Good, a rest day. My shoulders are killing me. I can't believe THE 7 MINUTE ROTATOR CUFF SOLUTION is selling for $125 on Ebay. Sick.

Comment #2 - Posted by: Jason Berger at March 1, 2005 8:58 PM

What a MAGNIFICENT photo! Very inspiring as well. Thanks for posting it!

The lengths that the "extreme sledding" crowd will go to for a thrill is beyond me.

Mike,

All photos on the site are of CrossFitters.

Comment #9 - Posted by: Coach at March 2, 2005 5:31 AM

Yay, a rest day. I started Crossfit this Monday and after two days I am sorer than I remember ever being while lifting weights in high school.

Crossfit rocks my socks off!

Didnt get the crazy Fran in yesterday so I'll hit that today. Was hoping for some hint on the comments from yesterday that we could switch back and forth between exercises when we broke them up, but looks like it's thrusters all the way through and then pulls. This is gonna take a while.

Comment #11 - Posted by: robp at March 2, 2005 5:45 AM

robp,

Read the latest Journal (I just got mine). Fran (and all its isomers) is completely dissected. Interesting analysis, and you'll see why we're doing different versions.

Comment #12 - Posted by: Will H at March 2, 2005 6:15 AM

Went to the park and did:

1 mile run, 15 pullups, 20 pushups, 25 squats,
1 mile, 30 pullups, 40 pushups, 50 squats,
1 mile, 45 pullups, 60 pushups, 75 squats.

Took about 40 minutes.

Comment #13 - Posted by: Nic Nakis at March 2, 2005 7:41 AM

To borrow from the Brits and other former Colonists: Yesterday, I was completely knackered! Great word, "knackered." So, I kipped on the sofa for a bit, supped, and watched TV.
Going to take on FrankenFran tonight and not looking forward to it.
BTW, CFJ Issue 31 is another example of why the subscription price is well worth it! Great issue once again!

Comment #14 - Posted by: Ron N. at March 2, 2005 8:18 AM

Awesome Photo!

Thank goodness, a rest day . . . .

Comment #15 - Posted by: Clay Jones at March 2, 2005 8:23 AM

Ron, I assume you don't know what sense of tired "knackered" refers to....heh heh!

Comment #16 - Posted by: Graham at March 2, 2005 8:27 AM

and in the same vein Ron.......i'm pretty partial to "bollocksed" as a description of tiredness..........HA HA!

Comment #17 - Posted by: karl at March 2, 2005 9:00 AM

Semple, your sick.
When did you climb Mr. A??

Trim the skins, first one side then the other... a little of each, going back and forth 3 -4 times, not just once on each side.

word.

HQ today for a mixed bag of drills.

Started with a 400m run (this acted as the "timer"). Rolled into some hula-hoop drills, box jumps, KB swings, abmat sit-ups, pull-ups.

Transitioned to DB drills in honor of RUTMAN. Did several one-handed drills--almost exclusively O/H work and snatches with reps ranging from 1 to 10 per side.

Finished with max pull-ups. I got 20. Brent Edwards got 30, and Annie S. got 40!

Beautiful photo on the site today.

Comment #19 - Posted by: Thompson at March 2, 2005 9:24 AM

Finally caught up
Yesterday's Fran was 30 secs.slower than last week's
Time was 4:40
95 lb.thrusters 25/7/6/4/3
pull ups 25/8/5/4/3/
pulse was 152 @ time of completion
2 people at the gym asked if I was going to be OK
I laughed and told them this look was normal after one of these workouts.

Learn something new every day. I hadn't thought about the sub-meanings "knackered" might have, but I think I have an idea now... ;-)

And I think I also like the term "bollocksed" - yes, I (a Yank) do use that 'B' word sometimes, as well as the one that starts with "bug..." Heh. Nice shorthand way to say "Oh, &*(*$&^!, I am #()*$&*(ing WIPED after that workout!"

Speaking of which, I caught up with mega-Fran today, or she caught up with me.
45-lb DB thrusters, varying degrees of assist on most of the pullups (jumping, using the Gravitron with some weight, kipping, whatever it took), everything broken into sets of 15-10-lots of little bits, but I finished all reps!

My last four pullups got some odd looks, they were all: big kip up, gasp down, drop, pant-pant-gasp, "okayjust3more", deep breath, (repeat) 8-)

Anyway, 8:09, almost a minute slower than fractured Fran. Now I have to go get the journal and read all about why it's slower!

Laters,
ND

Beautiful!

Was that photo taken from a chopper?

Comment #22 - Posted by: Ross Hunt at March 2, 2005 11:27 AM

I mean, a helicopter...

Comment #23 - Posted by: Ross Hunt at March 2, 2005 11:27 AM

I couldn't work out yesterday so I did yesterday's - today.

I did the thrusters with 25 lbs d-bells and the pull-ups were all broken up.
16 minutes

Comment #24 - Posted by: Jim N at March 2, 2005 12:01 PM

Thanks for the lead, Will.

Finished yesterday's "Fran" today in 26:32

Warmed up w/ sqdrn PT: 400m, 20 push, 20 sit, repeat 6 times

Thrusters: 10/7/5/5/7/5/4/2

PUs:10/7/5/4/5/5/3/3/3

Hey, coach! Can you cut us some slack on a package deal for all the back orders of the Journal?

Comment #25 - Posted by: robp at March 2, 2005 12:14 PM

In case y'all come back to read the comments, I suggest posting your WOD results on the day of the WOD, not the day you do them. That way, when, for example, we next do Fat Fran and you want to know what you did, you'll be able to look at the Fat Fran link that Lauren usually kindly provides us, and see what you did. If you post it one or two or threee or...days later, you won't remember, and you won't have the reference. Just MNSHO... ;^)

Platoon PT this morning ...

5 rounds for time of:

9 barbell snatches
9 KTEs

Weight for the snatches varied from just the bar (45 lbs) to 95 lbs. This was a very deceiving workout and the troops underestimated it, which was fun to watch . One Marine met Pukie for the first time.

Errr!

Comment #27 - Posted by: Mulcahy at March 2, 2005 1:40 PM

ran 3mi today in ~24min. really tried to strike between mid-foot and the ball of my foot as opposed to my usual heel strike. my calves are sore as hell, but i think this is a much more efficient way to run once they adjust. oh yeah, and i tried to "push the T" (as they say in swimming), where the T is basically shoulder to shoulder and down the abdomen.

Coach, as a CFer interested in a ton of back issues, i second Rob P's question.

Comment #28 - Posted by: ediddy at March 2, 2005 2:15 PM

Did a pullup, dip, pushup, situp pyramid this morning. Up to ten and back, with multiples being 1x pullups, 2x dips, 5x pushups, 5x situps. Total of 100 pulls, 200 dips, 500 pushups, 500 situps. Needed to make up for being sick.

I had the pleasure of meeting Eva T. today in sydney.
It is great to meet people who know what they are talking about, have great passion for fitness and other peoples health and are also willing to spend their time talking to you and sharing their knowledge.

I learnt alot today about crossfit and general health and fitness. Also very comforting to know how professional the Crossfit staff and trainers are.

Thanks for your time today Eva, hope you have a safe flight home.

Rest day whats that? had to catch up some OL training.

Snatches: worked up to 110k of 1SN+7OHS for 3sets, BW 115lb

CJ: worked up to singles: 108, 118, 128, 128lbs

Clean Pulls: 158x3, 168x3, 178x3-2sets

BS: heaviest sets: 148lbs 4x4

Comment #31 - Posted by: Veronica at March 2, 2005 8:43 PM

Rest day:

4x115# OHS... SO close to getting 5 reps (lost it on the way up from #5). BW of 165 leaves me a LONG way to go on the challenge

Handstand Walk - 35'6" New PR. I always seem to do well on these after I go heavy (for me) on OHS

Followed by some l-sit work and pistols.

Comment #32 - Posted by: Chris Forbis at March 3, 2005 5:01 AM

Veronica, you did 242 lb (110 k) snatches/ OHS????
YIKES!
