Partying too much and I got behind, had to do something today cause getting in pullup contests at keggers doesn't count as a workout.

Warmed up: 3 rounds: samson stretches and 15x 45lb OHS

Then I tried to do today's WOD with OHS:
3x 145lb (bw)
2x 150
2x 150
2x 155 (failed second)
Then I dropped it again and decided today wasn't the day for OHS.

Cooled down with 50x 1 pood kb swings and 50x situps.

Musta worked too hard today or not got enough sleep, cause I feel like crap.

Nic-

Does too. Kegstands for gymnastic stimulus are a good accompaniment.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Ellen at June 24, 2005 3:22 AM

As much rest as required.

You are aiming to increase the weight with each set till you are doing one rep max weight.

1x 255
1x 265

This is the first time I've done deadlifts searching for a maximum. Felt strong, would've gone for 300+ but didn't have room left on the bar. Going to have to figure out how to get more weight going before next time.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Rico at June 24, 2005 5:48 AM

I never really cared for the deadlift too much

Also, I need to buy more weights. I was reduced to throwing 2.5s on the bar.

Comment #16 - Posted by: Steve72 at June 24, 2005 6:40 AM

Started the morning with joint mobility and clubbell work:

2x60 seconds 15# mills per hand done with some speed: 24L/25L and 26R/26R
Tabata 10# mills, switching hands every 20 second interval: 8L/9R/9L/10R/9L/10R/9L/10R
3x5/5 15# inward pendulums done explosively

WOD - Setted deadlifts with strict TSC weighted pullups and HSPUs done off 12" stools (all full range, hands to shoulders depth)

Beltless trap bar deadlifts:
205x3
225x2
235x2
245x2
265x1
275x1
305x1! - it practically shot off the floor
315x1! - finally three big wheels easily, surprised me
315x1! - I had to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it was just as easy; had another 15-20#

Consistently breaking 300# with the trap bar has been difficult for me. Today was a real shot in the arm; I'm stoked!

Weighted TSC pullups:
20x3
30x2
40x2
45x2
50x1
55x1
60x1
65x1
70x1

Full range HSPUs all done in sets of two except for three on the first round. The first set was a grinder; I haven't done these in a long time. Later sets became stronger and easier.

5x5/5 52# kb snatches, 1 minute rest between rounds.

Comment #17 - Posted by: kelly moore at June 24, 2005 6:46 AM

Then KB snatch mania with 1.5 pood bell
40 singles each arm,3 sets of 10, double KB snatches.

John,

There are three reasons I like trap bar deadlifts:
1) after years of deadlifting with a straight bar and probably using less than optimal form my knees were hurting bad.
2) I still can't lift as much with the trap bar as with a straight bar, perhaps because I can't use my body to help stabilize the bar. However, I am getting closer to that much desired beltless triple bodyweight trap bar deadlift!
3) It's more applicable to the way I lift things on the farm, i.e. lifting two bales of hay, hauling heavy loads in a wheelbarrow.

I don't have dumbbells (90# each) or kettlebells that weigh enough to make up the difference that I can use on a trap bar.

Comment #29 - Posted by: kelly moore at June 24, 2005 8:46 AM

WOD was #2

325 x 3
345 x 2
345 x 2
355 x 2
(370 x 1) x 5

I wasn't feeling it today. Went off strong but I hit 370 and just stopped. I was using a platform that was kind of unstable and didn't feel confident with the weight. I may back it down a bit next time and run the videocamera for a form check.

Im posting low lifting figures because thats all the weight i have at home. It never occured to me that i would ever need more than 85K. thanks to CF I have to go and buy some more weights.

3 x 50k
3x2 x 70k
1 x 8ok
5 x85k

went on to do 3 sets of assisted dips. have slung two judo belts over my pull upbar, and am using one inner tube as support ( i can only do 3 without support)

so 3 x8.

I will have a muscle up by 5th august.

My jet lag has gone.

ps ANNIE practised by clean and my snatch and was very very naughty

First time I've broken 400 in over a year. My last 2 attempts crashed via the vibrating leg.

I'm in the litterbox right now and have been following x-fit as much as possible for a few months now. Results are spotty as I'm sometimes in the boonies for a coupla weeks at a time. However, I'm kinda psyched 'cause I broke 8min on Fran recently and broke 400 on my DL today.

I enjoy the workouts (sorta, in a masochistic sense) but I can't seem to get anyone around me to give up bicep curls long enough to try it. Oh well. I guess it's for the best. We have fairly limited equipment anyway and I feel like a hog as it is running from place to place and 'working in' with the bodybuilders.

Comment #40 - Posted by: Justin C. at June 24, 2005 10:06 AM

Wasn't sure I was up for heavy lifts today, but decided to go for it. Glad I did, this was a good (for me) session - still a little scared about lower-back injuries since the time years ago when I "threw it out" and took *months* to recover, but:

Modified CFWU x 3,

DL (weights in lb, BW 170-175)
3x240
2x250
2x260
2x270
1x280
1x290
1x300
1x310
1x310 (conveniently, my PR max is all the plates the bar could hold, too!)

Still had energy, so I worked OHS the same way to clean up my form (keep a good lockout on the bar, butt to heels, etc):
3x60
2x70
2x75
2x80
1x85 (knee down but recovered)
1x85
1x90 (failed miserably)
1x90
1x90 (half-assed slow negative)
1x90

Yes, I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

SF,
Andy M

at bottom just prior/after stop, I would lean forward. Practice keeping head up and off of toes

Form got better and started to look up and not leaning forward.

WOD:

2:205(prev PR)/205/205
1:215(PR)/225(PR)/235(PR)/245(PR)/255(PR)
then 5x135...felt like a plaything.

i guess im finally starting to get the DL...50# PR seems to support that claim. i think the difference is having a much stronger neutral back position.

im so pumped i dont know what else to do today...run, swim, bar muscleup work, lottery??? and once again Andrew WK is great.

Don't know if I did this right. I'm a long-time CF lurker, first-time poster.

3 x 135 (bw)
2 X 225
2 x 275
2 X 315
1 X 335 (max)
failed on 345 so I dropped 90 lbs. and put 50 lbs. on instead
1 x 275
1 x 285 (barely)
failed on 315 again so...
1 X 285

I did 30 upside-down crunches as penance for so much failure.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention 10-minute warm-up on the Concept II. I love that thing!

Comment #62 - Posted by: Ronnie at June 24, 2005 2:26 PM

Executed the WoD as follows: (bw = 179)
- warm-up of 2 x b-ball games of 21.
- 135x3, 185x2, 205x2, 225x2, 235x2 (fail), 235x2, 245x1, 265x1 (fail), 255x1, 255x1, 260x1 (fail).
- additional HSPU, L-pull-up and military sit-up work.

Note: should be able to do much more on the straight-legged DL with straight bar: loss of grip grip seems to always be an issue (possible forearm strength) and/or overall form?

BW 162#. Full CFWU x 3
Still moving up slowly, 5# at a time

Slight soreness in back limited efforts. Arms still messed up. A nice dinner and some drinks should alleviate that.

Tonight
some event specific training.
Farmers Walks
2, 230lb cylinders, 4 times over a measured 150 foot course.
This was relatively easy, deadlift 460lbs, and run with it.

Atlas Stones
Tried the #2 stone, 260lbs. Couldnt get it past my knees.
I now have a new nemesis.

Still not up to deadlifting. Did back squats instead working from 185 to a PR at 230. Then did run 1:30 on the treadmill/sprint 50m outside, repeat times four.
