With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

Use as many sets each minute as needed.

"Use as many sets each minute as needed."

This means you can break them up, as long as you get the sets per minute...if you are going for 7 and you get 5 before a minute is up, then you are then done.

Correct me if I'm wrong; I see it as you do only 1 PU the first minute, 2 PU minute 2 all the way up until you can't do any more. I.E if you get to minute 30, you are up to 30 pull ups? PLease forgive. V/R john

no warm up today..

WOD: 10 complete rounds..continued beyond the 11th minute to complete 11. Followed by 1.5 mile run to warm up my legs and then 3 x 400 meter sprints and 4 x 200 meter sprints (walking 200 meters in between each). Feeling like I am going to regret it considering we haven't had any running incorporated in the workouts this week.

no warm-up,
did 15 rounds plus 8 movements that loosely resembled pull-ups into the 16th round, one or two round improvement over last time, if i remember correctly
finished w/jump rope x 600 singles, 2 x 100 (singles w/double-under every fifth rep), then 50 double-unders broken into sets of two and three, 50 singles
waiter walk, 2x200 meters (50 then 60 lb dumbbells), 50 sit-ups, 50 flutter kicks
i agree with joey d-probably will regret jump rope/waiter walk combination as we haven't see any running for a while. . .

Last time it came up, I tried it with stricked pull-ups (no kipping) and told myself I would try it again with kipping pull-ups.

Before I did the pull/chins. I did dips w/45IBs for the same set/reps.
1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9, 10-10.

12 minutes with 9 extra (last time was 12 minutes with 12 extra). I can say that all but the last 2 sets were unbroken. That much is better than the last time.

Glad to see that today's WOD is pull-ups, I managed to create a minor tear in my MCL this morning (earning myself a fat brace and some crutches) and pullups are about the only thing I can do. Lokkng forward to the pullup WOD!

Possible modification for the "temporarily differently pullup able": Once you max out, drop back to 1 rep per minute and restart the ladder; go for a total of at least [20?] minutes. I got ladders of 7 and 4 this way but ran out of time to start again.

since this was posted early and i still want to make up sunday's wod, but haven't yet had the chance, did this after yesterday's wod, because "it didn't look that bad."

gravitron assited, pulling about 55lbs of my weight, got through 8 rounds and was in failure for round 9. think i got about 5 out, but no more were going to happen. so much for not that bad... sunday's should be fun tonight.

Started with an unofficial TSC competition:

300-315-330 beltless sumo deadlifts
18 23# dead hang, no kip, throat touching bar pullups
25R-17L 52# GS kb snatches; 58 total SS style in the 5 minute time limit.

15 minute break between events. Bodyweight 117#.

I was curious to see how I would have done at tomorrow's cross country TSC if my work schedule would have allowed me to compete. My traps, shoulders, lower back are whining from yesterday's 95# thrusters and my still scabbed and bruised shin made me change my foot stance a bit on the deadlifts but in all it went OK. Deads were not real strong today; too many factors not in my favor. I chose weighted pullups rather than bodyweight because the set would be less taxing on my grip than a longer bwt set...needed to save it for the kettlebell snatches. Right hand snatches were strong and if I hadn't stopped when tearing a callous I feel that 30+ is within reach. Left side didn't fare as well; not having rock solid control sure didn't help. Kept the timer running while I applied the already peeled bandaids I had waiting and finished out the time with another 16 reps changing hands as needed.

Rested 15 minutes and removed what was left of the now shredded bandaids and reapplied more bandaids and tape, this time anchoring them more securely...

WOD: 21 rounds + 16 more pullups...didn't slow or break any of the minutes until number 19. Amazing how everything felt great until that set.

This WOD raises interesting questions about partitioning strategy. Go straight sets to failure, then partition, or start setting early in hopes of milking it for a greater total output ?

On 050629 I chose the latter, today I chose the former and got a VERY different, and unexpected effect.

Partitioning strategy has been discussed before on the forum in the context of certain benchmark WODs, esp the notion of "selling-out" early and then gutting through the rest.

Kind of a shot in the dark, but does anybody know how an officer in the AF can get himself into a position to actually do something? I'm interested in Rangers, Marine Recon, possibly SEALS. I've tried to crosstrain into Combat Rescue, but my current career refuses to let me go with no real solid reason. I thought maybe moving to a different branch might have a little more hope.

15 rounds going as fast as I can which means kipping. Then I did yesterday's WOD. Geez, that was brutal. Ended up doing sets of 5 with a minute off between each set. Doing them full squat to set the neuromuscular pattern for cleans and snatches. I think I ended up doing about 12 sets which means I also did 12 full cleans. Great Oly practice.

missed yesterday so:

2x40lbs dumbells thrusters (to a bench)

10,10,8,2,8,2,8,2,8,2,10,5

followed by todays pullups:

got 8ish

had to do it on the crossbar to the smith machine and some ass blocked me when a pullup bar became available, so I lost 10 seconds at the beg of the 8th set....this felt easy but I died endurance wise...all pu to a dead-hang

5 + 5 of 6! I told you I sucked at pull-ups. I guess a mitigating factor is that I had to use a Smith machine w/ the bar at forehead height, but still...

Afterward, I did 30 negatives (5 w/ palms in, 5 w/ palms out, etc.), so at least my workout exceeded ten minutes. I'm definitely going to work on this.

With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

Got thru the 16th minute...failed going for 17.

WOD - 15 sets plus 8 on the 16th
Remaining sets were as many as I could get unassisted then finish right away on the gravitron. Finished all 20 sets in 23:10.
This is a 3 set improvement plus dropped 6 min off the total time to complete.

Did the same workout with dips and finished all 20 sets. This is a 5 set improvement. These 2 WOD results exceeded my wildest expectations. Thanks Crossfit.

Did something a little different, but used the one the minute timing.

95 lb. thruster w/ thick bar x 5 immediately followed by pushups on pushup bars for depth x 5. Did 10 sets (minutes) followed by assisted pullups, 5 reps on the minute with Ironmind Eagle Claws for 10 sets (minutes).
