I was just thinking about some deadlifts, and just in time for the holidays, here they are.

Comment #1 - Posted by: John H at December 17, 2005 6:58 PM

Whoa! Where did you find that wall? That is so cool!

Comment #2 - Posted by: beth at December 17, 2005 7:28 PM

well deadlifts are almost as good as a rest day, actually maybe even better

Comment #3 - Posted by: Jeff Crawford at December 17, 2005 8:34 PM

Come on, guys! Surely we can incorporate some sort of shoulder activity too! :)

Comment #4 - Posted by: Sandy S at December 17, 2005 11:48 PM

1/3 CFWU + 6 x 135 dl's
185-225-245-255-275-285(pr)-305(pr)
1/3 CFWU

Compared to 11/22
133-155-177-243-254-254-265
Very psyched. Went for 305 and did not expect I would do it, was expecting to fail to determine approx. max. Now believe I may be able to do 325. Bwt = 184

No time for today's WOD (one of my favorites!); morning overtime and a party after isn't going to allow it. 100 burpees with pushup and jump plus overhead clap: 8:27. Burpees are definitely not my best exercise. Shoulders are whipped.

Comment #6 - Posted by: kelly moore at December 18, 2005 2:30 AM

Did Cindy to catch-up, 30 mins later did today`s WOD
90K-100K-120K(PR)-130K(fail, seeing stars fail)-110K(11/22 fail point)-110K-110K-110K(fail)-100K

Finally - a wod I can do well at! Early morning workout today after hitting CrossFitNC and cashed in... GREAT TIME UP THERE - Thank you! If you're in the Raleigh - Fayetteville area, you need to check them out.

...Thanks a lot KELLY... for planting the seed of doubt in my WOD mind...could I actually do 100 burpees.?... well yes,,, BUT not @ KELLY speed but probably more humanesque...in 10:52 ..all jumping, gasping. pushupins, wobbling,,,glad to be finished
Also I just did DB DLs today working my way up to the 80#ers

MFBUNCH!!

Okay....you got me bad on "Cindy" and I got you on Friday's WOD...I thought with you being gone the lack of competition with you not being here would slow me down...I see I can't let that happen!! Hope your back is feeling okay cause I feel Greeaaat!!

Comment #23 - Posted by: Joey D at December 18, 2005 8:18 AM

newbie here, havn't done deadlifts in many years

135x3,185,205,225,255,275,305

could have gone heavier but I'll wait and see how my back feels tomorrow

As RXed.

BW: 165#

185#-235#-255#-275#-295#-315#(PR)-330#(PR)

Felt good so cranked out 340#. Wasn't quite the prettiest DL i've ever done, but it went up. Happy with today's work.

Did a couple of cleans and FSes with 135# after, too.

Comment #25 - Posted by: john v. at December 18, 2005 8:29 AM

155, 185, 205(old PR), 215, 225, 235, 245

I don't know where this improvement came from. I had a lot of trouble with 195 a couple of weeks ago and my legs felt like crap when I started. 245 didn't even feel very heavy.

Did yesterdays today -- strict form, squats almost to the ground, 10 rounds plus 5 pullups and 10 pushups.

Without strict form I almost double the rounds on this one. Perhaps it is time to try Mary.

Did today's later on....

On 245 my wedding band pinched my hand, felt like my ring finger was going to burst off at the top of the lift, have an interesting looking subdermal bruise starting now on the top of the entire finger, this ever happen to anyone else?
Never doing deadlifts w/ring on ever, ever again.

Since I don't have the equipment to do lifting, I did the Pilates Accelerated Body Workout. WOW! It is an awesome workout. I could definitely feel my hip flexors, which someone always used to tell me were really important to use regularly. I did listen and I still am...

COld's got the better of me today, so form had to take over for strength. Almost died just doing the cfwux3.
225, 245, 265, 285, someone talked to me and took about 20 minutes attempted 305 and it felt like it was bolted to the ground. got 295 pr, 275, 275.

So even with a cold and dragging like crazy my pr increased. Yesterday I even bested my last Cindy with this cold (24). CF continues to astound me every day.

May of been able to have gone a bit heavier, but am still stoked to set a new PR. Especially after getting my Arsss kicked by the make up workout.

This is the first time I used chalk. Saw an old friend w/a bag. My grip was shot and hit him up for some hoping it would help. Made a world of difference. Can't wait to try it on pull-ups. Reccomend anyone who hasn't tried chalk to go and do so.

Form fell apart at the end, which is why I lowered the load. I had much better form and ability last time, getting almost 270 before. Kinda disappointed, but my legs were sore today.

Comment #69 - Posted by: David Knutzen at December 18, 2005 3:09 PM

Warmup with pullups and dips
135x5
225, 245, 265- saw stars (PR), 265, 285 (PR), 305 (PR), 325 (PR, form a bit shaky)

I can't believe I just lifted that. A month ago I wouldn't have been able to come even close. Before my last lift, I looked at the pile of iron on the floor in disbelief. I knew I could do it, I just couldn't *believe* it until I'd done it.

Heavy things are amazing. Lifting heavy things is even more amazing.

I always take my wedding ring off when lifting- heard too many horror stories about missing digits, crushed rings, etc.

WU x 3
225 x 8
345 x 1
355 x 1(PR) old PR was 350, actually went up easy and this is where I lost the mental battle. Thought wow that was easy and went for
365 x 1 and failed, laughably, so back down to
345 x 1
345 x 1-failed and I was out of the game. finished with
295 x 1 for 4 singles.
Looking back thinking the WU and 225 x 8 probably wasn't necessary. Just one or the other.

BWT x 175 so I'm psyched about the PR.

We did the WOD at Gleason Park, Indian Harbour Beach, FL. (South of Patrick AFB., Space Coast)
Hope others can join us every Sat and Sun at 5:00pm. Get outside!

Heaviest we had for DL's was two 75# DBs.
WOD x 2 with 75#DBs and 2/3rd's of Michael in 23 min.
Sally passed on the DL's and jogged 2.5 mi. instead.

Comment #81 - Posted by: doug at December 18, 2005 6:11 PM

BTW=150. Did these on the non-olyimpic set at home. So, deeper DL's than I'm used to.

DL: 200/225/250/250/260/260/255.

Slowly creeping back to 2xBW.

Man do I love deadlifts. Every max-effort day lately has been a PR. I was hella' sore today from a great Parkour session yesterday, and combined with my belly full of Christmas party food I almost opted out of the workout all together. Glad I didn't!

The best part is, that's all the weight I have, so I'll have to remember to make it to the gym for the next ME deadlift day. Now THAT is a good feeling!

Finished up with 100 burpees in 7:53, what a killer!

Form was good on all except for last. Hand grip was hurting me more than lifting. I couldn't keep hold of the damn bar. Almost dropped 295 but managed to hold on with fingertips until back and legs were extended and straight...then let go!

Finished by running sprints up and down basketball court and then looked for somewhere to hang my NEW RINGS FROM!!!!!

Only have 225lbs so did that. But it was a good weight to get back into the swing of things. Also did 4x5 janda situps, and 1x3 one arm pushups.

Comment #104 - Posted by: Michael P at December 19, 2005 2:20 AM

Ran 5 miles then had no time to deadlift. I had to coach my daughter's basketball team. I was so proud of her, after a visit from Pukie in the morning and a twisted foot from friday, she insisted on playing anyway. She helped her team win, scoring the winning basket in overtime... she's 11.

330 is all the weight I got. The first rep at 330 was a little sloppy because of my grip. For the second rep at 330 I used the hook grip, my right thumb was uncomfortable but not unbearably so. The second lift was a lot cleaner. I'm going to try to do all deadlifts with the hook grip from now on.

Have not been doing deadlifts, so easing into it; 135, 145, 155, 165, 175, 185; began to feel like work, so wrapped up with 135. Knees a little creaky at first, so warm-up is a good idea. Lots of headroom here, but wary of injury potential.
