Looks like fun =)

I'll get on them now!

Comment #1 - Posted by: Gedo at June 29, 2007 7:32 PM

Saturday's WOD got inserted before Friday's.

Comment #2 - Posted by: Alfie at June 29, 2007 7:32 PM

Just got fixed.

Comment #3 - Posted by: Alfie at June 29, 2007 7:45 PM

Why is the video not the same workout that is posted?

Comment #4 - Posted by: Anders at June 29, 2007 7:56 PM

Rats, that's the workout I was gonna do at the hall because I couldn't do Murph there!

Comment #5 - Posted by: gaucoin at June 29, 2007 8:04 PM

Sorry if this is obvious guys but are these max weight for each rep?

Comment #6 - Posted by: Daniel at June 29, 2007 8:07 PM

I know this is really sudden, but, I love you, hang power cleans! It's ok if you want to just soak that in for a few minutes and get back to me.

Comment #7 - Posted by: wich at June 29, 2007 8:26 PM

Nice work Ronnie! Great video, keep it up!

Comment #8 - Posted by: Jeff in OC at June 29, 2007 8:35 PM

The demo video is not matched to the WOD.

Comment #9 - Posted by: Neil at June 29, 2007 9:02 PM

I've got a question. Is it bad if my stance gets wider after I bring the bar up?

Comment #10 - Posted by: Gedo at June 29, 2007 9:06 PM

106-116-131-141-141-141-141

2nd day of crossfit! I'm not too sure about my form. Compared to the video on the site the height I jumped is not nearly as high and my stance got wider compared to what I started of with. Any tips with that?

Comment #11 - Posted by: Gedo at June 29, 2007 9:14 PM

So in the demo did they count the last rep?

The suspense!

Comment #12 - Posted by: Luke at June 29, 2007 9:26 PM

Oh man you guys, you make me want to face-palm. (Try it, put the palm of your hand to your face, you'll get it eventually).

Nothing says the WOD video has to be today's WOD. =D

Please, more comments, I want to see how many fresh fish are out there. I'll grab my pole.

Comment #13 - Posted by: Angry G at June 29, 2007 10:05 PM

heh, i was gonna do an ME Power Clean day anyway

Comment #14 - Posted by: Kevin M at June 29, 2007 10:27 PM

The WOD video doesn't match, there are occasional swear words (that spur 2 week long, asanine, opportunities for people to get on their cyber soap boxes), political discussions on issues that effect the world on rest days, and part human/part cyborgs setting standards too high during posts.....I think I am going to ask for my monthly dues back.

Comment #17 - Posted by: epsa at June 30, 2007 12:21 AM

I wanted to say thanks to the entire CF community for remembering my friend Shane Vincent who was recently critically injured in Iraq. Shane was a World Class BMX'er and is a super stud professional soldier who layed it all on the line. Shane was just getting into the CF scene when the incident occurred. Keep him in your prayers, as so many of you already have. He remains at Walter Reed and is making phenomenal progress. I am currently in the remote outpost where is unit operates. In honor of Shane, we completed the 1 mile runs of the WOD yesterday with IBA interceptor body armor on. A smoker. Honoring "Vinny" was worth it and the CF community grows in Northern Iraq.

#21 Sapphire,

At the risk of being obvious, go to the "Start Here!" page. Beyond that, start with the WOD in one form or another. At least watch the hang power clean video on the "Exercises" page and try it with a broomstick or what seems like light weight to you. If you end up just learning the motion for the WOD, scroll back through the WOD archives until you find one that has familiar movements to you and try it. To scale it to your ability check out http://forum.brandxmartialarts.com/viewforum.php?f=16. Report back here later and let us know how it went. Tune in tomorrow and repeat.

Can someone please point me to a narrative which explains the difference between hang power clean and the hang clean. or provide an nice explanation.

Should I be able to do more weight on my power clean than a regular clean. It seemed that as I added weight the move became a hang clean. Is that normal?

Thanks

#10 It's good. Your feet naturally take a slightly wider stance when landing from a jump. Watch the video above and you'll notice her working her feet in after each jump... I mean , clean.

Day 18 for me

I'm surprised my chest and lats are a bit sore, but I feel good (& strong) despite having struggled through Murph yesterday.

CFWU (coming along, I will own it!)

2nd time with cleans. Took a lot of time to practice the explosion and getting under the bar with a light bar in between sets.

95 - 115 - 125 - 135 - 145 - 155 - 135

Felt limited by wrist pain and the inability to drop the bar where I train. But, hang cleans feel much improved. Thanks for the videos, coach.

#17 epsa --

I think shoes are largely a matter of personal preference, but i've just started running in vibram five fingers, which are touted as being like barefoot with some protection for the sole of the foot. So far, they're working out well for me -- I do feel more connected to the ground and I do feel different muscles in my lower legs getting strengthened.

Hang power cleans are still a technique exercise for me, but I'm looking forward to this.

First time *ever* doing this lift, so I started at 45# to make sure I had the form on, then kept adding weight from there. Here are my final 7 sets:

95 - 100 - 105 - 110 - 115 - 120 - 125

Needless to say, 125 is a PB. =D

On another note, it's great belonging to a community that not only supports one another in working out, but also supports our troops like this. I hope and pray that all of our soldiers, wherever they're serving, return home safely and with the honor they deserve.

Comment #67 - Posted by: Svor at June 30, 2007 12:08 PM

Murph kicked my butt ysterday and my Kung Fu teacher kicked it this morning...well he elbowed me in the jaw anyhow.

Really was no point in trying to max out today. I just did 5 sets of:

10 reps 95lb hang power clean
5 pull-ups
10 dips

It was enough after yesterday and this morning. The shoulders wouldn't have cooperated at max loads this aftenoon.

Are you supposed to start at the knees from a "dead hang" or sort of go down and then up like in the demo video? I did a "dead hang" and it felt like it was sucking power out of me.

Had a problem with this one. Power Cleans are new to me as an exercise and I struggled with this one technically. I started off doing several reps with the bar only, added 20kgs, added another 10kgs and then tried another 10kgs on that but I failed at that weight. I felt a little subdued doing these in my surroundings (commerical gym) which didn't help me go all out or bust. Anyway, I backed the weight off and worked on the technique instead.

Mom's are great and when you are not even thinking about it they are there for you. I got a card from mine today. There is no real reason for her send one except the fact that she cares. So with that said I wont to share the Bible verse that was in closed, because I fell it is good inspiration to carry with you when Crossfiting.
" 'So do not fear, for I am with you; do not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with MY righteous right hand.' " ISAIAH 41:10 NIV
A lot things I have done and lack of doing has brought Crossfit into my life. I feel it is a God sent gift, and just wont to thank everyone again for it. My heart, mind and body is stronger and continues to get stronger. I have learn you can do any thing you wont through this program. Thanks once again, Brandy

Still cooked from last nights half Murph. Did the CFWU and my stomach felt as topsy-turvy as it did in the last run last night. Grabbed some more food and waited around and managed to get through the WOD, feeling only slightly weak.

My form stinks, so I went at this with a 15# bar for a while. It still stinks. My legs hardly bend on the catch. On the heavier lifts and last lift I was leaning back to manage the catch. Ugly. Something to add to my warmdown.

20 Mins for max rounds of:
10 Walking Lunges w/ 25# Dumbbells in each hand
10 Pull-ups w/ 25# dumbbell.

As rx'd: 9 Rounds exactly.

The chins were definitely the slowing factor, but I guess it's ok to go slow having done 90 weighted pull-ups.
