Jeez Wild Bill, have you learned nothing?

Don't use phrases like "that's all?" or "X is easy"...it leads to nothing but pain.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 1, 2005 7:21 PM

yay 5k I still have a few poounds to sweat off for Sunday's Judo tournament anyway.

Perfect Timing! I have a 5K run to compete in on Sunday.

I'll be doing whatever Jeff thinks up for us Brand X folks tomorrow.

Comment #8 - Posted by: LauraR at April 1, 2005 8:25 PM

Not for me. Did 20 miles today for marathon prep, so running tomorrow would be a bad idea! Will catch up on Sunday.

Will get my 5K in tomorrow in a lacrosse game. After last weekend, this will be my second game in 3 years. We'll see how the back holds up after today's thrashing.

Go Navy Lax!

Comment #15 - Posted by: DavidE at April 2, 2005 4:08 AM

Hello from St. Louis...I get to go to the Louisville vs. Illinois game today.

5K...18:46

According to the treadmill I used. I don't know a precise 5K course around here, so I just went with the tread for today. Can you say "boring"? I varied the grade from 1 to 3 for something of an interval effect, speed at a constant 10mph.

Comment #16 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 2, 2005 4:25 AM

And I'll second the "Go Navy LAX" sentiment. My brother is going to that game today.

Comment #17 - Posted by: Matt G. at April 2, 2005 4:26 AM

After yesterdays WO, I was glad to see todays.

What was the final solution to doing the proper "DB Burpie Hang Squat Clean Thruster"?

Comment #18 - Posted by: Wayne at April 2, 2005 5:45 AM

23 minutes at the trails in local park. Coulda been faster if it wasnt so windy and dusty.

46 minutes for the total 6 miles.

Comment #19 - Posted by: Tim jing at April 2, 2005 5:46 AM

25:09 - lousy time and feeling worse. Lots of gut pain before I started the run, more or less hobbled through it.

Comment #20 - Posted by: kelly moore at April 2, 2005 6:01 AM

Did this as an untimed recovery run. Haven't taken a day off from hard running since sunday, so I took it easy in the interest of not overtraining. Besides, it was hard enough in the monsoon rains that are coming down here.

Comment #21 - Posted by: JSP at April 2, 2005 6:42 AM

5k--22:49. Windy.

Rest day for me...5K will be on Tues....Burbee, hang squat thruster smoke me like cheap crack thing will be on Monday. I'm sure the Squad will send their sincere thanks. I'll let ya know.

HOOAH! Great pic. Teamwork at it's finest right there.

23:45:58 PR, that's three PR's in the last week (10k, Helen, and 5k)! And I thought I was slowing down. By the way yesterday's wod was insane.

Comment #32 - Posted by: Larry L. at April 2, 2005 9:28 AM

17.41 but it was very ,very tough and the last mile was never ending.Ran it on local school 400m track, the laps are tough when you are counting down. How the kenyans and Ethiopians run under 13.00 is unreal but I guess they cannot do many pull ups or dips....I hope anyway!

18+k skate ski with 840 ft elevation gain for time of 66:30.

A PR for me on this route. Conditions were fast in the shade and slow in the sun. I had a massive headache, stopped at the 7-11 on the way there and bought a packet of Advil. I would love to hit this route in fast conditions when I'm feeling good and get it in under an hour. Only 2-3 weeks left in this season so it might not happen this year.

DNF. I'm posting to note my wussitude so it doesn't happen again, and simply to note that with the 10K last weekend, I suffered MAJOR shin splints. I could have walked the whole thing, but decided I wasn't actually accomplishing anything, so I quit. Ugly four letter word.

21:32 as part of the 10k from last week (because I still can't run properly since I did my knee in).

Instead, I did a 5k cycle (stationery) today in 4:26 (PR). I felt good, so carried on (or rather, got carried away), to 10k (9:12) and then 20k (20:58) and then a marathon (26 miles) in just under 50 mins, and then carried on to 50km in 59:42.

I had to wring out my vest afterwards big-time!

They used to have this segment on Saturday Night Live where two of the cast went back and forth comparing "Don't you just hate it when....." and finish it off with some disturbing idea, like someone dragging their fingernails down a blackboard. Well, here's mine: Don't ya just hate it when you thought it was supposed to be a rest day and you find out you counted the days wrong? Yeah, and it's even worse when you find out at 7PM after eating Mexican and now you're guaranteed to hurl! (I can handle the hurling part, but the jalepenos are gonna be rough on the way back up)

Comment #55 - Posted by: Mike at April 2, 2005 4:23 PM

.....and now it started raining!

Comment #56 - Posted by: Mike at April 2, 2005 4:27 PM

Ran a loop through the neighborhood that my wife runs often. 39:11 for me, 39:38 for her. 12 minutes of running down the hill, then 27 minutes of the uphill "loop". Loads of fun. (Neighboorhood is at 6500' elevation.)

Comment #57 - Posted by: Steve S at April 2, 2005 4:32 PM

5k, 24:15. Still haven't done friday's WOD. My excuse friday was that I couldn't get to the gym. My excuse today was that I didn't have time. No excuse tomorrow. It sounds brutal; will certainly be interesting.

I did a workout Jeff had as one of the choices for today's class.

Pull up work: 2 P/U every minute on the minute. I used a stretch band assist and no jump. I did get a little help from the wall in front of me in the last few rounds.

Yay for the big dogs noticing my pull up improvements! *big grin*

Carlsbad 5K: 31:34 net time (electronic chip time). Just under a 10 minute mile (31:34/3.2mi). Official pace 10:10 by the gun.

Dang. I ran the first mile in 9:40.
Second mile finished at 19:28
Last mile killed me. Over 12 minutes to do that last one. Pukie was chasing me.

Flashes of CF class at the home stretch, with a guy hollering, "400 meters ladies, let's GO!" LOL.

I think I placed 207th in my age group 35-39. I'll get the results later off the web site.

A note for comparison, last time I was running 5 miles a day 3-4 days a week. This year, I have only been doing crossfit and have actually rarely even done the 5K's when posted. Improving my time by 2 minutes is pretty cool when you think about that.
