eric - you pick the weight anytime it says "post load" and no weight/weight range is given. as much as you can handle to get it done.

Body WT DLs + Ring dips @ 18:29
after the 1st set the dips ate up most of my time & were in splits of 10s & 5s
I may just stick to 150# DLs for high reps as that # is a lot less stressful on my knees

I see a lot of people posting "Assisted Dips". What are they? Are they just dips on the Gravitron machine?

Comment #14 - Posted by: Troy at November 13, 2004 11:46 AM

Troy -
Gravitron, toes on chair, bands and spotter assist. Sometimes I use all of those at the same time. *grin*

Comment #15 - Posted by: Ambient at November 13, 2004 12:01 PM

Pretty Smooth Workout

For first three rounds dips done all 30 at a time, after that broken into 20-10.

Weight was 100 advancing to 130. Never done deadlifts before and it was hurting so I'm proud.

One week on Crossfit down!

Comment #16 - Posted by: Steve at November 13, 2004 1:12 PM

100 lb deadlift
pushups instead 0f dips

Comment #19 - Posted by: Carol at November 13, 2004 2:08 PM

Back from a week out sick. Did Linda (3 bars of pain) instead. Tried to post scores to that day, but they've passed into the archive. Posting here will let me search later.
DL 225 LBs
Bench 155 KBs
Cleans 135 LBs
42:00 minutes

Comment #20 - Posted by: MikeY at November 13, 2004 2:15 PM

overtraining be damned, I went to bed at 2am, woke at 7, 8, 9, and 11:30 before breakfasting on surprise merengue cookies and a protein shake (with some fat before the cookies). Felt like crap until after the WOD. Tomorrow will be a good rest day, I'm meeting a gymnastics coach to arrange some private lessons for myself. Pity there are no adult training sessions in Cincinnati.

14:10
DLed BW (155#)
dips assisted with 40# subtraction

followed with weighted pullups: 3x3@35, 3x3@25
practiced various kicks for warmup

Comment #21 - Posted by: Ben K at November 13, 2004 3:25 PM

275lb DL
14:55 minutes

Comment #22 - Posted by: Steve M at November 13, 2004 3:28 PM

26 min.
BW = 162 lb.
Deadlift was 135 lb.
Did pulldowns on a machine, only used 35 - 45 lb.
(still having trouble with a pec muscle, which warns me not to do dips)

Comment #23 - Posted by: Rene' at November 13, 2004 3:29 PM

Did this one in crossfit 'strength training' style:
Did 30 min of as many rounds as I could of 5 deadlifts@ 275 (I'm 200) / 5weighted dips (w/60 pds).
I do this about once a week.
Does this violate crossfit principles?
My respiratory rate says no!

Comment #24 - Posted by: tim at November 13, 2004 4:15 PM

10:41.96

DLs @ 205 (bodyweight 165lb. this morning). Did the last 5 reps of each Dip set ballistic-style...that is, I "launched" on the concentric phase and got air off the bars, then caught the bars on the way down. Rinse and repeat.

Comment #25 - Posted by: Matt G. at November 13, 2004 4:20 PM

I really didn't want to work out today - the DOMS from the past two workouts is killing me. I missed the gym (closes at 6), but I did it anyway (thanks AMR!). I used kitty litter for the DLs (34lbs), and chair dips... but it worked, I'm wiped!
26:40

Comment #26 - Posted by: efk at November 13, 2004 4:25 PM

Weak and slow today. Sure broke a good sweat, though.
25:21 225# DL, 275# dips

Comment #27 - Posted by: Ambient at November 13, 2004 4:33 PM

BW 169
DL 185
Time: 22:15

Comparing that I was tired, hungry, sore and had the worst day at work EVER I felt I did pretty good. I'm sure Monday's workout will bring me down from my little high though.

Comment #28 - Posted by: Troy at November 13, 2004 5:36 PM

started out w/ a run workout:
800m jog warmup
4x800m - 400 sprint(1:21/1:25/1:21/1:23), 400 jog/walk
3x400m - 200 sprint(:35/:34/:35), 200 jog/walk
400m cooldown

that was a good workout in itself...and then i did the wod as follows:

DL: 135# unbroken (after the runs, legs were tired and i still suck at these)
Dips: broken into 2 sets for 1st 3 then 3 sets for last 2

Comment #29 - Posted by: ediddy at November 13, 2004 6:09 PM

205 lbs. for the deadlifts.
Used the gravitron for sets 3-5.
20:56 with only 2:00 of it spent on deadlifts.

Heart pounding hard immediately (1st round), got a bit dizzy a couple of times.... this blood pressure medicine may be doing me in. But I have been missing a lot of training days after my break.

Comment #36 - Posted by: jmon at November 13, 2004 8:19 PM

Day 6 of self-imposed exile. Some call it a rest week.
DL's are what brought me to this point. Glad I took a pass.
Legs hurt from yesterday's thrusters (wall ball in disguise).
Tomorrow is another day!

Comment #37 - Posted by: Ron N. at November 13, 2004 9:50 PM

22 minutes, 205# DL & assisted dips

Comment #38 - Posted by: Sam L at November 13, 2004 10:31 PM

18:17

Could have gone heavier on DL, but like I was sacrificing form by allowing my back to round.

DL: 205-185-135-135-135
Hoist gravitron assisted dips: #8-8-9-10-10

Comment #39 - Posted by: Scott Arnold at November 14, 2004 3:39 AM

Comment #43 - Posted by: Ed Velasco at November 14, 2004 10:02 AM

oh my lord!
That was AWESOME!

14:42

5 rounds:
DL 85# x 10
(that was PERFECT weight. I could BARELY do 10 at first and had to break up the last set 7/3)

Bench dips x 30
no dip contraption at the home gym. Freakin' KILLER!

Comment #44 - Posted by: laurar at November 14, 2004 11:19 AM

OH yeah - dips broken into sets of ten unless I was feeling perky then I did 15 or 13 before breaking it up. ;P

Comment #45 - Posted by: laurar at November 14, 2004 11:20 AM

Comment #46 - Posted by: george at November 14, 2004 3:14 PM

DL: 225#

Time: 17:45

Comment #47 - Posted by: Taha at November 14, 2004 4:41 PM

Did it this morning with my trap bar. I prefer the TBDL because it is more biomechanically suited to my tall (1.88m. i.e. 6"2)build. Anyway it was a tuff w/o. The deadlifts were done this way: set #1: 10 straight, sets 2-4: 2x5, set 5: 10 rest pause style. All with bodyweight (85kg.) on the bar. The dips were done incrementally on all sets. My time:36:24. Do I get an age discount (nearly 51)?

My first post to Crossfit. I thought I was in pretty good shape. Ha!

set 1:
DL - 135# 10reps
Dips - 22, 8(30 second rest)

set 2:
135# 10reps
15, 7, 6, 2(30 second rests)

set 3:
135# 10reps
6, 6, 6, 6, 6(30 second rest)

set 4:
135# 10reps
6, 6, 6, 2, failure(30 second rest)

set 5:
135# 10reps
6, 4, failure(30 second rest)

22 minutes. Ran out of lunchtime.

Comment #50 - Posted by: patch at November 15, 2004 11:35 AM

I ended up doing this today - Monday.

22 minutes.
5 x 10 @ 135 for deadlifts
3 x 30, 2 x15 - dips. I just couldn't do another dip.

Comment #51 - Posted by: Jim N at November 15, 2004 12:07 PM

12:23 as RXed. Used BW+5 = 135 for DLs. Dips started breaking on the third set.

Comment #52 - Posted by: Adam McClure at November 15, 2004 2:43 PM

Used #275 for 18:53
had to sub 50 pushups for the dips. Hip flexors are pretty sore need to stretch out more. Had broken sets on the deads after the first two rounds.

Comment #53 - Posted by: Jason E at November 15, 2004 4:08 PM

Deadlifts were hard, dips kicked my butt and humbled me.
deadlift: 275 x 10 for all 5 sets
dips: parallel bars 1x20,10; 1x10,7,5,4,4;
1x8,7,5,4,3,3 (hit the wall)
bench dips: 1x15,10,5; 1x15,8,7
Time: 18:21

Comment #54 - Posted by: Ben at November 15, 2004 5:08 PM

BW - 185
DL - 225
Time: 15:15 (I was interrupted by people working in on my dips too)
Dips were my undoing...the first set went well, but it went downhill fast from there.

Comment #55 - Posted by: Scott Kustes at November 16, 2004 7:53 PM

35:05

BW: 150#
DL: 205#
Ring Dips

I loaded up the bar with 225# to start with, but I felt tired and didn't want to risk poor form. Did the 205# in mini-sets of 5 w/ only a re-grip in between.

The ring dips kill me every time. I did these in mini-sets of 5 with ever increasing breaks in between. My shoulders and pecs will scream at me for days now.

Comment #56 - Posted by: Pat at November 16, 2004 11:06 PM

5 rounds of:
Sumo deadlift, 10 reps with 135lbs
