rather it's cutting a run short, not recording a stroke on the golf course, stopping the watch too early or using steroids; therefore, your false accomplishments are nothing.

#186-steroids are also a supplement used by professional & olympic athletes, etc. I agree with #184. The majority of the CF community doesn't agree with using weight belts, gloves, straps, etc. because they are viewed as a crutch. Tob consistant, the same majority would have to agree that supplements are also a crutch. I've heard the argument that if you are in a jungle trying to escape, you can't pull out the gloves-what if you are in the jungle and don't have anything to mix your supplements.

Comment #209 - Posted by: willy at September 20, 2008 10:55 AM

I'm off to the gym to get my filthy fifty in. Before I go, I have 1 suggestion and 1 question...

When posting workouts with kettlebells, why not give the weight in poods (if you must, since that's the tradition), and in pounds (since that's what most of us know). Every time kettlebells are prescribed, there are at least a half-dozen questions on here about how much a pood is. How many others don't know, and don't read the comments or ask what that means? (For the first several months, I thought it was a typo for "pounds"). Make it easier by giving the weight in poods and pounds, right out there on the front page.

Now my question - where can I see AllisonNYC's vids? They sound awesome. (Sorry if I missed the link here somewhere - maybe post here in the comments??)

Oh, and congrats to Jeremy on his accomplishments at the CF Games. Rock on.

Wow.. I finally got around to watching that video, and all i can say is.... REALLY? People who are somehow jumping all over steroids as the reason for the screaming and as someone called it "gorilla act" has obviously never been involved in competitive athletics at a high level.

Even in swimming (my background) these actions are common. Look at Michael Phelps after quite a few of his swims and especially after his teams 4x100 relay performance. I use to talk to myself (sounds worse than it is) when i swam and during races often screamed at myself if i needed to pump myself up. To have that much energy after an amazing workout/competition is NATURAL, its called adrenaline.

Can i say for sure that people in CF are not juicing, no..im sure some are. But to point to that video as even remotely raising the idea of steroids is just ludicrous and actually belies a very narrow view of sport and competition.

I dislike AllisonFit because I think it takes too much attention away from CrossFit. I enjoy reading her posts and stories on the comments, but when features on the main page focus more on celebrity than on fitness, I think it detracts from the community. This isn't even the case today, so I have really no clue why this discussion has even started, or gotten to the point where posts are getting deleted, even. It's kind of funny...

I don't know if we've ever seen Allison do a benchmark WOD, or set a PR, or really much of anything other than look good, show enthusiasm, and be happy. This isn't a bad thing, but I think it has earned her a celebrity status that in some ways takes the focus away from fitness.

There are a lot of "Leave Allison alone" posts and "For some reason, we really like you over here in Iraq" type stuff. Most of these posts are pretty transparent. Allison's a great looking girl, with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. But is she a CrossFit icon in the same sense as Annie, Nicole, Eva, etc? I don't think so, and there's nothing wrong with that. Doesn't make her any less of a CrossFitter.

Yet stand Allison, Annie, Eva or Nicole next to each other, in their workout clothes, and most of the comments probably will be about Allison (excluding Allison's typically humble comments). We are a superficial species, and I guess there's nothing too wrong with that either.

I just get a bit tired of the AllisonNYC dogma that goes around here.

As for the roids suggestions, I think it's funny that you'd use this performance as your basis. I think it's perfectly legitimate to accuse an elite athlete of juicing if there is cause to do so. Those who do it should not be cast aside as "jealous." That's a similar type of AllisonNYC dogma. Just because she's hot, and CrossFit certified does not make her right on all accounts.

CrossFitters should not be exempt from suspicion, although it's not like this is the MLB or anything. We question other athletes around the world, so why not hold the same standards for our own? I don't know a thing about Jeremy, so I hope this isn't construed as applying towards him; it's just a general thought of why it's so taboo for us to accuse other CrossFitters of juicing, but not other athletes (even if we're dead wrong).

So...

Allison, keep showing your enthusiasm, having fun, looking good, and training hard. I hope some of this dogmatic celebrity dissipates with time, and people worship you for the right reasons.

Jeremy, magnificent performance.

... and so my week off continues.

Wow, this WOD was *very* difficult. For me, the most difficult exercise was the burpees, which are difficult by themselves. However, after roasting my legs with all of other exercise, I felt Mr. Puckie come on after each set of 10 burpees. If I could do it over again, I probably would have paced myself a little better during the early exercises so I would have had a little more gas in the tank for burpees. Regardless, it was an awesome workout, and I'm looking forward to a day off (golf) tomorrow and starting another cycle on Monday.

subs:
1. used 15lb wall ball (20lb not available)
2. it took me about 2 minutes to get 8 successful double unders so I switched to single unders and did 100 more.

Well I just finished my first week of Crossfit and this WOD let me experience a whole new level of pain. I love it! I was really focusing on doing every rep cleanly and correctly and I feel happy with what I did.

The first serious pain hit with the knee to elbows. But then the burpees killed me. I was at 22:15 going into the burpees and didn't finish until after 33 mins - 11 mins on burpees! And my rope jumping skills are sub par so after 8 successful double unders after about 30 tries, I switched to single unders and did 100 more.

I can't wait to see if I can improve on this time.

Not sure what you think, but is there any interest in folks posting their CF tenure along with their WOD times, perhaps as their CF commencement date?
It would not only help identify those experienced in doing the various WODs, but also serve as motivation for possibly reaching some of these spectacular times in the months and years to come.
If you don't like this idea, don't gimme a lot of crap about it. I'm just asking ~

I first want to say that I don't know anything about steroids or roid rage but I do know Jeremy Thiel. Jeremy is one of the hardest working, most intense people you will ever meet and he is inspiring in everything that he does. He doesn't just get pumped up about his own success - he also is excited for anyone and everyone that does well around him. He is an extremely motivated individual that believes in people's potential and brings out the best in those training around him. He devotes his time to the community (crossfit and the Austin community), young athletes, his amazing family, his business, and his clients. It really shocks me that people with the Crossfit mindset would misconstrue someones hard work and dedication as steroid use. I bet a few people out there have had some great results from Crossfit and haven't even put in 1/10th the effort that Jeremy has. Jeremy has unlimited potential and will give next years competitors a run for their money.

Apparently I didn't hit post earlier:

On 5/9/08:
26:51 Rx'd, but 18 lbs. ball

On 7/20/08:
20:40 Rx'd, but 15 lbs. ball
(Previous two were at the university globo facility)

Today, first "Filthy Fifty" in my affiliate:
20:42 Rx'd, w/ 25 lbs. ball --> PR
(homemade med ball, at least 20 pounds)

I was hoping to get under 20 minutes, so I was a bit bummed about that. Technically it's a PR since I actually had the correct wallball weight.

Everything was unbroken until the KTE. The wallball drained me, and made burpees a challenge. I couldn't get into a rhythm with the double unders.

Keep workin' hard everybody! Rest day tomorrow!

Am I on steroids?...NO.

The dirty thirty was my 4th Crossfit WOD. Mind you last time I didn't read "steps" for the lunges and did double the amount, but that doesn't equal a 13 minute improvement, I'm just getting better. That's what it does, make your better than you were.

I don't think Mr. Thiel is on the steroids, I think we was just excited and on an adrenaline rush. If you don't know what that feels like then I would contend you're not doing CF right. Oh Snap! I said!

WTC

Comment #288 - Posted by: Geoff at September 20, 2008 1:50 PM

Subs:
18" box jump
knees to as far as I could get them
12lb medicine ball (gym finally got some new ones, though still not quite heavy enough, but a lot different than the hard 9lbers I used previously)
interspersed the first 25 burpees during my rests on the wallball shots

32:37

Over a minute slower than last time, but didn't have it in me this morning and the medicine ball took a while to get used to.

10 min spin on bike.

Semi-CFWU. Sub'd in some of the motions for the WOD and made sure form was spot on.

First Filthy Fifty as rx'd (Home made 22lb med ball): 23:26

Knees to elbows took ages. Burpees were tiring as well. Shooting for a sub 21 min time by the end of the year!

Cool down: 10min spin and stretching

I am going to post this again and see if I can get some help. 293 posts and only two people have anything to share about this? Really? We'd rather focus on whether Jeremy is using steroids (which is frickin absurd) or whether Allison should or should not post about her boobs (which is aloso frickin absurd...of course she should, as she has the right to talk about what ever she wants to like the rest of us! Frick...leave her alone!).
So I will post this again and see if I can get some help from the community.
Thanks again in advance...I think.

REPOST:

~J~

Ok I'm chiming back in...

For all you Buddhist Monks and Jesuit Priests out there...Leave AllisonNYC alone.

Yeah I'm in Iraq too, what of it. However I would agree as would many; Allison is a pretty woman, however she's not my type and I LOVE MY WIFE(just for emphasis I'm not in that club or whatever), so the sex appeal is a mute point in influencing my following comments.

I would say Allison represents the "every woman" and that's what makes her so appealing, she wasn't an amazing athlete that just picked up CF like Eva or Libby. She just found it and it excited her so she stuck with it, and if there is a cult of personality that has grown around her bubbly persona and good looks, so what, if it brings new converts what's wrong with that?

Danny and XPI you have no more right to claim you know the "true" or "pure" Crossfit anymore than Allison.

Crossfit is not a religion, it shouldn't be, that would ruin it. If it was close to a religion it would be like Zen, of which a central tenant is "nothing sacred." Remember when something is "perfect" it's dead.

So relax, stop being so up tight and maybe try some form of pornography soft or hard it seems like you need it.

Remember:
Be excellent to one another...and Party On Dude!

William #194, gaucoin #281: the final event at the Games was a full squat clean from the ground followed by weight overhead to locked out position, some portion of the ear visible in front of the arm. Whether the clean was caught in the power or squat position a squat was necessary prior to the press in order to count the rep.

What is missing in today's discussion is perspective. Come on, Jeremy is what? 23? 24? Have you ever been in the locker room after a college or high school football game? Some emote more than others, some don't do that so much, and most do so more in youth. Just as I am awfully unlikely to take my shirt off during a WOD (and certainly not in the general vicinity of Jeremy, or for that matter Ken C), I'm unlikely to have quite that type of reaction after a strong performance.

I'm also 48 years old.

Filthy 50 tomorrow.

JroCk:

Fibromyalgia is a weird and strange disease. Each individual seems to have her very own version. Although I have many patients so afflicted, my part of their care does not allow me to opine on their exercise. I rather doubt you will get too much traction on this subject here on ANY day, regardless of the background noise.

Don't take this one personally; you've simply asked a very difficult question that really does not have a single simple answer.

The reason I ignored the question is b/c I wasn't sure it was a serious question. He squats b/c the CrossFit Games rules stated that the athletes hip must dip below the level of the knee ie: below parallel. The workout was not "Grace", it actually called for Squat C&J's.

#294, JroCk, I would say that the on-ramp for her needs to be EXTREMELY gradual. Probably scale it to what you think would be really, really, easy, and then cut that in half. I have no experience with the condition myself, but one of our clients/trainers is actually somewhat familiar with it and I just called her so that she can reply or e-mail you. She's at a wedding today, but hopefully she'll be able to reply on Monday.

Gerard #199 - a Crossfit Ryder Cup? Inspired idea! Would be like the President's Cup / Ryder combined, cos the US would be too strong unless it was against the rest of the world.

Enjoying the actual Ryder Cup. Small gripe - I am SO tired of this "Get in the hole!" and "Birdie time!". WHY DO THE US CROWDS NEED TO SHOUT LIKE THIS 1/1000TH OF A SECOND AFTER SOMEONE HAS PLAYED A SHOT?? It's really annoying. Ah well. Small gripe. Overall, it's being played in a great spirit. May the best team win.

JroCk,
i'll second Amadraeus' comments regarding intensity. in fact, i would suggest that any form of intensity not even be a consideration. her adrenal health is likely severely jeopardized and any additional stress on her system can be overwhelming. you want to promote energy-building rather than energy-draining forms of exercise. i would keep the volume very low, the tempo very slow, the movements fairly simple and try to promote the synchronization of proper diaphragmatic breathing and movement - she should be able to complete the workout with a stomach full of food no problem.

may i also suggest seeking the advice of a CHEK practitioner in your area. they have more experience in this field than any other fitness/health professionals i know of. you can find practitioners in your area at www.chekinstitute.com. look for a level 3 or 4 CHEK practitioner as they will be the most knowledgeable/experienced.

best of luck.

The deal is that Jeremy is one heck of strong athlete who could simply thrust the 155lbs instead of "wasting time" to jerk it. The Games' rules were not specific except that a full squat be performed and with full extension overhead. For those elite level guys like Thiel and Khalipa who could manage the weight without stopping to jerk....well that's why they are elite. BTW, you must be new, or not around the site for the Games, b/c this was dicussed extensively in July.

Do THE DIRTY THIRTY FIVE until your ready to up grade the the full FILTHY FIFTY.
just a suggestion not trying to patronize, go to Brand X site and get the scaled WOD otherwise you'll burn out and give up as I've done in the past. Only a hand full can jump right in as Rx'd.

To do the entire FILTHY in 48 the first time isn't that bad. Remember, You may compare your times with others but remember your ultimately competing with yourself.

By the way...

I first met Jeremy Thiel at my first CrossFit Cert back in November of 2005 in Colorado. It was an old-school cert with Coach, Burgner, John Hackleman, Mike Rutherford on dumbells, and Roger Harrell who I was assisting with the gymnastics. Jeremy is one of the nicest guys you'll meet, but once we started the Rutherford WOD, he transformed into a beast and proceeded to crush it with tell-tale intensity (and screaming as well). Almost two years latter, at the 1st annual CrossFit Games, I saw him again. He had progressed from great athlete to elite CrossFitter. He was on the highest ranks in both the run and the Toatal. The only reason he didn't do better on the Hopper was because his hands hand turned into raw hamburgers on the pull-ups. It looked like he had about 13 rips. A year latter and he had gotten even stronger, now a top contender at The Games. I know that Jeremy owns one of the top affiliates in the country, in Texas where dreams grow big and strong, and when you live in an affiliate, you pretty much spend your whole day working out, coaching, and, well, working out some more. Even though I don't follow the guy around with a video camera all day long, so I couldn't tell you for sure, I would wager that the reason he's such a titan has to do with hard work, focus, dedication, years of consistency and building on a good foundation and nothing to do with the use of illegal substances. A lot of people find it hard to imagine how others can accomplish what they do, and they just don't realize that some people take work ethic to a completely different level.
That said, I do hope the Games crew has lots of ring towers next year so we can have a Snatch/Hang to Support final at the Games so that the little guys don't get get pushed out of contention with a heavy Oly WOD.

You haters need to stop worrying about supplements and steroids and actually start bringing some intensity to your WOD.

Heres a tip...turn your ipod off, quit worrying about if your workout shorts and shirt are matching or not, put down your padded water bottle, and start 'GETTIN SOME!'

I dont know Jeremy at all... but what I saw was passion, power, and a ridiculously awesome performance by someone who isnt scared to cross the threshold. Thats what CrossFit is! Right there!

Now, stop cakin' through your workouts and MAN-UP!
If you think your bad and you wanna train...get at me. Im there!

50 jumping pull-ups (on a doorway pull-up bar. again, very dangerous)
50 KB swings (sub 20lb KB)
50 walking lunges (in place 25 right then 25 left)
50 KTE (sub abmat sit-ups because i don't trust that pull-up bar)
50 push press (2 20lb DBs)
50 Back extensions (20lb DB DLs)
50 Wall Ball (KB wall ball sub with 20lb KB)
50 burpees (took about 7 minutes :/)
50 Double Unders (only counted the ones I made. Lots of misses)

I met Jeremy Thiel at CF Central in Austin. He's a man-beast and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Keep it up Jeremy.
I think that if I could train my brain to be that intense, my body could go so much farther.

Comment #382 - Posted by: ProPain at September 20, 2008 5:32 PM

Back after some time off...did this similar to how I did it last time based on what I had in the gym and trying not to annoy everyone:

50 Knees to elbows
50 45# Thrusters
50 45# Push Press
50 Pull Ups (Kipping)
50 Box Jumps
50 Back Ext.
50 35# DB Swings
50 Ragdoll Burpees
50 Walking Lunges
50 Jump Rope Attempt Situations

I did the kipping pullups over the jumping as I cound finally do the kips and I just wanted to do them. The back extensions were on the 45-deg board. The burpees--once again--made me look like a ragdoll. And I have no idea what I was doing with the jump rope, but it wasn't pretty.

First time ever doing this, did it as prescribed only did 20 kipping and 30 jumping pullups. Wanted to do them all kipping but didn't want to waist my grip on the PU knowing full well the knees to elbows were coming up. Did those 10 at a shot! Felt strong and easy this time, my grip was hurting or I could have done more in one shot.
Push presses and burpeees slowed me way down! My max push press is #65 so 50 at #45 was painful but I did it! Had to push jerk the last few ran out of steam!

Nice work reppin' CF and knocking out a Murph while underway. You are setting a great example for your shop and others on the boat (you are obviously well aware that CF far exceeds the endless flutter kicks and push up's that are so pervasive at the lame hanger bay PT sessions!).

It's motivated Sailors like you who will eventually influence the upper COC to take a look at the benefits of incorporating the CF method into the Navy's PT program. Keep it up!

As far as Jeremy being pumped up and enthusiastic after his workout...so what?

Having been a judge for two full days at "The Games", I witnessed all sorts of pre/post workout "theater" (for lack of a better term).

People were expressing themselves in lot's of ways; yelling, grunting, pacing, heavy loud breathing, staring at the sky, zoning out with the iPod on, not speaking to or acknowledging anyone around them....you name it. I even tried to congratulate a guy after he was finished and his girl told me "he needs to cool down and be alone for a while, don't talk to him". Cool. No big deal.

How anyone can possibly relate Jeremy's enthusiasm to 'roid use is beyond me. Let's be realistic and keep things in perspective. Solid work Jeremy.

Juice or don't juice whatever gets your rocks off. I just don't understand why more steroids users don't stand behind their decision, "Yeah I juiced and I kicked your ass."

If you made the personal decision that steroids are ok for you, or which ever of the 1000 reasons people give to do it, why hide it?

Yeah #410 has a fake name (weak) but he's letting you know. Why the big charade? If you’re ok with it in your personal life, then why hide it publicly?

If I used steroids I would show up at the games with a t-shirt that reads, "YES, I'm on steroids and I'm totally awesome."

For you to make definitive claims about another Crossfitter using performance enhancing agents on a public site without disclosing any supporting data, your name, or anything for us to validate those claims is just nonsense. I wasn't calling anybody but you a coward for those reasons, not for using steroids, thats your choice and if it helps you survive, more power to you, but if you're using it to win a CrossFit competition you are also a cheater. CrossFit as a community is better than this!

my favorite ''real'' WOD, I think. (I do like Grace and Isabel, and of course Helen and Fran... but I digress)

the 'Filthy Fifty'
24:50 as rx'ed, no weight vest (protecting ankle)

I wore my new-ish 'Five Fingers' to break them in some more, and found the box jumps (paradoxically) much less tiring, as well as easier on my ankles, than with running shoes.

I broke the burpees and double-unders into sets of 10, so I could vurp a few times in between...

Comment #460 - Posted by: Marky G at September 21, 2008 1:46 AM

Dissapointed.

Had to re-order back extensions in order to not have to run in & out of the gym to the track to complete the WOD. Started on the track & was doing alright, but my lumbar just gave out during wall-ball following the back extensions and I tapped out at 26 min. The back is always touchy after deadlifts (pr'd the night before).

Let my back recup, did some L-pullups & weighted pullups, & then tried hanging from the power rack w/ a co-workers inversion boots. Felt kinda cool but the jury's still out on the helpfulness of it.

An interesting question. If someone is spending a lot of $$ on your basic bodybuilding supplements (protien, creatine, aminos, test boosters, extracts) they are doing it to "get ahead". Then why shouldn't they just get HGH? The goal is the same. The only difference is they know the HGH will work. (btw, I don't know if HGH is considered a steroid or not, but AFAIK it is illegal for most regulating bodies).

My point here is the "cheating" argument gets a little grey when someone is supplementing out the ying-yang because, after all, they're trying to get ahead too are they not? They're both trying to add muscle, reduce fat, or increase their intensity, recovery, or whatever. Where do you draw the line?

You ask a very good question which unfortunately has been a struggle for all professional athletics for some time. I think the main reason is that some of the "performance enhancers" have serious deleterios effects and HGH for anything but GH defeciency, JRA, or a few other medical conditions is a bad idea from a clinical standpoint. The endocrine system is very complex with many positive and negative feedback loops some of which medicine doesn't really understand well yet, so why take a chance just to "get ahead" in the short term ony to pay serious consequences later?
But in a way this is a very arbitrary debate b/c protein, creatine, amino acids are all naturally occuring products in our diets, just not at the level athletes take them. At least those agents have some studies to validate a benefit, albeit, to a lesser degree from a performance perspective than anabolic steroids or HGH, and the side effects if certain warnings are heeded are minimal compared to the others. As CrossFit enters the mainstream of the athletic arena, obtains contracts with ESPN for its competitions, maybe becomes an Olympic competition one day or at least the level of the X-games, these questions will logically be addressed. Until then, I only hope CrossFit men and women will maintain a level of sportsmanship and health that I believe the Glassman's have so effectively espoused. I hope that adresses your question without being too verbose, but it is a complicated issue.

I am not accusing anyone of steroid use. However, I will say that to think that because a person does Crossfit, they don't use steroids is naive. Competitive people always look for an edge. It may be to train harder or longer. It may be to eat better. It could be a myriad of different things. And yes, it could be steroid use.
That being said....

The warning signs of steroid use include:
Increased irritability and aggression and other behavioral changes, such as euphoria, increased energy, sexual arousal, mood swings, distractibility, forgetfulness, confusion and depression

In males, shrinking of the testicles, difficulty or pain in urinating, baldness and breast enlargement

In females, development of masculine characteristics, such as decreased body fat and breast size, deepening of the voice, excessive growth of body hair and loss of scalp hair

Severe acne and stunting of bone growth
Jaundice (yellowing of the whites of the eyes), fluid retention, high blood pressure, increases in LDL (bad cholesterol) and decreases in HDL (good cholesterol)

Me: 42yo/M/5'10"/171lbs/10.5%bf

Warm Up: Absolutely nothing, I just walked up, set up and 3,2,1, go...

WOD: filthy fifty 34:54

24" Box Jumps: subbed 28" box

Jumping Pull Ups: used a box that allowed me to just get a bend in my elbow at full extension and went from there to chest to bar.

1 pood kettlebell swings: subbed 40lb dumbbell.

Walking lunge: knee to floor to jump in-between each rep

Knees to Elbows: I was a sissy on these: I let my toes touch at the bottom which makes it much easier.

45lb Push Press: I concentrated on getting my arms locked out shoulders against my ears and head through on every rep.

Back Extensions: Did hip extensions (you probably did too). I need to do more of these because I had to break these up on Michael a few days ago and I had to break it up today as well into 30, 10, 10. It really kills my hamstrings.

20lb Wall Ball shots: Subbed 25lb ball on the first 8 shots, that was stupid. I then switched out to the next heaviest ball, a 15lb one and did the rest.

Burpees: yeah burpees: these take me so long to get through. I was at 23 minutes at the start of the burpees and it took me 10 minutes to get through these and the double unders.

Double Unders: got 15 in a row on one of the sets, cool. Although I am jumping about two feet on each jump because I am uncoordinated like that.

Cool Down: focusing on breathing and not puking.

Have Fun, Train Hard,

Billy

Subbed thrusters for wall ball.

Last time: Collapsed into fetal "recovery" position after thrusters. But that was after walking a round of golf in some intense heat and humidity.

Best chance to improve: Did DU's one at a time with many failures. Lost the ability to do multiples. Thrusters killed me again, almost met pukie.

I find the first burpee is incredibly tough.

50 box-jumps, 20"
50 jumping pull-ups
50 swings, 16kg
50 walking lunges
50 knees to elbows
50 push-press, 45lb
50 good mornings, 45lb
50 db thrusters, 2x20lb
50 burpees, Games Std
50 lateral parallette jumps (l/r =1)

Back end was a bit of a grind but got the job done - like the lateral jumps - more agility than tuck jumps but a real calf killer

Cheers, kempie

I dont care if I ever do this one again..Damn.. Most of the time when my can gets handed to me I'm happy about it. But my mind was not right going into it and I was completely expended when I was done. No excitement about this accomplishment.. Maybe once I recover in a day or so.. :)

No medicine ball, so I subbed 45-lb thrusters. Thrusters are way harder than wall-ball shots, btw.
Pull-ups and KTE on rings, used 35-lb db for the swings.

Due to a variety of reasons, I decided to try this workout after an all-day fast. Got up at 0900, started workout around 1630. Man, it sucked. Off to eat a 5-block.

I'm with Allison...who cares what people weigh. The biggest draw for me about CrossFit was the emphasized performance, power, increasing time, strength and took away from the obsession of weight and body fat. As a woman with boobs, muscles, and large bones...I don't need anyone convincing me that I need to lose weight so I fit some imagine of what a hot woman should weigh. If I listen to those people, I would need to starve myself, quit building muscle, probably start taking stuff to speed up my metabolism, basically quit the CrossFit world. I've got three kids, and I can do 3 kipping pull ups. By the end of the month I hope to be at least 6 or should I focus on losing 3 pounds...whatever! I feel awesome from the inside out...speak your mind people without judging!

happy with this time but wish i could've completed knees to elbows. Had to do them on beam that supports my house and it was tearing my hands up bad. Also i think i started too high for my jumping pull ups and didnt get the full effect.

CFWU - 3. Regular reps. Superman. No Burgener.

Left some on the table on Burpees. Walking lunges better this time. No stagger step in between most lunge steps.
Of course, no DU, just 100 singles.

Meyer- 36:20 close to PR but believe it was due to easier jumping pull ups- used 7 mats on box jumps
2 mats + 2 plates for jumping pull ups- also mixed up the order this time

Edler 35:29

G- 41:30 w/ 4 x 100's for burpees
