Crossfit is about to be deleted from wikipedia, so someone needs to change it a bit, and I don't know how. It needs to be done by tomorrow, or it will be deleted

Did Cindy today: 13 rounds, plus 5 PU and 7 push ups. That's an improvement from the last, at 12+ rounds. Seem to have done some damage to my knee though on the squats, and will take a break from exercises involving squatting in upcoming WODs.

Mary kicked my butt last time. Tomorrow she's mine!

Comment #5 - Posted by: Steve G (age 44) at September 26, 2006 7:48 PM

Too funny to see this come up. I was suggesting the alternatives to Linda yesterday, for N & L because of sharing the bar and time constraints and Cindy was one of the suggestions that I gave. L said knowing his luck she would be tomorrow's WOD, and said nope. He'll have to do it anyway!

check out the wikipedia article. they have a banner at the top stating,

"It is proposed that this article be deleted, because of the following concern:

advertising, vanity"

and also,

"The article may be deleted if this message remains in place for five days (This template was added: 27 September 2006)."

did Cindy
12 rounds this time with 3 seconds to spare.
Same thing as last time, except last time Cindy was after a rest day and this time did Linda yesterday. So initially it doesn't look like an improvement but with the gains in Linda, having the ability to keep Cindy the same is an improvement.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Travis L @ Prosperity at September 26, 2006 9:39 PM

from wiki:
".... Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style...."

Anyone that can explain Crossfit can not be objective and unbiased!! Either you do it and love it or don't do it and fear it.

"...so articles about very small "garage" or local companies are not likely to be acceptable.... "

CrossFit seems to be the quintessential "garage" company.

CrossFit is better off without Wiki. I mean really, we can come up with our own controvery, right? And, anyone that wants to know about CrossFit doesn't need to go anywhere other than Crossfit.com

CrossFit doesn't need advertisement of any sort because its principles and following spread by word of mouth faster than any geek could type the word Crossfit. Leave the politics where it belongs.

First time for Mary. A new favourite.

Mary's HOT and I really like her! Substituted asstd ring pull-ups for the real thing, and used rings for balance in the one-legged squats. I took "10 One legged squats, alternating" to mean 5 each leg.

CFWU ( 3 x 12)
HSPU x 5
O-LS x 10
Rng-PU x 15

10 x rounds in 20:00 exactly, sprinted thru the last rnd.

Comment #29 - Posted by: Breck at September 27, 2006 5:04 AM

Does everyone pretty much accept Mary as being a balanced workout with regards to the different parts of the body? I'm coming from the position where one-legged squats are quite a bit easier for me than pullups, and I have to wonder - Am I just a really unbalanced guy, or are these workout numbers somewhat arbitrary?

This seems to come up a lot for me when I'm doing the WoDs, and it seems like a valid point to consider. With Linda for example, I can easily clean much more than I can bench press. So are these workouts supposed to represent an abstract idealized proportion for fitness ability that is 'right' in some way and I'm just out of whack? Or is any distribution of ability pretty much valid and the workouts are just arbitrary?

Maybe this would be more appropriate for the forums.

Did Cindy today. Got 6 rounds, which is about the same as last time except this time I was able to do it without blowing out. Much better on the PUs. I still did jumping pull ups but the bar was really high which made me pull a lot on my own. I think the weakness is at the bottom of the pull, that is getting it started. I can feel once I get to a certain point, the muscles "catch" and I feel much stronger. Weird. Thoughts?

Also fact that I was doing Cindy in the morning instead of after work made the pukie more likely, which slowed me down.

Mary: 9 rounds plus 5 hspu's and 2 one legged squats, up from 9 plus 2 hspu's last time. Inching to 10 rounds(someday) but I must say after the 5th round, pullups were broken at 7 then at 5 which really slowed me up. Tough one after Linda yesterday. Thanks, Coach!

Skipped out on this girl way too often - just like I have skipped out on much of my bodyweight stuff

"Cindy" - As many rounds in 20 mins of:
5 pull-ups
10 push-ups
15 squats

Got 18 rounds and 5 pull-ups with 5 secs to spare. I actually think this is a PR but I really have no excuse not to be topping 20. Next time for sure!!

Pull-ups went pretty well until last few rounds. Have experimented with a mini kip on the gravitron and it seemed to work ok. Push-ups slowed right up around round 10 - these are my weakness at the moment. Sprinted through squats.

Gonna try and get a couple of 500m rows after my next class.

Cheers, kempie

Comment #50 - Posted by: kempie at September 27, 2006 7:36 AM

Cindy:

10 rounds plus 5 pullups and 5 pushups.

Pullups were alternating rounds of pullups and chins.

Last 2 pushup rounds required a couple of breaths at top of push, otherwise everything unbroken. Not much warmup time to allow me to get to work on time, so have to admit first couple of squat rounds were not not all the way down. It was tough to get going first thing in a.m. after Linda worked me yesterday!

Results were a little better for time than first time I did this and pullups were much better. Not too long ago doing 3 pullups would have exhausted me. Thanks CF!

When we did Cindy last time she left me unable to move for 3 days. Taught me about WU and WD. It was my first crossfit excersize. Did 14 rounds then
Today we did Cindy again. I did my pull-ups assisted. Frank the grandpa manimal and Jad did them unassisted.
I (Frosty) did 21 rounds
Frankie did 17 rounds
Jad did 19 rounds

Well yesterday wasn't my first WOD, but today it feels like it. It was my first post.

Cindy...15 rounds.

Considering I can hardly move today because of Linda, I could only do the girly push ups after the first round and pull ups with the assistance of rubber bands. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

I have no idea how I managed to do this after doing Linda yesterday. But this is by far the fastest I have ever been able to complete Mary, and the HSPUs felt better than they ever have before. Very, very strange.

What are the odds that tomorrow is the CF500 or Fight Gone Bad? I guess FGB is the 30th, so the Crossfit 500 (aka Filthy Fifty) is my bet :-)

Nonetheless pleasantly surprised. Oh, and I left the best sweat angel I have ever generated in my life on the rubber mats after collapsing off the rings at 20:00.

Working with my hands tomorrow and any upper body work shows up under the microscope. Will save Cindy, or do my first Mary, with Randy at Crossfit Denver Friday afternoon.

Quarter-mile intervals/ 1:2 run:rest
1:36
1:46
1:42
1:42
1:35
Total time 30:00, total dist. 2.65 miles

Doing these for two reasons. 1) Need to get much better 800M times on WOD's 2) Will be "training" HS lacrosse team pre-season, and interval training as preparation for CF is part of the plan.

"Mary was the giiirl that taught me all I had to know, she put me right on the first mistake." Don't think I like Mary now, she's a bit of a beeotch. First time with her, though.

7 full rounds + 3 pistols aka 'one-legged squats'(pistols lowered down to a bench appoximately 8" high). Only last set of HSPU broken.

made 15 rounds (squats to dynamax ball, all pu's kipped)
last time did 20 rounds but didn't go to dynamax so i probably cheated the r.o.m. Linda definitely wiped me out my back is really stiff and so are my glutes/hams

before i started i said to myself "man if can make it through those first five cause they really suck and i just need to get a rhythm," but then i thought if i get a rhythm i can push through 5-12 cause well they suck too but i will be alright and in good position to finish. Then i said ,"but of course that leaves 13 til i am done and yeah they suck too."

Max: 5K row 22:19 (too smoked from cert to do Cindy)

Everyone else worked on heavy triples, doubles and singles of various excercises.

Shira got a 22 lb weighted pull-up and a 105 lb o/h squat.

Sharon got a 95 lb o/h squat

Cindy
Realy was a sticker for technique today. Pull-ups, from straight arms to bar against chest. Push-ups on low paralettes, going from arms and shoulders totaly extended via body as a plank to chest and face against the floor. Squat from boy and legs totaly extended to my but against a smaal gas-bottle I am using for measurement. My hips jut below paralel with my knees.
Score: 15 rounds + 5 pull-ups and 7 push-ups.
Again, I was soaked. Nice training!
Have fun, Johan

pullups- first few full, remainder jumping

Much better form this time. I'm learning!
Last Cindy- 11 rounds+ 3 pullups, almost half of pushups on knees
Better form this time, working the negative on pullups, broken sets to get full pushups

Here is a quote that I really like and wanted to share-

I am not what I ought to be;
I am not what I hope to be;
I am not what I want to be;
But by the Grace of God, I am not what I used to be.

A better substitute for the last line has been running through my head all day-

"But by the grace of CrossFit, I am not what I used to be!"

I read the Wiki entry last night and think that it is more damaging than good to leave it. Let CrossFit stand on it's own and let the "believers" come! :P

By the way, even as a Crossfit convert, I think that the entry on Wikipedia stinks, as it stands.
There used to be a fairly standard explanation of what Crossfit was all about on the wiki but it has been altered a lot over the past few months and not for the better.
It is supposed to be an encyclopedia after all and currently reads a brochure.

I have saved the wiki html. I say we let the current version die, then we can work on it here or on the message board before rolling it back out if we want.

CrossFit may not be ready for prime time. We are slaughtering a lot of sacred cows, and people might not be ready to hear that the "workouts" they have been doing and teaching for years are um, less than ideal.

As for us we know CrossFit is The Way The Truth and The Light... *drinks kool-Aide*

Felt a little drained today. Wish I could do the WOD's in the AM like last year...new job requires me to be there at 6:50AM, so I can't workout until the afternoon. It's affecting me.

Day 3 of 1 hour workouts--do the WOD then work on problem areas. Today did jerk practice w/ PVC pipe. Shoulders are incredibly inflexible.
