I'm not sure I've ever had the pleasure of Angie's company before, so I'm gonna ask:

I'm thinking that we're supposed to complete all of the reps for a given exercise before moving on to the next exercise...correct?

Comment #1 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 15, 2005 8:05 PM

I think I need some clarification on that too b/c I was just going to do pyramids of 10 for each one and mix them together.

Comment #2 - Posted by: Paul Moldovean at April 15, 2005 8:13 PM

A review through the message board shows that you complete 100 pullups, then 100 pushups etc., etc., etc.

(Hey, I'm not lookimg forward to it any more than you guys are.)

Ever since I saw the list of "The Girls" I've been waiting for Angie to come along. I hope she's gentle.

In the time it took me to write that last message, Matt G. completed Angie...
Matt G. you are a CrossFit animal.

Not stellar, but 5 months ago it took me an hour to get 50 pullups. Got the 100 pulls in 21 min. this morning. It was all coasting after that.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Will H at April 16, 2005 5:16 AM

What kinda squats is everyone doing? Normal or overhead??

Are assisted pull ups ok?

New Pullup PR of 40
Never thought I would be better at pullups than pushups, which took me the longest.

Comment #14 - Posted by: KevinA at April 16, 2005 6:26 AM

I have never had the "pleasure" of meeting Angie either. I hope our meeting stays friendly.

Comment #15 - Posted by: brian_g at April 16, 2005 6:27 AM

Phew! 13:56. I am glad that I am good at push ups and situps, cause pull ups suck for time!

Hey Kristi...

These are "air" squats. No additional weight, just your body.

Comment #18 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 16, 2005 7:28 AM

33 minutes.

felt heavy this morning. could have been that nasty chinese food late last night.

pullups took about 15 minutes.

I like this one. Its one of those I feel like I actually have a chance at when I see it up here.

Was that "Theee" RUTMAN posting a comment???

Nothing like trying to complete Fran with Grady Mac in your face and Mike Minium watching your back! Havin' fun at HQ?!?!

We'll get to Angie later on. Pull ups are at issue with my right elbow at this time.

Used rings for pull-ups.

I am a little dissapointed with my time (I was hoping to break 20), but I think that the last time I did this it took me more than 25 minutes just to do the pull-ups and those were on a bar.

It took me about 3 minutes, just to do the squats in one unbroken set.

Comment #32 - Posted by: Ahmik at April 16, 2005 10:42 AM

For time:
100 Pullups - on the rings, no kip.
100 Pushups
100 Situps
100 Squats
Total time - 14:48.48

WOD was #3. Started the day with calisthenics (450 pushups, 350 Abs, 150 Pullups), second workout was a weightlifting session.

Gotta run later. I need carbs...

i was shooting for 15min going in so not too shabby. probably shouldve taken a little less down time b/w pullup sets. oh well, ill get er next time. cant wait to see your time, Matt G.

off to the pool and maybe a 1.5mi jog later.

Comment #34 - Posted by: ediddy at April 16, 2005 10:47 AM

i guess i dont have to wait...hehe.

Comment #35 - Posted by: ediddy at April 16, 2005 10:47 AM

I'm a little disappointed in my time...but given what I already did this morning I guess it's to be expected.

Comment #36 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 16, 2005 10:52 AM

excuses, excuses...only kidding. its a great time w/o considering what else youve already done. add the fact that your pullups were on the rings w/ no kip AND youd already done a buttload of calisthenics and youre time begins to look very Matt G-esque. well done, killer.

Comment #37 - Posted by: ediddy at April 16, 2005 10:56 AM

Thanks e...one of these days I'm going to have to learn how to kip so I can pick up some speed.

Comment #38 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 16, 2005 11:00 AM

18:58, sit-ups and squats unbroken, and I started with 20 unbroken pull-ups.

Comment #39 - Posted by: Sam L at April 16, 2005 11:05 AM

21:15

Did pull-ups on rings and my kip on rings is lousy. They took more than half of the time.

Comment #40 - Posted by: jorgen at April 16, 2005 11:07 AM

14:24

Did the WOD directly after a 5 mile run, so was a little lacking on energy and explosiveness. Disappointed that I had to break the pushups at 75; just didn't have the mojo to do a perfect 100 straight.

Comment #41 - Posted by: JSP at April 16, 2005 11:11 AM

Slooooow

32:26

There was a jumpstretch band involved and some jumping pullups too. It wasn't pretty, but it got done!

Felt great today, pullups still my weak point, getting better. Does anyone out there have any ideas on shoulder rehab, I have bicep tendonitis, and it bothers me a little. Please help.

Comment #43 - Posted by: Shannon W. at April 16, 2005 11:31 AM

Pull up tough (all underhand sets of 10)
100 push-up
100 sit-up anchor feet
100 air squat
Time 35.35 1st time.

Comment #44 - Posted by: Rod at April 16, 2005 11:49 AM

You know you are a crossfit neck if
you plant a 20ft poll in the back yard for rope climb and a pair of rings

My wife and I are hooked. Keep up the great workouts.

Comment #45 - Posted by: Rod at April 16, 2005 11:51 AM

17:28
found this one very hard.Pull ups damned near killed me.

Comment #46 - Posted by: bw at April 16, 2005 11:51 AM

Shannon, I see a p.t. for what you are complaining about.
1. Lay on your back with your knees bent and your elbows out to your side at a 90 degree angle from your body.
2. loop the tubing around each hand with your palms facing each other (like a karate chop)
3. Push your shoulder blads toward your bottom
4. hold
5. Bring both hands apart until both elbows are at 90 degrees
6. move one hand down toward the floor like a karate chop. Only go about half way down and hold for 1-2 seconds. Everytime you the other should not move and you may have to make sure your shoulder blades pushed down the entire time.

I perform 10 reps with 3 sets 2 times per day. If you would like i can scan a photo of the exercise to help illustrate.

pullups took me 11 minutes

Comment #48 - Posted by: kevin gp at April 16, 2005 12:27 PM

Did half of Angie today - 50 of everything. Still hurting from last week. And Angie is one hell of an intro into week three of CF....

Time : 12:37.

Broken sets of pullups (mine suck) and situps. Pushups and squats unbroken.

Comment #49 - Posted by: mg at April 16, 2005 12:39 PM

Pack workout @ Brand X
30 HSC with Thruster (20# dbs)
30 pull ups
Run 800M
15 HSC with Thruster (20# dbs)
15pull ups
Run 400M
9 HSC with Thruster (20# dbs)
9 pull ups
Run 200M

45 minutes

Big dog did the Bear Complex with 75# barbells in place of HSC with thrusters.

Comment #50 - Posted by: LauraR at April 16, 2005 12:42 PM

Ok so I was feeling quite 100% and it is only my 4th WOD (I know poor excuse.....)

I scaled it down to 60 of each

Pull ups (assist) 15/10/10/7.... 7 mins
Push ups 15/15/10/10/10 7 mins
Sit ups 30/15/15 5 mins
Squats unbroken

So all up about 20 mins.

Still shaking a little but seek comfort in the fact that I am not doing this alone!! Thanks for being there guys ;)

Comment #51 - Posted by: kristi at April 16, 2005 1:03 PM

Did the Big Dog at BrandX. Not sure what the time was but I know I finished up as LauraR was leaving the Gym. The Bear will get better when I get a consistent "pop." Felt good when I did it right, like mud when I didn't. Did the pullups, broken, but I think I hit my stride with the kip. Haven't found that rhythm since the kip was deemed verbotten in '96. The running though, well, that's going to take some time. Good stuff... gonna go see if there's any seats left for the seminar May 7th.

Comment #52 - Posted by: lanedj at April 16, 2005 1:12 PM

15:06.

Blazed through the pullups, after which my biceps were decidedly opposed to the idea of repeatedly de-contracting for pushup extensions.

Comment #53 - Posted by: josh at April 16, 2005 1:22 PM

Strict pull-ups, no kip.
29:15

50 single arm kettlebell swings each arm. 1.5 pood kettlebell.

First time with "Angie".

Waiting to see the "three bars of death". That isnt a hint. I dont need to see it any sooner than I have too.

Comment #54 - Posted by: John H. at April 16, 2005 1:23 PM

33:10. Half the time was the pullups. Those took a while and I need to work on kipping.

Leanne did 50 "weighted" pullups and sub'd 4-count flutter kicks for situps.

Comment #55 - Posted by: Steve S at April 16, 2005 1:26 PM

35:58

So, I'm lying in bed last night thinking about the most intimidating of the "girls" and "Angie" comes to mind - the concept of 100 pullups alone has me fearful. Little did I know that Coach is a "fitness Freddy Krueger" invading my nightmares to make them a reality!

Anyhow - first time with this lady - the rounds break down as follows:

pullups (15:36) 10 reps * 2 sets - 5*6 - 4*10 - 2*5
pushups (6:46) 30-20-15-15-10-5-5
situps (7:17) 30-25-20-15-15
squats (6:19) 25-25-20-20-10

Met pukie in a delayed manner (about five minutes after finishing) - mostly dry, but not all the way. I guess you know when you are getting older when instead of regretting heavy drinking the night before, I regret my cheat day with potato chips, hot wings, ice cream, and cookies!

Comment #56 - Posted by: Patrick at April 16, 2005 1:27 PM

30 min for WOD, elbows bugged me a bit after the 100 pull ups. 100 push ups no prob, 100 sit ups, fast, Sub'd 100 wall shots with 20lb Dynamax instead of air squats. But why you might ask? Because I just spent a fortune buying one and I had to try it out!!! Felt great, but taxing.

All you animals breaking 15min on this one, you rock!

Pull-ups: broken into sets of 5 (first 100 in a single WOD!)
Sit-ups: sets of 20
Push-ups: gave out at 60 (1/2 were girly)
Squats: sets of 25
Back to push ups: final 40.

Wanted to break the 20 minute mark, but couldn't do it. I was holding back too much and teaching my a student about CF during the pull ups, they alone took me about 12 minutes.

Did some Shootfighting afterward, but no running. Missed the 10k too - because I was moving into my new house. My whole body hurts from THAT workout.

Finished off with some snatches, which don't bother me and a 6:59 one mile sprint.

Comment #74 - Posted by: Troy Archie at April 16, 2005 5:01 PM

got home to late to do Angie...or at least to do her right...wouldn't want to dissapoint as she seems highly demanding requiring THE most reps I've ever given.
Perhaps tomorrow I'll double date.

had to use a rafter for my pull-ups.
and my squat was slow. I rolled my ankle the other night when I was running the 10k. I know it was a row, I made it two miles and rolled it on a rock. The only good thing was I was running a loop and only had to limp home 1/2 a mile.

For the past week I did a regular weight training workout and it felt so easy that I only had to rest a min. or less in between sets. I was also able to lift heavier. I'm probably going to do a week of CF and a week of weight training and see how I feel. I want to mix things a little bit.

Half Angie: 12:50

I'm extending my 3 week recovery ramp-up to a 4th week, since last week I was fully dedicated to coordinating my company's ISO certification audit (ISO 13485), and wasn't in the gym after Monday. I'm planning on going half-WODs this week on a conventional 3:1 schedule. Missed you guys...

Mellow day, for me, at the seminar. Played camera jockey. Had no excuse not to make this up...

Pullups on the rings with concentration on full ROM. Pushups on the floor, same full ROM, no cheat with head, belly or chest. Situps unanchored, jiu-jitsu style. Squats, er, squatish. Everything broken but the squats.

20:00 flat.

Ring pullups.

A little bridging and handstands beforehand.

Comment #105 - Posted by: Scott H at April 17, 2005 8:49 PM

For time of 22'25"80
100 Body rows on Smith Machine w/ feet on bench
100 Push-ups
100 Chinees
100 Squats

Opted for body rows instead of pull-ups because my lats are still sore from the 5 rounds of 15 L-Pullups + 21 Back extensions workout I did on Friday.

32:11 - much longer than I thought it would take. It took 13min+ just for the pullups.

Comment #111 - Posted by: Jay at April 18, 2005 9:06 AM

Pull-ups (35,15,10,10,10,5,5,5,5)
Push-ups (23,20,22,7,8,10,10)
Sit-ups (48,22,30)
Squats (50,15,20,15)

Pull-up rests were 30 seconds, cut back to 15 seconds when the sets of 5 started). Rests for the other exercises were genrally shorter. Time was 16:10 - almost 2 minutes slower than the time we did this last July.

Comment #112 - Posted by: Ryan Atkins at April 18, 2005 9:41 AM

Wow, its been almost an hour and I'm still not right...

14:40

New PR on the first set of PU (20) then sets of 10 and whatever I could get (starting around 60); took over 7 minutes here. Kipping but but no jumping.

Push-ups: 70/30. Felt like I could get 80 straight but not 100 so I broke it early for time's sake.

Sit-ups...harder than I thought. unbraced

Squats, 50, 20, 10, 10, 10

wife joined me and did 50 of everything in 13 min!

This proved hard than I thought, especially after 100 pull ups kindly removed skin from my hands. 15:51

pullups really ugly.
There was a lot of 3 and 4 reps sets
not sure of time some where around 20 minutes most probably more.

Good work out: can be done anywhere and anytime. Doing the sets in a rythmic rest to workout improves time (10 pullups / 10 breaths to recuperate)

Comment #122 - Posted by: Eric at April 19, 2005 1:17 AM

Everytime you think you're not progressing, go back and read your old posts. I read my time from July on Angie and was amazed!! First off, I had to do 60 assisted pull ups and they took me over 22 min to complete. My total time back then was 47 minutes!!
Although I had to stop the PU's this time after 30, I was only about 3 minutes in when I pulled th plug and went on to push ups. Powered through the rest of the ol' girl and ended up with a time of 23:45. Add about 5 minutes to finish the pull ups and it's still a 19 minute improvement!!
I'm rather chuffed!

total workout took 37 minutes.

Comment #128 - Posted by: Patrick Walsh at April 19, 2005 7:24 PM

mini-angie:

25 pullups < 6 minutes using the assist machine with 40 lbs for first 6 and then 55# for the rest. Tried to mimic the momentum of unassited dh's.
(1 minute intermission to help a friend who left their water in the locker room and was walking on the treadmill. I'm a giver.)

25 pushups (no knees)
25 sit ups
25 squats

11:34 including intermission

Thankfully, my very slow time will be burried here at the bottom. Pulls were the sticking point, but much better than the last Angie (which was also my first WOD I believe).

Comment #132 - Posted by: Mike N at April 20, 2005 10:54 AM

Well, I guess that makes mine a very, very slow time.

15 min for pullups, 20x 5
10 min for pushups, 5x 10 and 10x 5
10 min for situps, 10x 10
2:38 for squats, 4x 25
