First time WOD. Didn't seem like it would be as hard as some of the others but still challenging.

Proud to post my first WOD time for "michael"

Must take Rest Day . . . seeing visons of angels on the internet.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Rob G at August 24, 2005 5:34 PM

Is it okay to say that those women are drop-dead gorgeous and that I want to have all of them as my mistresses, assuming my wife wouldn't mind?

WOW!

Comment #5 - Posted by: Kris at August 24, 2005 5:40 PM

I have to agree. I didn't think I could be MORE motivated to work out...but it seems that moving to Huntington Beach would do it!

Comment #6 - Posted by: Jesse Woody at August 24, 2005 5:49 PM

That's just...ummmm...I mean...I think that...wow

Comment #7 - Posted by: tony young at August 24, 2005 6:37 PM

Notice the woman on the far left being attacked by the water. We pray for her safety.

Comment #8 - Posted by: brendan melville at August 24, 2005 6:51 PM

Steve HB . . . I understand now.

Comment #10 - Posted by: David B. at August 24, 2005 6:57 PM

Heck, I didn't look that good BEFORE the CP Mud Run!!! It's just not right, I tells ya!

hehe. Next time look me up, CFHB! I'll meet up with you before or after.

Comment #15 - Posted by: Laurar at August 24, 2005 7:20 PM

That does it! A "girls of crossfit" calendar MUST be done.

Comment #16 - Posted by: Don Stevenson at August 24, 2005 7:20 PM

Wow! Now if I only had workout partners like that, but no I only get mosquitoes. Great job ladies you will keep a lot of us guys working hard that's for sure. Now how do I make this my wallpaper???

Comment #17 - Posted by: Michael P at August 24, 2005 7:29 PM

Wow !

Comment #18 - Posted by: Joseph_B at August 24, 2005 7:43 PM

Motivation if I ever saw it! My girlfriend and her friends did the Mud Run this year too... Their pics didn't turn out this good!

Comment #19 - Posted by: DJ at August 24, 2005 7:59 PM

You should see the pics from the "Camp Pendleton Mud Wrestle," those are the good ones.

-D.

Comment #20 - Posted by: Dan Silver at August 24, 2005 8:17 PM

Now Don, let's not be sexist - a "men of crossfit" calendar might have a small but steady audience too. And for one or two of us, a "pitbulls of crossfit".

Comment #21 - Posted by: beth at August 24, 2005 8:42 PM

request: CrossFit girls gone wild

Comment #22 - Posted by: Ben K at August 24, 2005 8:59 PM

Looks like the CrossFit marketing department has struck gold (or should I say blonde?) again.

So the next seminar is going to be at CrossFit HB, right?

Comment #23 - Posted by: Mike Minium at August 24, 2005 9:12 PM

speechless!

Comment #24 - Posted by: zach at August 24, 2005 9:19 PM

"That is why we find ourselves disproportionately graced by the company of intelligent and successful men and woman.”

Not to mention.....

Comment #25 - Posted by: RossB at August 24, 2005 9:43 PM

So this what rest days are like over there eh?...
Girl on the left-does she CF?

Comment #26 - Posted by: Alexander Karatis at August 24, 2005 9:47 PM

It's all I can do to keep up; really!

Comment #27 - Posted by: Steve HB at August 24, 2005 9:52 PM

Beth, I thought about the gender equality issue and having a "guys of crossfit" calendar too.

But then 6 pictures of Matt G and 6 of Dan Silver might go to their respective heads :)

Comment #28 - Posted by: Don Stevenson at August 24, 2005 10:03 PM

Oh - even better idea Don - a "humor of Dan Silver" calendar! Like the far side ones or something.

Besides, there are some other attractive guys I know besides Dan and Matt. How about Robb Wolf? Mike Minium, Greg Amundson (though he is all over the web so maybe we don't need that one as much), Eddy works just fine too! I don't think I could make a list of only 12!

Comment #29 - Posted by: Beth at August 24, 2005 10:16 PM

hey, this guy isnt married...how do i get to Huntington Beach?!

seriously...wow.

Comment #30 - Posted by: ediddy at August 24, 2005 10:23 PM

I am not going to comment on the sex appeal of other men.....

Comment #31 - Posted by: Don Stevenson at August 24, 2005 10:25 PM

Not big on running myself so I instead propose Mud Wrestling. The pictured women, of course, strongly encouraged to participate.

Comment #32 - Posted by: Rob M. at August 24, 2005 10:27 PM

i said the EXACT same thing as the first post here...

Comment #33 - Posted by: Lance W. at August 24, 2005 10:30 PM

Anyone have the Nike "Free" shoes?....feedback please

Comment #34 - Posted by: Jeromy at August 24, 2005 10:32 PM

Ya'd think that ya'll don't have hot chicks to train with south of the border?

Guns, warfare, terrorism, no health care, and not enough girls?!?

I'd best stay up north :>

Comment #35 - Posted by: Josh Briggs at August 24, 2005 10:47 PM

So yeah, I'm officially motivated.

Comment #36 - Posted by: Erik_b at August 25, 2005 12:00 AM

-D.

Comment #37 - Posted by: Dan Silver at August 25, 2005 3:02 AM

Mud Run?! Sign me UP!! I was so involved in the beautiful picture I forgot today was a rest day!

Comment #38 - Posted by: Joey D at August 25, 2005 4:18 AM

Motivated by the picture to do a modified "Elizabeth" workout:
21-15-9
Clean with 2 40 lb. dumbells
Kettlebell swings with 1 40 lb. dumbell
push-ups with a 25 lb dumbell on my back.

12:30.

My wife did squats, dead-lifts and burpies, plus a half-mile run.

Comment #39 - Posted by: kevindhodges at August 25, 2005 4:34 AM

As if I needed more motivation to finish this deployment and get back to Pendleton! WOW it's going to be good to get home next month. First stop, Pendleton fitness center to look for upcoming Mud Runs and other events.......

Comment #40 - Posted by: BrianW at August 25, 2005 4:59 AM

Iīm looking forward to two weeks holiday in Greece.
Maybe someone has assembled a no-weights/simple/on-the-road workout plan (or so), and wants to share it.
Write me!

BTW: NICE PIC!!! Thatīs how to enjoy a Rest Day.

Comment #41 - Posted by: Daniel at August 25, 2005 5:08 AM

In the words of the "Continental"

"wow-e wow wow wow"

If the girl on the left is reading this, please email me. Enjoy the break everyone.

Comment #42 - Posted by: John at August 25, 2005 5:13 AM

Can anyone tell me what diameter rope is suitable for the "rope climb". I'm wondering if 1 1/2'' is OK or is 2" advisable.
Kevin

Comment #43 - Posted by: Kevin at August 25, 2005 5:28 AM

Kevin, posting a serious question on a day like this is not the way to get an answer . . . better to put it over in the "equipment" section of the message board.

I think either works well; choice would probably depend on your hand size. The rope that I can use is 1-1/2, and it feels good (for me), but I have fairly small hands.

Check out these threads:

This one on making your own pretty much lets you fine-tune the diameter exactly as you like it:

This one lists links to several suppliers:

Good luck!

Comment #47 - Posted by: Neil Eldridge at August 25, 2005 6:10 AM

Daniel, where in Greece are you going?
perhaps I can be of some assistance. ;-)

Comment #48 - Posted by: Alexander Karatis at August 25, 2005 6:17 AM

Jeromy,

Here is a thread on the Nike Frees from another forum I frequent:

http://www.runtexu.com/forum/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7008&PN=1

and another thread:

http://www.runtexu.com/forum/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6396&PN=1

I know most of the people posting in the threads above, and they are all runners- most of them put up 25-40 miles per week. Some of them wear the Frees as their only shoe; some wear them just for shorter runs (or not for their long run, anyway). Most of the people I know with Frees are happy with them- but I have heard one report of them falling apart after less than 100 miles, but Nike will probably replace those for free.

Personally, I don't own Nike Frees (I'm an ASICS man), but my opinion is if you want to run barefoot- run barefoot. Start at low distances and work up as your feet toughen. Or run cross-country.

Email me if you have more questions...

Comment #49 - Posted by: peter at August 25, 2005 6:32 AM

It being a rest day, i decided to do a little skills practice. Worked on handstands, l-sits, and tuck planche. However, having smoked my abs and back with yesterday's WoD, i found l-sits and tuck planche work to be an exercise in futility. Managed to hold a handstand for over 30 seconds on one of my attempts, though! Happy about that (i really suck at handstands, among other skills / exercises).

Now off to do martial arts demos / seminars for the day. This is turning out to be less of a rest day that planned...

Comment #50 - Posted by: john v. at August 25, 2005 6:35 AM

this is why I love CF-ing!! lol

keep it up

Ah, the pleasures of living in OC. Lived here for over 30 years and the landscape never gets boring.
I was just telling the kids that tomorrow looks like a good day to head to HB and relax.
Looks like I was right!
Seeing the pic, I'm going to have to drop in on CFHB very soon. E-mail coming your way HB crew.

I'll let the rest of you know how it goes when they kick my rear.

Comment #55 - Posted by: Ron N at August 25, 2005 8:30 AM

Ron, do you REALLY think that we want to hear about your WORKOUT???

I think the single guys want to know names, phone numbers, zodiac signs etc etc.

Just trying to help.

Comment #57 - Posted by: John Walsh at August 25, 2005 8:54 AM

Michael 28:19. And about that 'wasteland of central Florida' comment...dude, Gainesville Florida is absolutely the land of the walking goddesses. Only to be outdone by the girls of FSU. And this comes from an old G8R who's been in SOCAL, NOCAL and Hawaii since 92. No offense, CFHB.

Comment #73 - Posted by: mark b at August 25, 2005 8:36 PM

Is that Meghan second from right?!

Comment #74 - Posted by: Tait R. at August 25, 2005 8:40 PM

20:00

Subbed good mornings for back extensions, otherwise, as rx'd.

Didn't time myself last time, but I went into this one hoping to beat 25 minutes. After the second round was also under 7 mins, I decided to try for a total of 21 minutes. I was stoked when I exceed that goal, so I figured I might be able to do my first muscle up too. I couldn't.

Comment #75 - Posted by: brody at August 25, 2005 9:32 PM

Jeff,
You already tried to lure me south by saying you're near a "chicken ranch."
Now pictures?
Couldn't hurt.

Played golf today. Different.
CF has helped my swing apparently. Didn't lose a single ball.

Comment #76 - Posted by: Ron N at August 25, 2005 11:29 PM

Ooo-fscking-RAH!

I spent a couple of summers at Camp Pendleton, and I never, but *NEVER* saw anything as motivational as that picture!

You go, ladies! And me, I'm just not going to say anything more.

One of a few grab bag workouts at Brand X yesterday:

For time: 21, 18,15,12,9,6, 3
45# Thrusters
Pull ups

38 minutes (that's 84 pull ups and 84 thrusters)

Comment #79 - Posted by: laurar at August 26, 2005 10:01 AM

I would like to be introduced to the one furthest left. I am in Camp Pendleton and I Crossfit!

Comment #80 - Posted by: Jason at August 26, 2005 12:39 PM

Sheesh, what *is* it with you guys and the young lady on the left (I assume everyone means 'house' left) in that pic?

If I weren't an old married Dad kinda guy, I'd be fighting to get in line for an introduction to ANY of those beautiful, fit young Crossfitting women!!

Got my wife interested in serious training lately, though, so I think by the end of the year I'm a-gonna be havin' the best of all worlds!

The family that X-Fits together, uhm, I can't think of a rhyme for that...
