All 50 affiliates, plus HQ!

Comment #3 - Posted by: Jerry Hill at December 6, 2005 7:26 PM

Theyre all CrossFitters =P

Comment #4 - Posted by: P3po at December 6, 2005 7:28 PM

What, from Australia?

Comment #5 - Posted by: Matt Townsend at December 6, 2005 7:30 PM

Is this for real??//
Dan Silver I believe in the sweet back tats....

Comment #6 - Posted by: bradw at December 6, 2005 7:34 PM

I see where this is going. Since they're all at or near the SC CrossFit, only a local will know them all, and hence win the trip to SC. Pretty shrewd. =)

Comment #7 - Posted by: John Elstad at December 6, 2005 7:34 PM

Hey John - they aren't all local!

Comment #8 - Posted by: beth at December 6, 2005 7:35 PM

I just read that totally wrong and thought it said "can you name any person in this photo....." I have a lot of work to do but I think it will be worth it. I am going to hit the archives.

Comment #9 - Posted by: bradw at December 6, 2005 7:36 PM

Does anyone know how to get the Infadel green CrossFit T-shirt because I attempted contacting Lauren and had no luck with that?

Comment #10 - Posted by: Jason at December 6, 2005 7:52 PM

Comment #11 - Posted by: Matt G. at December 6, 2005 8:05 PM

nice collage - I like to call it:

70 people and 2 dogs who can kick my ass

Comment #12 - Posted by: gbass at December 6, 2005 8:12 PM

Hey, I just wanted to find out if it would be beneficial to do weights training as well as crossfit, ie. morning weights session, afternoon crossfit. I'm on holidays at the moment until march, so i have the time. What do people think?

Comment #13 - Posted by: Henry at December 6, 2005 8:13 PM

Awesome Idea

There a few dudes there I don't know

I get the idea

I will investigate

Comment #14 - Posted by: Patty at December 6, 2005 8:14 PM

MFT under Ryan A, I believe...

Comment #15 - Posted by: Alex McClung at December 6, 2005 8:17 PM

Henry,

I'm not sure how long you've been CFing, but wait a little bit. I run and swim in combination w/the WOD's. I did try doing other workouts too in the begining. I found that the WOD's along w/rotating runs and swims are plenty for me. I know people who love just doing the WOD's. It all depends on what you are going for. Just becarefull. I now have on going shoulder issues from pushing too hard, too early, too often. All in all, I think that the WOD's is plenty as far lifting goes. That and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee though.

Get some, go again!

Comment #16 - Posted by: DJ at December 6, 2005 9:19 PM

I hope no one thinks I was being serious in my earlier posting. By the way, I like gbass's title for the photo, "70 people and 2 dogs who can kick my ass".

Comment #17 - Posted by: John Elstad at December 6, 2005 9:28 PM

Yah, this ones easy. They are all named inspiration! :)

Comment #18 - Posted by: James Duggins at December 6, 2005 9:37 PM

I can name them all in the sense of giving them names. Does that count?

Comment #19 - Posted by: John B at December 6, 2005 9:43 PM

The dog is Athena, right? Athena, and a bunch of other people. How's that?

Comment #20 - Posted by: Mike at December 6, 2005 10:01 PM

Hey Jason...if you get an answer on the "Infidel" t-shirts, drop me a line. I e-mailed Lauren about them but have not received a response.

Comment #21 - Posted by: MGV535 at December 6, 2005 10:01 PM

I only saw four from up here...

Dave Werner
Michael Street
Eugene Allen
Nick Nibler

The rest are a mystery to me.

Comment #22 - Posted by: Nic Nakis at December 6, 2005 10:37 PM

Sorry, I'm overseas and a day behind. Have been following CF for sometime and doing the wod but not consistently. Have now committed and done three in a row, not well, but consistent. Did first mile on elyptical thing, 100 sit-ups and 50 extensions (20/10 x5). A little nervous with the back extensions as I really have to show up for work. Sore but feeling good.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Jim at December 6, 2005 11:50 PM

Oh by the way I don't know anyone in the picture. But you all look good.

Comment #24 - Posted by: Jim at December 6, 2005 11:50 PM

For you guys requesting the Infadel T-shirts... I had spoke with Lauren a few weeks ago in reference to T-shirts, she had mentioned she was swamped with getting them sent out so she probably hasnt been able to reply, yet. T-shirts are high demand right now. Have you looked around to get one made somewhere?

I can name them all.... but would have to kill you afterwards.

Comment #29 - Posted by: dru at December 7, 2005 2:22 AM

On the pics:
I totlly agree with the title "70 people nd two dogs tht can kick my ss"
On T-shirts:
Isn't it against the spirit of things to mke your own XFit shirts? I mean we get to pick the brains of some seriously generous people for all of our fitness needs, is it too hrd to buy some t-shirts? I also had e-mailed about the infidel t-shirt, cause I want to wer mine at Marine Corps PT with my uniform! Since they are 'gifts only' if I get one I'll be pleased, but think its contrary to the spirit of things to make my own.
Like someone said about, that and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee, a small coffee, no fu-fu shots of flavor & calories, but coffee notheless.

Comment #36 - Posted by: karl at December 7, 2005 5:07 AM

Y'all ever heard of McSweeney's? It's a literary quarterly (and website) created by David Eggers, who wrote a book called "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" (decent book by the way).

Anyway...today on the McSweeney's website I ran across a story I though some of you might find funny. Others will probably condemn me as an insensitive scumbag for linking it. Hey, how can I go wrong?

Without further ado..."Kid's Letters From Terrorist Camp". Enjoy.

Comment #37 - Posted by: Matt G. at December 7, 2005 5:12 AM

I only recognize Scott Hagnas, Greg Amundson and John Hackelman. Then there's some guy who vaguely resembles Rickson Gracie but I doubt it's him...

BWAH-HAHAHAHAHA...

Comment #40 - Posted by: karl at December 7, 2005 5:16 AM

Wow, I recognized one person! Mark Twight...

I guess that's due to a few books; Extreme Alpinism, Kiss or Kill and several articles.

I didn't even know he was on here.

Comment #41 - Posted by: Marc Allain at December 7, 2005 5:19 AM

LMAO at the letters from terrorist camp. I'm going to show my teen stepsons tonight and they'll love it!

Comment #42 - Posted by: tirzahrene at December 7, 2005 5:45 AM

Those letters from terrorist camp are pretty good.

Let's not forget that today is 07 December, which is the day that launched us into our last global war. I pray our nation has the will to persevere in the current war against tyrants just as our parents and and grandparents did in the last one.

Matt G., you made my day. Thanks for that link ;)

Comment #46 - Posted by: SethO at December 7, 2005 8:03 AM

3 rounds of "Kelly"

Run 400m
30 box jumps (mod 20")
30 wall ball, 20lb ball (mod thrusters, 2 * 20lb db's)

As modded 11:47
Thrusters and box jumps are getting better, feeling them almost exclusively in hams and glutes now - that's a good thing - until you start running which really hurts.

Last time 5 rounds in 21:48.

Cheers, kempie

Comment #47 - Posted by: kempie at December 7, 2005 8:12 AM

I only recognize Mike Rutherford , guess I got to get out more.

Comment #48 - Posted by: Britt at December 7, 2005 8:22 AM

SUGGESTION: I have been doing CF for about two months now, and loving it! Today's "contest," reminded me of one of the great qualities of CF... it's community!

Here is a strong suggestion, however; whenever you post a photo, would it be possible to have a short paragraph on who the photo depicts!!!! Sometimes the abscence of a narrative caption drives me nuts!! I feel a little left out of the loop. I love people generally and military, fire service, EMS, Police and fitness nuts specifically... would love to hear their stories!

Who is Ellen S. from Dec. 6!? Where did she ride her bike to? What did Dan Silver do to earn SFPD's medal of valor? I would love to hear these peoples story, and thereby "get to know them!" As a former LAPD Officer, and medal of valor recipient for that department (1993) I was dying to read Dan's story... I am sure it was a great one! Congrat's Dan, what a great honor, from a great department!

Anyhow, just a suggestion. I really hope you are able to act on it!

Best Regards,

Joseph H

Ditto to Joseph H and Thanks for the letters Matt - too funny!

Our WOD here in Fayetteville for DIF trainers & some clients:
Farmer carry
MB sit-up & throw x 15
Burpees x 15
Dips (L sit for those who can) x 15
V ups x 15
5 rounds total for time

Comment #51 - Posted by: John V at December 7, 2005 9:13 AM

First, I tried to come up with names for everyone, but figured the ones their parents gave them worked for them and who am I to intervene. Besides, I know a handful of them either personally, or by hanging around here long enough. I got so mad I kept shooting my machine gun into the air.

Second, I would love to get to a cert seminar, but doubt I will for some time. Cost is a major thing with me. If I do get there, as a contest winner or otherwise, I'm rooming with Dan because I know he'll go to and we actually know each other. Others are welcome to share the room.

Third, as for hearing Dan's story; as he said the other day in the comments, just e-mail him and he'll send you the account. Click on his name and his e-mail address will pop up. Worth the time to drop him a line.

Lastly, there is no lastly. I enjoy the pics and just wish Karl and I could have been thrown in as "stumpers." Oh, and I never noticed just how much Mike Minium and Dan look alike. Oh, and they are 2 of the 3 people on this site who could have identified me.

A wedgie fatwa on the non-believers.

Comment #52 - Posted by: Ron Nelson at December 7, 2005 9:31 AM

Oh yeah, Beth could identify me as well.

I'll put you guys on my emergency cards from now on.

I just completeled my first WOD.
1 mile run
100 back ext.
100 situps-came up a few short on this one, lost count
1 mile run
If kicking your own ass has ever been fun, crossfit is the way to do it.
Can't wait for tomorrow.
I have a friend in the Teams, he always tell me "the only easy day was yesterday"
I know completely agree.

Glad to be a part of this fantastic community. Also humbled to be in the same JPEG with some truly remarkable athletes.

Going home from office early. Someone put a sore throat fatwa on me.

Hey Ron - good you posted that I would recognize you. After reading your first post I was about to post in that regards but you got there first.

And I recognized you in that group shot from San Diego where someone took it from the rafters of Mike B's gym. So there!

Beth, you mean the guy in this picture?

Just a heads up for all of you contestants vying for that free trip, that's not me in the collage. Apparently there is some other drop dead gorgeous, red-goateed, freak of nature running around the CF community. I hope someone gets it...I'd like to know who that is to.

Comment #68 - Posted by: John Vernon at December 7, 2005 4:01 PM

Actually, Jeff already got that one correct, by my reckoning: Jimmy (W)

Comment #69 - Posted by: Mike Minium at December 7, 2005 4:07 PM

Improvised a WoD consisting of:
- 15minute hoops warm-up
- 30 military situps and correlating back extensions
- 45lb BB snatch practice x10 x 5 rounds
- 95lb OHS x7 x 5 rounds
- push-ups x20 x 5 rounds
- Additional BB cleans practice at the end 45-95lbs x5 in 4 sets.
- L-situps x3 cycles.

Group Moffett completed the Oakland Crossfit WOD. Exercises as follows:

Deck of Cards Day

Spades= Pushups
Hearts= Squat Jumps
Clubs= Pull ups
Diamonds= Squat Thrusters
Aces= 50 sit-ups

Total time for completing this WOD: 32:46:28. I do not know whether to day "Genius or Insanity" for the person who came up with this WOD. Legs are extremely tired after doing squat jumps and squat thrusters. Very intense workout.

Comment #71 - Posted by: Adrian D at December 7, 2005 4:36 PM

Yep Mike. That is the photo. And that is my forehead growing out of the top of Ron's head.

Comment #72 - Posted by: beth at December 7, 2005 4:39 PM

Adrian, glad you liked the workout. That was Jim's creation.

Comment #73 - Posted by: Mike Minium at December 7, 2005 4:51 PM

Beth,
I thought you were growing out of my forehead.
One thing I like about that picture is the fact that Eddie Lugo is seriously studying my form in the clean. Little did he know he was witnessing my PR in the clean at the time.

Mike,
You devil you. Hopefully I'll get to Oak-town to see the new place. Thanks for resurrecting my internet career as a fitness model.

Oh, some members of the Martin family could identify me as well, but I still hide from them in fear. So much fear.

Adrian,

Glad to hear you liked the "Deck of Cards" workout. I came up with this a year or two ago trying to keep the morning boot camps interesting. It doesn't sound too bad when you start but there always seem to be multiple legs or upper body cards back to back. Makes it really intense. Everyone in my group groans when I pull this one out.

By the way, feel free to post your times and comments on www.crossfitoakland.com. Hope to see you down there sometime.

Jim

No way for me to to get %100 but I know a scary number of those folks!!! And the ones I cheated on from other lists (mike m., Jeff, Stephan!) made me go "OH YEAh! Duh. I knew that."

Proud to know these folks either in person or on line. Rock On CrossFit. You've only just begun.... ;)

Shout out to JDogg, Eva, Carrie, Nicole, Brendan, Streeter, Robb, Lani, Matt G, Dan S, Mike M, Tony B, Blake, Eddie, Grady, Greg A, Fudgie, and Athena. OH and my heroine, Sage B!

Ron, Beth! I recognize both of you. Ron, how did you not make the list... heh. Anyone I met in person and didn't mention, you know the drill. :) No, Karl ain't on that map. Trust me.

Tonight I ran up and down the stairs since it was way past dark by the time I got home and the track is not lit up. I also did abs and push-ups in semi-Tabata style. My abs are still so sore from Monday!!!

Doug and Laura,
I keep forgetting I was wearing a name tag most of that day.
That and I was a "Chatty Kathy" after lunch.
Too bad, you guys would have been in the running for a free trip to SC.
