Well, this is going to be horrifically painful. But then that's why I keep coming back here.

Did the sets of squats in sets of 50. My thighs were smoked!

Comment #4 - Posted by: Mark Medlin at December 27, 2004 4:07 AM

This makes sense, because the wod's with 250 squats were just getting soooooo easy. I'm going to rent a wheelchair for tomorrow.

WOD was #2 on the day. Off to the pool later for about 3500m. I'll be rolling back into the gym on my Rascal scooter, just like George Costanza.

Comment #6 - Posted by: Matt G. at December 27, 2004 6:21 AM

Am I doing these squats with bodywieght or what?

Comment #7 - Posted by: Abe at December 27, 2004 6:35 AM

not to be picky...but shouldn't the workout # end in 27 rather than 17?...had to double check Dec. 17th to see if it was a repeat...please bear with me...new to this....amazing system!

Comment #8 - Posted by: Tim F at December 27, 2004 6:36 AM

Matt G-

I'll rent a scooter too and then we can race. Will you give me a head start?

Comment #9 - Posted by: Fred at December 27, 2004 6:38 AM

Abe

Squats are bodyweight unless specified.

I lucked out by having a warm morning to go to the track, 35F. No breaks in squats, transitioning to run is tough

4th WOD

First set of squats done 50/50. After that, had to go to sets of 25. Dragged myself home. I'm gonna pass out now.

Comment #15 - Posted by: B Glass at December 27, 2004 8:24 AM

24.50, the usual slowpoke on the runs. A great day to be alive and doing Crossfit!

Comment #16 - Posted by: adam at December 27, 2004 8:36 AM

ChadO,

You can find the girls on Lynne Pitts Official Crossfit Faqs at: http://www.mitymous.net/weights/xfitfaq.htm

(Lynne - maybe we should add the new girls to the FAQ???)

They were also in the November 2004 where they introduce the new Girls. The September 2003, where the first Girls were introduced is still worth getting because it has some interesting stuff on what the differences between them are.

Comment #21 - Posted by: beth at December 27, 2004 9:25 AM

The WOD won this battle. I only did two sets.

Time: 17:01; squats were broken sets.

I started the first run at a 6 minute mile pace and ended the last run at an 8 minute mile pace. Legs are trashed! This one was great fun.

Comment #27 - Posted by: Rajesh at December 27, 2004 10:51 AM

26:30, including about 2 minutes of waiting for a *@#! treadmill. It was raining too hard for my sick self to go outside and do it, so I was stuck on the belt with all the other hamsters.

My quads are jello! With fruit and marshmellows inside!

Comment #33 - Posted by: Sam L at December 27, 2004 11:39 AM

So, I'm at my uncle's in Massacheusetts still, and we had a big nor'easter roll through yesterday. Snow was too thick to run today, so I made something up:

Warmed up with 5x samson stretch

Did as many rounds possible in twenty minutes of:
10x OHS w/ broomstick
10x situps
10x laying GH raises
10x doorframe pullups
10x chair dips

(did 10 rounds in 21 minutes)

Then cooled down with some handstand drills and HSPU.

My dog completed 2 1/2 laps; he still refuses to do the squats.

Comment #35 - Posted by: Mike A. at December 27, 2004 11:48 AM

Actually, I find it easy to get my dog to squat, and even to burpees. "Sit, Stand, Sit, Stand" or "Sit, Down, Jump! - Down, Jump!"

Comment #36 - Posted by: lauren at December 27, 2004 11:57 AM

Taking advice to "go thru the motions" the first month. I divided the WOD by 4 to get 200m run/25 squats. Did warmup minus squats.

10:55 AVERAGE HR 88% Thought I'd add rounds if I did it too quick but I was quickly wiped out and a little ill. Will back off intensity a little.

Comment #37 - Posted by: tlecroix at December 27, 2004 12:07 PM

re: dog squats
Maybe its the location. All the neighborhood dogs like to squat in my yard. or so it seems.

Comment #38 - Posted by: tlecroix at December 27, 2004 12:11 PM

9th day for crossfit WOD.

You guys are animals...nice times

think the WOD should have been edited to:
800 meter run, 100 squats for 3 sets.
pull yourself to the computer without use of legs (because they dont work). Post times (in between heartbeats.

time: 2 (beat)5 (beat):0 (beat) 0 (beat) 25:00

thanks for the websit....

Comment #39 - Posted by: Robert J. at December 27, 2004 12:11 PM

It was pouring up here. I waited hoping it would clear enough to run. It didn't. Subbed rowing 800 meters for the run. total time = 29.45

Comment #40 - Posted by: beth at December 27, 2004 12:40 PM

When I got home one of my daughters said"Whats the matter with Daddy"
My wifes reply was along the lines of "if you end up like this whats the point of doing it"

Too tired to reply.

Comment #41 - Posted by: guy at December 27, 2004 12:42 PM

Man did I guess wrong yesterday or what..being out of reception range with my smartphone and no computer I decided to do 4 tabata squat versions: overhead, thruster, bottom-bottom and regular
So I read this morning 300 squats!
Got through them in 25 min despite a knee and lower back revolt.
Ended with 220's alternated with 25 squats.

Comment #42 - Posted by: timM at December 27, 2004 12:57 PM

As rx'd 800m runs/100 squats at Liberty Park trail. Had to break the squats up (of course).
Went ice climbing this morning, but after 3 pitches it got too warm and rocks and ice were falling from everywhere, we turned tail and ran away.

Comment #48 - Posted by: Jim Howe at December 27, 2004 2:30 PM

Guy,
That's hilarious! I even getthose comments from my climbing buddies. And I do have to laugh at myself while I'm hobbling around.

There's a line in a song by the Queens of the Stone Age that says "I want something good to die for to make it beautiful to live." During the final set of squats, while racing to finish in under twenty minutes, that made a lot of sense.

Uh-oh, I'm starting wax poetic. I'll stop.

Secret Service Snatch Test:
Number of one armed kettlebell snatches in 10 minutes, alternating arms whenever.

I did 159 snatches with a 36lb kettlebell. I did all snatches over the top style (not GS style) and really enjoyed how much it fried my grip.

Warmed up with PVC pipe Oly drills and med ball cleans. Finished up with overhead squats with a bungee cord.

Comment #66 - Posted by: Josh Hillis at December 27, 2004 6:34 PM

modified cf warmup
21:46 runs were .5 on treadmill.
as one of my workout partners used to say "i'm so healthy i can't walk!"
cooldown with handstand practice and shoulder stuff.

Comment #67 - Posted by: kls at December 27, 2004 6:35 PM

Squad pt this morning. tire throw (100yrds), farmer walk (50lb. DB), push press (65lbs BB), burpees, squats, sandbag side-to-side loading, bear crawl (100yrds) RAM curls(40lbs) all events were timed off the tire throw. After pt we did a lightning round for 30 sec at each station. Followed by hill sprints and 100 squats X3. I relize this maybe speradic.

Josh, I know what that's like man. You have a tough road ahead of you. Start pounding the vitamins and don't eat too much. It took me a long time to fully recover from that school.

Oh, and RANGER'S LEAD THE WAY!!!

Good heavens this was tough, and I substituted 3:30 minutes on the air-dyne bike for the runs. I can't run in the cold air, it messes with my lungs.

Squats went, 34/33/33, 25/25/25/25, 20/20/20/20/20

Comment #75 - Posted by: Phil Feairheller at December 28, 2004 3:44 AM

~27:00 (I mistakenly stopped the timer @ 21:30 before the final 100 squats).

All squats were broken (no sets lower than 10 at a time) - but all were A2A.

Convinced my girlfriend to do this (she's a middle distance runner) - she smoked me on this one (21:30) - which is probably good as I'll likely be able to convince her to do more crossfit!

Comment #76 - Posted by: Patrick at December 28, 2004 8:11 AM

31:07. I was 20 squats shy of my 30 min goal. It took awhile to recover and do those last 20 squats! All squat sets broken in sets no less than 20. I can tell I need a rest day...

Should have been well under 30 min!!!!!!!
Arrrgh!

Comment #89 - Posted by: Ron N. at December 28, 2004 1:46 PM

Laurar, lol, I've had that "problem" before, too.

Ron, I checked back at your times a few days ago. You did more runs and 250 weighted thrusters in only 3 minutes less. I find that interesting because I find thrusters a LOT easier than just squats (as they're essentially a weighted squat and a pushpress and you need to clean the weight before starting!).

Comment #90 - Posted by: Paul Theodorescu at December 28, 2004 1:52 PM

started with recon rons pull-up routine, (garenteed to up your pull-up) lol it works though also did 5 rounds max sets on bar dips

I looked at my splits; my latter 2 rounds were almost *exactly* the same, the 3rd 800m being only 2 seconds slower than the 2nd.

2nd and 3rd sets were way slower than the 1st set, the 800m being the major culprit.
