what is a jump pullup. do you jump to the bar and pullup then lower and drop off?

Comment #2 - Posted by: Schactler at April 26, 2006 6:39 PM

That's it exactly. It's a pullup with a jump as assistance...killer cardiovascular exercise at high-reps.

Workout looks fun! Can't wait until tomorrow :D

what is a back extension?

Comment #5 - Posted by: Steve at April 26, 2006 6:43 PM

first surf for 3 months today.Straight into 10ft and paddling thru miles of white water was a challenge, but I was able to do that then surf for 3 hours not a problem.Stamina and endurance to burn thanks to CrossFit.Now lets see how the 50 rep WOD goes.

Comment #6 - Posted by: pete at April 26, 2006 6:50 PM

ummmmmmmmm...
yeah right. You might say I'm gonna scale this one.

Comment #7 - Posted by: david c. at April 26, 2006 6:54 PM

Dumbell swings is the sub. I think 1 pood is 35 pounds.

Back extension can be found in the exercises link on the left of the main page.

I've been wanting another shot at this one.

Comment #11 - Posted by: dan Colson at April 26, 2006 7:11 PM

FILTHY FIFTY!!

Gotta love it. Try the walking lunges with an oly bar overhead with a snatch grip. You won't be able to sit down properly for several days 'cause your glutes will feel like a worn-out punching bag.

Comment #12 - Posted by: Jimbo at April 26, 2006 7:26 PM

The fearsome 500. I remember this one. Putting those burpees near the end is sadistic.

Comment #13 - Posted by: Mitch at April 26, 2006 7:37 PM

Nice! Was hoping for a tough one for my 47th bday, and the freakin' fifty is perfect. Anyone have an opinion of the jumping pull-ups as to whether you lower under control, as in negative, or just drop from the top of the motion? I've done the negatives before but figure I could save a couple of minutes by dropping.

Comment #14 - Posted by: ScottH at April 26, 2006 7:40 PM

For some reason my computer won't download the videos for burpees and double unders. Can someone please explain these exercises?
Are there any subs for wall ball shots? Thanks!

Comment #15 - Posted by: Huff at April 26, 2006 7:43 PM

Burpees:

http://www.warriorforce.com/articles/burpeeclip.htm

Double Unders- Jump rope makes two rotations for each jump.

Scott H, I have a tendency to do them like assisted kipping pullups. I would say whatever way you can perform them fastest without hurting yourself would be the right way.

Comment #16 - Posted by: Jesse Woody at April 26, 2006 7:50 PM

I'M FEELING FILTHY!

Comment #17 - Posted by: John Seiler at April 26, 2006 7:50 PM

Oh yeah, and the sub for wall-ball shots is thrusters with 15 or 20lb dumbells.

Comment #18 - Posted by: Jesse Woody at April 26, 2006 7:50 PM

Jesse Woody- Good job covering all the bases bro. Are you going to SC in May?

Comment #19 - Posted by: DJ at April 26, 2006 8:29 PM

What is knees to elbows?

thanks for you patience!

Comment #20 - Posted by: Dave at April 26, 2006 8:40 PM

Dave,
Hang on the bar. Bring your knees up to your elbows.

For any other Q's check the FAQ.

Comment #21 - Posted by: DJ at April 26, 2006 8:54 PM

I almost puked just reading it.

Comment #22 - Posted by: Chris B. at April 26, 2006 9:08 PM

On the sub for the kettleball swings, someone said use a dumbell. So should you use a 35 (1 pood) pound dumbell and grab it vertically with both hands, or do like two 20 lb dumbells and do them both at one time? Thanks.

Comment #23 - Posted by: The Titan at April 26, 2006 9:18 PM

Crossfit virgin here-- Been on the program for about 2 weeks and am already seeing the effects. These 50's look GNARLY! Right on!

Comment #24 - Posted by: outofcontrol at April 26, 2006 9:30 PM

Those who have never done the filthy fifty before - be careful. This is not for the faint of heart and I don't know how it looks to you (some might say not too bad), but that's a recipe for getting smoked. 40 mins is not an unreasonable time, IMO.

Comment #25 - Posted by: Sean G at April 26, 2006 9:39 PM

Gonna have to get up early just to research all these new exercises... for now, sleep.

Comment #26 - Posted by: Ian L at April 26, 2006 9:42 PM

Comment #27 - Posted by: Erik B. at April 26, 2006 10:04 PM

Okay, I'm done doing the research I needed to do and figuring out the subs I'm going to throw in, and this is going to

The person who said 40 minutes in not out of the question, I completely agree.

The worst part is going to be the burpees at the end, if i'm not dead by then, I'll be surprised. I'm bringing my bible with me to that workout.

Comment #28 - Posted by: The Titan at April 26, 2006 10:09 PM

What is a double under -- no bandwidth for the video and didn't see description for it in FAQ - thanks.

Comment #29 - Posted by: Rhino at April 26, 2006 10:14 PM

Oops. I think I brought this on. yesterday I saw a reference somewhere and thought to myself "what's the filthy fifty?" Apologies to everyone.

Comment #30 - Posted by: Bradford at April 26, 2006 10:21 PM

How long has this been called the filty fifty? The last time we did this I suggested that to be a name for this one!

I have this horrible knack for "inventing" things that have already been invented. Surly this is the case yet again. Shared misery might result in shared inspiration.

GET SOME!!!

Back on deck after a long break. Nice day to come back huh...

These burpees are shaping up as a satanic offering.....

Double under = skip jump up, pass rope under feet twice before landing. The rope should be fizzing through the air, unless you are a gnome.

I have a couple excuses why.

Comment #33 - Posted by: Justin D at April 26, 2006 11:31 PM

oh yea,
subbed 200 regular jump ropes for the 50 double unders.

Comment #34 - Posted by: Justin D at April 26, 2006 11:32 PM

I've referred to this WOD as the CrossFit 500. Whatever you call it, it'll kick your ass.

Comment #35 - Posted by: John Elstad at April 26, 2006 11:52 PM

I said 40 mins, as that is my goal for this one. I think 50 mins will be fairly common and nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I think just finishing this is quite good.

Justin - No 'scuses necessary, bro. Moreover, I think 50 double unders is a lot harder than 200 straight skips. It's the difference between jogging a mile and doing 8 x 200m sprints.

Comment #36 - Posted by: Sean G at April 26, 2006 11:54 PM

oh, i know the double unders are harder, im just not at the point yet where i can do 50 of them. I'd probably still be there if that was the case.

Comment #37 - Posted by: Justin D at April 27, 2006 12:00 AM

"It's the difference between jogging a mile and doing 8 x 200m sprints."

And double unders would be jogging a mile? You're jumping up 50 times as opposed to 200. double unders are easy if you know how to jump rope.

Comment #38 - Posted by: Punchy at April 27, 2006 12:04 AM

Comment #42 - Posted by: karl at April 27, 2006 1:17 AM

38:45 slower time than last but managed to get through the whole thing

2 modifications
burpees were done without the push-up or the jump
300 single unders instead of the 50 double

I had to use dumbbell thrusters for wall ball. The stupid gym doesn't have a medicine ball bigger than 15 pounds and when I went to shoot it against the wall it sounded as if the wall was going to cave in. I really think the wall ball is easier than the thrusters.

After discovering CrossFit about a month ago I immediately saw the logic and the benefit of this type of workout. I have spent the last month getting used to the various movements and workouts. I decided to go ahead and do the WOD for real today. After a 5am wakeup I hit the computer to see what the WOD had in store for me. This is a very cruel way to start the first real attempt. Needless to say I knew that I wasn't conditioned enough for it so I did all at 1/2 the reps. It still just about killed me. I look forward to many more because I am still alive to tell about it.

Comment #77 - Posted by: Anthony Utah at April 27, 2006 7:14 AM

Dang, this was a hard one. My husband and I have been doing XF together for about a month, but I had to go it alone because he's sick. It wasn't pretty.

BW 120#
Time = 47:22
50 box jumps
50 jumping pullups
50 kbell swings (using a 25#db as sub)
50 (each leg) walking lunges w. 2x20#dbs
25 knees-elbows + 25 hanging leg raises
50 push-presses w. 45# barbell
[no back extension thing at my gym, so had to skip them]
50 burpees (about 2/3 w. pushups, pretty lame jumps)
50 thrusters (sub for wallball) w. 10#dbs

I don't have a jumprope, so I couldn't do the double-unders. (Probably couldn't have done them even if I *did* have a jumprope!)

Does anybody know what I can sub for back extensions in the future?

Comment #78 - Posted by: Michelle at April 27, 2006 7:16 AM

38:01

No Subs until the Burpees. I was actually getting dizzy. Almost did a header into the wall outside the gym! I knew it was time to transition to some pushups and call it a day!

I tried out my new 20# ball today. Wow! I loved it. We should all strive to have substitutionless WODs.

Thanks Coach!

Well, I've been studying and preparing for weeks now...time to throw down! I found CrossFit and all of you other assorted misfits and I feel as if I'm finally 'home'. Former Marine here, all around hard-charger I think this is the perfect addition to my training for my first 1/2 marathon this year. I have been reading the posts, FAQ, etc., trying to learn what I need to know. I'll keep the stupid questions to a minimum. What I want/need is to find others in the Denver metro area to learn from and train with in real time. Any and all info is welcome! Thanks again everyone; I look forward to a long and healthy relationship with the CrossFit community.

51 y/o, 150 lbs., 3rd wk CF.
Interesting that this WOD came up the day after the discussion of whether CF is safe. Here's my take on it.
I am fighting a nasty cold and sinus infection. I had a choice; skip the WOD to get well, do it and hope for the best, or use my head and scale it to fit my current health condition.
You know what I did, I scaled it down a lot, 20 of everything completed in an easy 29:50. Fitness is a 365 day a year state of being so there are advantages to learning to push through when you are less than 100%. Also, as a new CFer there were several movements I had not done and I was curious about them.
CF is not inherently dangerous when used by those who think.

Comment #112 - Posted by: Charles at April 27, 2006 9:34 AM

I prefer to substitute Jack Bauer for all the regular Chuck Norris quotes. :-)

If you're holding a gun to Jack Bauer's head, don't count to three before you shoot. Count to 10. That way, you get to live 7 seconds longer.

Comment #113 - Posted by: vks3 at April 27, 2006 9:37 AM

Does the 45 lbs for the push press include the bar, or is that the amount of weight that is supposed to be on the bar?

Starting 2nd week of WOD. Today, I was truly humbled!

52:22

50 Box Jump (18" bench)
50 Jumping Pull-ups
50 25# dumbell swings (1st time doing these)
50 Walking lunges
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45# barbell
50 Back extensions (using bench and swiss ball)
50 Thrusters using 15# dumbells
50 Burpess (nearly met Pukie!)
100 Single jump ropes (no gas left to try DUs)

Comment #115 - Posted by: Daws at April 27, 2006 9:52 AM

39:19...tried not to sell out too early. Goal was an avg of 4 minutes per exercise, so I pulled it off.

Subs as follows:
- Bench was a bit short for jumps, probably only 18"
- Used 45lb db for swings (didn't feel like taking 2 dbs to the park)
- No back xtn apparatus, so did "superman" style on the ground - not a great sub, but do with what you have.
- Used same 45lb db for push press
- Forgot to take jump rope so subbed 50 rafter touches...less coordination but a higher jump so probably a wash.

first time in 10months due to knee issues
went subset rounds of 5 10 15 20 BUT I added weight in a regressive fashion in 5 pd increments to the 20 rep done as rx'd.

Only KTE, Jump rope and burpee's done without weight added.

15:35 = 935 seconds

30 Box jump, 20 inch box
30 Jumping pull-ups
30 Dumbbell swings, 35#
Walking Lunge, 30 steps
30 Knees to elbows
30 Push press, 45 pounds
30 Back extensions
30 Thrusters, 20 pound dumbbells each hand
30 Burpees (push-up, jump, clap)
60 Lateral jumps over 6"high X 16# wide Aerobix step (no jump rope available)
Total time: 27:56

Comment #140 - Posted by: Nicholas in SA at April 27, 2006 11:07 AM

took me 45:13. There was a lot of downtime walking in and out of the gym to get on the pullup bars, and I had to get weighed in for my PFA.

Comment #141 - Posted by: J at April 27, 2006 11:09 AM

40:30 0:30 slower than last time. As prescribed with following mod's:

35 lb db for kb on swings
5 kg med ball for 20 lb, but shot to 11' to 12' for increased effort
CrossFit Burpees with PU and jumping, added clap for encouragement?.

Hard to even imagine a sub 20:00 time for this WOD!

I concur with JeffT, that things really sloowed down on burpees (could only do about 5-7 at a time). Also, double unders were slow, basically one single for rhythm, then one double under, then reset and start again.

Comment #142 - Posted by: ScottH at April 27, 2006 11:10 AM

Third time with "Filthy Fifty" or "Chuck Norris"

38:20
box jumps about 27" on concrete ledge in gym
No jumprope - pretended to 100 single unders.
Burpees almost killed me.
Actually used 20lb wall ball for the first time!

By the way, here is a link to Chuck Norris top facts:
http://4q.cc/index.php?pid=top100&person=chuck

Also, I work out at a college gym and today for the first time I saw that someone has made and left at the gym Crossfit style Parallel bars in the O-lifting area (where I am always at!!) - very cool!

Comment #143 - Posted by: JasonS at April 27, 2006 11:11 AM

subed 35# db for kettlebell. Everything else as required.

34:14 - First 500

Time - 29:11
Scaled down to 30 of each exercise (and sub'd thrusters for wall ball shots and 35lbs. dumbell for kettlebell swings). Then did hour Aikido workout. BTW - those of us that scale the WOD down on occasion prove wrong the NJ Cops article assumption that the WOD is too risky. The beauty of the WOD is that it makes you push yourself, but you can abide by your own limits just the same. Your fitness is your responsibility - the author missed that point entirely.

Comment #150 - Posted by: klr at April 27, 2006 11:38 AM

48:15, but was a bowl of jello after the wall ball shots - if I go for time, form suffers; if I concentrate on form, time suffers - but I think the latter is the way to go for beginners.

AARRGggghh!

This was about the best I've EVER felt! The closest I've come to doing a WOD as rx'd.

Deviations:
100 24" box jumps (got carried away--damn)
34# DB swings
10# wall ball (heaviest balls in the gym--need to find a gym with bigger balls)
150 single-unders (compensated--I just don't seem to get the DU thing. Kinda like Steve Martin dancing in The Jerk).

The gym's pretty spread out, so lotsa (welcome) travel time.

40:17.

I couldn't even finish this one last time we did it! Gimme some more of tha Kool-Aid, ladies and gentlemen. Arr! Arr! Arr!

JohnM

"WWCND?"

#134, regarding NOX CG3--you shoulda asked sooner. I could have sent you the nearly full can I just threw away. If the WOD doesn't make you puke, NOX CG3 will. NO2 products are very dubious to begin with; and this stuff is just plain murder on the gut. Lotsa folks here, it seems, use Creatine--say, 5g/day regularly w/ no loading--but that's about it for supplements (other than purely nutritional supps). My two cents.

Im a Navy corpsman stationed with the marines in Camp Pendleton, CA. Being a "Doc" for the marines is a big responsibility that many corpsman dont tend to take seriously. Many are pushovers who only run when its time to do the PFA and sit and watch as their marines do their daily pt. Anyway, since I had gotten to CA, I had been looking for a good program to ensure I would be in better shape than my marines. Since I started adding crossfit to my daily routine about a month and a half ago, I have noticed differences in endurance and stregth and surpassed goals I never thought possible, and my marines notice it as well, so I wanted to say Thanks crossfit, for allowing me to go above and beyond, and to assist in earning the respect of my marines.

Some of these times are nuts, dont know how some of you do it....

That was crazy hard. Knees to elbows almost killed me and then I had the rest of the workout, but there were modifications.

Dumbell thrusters instead of wall ball, 40 lb dumbell swings instead of kettleball, used 20 dumbells with my 50 walking lunges, and did 300 singles at the end for jump rope instead of 50 double unders. I thought I was going to pass out. Good shit, can't wait for tomorrow.

48 minutes.

Are you guys splitting this into sets or 10's or 25 or are you just doing 50 of one thing and then storming to the next exercise?

Subbed Kipping pullups, everything else as rx'd. 24:47.

Don't know if the zone is finally starting to work for me (started 'zoning' about 2 months back) or not, but this week has been great. On a whim the other day I did 100 1.5pood kb snatches (20L/R, 15L/R, 10L/R, 5L/R)in 4:35, beating my old time by a minute in a half. Always heard from people they started 'chasing results' after being on the zone for a while, perhaps I'm there.

43:13 - Kind of tricky with the home gym...

50 Double unders (guess I'm not so good at this)
50 Box jump, 24 inch box (unto third step on porch)
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (used 35lb plate)
50 Knees to elbows (alternated sets of 10 with back ext)
50 Back extensions (performed on the floor)
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Walking Lunge
50 Jumping pull-ups (jumped in the air, then did pu)
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (threw 25lb plate up in the air... don't tell that Princeton guy I did this!)
50 Burpees (arse kicker)

Burpees with a push up and a jump.

35 minutes and change (no second hand on clock at gym) and only did 25 burpees (still hating these things!).

Only sub was db thrusters for wall ball (used 2 20lb dumbells).

Hardest workout I've ever done.

I had this vision throughout the workout of coach sitting in front of his computer as he enters the WOD...laughing maniacly.

Comment #176 - Posted by: Ross at April 27, 2006 1:37 PM

45 minutes - burpees & double-unders because of time constraints. All else with usual subs.

Next time i won't wimp out and do the burpees.

I'm definitely filthy right now.

Comment #177 - Posted by: cd1111 at April 27, 2006 1:42 PM

Coach,

I did almost all of the workout as Rx'd.

Finished all of the exercises up to the burpees in 35 minutes.

Rowed 1000 m to take the place of the burpees and double unders.

did 50 ring push ups.

Total 45 minutes.

Last time 1:15 minutes

Kick *##!!!!

To the board comments for yesterday, here is a quote from the jarheads (Marines), "Pain is weakness leaving the body." That guy was a former Marine Drill instructor, I do not think so. The Marines I ran into in Pensacola would kick this guy's butt for saying this crap!

The saying for the PRT is, "Run until you puke. Then run some more!"

Guys at work think somewhere out there is a bunch of drunk college students posting these workouts and laughing at all of us pushing 'till we puke.

Hard to argue with them when they saw the three of us about to pass out after this one.

Heart rate still above 100 for a loooong time after this one.

We all finished at 39 minutes, 42 minutes, and 43 minutes.

I'm a recent convert. Great workout. Keep the pain coming.

This was my second ever WOD, so I scaled everything by .60 so I could at least get through the exercises. At the end of the routine I still had some left in the tank, so I should have probably done at least 30 of each.

Age 42, bwt 178, time=~17 mins

20 box jump
20 hanging pullups (-70lbs, arms are still very sore from two days ago.)
20 dumbbell with #25

a whole 8 valuable seconds quicker than last time. I don't know how I managed to be quicker because the double unders were a complete mess, rarely more than 4 or 5 at a time and lots of tripping up on the rope.

KT you motivate me,

45:53 with the sloppiest knee to elbows ever, but I got every last one. Had to break them down into 5's at the end. Also, I think the thickness of the pullup bar made a bit of a difference. I changed thickness after the first ten and went back and forth. broke the jumping pull ups down into sets of 20 and a set of 10. I substituted thrusters with 15 lb. dumbbells for wall ball shots. Next time I'm doing the wall ball's.

First workout of the day was the bodyweight EDT workout from APK. 2 10:00 rounds, two exercises each: Warmup x 2.
Workout: Round 1-
HSPU-3,3,3,3,3,3,3,2- total=23
Pistols (+25lb plate)-5,3,3,3,3,3,3,3-total=26
Round 2-
Pullup- 8,5,5,5,5,5,5,3-total=41
Leg Lift- 5,6,3,2,3,3,4,2-total=28

Fun times.

Then I got the bright idea to do this workout this afternoon...probably hit it right around 5:30

Total Time= 29:30. It was interesting to say the least...biggest holdups were burpees (no joke!) and knees to elbows...I couldn't manage more than 2 or 3 at a time towards the end of the 50!

Comment #211 - Posted by: Jesse Woody at April 27, 2006 3:50 PM

50 push presses (used 30# barbell)

Anthony & Joe

44:44

This was 2 minutes slower then my last time with this beast, I realized I didn't do the push presses last time though so that makes up a little for it.

Subbed Thrusters for Wallball with 15lb dumbells

Used a 30lb dumbell for the kettlebell swing

Knees to elbows a bit creative again, but still hurt like heck.

Great wod, thanks again for pushing me to the best I have felt in years...just not right now.

Interupted with a phone call and time didn't stop. Good excuss for rest half way through.

Comment #249 - Posted by: Mick S at April 27, 2006 6:10 PM

Did it!! A couple of weight "scales", but I finally did all 10 50's!

38:43, pretty similar to last effort during which I failed after 8 rounds.

I'll always be older, slower, and weaker, but today I'm LESS slower and weaker than last time. Stuff works, Coach. Thanks again.

MY FIRST EVER WOD!

BW: 195
Time (don't laugh too hard): 42:54

I took out just about anything impact-oriented to let my leg get used to this (broke it three months ago; still in rehab).

As rxd except no box jumps, 20 jumping pullups, didn't do full ROM knees to elbows, 10lb wall ball shots, no burpees, no double unders. And I still met Pukie.

Joey and Anabel, thanks for having me over; sorry if I jumped the gun on posting only my stuff.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

35 flat (PR by 5 minutes). Too much time spent getting my breath back.

George's time not recorded because HE CHEATED. Not really, but subbed 100 skips for 50 double unders and missed the push ups in the burpees. 32.15 or thereabouts.

We still need to buy a dynamax ball.

Got a couple min. breather in the middle as the block captain lady wanted some back up while she confronted some shady dudes in an R.V. camping on the street (although at 3/4 of the way through I'm not sure how much help I would have been, LOL), kept time running.

First time posting. I'm 38 yrs. old and been doing CF for about 8 month. Besides being in the best shape of my life through your daily WOD, I want to share with everyone my first "Muscle Up." All together I did 4 today (all singles). To me, it was a BIG barrier that I didn't think I could overcome. I want to thank CF organization for giving their time and knowledge(free of charge) to help people like me to stay in shape. "With perseverance you can accomplish anything you set you mind to."
Thanks CF!

How exactly do you do a wall ball shot? Does it go straight up in the air or bounced off a platform?...Can't seem to figure it out from the video, slideshow or a rather long search of the message board....oh BTW, Chuck Norris visited the Virgin Islands not too long ago...They're now known as the Islands..

I finally finished this workout. It's been a long nemesis of mine as 1 of 2 workouts that I've never gotten through (Barbara is the other one). Now I get to look forward to PT tomorrow morning with the full-body soreness that is inevitable after doing this WOD.

Comment #293 - Posted by: David Knutzen at April 27, 2006 9:59 PM

25:40 = PR by 3:09 + increased weights on push presses and thrusters

Previous times in parentheses:

Boxes at 20" (unbroken) - 1:21 (1:55)
Jumping PUs - 1:56 (2:31)
KB swings w/ 35# DB (unbroken) - 2:20 (2:45)
Lunges (unbroken) - 1:32 (1:33)
Knees to elbows (Smith machine w/ jump assist) - 3:49 (4:03)
Push presses w/ 2x25# DBs- 2:05 (2:53 w/ 2x20#)
Back extensions - 1:56 (2:22)
Thrusters w/ 2x20# DBs - 3:26 (2:28 w/ 1(!)x20#) - this one hurt a lot
Burpees (slow, but unbroken) - 5:17 (6:18)
200 single unders - 1:58 (2:01)

I'm pleased that I made improvements with every exercise, although I definitely need to work on the K2Es and Burpees.

30:24 minus burpees - out of gas.
Subbed 200 singles for the 50 double unders. 50 more than last time, 20 seconds longer to complete.... pretty much a break even in terms of progress.

Comment #295 - Posted by: Baron at April 27, 2006 10:12 PM

Third time w/ the "filthy fifty" and 19 minutes faster than the first time! Box jumps to standard weight bench, sub 35# d/b for k/b swings, used 12# med. ball for wall balls, and imaginary single-unders (jump rope was missing).

I typically seem to feel pretty good on this WOD until I get to the back extensions. Then, the light-headedness starts to set in. The burpees and KTE continue to be my weak points. Had to actually lie down after every five burpees because I was so spent. I really don't like those!

#117, you would be surprised how many marathoners do crossfit in the morning then jog 1-2hrs at night (or vice versa) regularly.

This marathoner has been doing crossfit for less then two weeks

WOD: 34:23
subs - 35#DB for kettelbell., 45# thrusters for wall ball, 150 single unders for double unders.

I love balancing the anaerobic training of crossfit and the endurance training of distance running. I feel stronger at both because of the other.

I love this program so far, but am already sick of folks ripping into athletes of other kinds. I thought one of the doctrines of crossfit was to learn and try other sports. Isn't Mara honing a sport? Isn't triathlon a sport? Isn't even body building a sport?

50 Sit-ups (laying off any pulling exercises while an injured bicep heals)
50 Dumbbell Swings 35 Lbs
25 KTE, 25 Bicycles on ground
50 Thrusters 20 lb dbs
50 Back extensions
25 Burpeess as rx'd, 25 w/o p/u and jump
200 jumps w/ intermittent double unders every 3 or 4 singles

Had a "goal" of high-fiving Pukie at the end but it didn't happen but this was by far my hardest WOD yet. This is definitely not for the "recreational" enthusiast! Matt Bryzcki get some of this

shoot i can't remember my time. it was about 30 minutes. it doesn't really matter as i couldn't do it as Rx'd anyways. i need about a week off from pull-ups. when i started (3 wks ago) i could do about 3-4. then after a week or so i got up to about 8-9. right now, i can't seem to do more than 2 at a time. KTE's... wow! i used to be able to do these in college. i'll try again after i lose 15-20lbs or my armpits can handle pull ups again. the rest of the workout was cool :) when i couldn't find a 45 deg platform to work on, i subbed a horizontal KTE for real KTE's then added 25 "knees to chest's" to make up for it. i also subbed a lateral hop over a 10" high by 18" wide box for double unders.

Comment #356 - Posted by: Joe-713 at April 29, 2006 4:11 PM
