Man, my legs are pretty lit up from yesterday.

Like a Christmas tree, Matt G.

Didn't do the WOD yesterday, just did rolling on the mats. Hadn't done that in a couple of years. My whole body is lit up. I feel like a train wreck.

Honestly, I love feeling like this...must be the masochist in me. It let's me know I was working hard. And pushing back through it isn't a problem, so it's really no big deal in terms of impact.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Matt G. at December 28, 2004 7:53 AM

I've got to agree. My legs are still toast, but I just love it. It feels bad and good at the same time (a variation, I guess, on the "it doesn't have to be fun to be fun" motto).

1st rest day on Crossfit.

Very sore as well.

Wonder how much I will recover by tomorrow.

Comment #6 - Posted by: B Glass at December 28, 2004 8:51 AM

So sore from yesterday, but I'm still not resting. Hitting the pool later and probably a run, not sure on the distance yet, my legs will probably be the determining factor on that.

Comment #7 - Posted by: BrianC at December 28, 2004 9:01 AM

I would never have done yesterdays WOD on my own. I would have done the run or the squats but I would not have put them together. I am glad today is a rest day.

www.brutaltraining.com does have similar workout combinations in their "BUILDING THE BEAST" section titled "Does it get an easier?" this month.

had to walk 4 miles this morning..
weather is excellent. Nothing like single digit temps. Gonna work on hspu a little

I have been doing the WOD for a week now. I am doing last weeks workouts so I always know what is coming up.

I had fooled myself during the first week into believing I was in decent shape. I was able to complete almost all of the works outs as prescribed....until today's (last tuesday's).

I finished but met pukie right after my third round...awesome! I like it, I love it, I can't get enough of it...

Legs very sore from yesterday.Drinking a glass of Belgian beer at the moment(Kasteelbier-11%).After a bottle of this distance lends enchantment and I have fond memories of yesterdays workout....

Xfit warmup x 3
95lb Tabata Front Squat (scored 7)
7 rounds Bas Rutten Fighting CD.

Bas Rutten is an MMA icon. Made CD's of him yelling Kick/Knee/Punch combinations and different exercises (push ups, situps, jumpsquats). Can be performed shadow boxing, with a heavy bag, or a partner. Don't have to have any experience to benefit from it. Comes with an instructional DVD. Especially great on the road.

Comment #15 - Posted by: grady mac at December 28, 2004 2:18 PM

Yup Grady...I've got the Bas tapes/DVDs. I was introduced to them in Krav training.

Comment #18 - Posted by: las at December 28, 2004 5:38 PM

Does anyone know what a respectable weight for the clean/jerk; deadlift; and squat for 3-5 reps for a 190lb man would be? Just trying to judge my strength?

thanks

Guy-

I like your style. Wish I had some sweet Belgian beer. Every hour my legs get more sore.

Comment #20 - Posted by: Will H at December 28, 2004 6:00 PM

John P and James O, I checked out the brutaltraining site and it appears to be a load of crapola. My BS detector always goes up when I sense a pretentiousness in someone's way of writing or speaking and it was there in loads. In addition, they mention many out of the ordinary nutritional philosophies that tend to go along the line of "worldwide conspiracy to keep these little known nutritional marvels secret that will cure cancer, make you unbreakable and solve world peace". 5 minutes of research reveals the blatant hoaxes they entail. Crossfit is the solid deal, brutaltraining is a perfect example of everything that crossfit is not, and what is 99% of the internet.

Comment #21 - Posted by: Mark at December 28, 2004 8:48 PM

We've been using the Bas tapes for a couple of years. Try alternating 30 seconds of thrusters during the 1 minute rest between rounds. Use pull ups, overhead squats and burpees as well.

Comment #22 - Posted by: Jeff at December 28, 2004 8:49 PM

Ahhh...WOD withdrawl.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Matt G. at December 29, 2004 2:56 AM

No WOD yet, so I started with a run-swim-run:
3 mile run - 1.5 mile swim - 3 mile run
1:22:31.46

WOD and a weightlifting session to go...
