Five rounds, each for time of:
20 Pull-ups
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats

Rest precisely three minutes between each round. Post time for each of five rounds to comments.

I would have gone faster but my arms just refused to do more than 4-5 pushups or chinups in a row.

Sqauts and situps were relatively easy and I didn't feel gassed at all.

I did the time wrong. I just did them all together. Total time was 35:53

Todd, those are awesome times. Congratulations. My own strained effort was 3.16, 3.21, 4.08, 4.05, 4.18, breaking four of the situp sets and the last pullups. Still, the kind of WOD I like and am comfortable with.

Pull-ups only broken to improve grip (using door frame...no bar). Sit-ups unanchored...tough! Found a groove for unbroken squats, but it looks like it may have slowed me down.

Ran some trails in the park, then warmed up with 5 rounds of: samson, supermans, ring dips, HSPU.

WOD:
round 1 = 5:10
round 2 = 4:31
round 3 = 4:10

On wednesday I finally hit a squat of 320 a pr I have been trying for about a year (I hadn't trained the back squat until Josh started posting them in his workouts, thanks again for that Josh)

but now I have a serious pain in my lower back(not muscle sorness but more like a pull), but only when I arch it or twist just wrong. any ideas on how to fix it or what it is.

this is my first workout ala crossfit. started off w/ just what I needed. Took about an hour to feel normal again. averaged 3 and half min. per exercise. took 3 min rest between.. hit the wall on the 4th cycle but finished. will continue WOD for now on.

Pull-ups were briefly broken after round 3. Actually most of the exercises except for squats had deteriorated around that point. My 1st round time was faster and my 5th round time slower than my previous encounter with this one, but the average time was pretty consistent (.08 seconds slower, to be exact).

Question I have only been doing Crossfit for this week. Stumbled on the website on Saturday 03-12-04. Started Monday 3-14-05.
Does anyone out there do other workouts or does everyone do only the WOD.

Situps were full range with feet anchored - is this the best glute-ham situp sub? Pullups assisted at 28# (bw=126). Felt like I was lacking energy today which is likely attributable to non-Zone meals out with drinks the last two nights.

Ugh. After all the EXACT SAME EXERCISES I did for Chelsea yesterday (wish I could have taken a rest day, but this weekend will be workout-free, as most are 8-( ), I wasn't even sure I could finish with Babs.

As it was, I was assisted on all the pullups, and they were all broken sets. So were most of the pushups (broken). And the last two sets of squats. I am *dyin'* here!

But I finished everything - yay, me!

I think it looks like a hot tub kind of night once I get home...

This workout was right up my alley!! Working on keeping the heart rate up and not stopping. Kipping pullups are still inconsistent, tough to keep from swinging. Squats felt great until I got out of the shower!! I may have to start using an exercise ball for situps. Hip flexors are being overtaxed and taking away from the lower abs. What about janda situps? Anyone else doing them?

Usually I am humbled by the WOD somewhat. Today, I was crushed like a little schoolgirl and laughed at. This workout exploited my weaknesses. But I loved it! Pullups were dead-hang, no-kip with a jumpstretch band for assist. Decided not to do the jump assist and I think that made it harder, but great fun. Situps were flat on the floor, no feet anchor, with homemade ab mat.

Finished with 4.2 miles up and down a big hill. The marathon is 6 weeks from Sunday!

2 Workouts for me today. Barbara plus the "Fight on Friday" at CF HQ.
The morning's workout (as best I can describe it)
1. Warm up run
2. As a group of 4, pick up a log.
3. Do group exercises (presses, situps, etc) with said log.
4. Go for a run with the log.
5. Bagwork - thai kicks and elbows, interspersed with Burpees, jump squats, bear crawls and crab crawls (up and down stairs).

Log and I are one.

Bob Cornute - there isn't anything wrong with abs exercises that primarily work your hip flexors instead of the lower abs. But people do lots of different types of sit ups. If you want to isolate, try the ab mat!

Why does 3 minutes take so long at work, yet fly by today as if I never caught my breath? The situps really slowed me down. After about 100 days of Crossfit, I've identified weakness # 100.

i know i wont be able to do much at the gym tomorrow so im saving this one until then. instead, i did this:

for distance:
run 9:00

distance: a little less than 1/8mi short of 1.5mi (so ~1.4mi)...didnt feel outstanding on the run, especially the middle half mile, but im satisfied w/ my distance.

i think i might dig back a little for a WOD i missed and head to the gym later or at least do some ring work (including iron cross work, of course)

Managed two rounds before I was feeling that "about to upchuck" feeling in my stomach and mouth the room started spinning and the gremlin in my chest was trying to pound his way out. Coming back to this stuff after a month off for a back injury is tough.

Well, I'm afraid my time is pretty bad. I think I should have cut reps in half to keep the time down but the intensity was still pretty good so hey, at least I won't be able to move tomorrow. ;)

I was glad there wasn't a 6th round!
Situps were unanchored. Arms started crossed on chest but were soon everywhere.
All sets broken, and squats had some single-count pauses, too.

Got to do this one outside. 75 degF here in San Francisco with bright sunshine and a small breeze. Wow, nice day. Two or three days of this weather usually pulls the fog in hard for the next few days.

r - my back was killing me after the heavy DL day last week, just take it easy and give it a couple of days, things will heal

BobbyR - same here, didn't meet pukie, but his evil siamese twins blackie and outie were at my door

Rod Wright - some days I do just the WOD, some days I do a second workout, usually squadron PT in the mornings, just depends on the WOD and my timing

kevingp - I have the same prob on pulls, max out at about 13, same as before I started Crossfit about a month and a half ago, pretty frustrating

I just started with the CrossFit workouts a few weeks ago and I really enjoy the variety and overall training that they give me. I do have one question. When is the WOD for the next day posted? I have checked the website in the evening before going to bed and observed that it is not posted yet. I get up at 4am and it is sometimes inconvenient to fire up the computer that early. Other than that, great job.

This has been touched on many, many times. First of all...great job PERIOD by the CF staff, Coach and Lauren. "Other than that"? I don't think so.

If you look at the main page, you'll see that each WOD indicates the time at which it was posted. Typically it's around 7:30pm PST.

one suggestion ive heard for people across the lake is to just be one day behind, ie, each day do the WOD from the previous day. this way youll always know the WOD before you go to bed and youll even be able to mentally prepare all day for the next day's WOD.

Subbed sit-ups with Swiss Ball Crunches w/50# plate extended to ceiling (faster than sit-ups but more difficult exercise for me).

All sets unbroken accept the Crunches (last two rounds done in 2x20) and last set of push-ups done in 1x20 and 1x10.

Will go back to sit-ups next time because I at times found myself going so fast that I was bouncing off the swiss ball facilitating my work against resistance. Slowed down reps but had to concentrate to keep correct.

I've been doing handstands against walls pretty regularly for a few weeks, but I hadn't tried any freestanding handstands yet. After BJJ class I tried handstand walking after class. I walked about five feet each time, and I was really stoked I could actually balance like that for five feet! 100 step challenge here I come!

When I got home from BJJ class did some quick kettlebell practice:
3 towel pullups
5 knee raises supporting from rings
kettlebell snatch form practice with 36lb kb alternating arms for about five minutes.
Practiced cleaning my 62lb kettlebell, first with two hands, then with one.
Jerked the 62lb kb and walked around with it overhead. About 20 seconds each arm. Limiting factor was forearm pressure.
52lb kb one arm swings, practicing full hip snap and the wedge.
Wanted to see which was harder, hanging knee raises or knees to elbows, did 5 of each. K2Es harder.
Static holds like the top position of a one arm one leg pushup, 30 second holds each side.

First time for Barbara felt really good, but looking at some of the other times a lot of room for improvement. As per normal the chin ups were my downfall, I thought I was fairly strong untill I started the WOD!! Its is amazing how lifting your own bodyweight for reps is so hard.

My wife and I did Barbara together and what a threesome it was! My wife really impressed me, as this was her first WOD and the only mod she did was modified pull ups and she was really pushing me. I almost met pukie! Deb is a personal trainer with a 2nd degree black belt in TKD and a cardio kickbox instructor. I knew she was in great shape, but last night I was very suprised!


Don't have exact times for rounds but it totalled 22:27 of work time so we averaged just under 4:30 per round. I know the middle 3 rounds were faster than the first and the last.

Didn't get to do the WOD because of time constraints. I did make up a new exercise - it is called the "Apartment Walk"

Start at your car 100 yards from your destination, carry plates of weight any way you can with as much weight as you can, inbetween the car and your destination, you must have at least 8 doors (not including your car doors), at least 4 of the doors must require a key to open and there must be a glass sliding door, there also must be at least 2 flights of stairs, of course this is all one way.

Each trip I carried anywhere from 45 lbs to 60 lbs upstairs and on my way back I carried 25 lbs to 50lbs. Usually I was just griping the plates. Basically this whole thing started because I got my super cool BFS bumper plates and Oly bar (and I had to carry out my old weights). After my "Apartment Walk" warm up, I didn't have time to do this WOD so I practiced my OHS and did a lot of Snatches with just the bar.

I did this one a day late due to being on airplane most of yesterday. I'm now in lovely western North Carolina, and very glad to have a work out I can do with minimal equipment. Pulls were almost unbroken the first round, but the major limiting factor afterwards, so that explains the huge drop in times. Recovering from a real slack week due to the PFT I had Thursday (cut 40s off the 1.5 mile run time, maxed the push-ups and sit-ups. All with about 7 runs more than a mile this year. Thanks Crossfit!), and I think I'm getting round dos of the Dorm Plague that's been going around.

Been doing Crossfit for around a month and a half now. Always able to push myself hard. I'm not sure what I did wrong today. I warmed up for 5 minutes on the treadmill at 5 mph.

Round 1) 7 minutes, 30 seconds
Round 2) 10 minutes, 24 seconds

I was then visited by Pukie. I took a 9 minute break, but I could not shake the pukie feeling. I attempted Round 3, did 13 pullups, 10 pushups, and 10 squats, but then had to quit because of extreme nausea and feelings of impending pukie.
This was the first time this has happened to me, ever.
