Okay I am in on the challenge. I current cannot walk at all on my hands, so going anywhere is going to be a great gain.

Comment #1 - Posted by: Michael P at September 14, 2004 10:44 PM

OK sign me up !

Comment #2 - Posted by: Dave K at September 15, 2004 4:19 AM

I'm up for the hand-walking challenge. I'm still working on the pullup bit as well...I got a late start.

Comment #3 - Posted by: Matt G. at September 15, 2004 4:35 AM

I'm in for the 100'. My PR is 6' currently, so I only have one basketball court length to go!

Comment #4 - Posted by: Chris Forbis at September 15, 2004 4:53 AM

I'm in. I can get about 10' on a good day, so I'm 10% of the way there.

Comment #5 - Posted by: Eric2 at September 15, 2004 4:59 AM

I'm in.

Comment #6 - Posted by: KevinA at September 15, 2004 5:11 AM

Count me in.

Comment #7 - Posted by: Bob C. at September 15, 2004 6:29 AM

Put me down for 100'.

Comment #8 - Posted by: Dan Murphy at September 15, 2004 8:06 AM

I can't get away from a wall stand for anything, let alone walking. You guys are leaving me in the dust. Anyway, rowed 5k today, 23.43.

Comment #9 - Posted by: adam at September 15, 2004 8:07 AM

Why not. See you at the 100' mark.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Mike Y at September 15, 2004 8:22 AM

i'm in for 100'.

Comment #11 - Posted by: JC at September 15, 2004 8:34 AM

Only through adversity can we expect to achieve. I know someone smater than me said it; just don't know whom that someone is.
I'm in and I can't even get the handstand going. . .yet.
Thanks for the advice Ross!

Comment #12 - Posted by: Ron N. at September 15, 2004 8:43 AM

I still can't take more than a step or two from a wall - I'll give it a go if I can ever find a way of getting past getting sick when I fall/roll out of a handstand. Does the challenge include pressing to the handstand? Practiced trying to press into the handstand with no luck - I seems my behind definitely prefers being on the ground.

Just a little workout this morning to push me along to my other year end goals of a one arm pullup, 50 consecutive pullups and a thirty second straddle planche:

3x1 assisted one arm pullups on rings using a pinch grip just above working elbow as assist. Before doing these, I attempted a one arm pullup to create a "benchmark" for myself - I was able to pull to nearly the half way point. Just another long half to go...

1x10 second lockon per arm on the rings (elbows too sore from yesterday's rope climb to do more)

25 strict single point suspended close parrallel grip pullups (had to break at 17 due to excessive swinging)

1x10 second straddle planche on parallettes

Comment #13 - Posted by: kelly moore at September 15, 2004 8:57 AM

I'll do the 100'. I'll also try to match Rob's/Kevin's idea of handwalking up 5 steps.

Comment #14 - Posted by: Ryan Atkins at September 15, 2004 9:07 AM

I'm in on this one. I am kicking myself now for not entering the pulups challenge. At least I can do a pullup. I currently cannot walk on my hands at all any movement is a 100% improvement.

Comment #15 - Posted by: Jeff at September 15, 2004 9:20 AM

how did those guys do so many pullups? I've asked this question a couple of times but nobody has answered. I've heard of armstrong program but do you guys do something else?

Comment #16 - Posted by: Stan at September 15, 2004 9:34 AM

I currently can only hold a handstand for a second or two away from the wall before I wipe... but it sounds like a good challenge.

Sign me up!

Comment #17 - Posted by: brendan at September 15, 2004 9:38 AM

You hit 50 already Kelly!! Amazing

Well I'm not much of handstand walker, but I'll go down to the track tomorrow to see how I'm doing. Sign me up for 100ft too!

Stan the big secret everyone is quickly starting to realise is that Crossfit+X=Success, when X = pullups, you will get many pull ups. No programs nessecary just regular practice. Really I'm not kidding you, it's simple but not easy;)

Comment #18 - Posted by: Graham at September 15, 2004 9:57 AM

Oh no Kelly, that's your goal. *Ahem*

Comment #19 - Posted by: Graham at September 15, 2004 9:58 AM

Might as well...

Comment #20 - Posted by: Mike J at September 15, 2004 9:59 AM

Sounds like fun!

Comment #21 - Posted by: Rob at September 15, 2004 10:48 AM

I wanna play, too. 100 ft by year's end.

Mike

Comment #22 - Posted by: Mike Minium at September 15, 2004 10:49 AM

I'm in. 100 feet.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Ambient at September 15, 2004 11:03 AM

You guys are all animals. Even thinking about this challange stimulates me to keep on with this program. I'll start trying the hand stand walk ASAP.

Jim H. I'll catch you at your place in Salt Lake on Friday to blast this out.
I'll try and get AJQ as well, late.
FYI- In 1 month strength gains noticable.
Thanks X-fit

Comment #24 - Posted by: Eric at September 15, 2004 11:04 AM

I don't post very often but do crossfit almost religously, I'm in on this for sure. Although as of right now I can barely hold my balance but this will be some great motivation!

Comment #25 - Posted by: Mike Powell at September 15, 2004 11:27 AM

"Barbara" with no rest:
Five rounds for time:
20 Pull-ups (all palms out)
30 Push-ups (on dumbell parallelettes)
40 Sit-ups (anchored on incline board, half-max incline)
50 Squats

TOTAL TIME= 41:02 (+2:29 from 3/20/04)
[6:38/7:48/8:39/9:07/8:49]

Pretty happy with the time considering it was the day following the bench/pull-up WOD. Chose to do the push-ups on paralleletees to get more range of motion; also tends to keep my shoulder/elbows in proper form.

Comment #26 - Posted by: jdg at September 15, 2004 12:12 PM

Count me in. Like many others, I currently cannot walk on my hands at all. Time to stop being a turd and dive in.

Comment #27 - Posted by: Murph at September 15, 2004 12:13 PM

Count me in. I can do about 15 ft. and getting more and more comfortable. Couldn't even think about doing a wall-assisted handstand let alone handwalking a year ago. I am still far behind on the pullups though.

Comment #28 - Posted by: George Koupatadze at September 15, 2004 12:29 PM

100 ft., that is it??? Put me down, currently I'm at the two inch mark and falling.

Comment #29 - Posted by: sean at September 15, 2004 12:32 PM

Jon,
You forgot to say you were taking the challenge when you posted your time today. Must be an oversite.
J

Comment #30 - Posted by: Jeff at September 15, 2004 12:39 PM

Iam in for the 100' foot handstand walk.

Comment #31 - Posted by: PHIL at September 15, 2004 12:43 PM

I tested myself after my basketball game at lunch and I managed 17 feet. 100 feet is crazy, but I'm in anyway.

Comment #32 - Posted by: KevinA at September 15, 2004 1:16 PM

how do you guys work these challenges into the WODs? Rest days? Seems like you would be overtraining.

Comment #33 - Posted by: Stan at September 15, 2004 2:01 PM

Hi i'm new to crossfit, but familiar to kettlebells and the powerlifts. This is exactly what i've been looking for! One question: it seems that world class coaching llc's website is either down or non-existent at the moment.....can anyone confirm this?
thanks,
Jonathan

Comment #34 - Posted by: Jonathan at September 15, 2004 2:17 PM

I'm in for this as well. I'm also going along with Kelly and trying for a one armed pullup before the end of the year.

Comment #35 - Posted by: Dustin at September 15, 2004 2:32 PM

I'm in for a straight arm press to handstand walk 100' with two 180 deg. turns. Gotta do this inside.

Stan: I posted my program in the pullup challange thread. Basically, the CF wod as written with extra work in pullups for warmup. dialed in nutrition, lost 18 pounds.

Comment #36 - Posted by: Larry Lindenman at September 15, 2004 2:59 PM

I'm in - though I was shooting for 25 you all just pushed me to push myself. ;)

Comment #37 - Posted by: Beth at September 15, 2004 3:02 PM

I'm in.

I was going to go in for 50, but if 100 is the deal, 100 it is!

My basketball court floor and I are going to become very good friends. I too am working on 1-arm chins, but not by '05.

Comment #38 - Posted by: Ross Hunt at September 15, 2004 4:28 PM

Jonathon,
World Class Coaching LLC's website is no longer. You can order their two videos from
http://www.crainsmuscleworld.com/specialtyvideos.html
They are called "World's most powerful lift" and "World's fastest lift." Actually, I think you have to call them 800-272-0051 to order.

Comment #39 - Posted by: Tony B. at September 15, 2004 5:51 PM

Count me in.

This is one challenge I can guarantee by '05

Comment #40 - Posted by: Cesar. at September 15, 2004 5:57 PM

I'm signing up.

Comment #41 - Posted by: Connor at September 15, 2004 6:07 PM

"The 100' journey begins with a single step. . ." which is about as close as I am right now - a single step.

Count me in, 100' it is.

Comment #42 - Posted by: J Jones at September 15, 2004 6:21 PM

I needed a goal to get me to do this handstand stuff. I'm in. Thanks.

Comment #43 - Posted by: Jonathan B. at September 15, 2004 6:35 PM

Sounds like a good time. My neighbors already think I'm strange; why not reinforce their thoughts? :)

Comment #44 - Posted by: Jonathon at September 15, 2004 7:25 PM

I'm in. What's one more reason to have my entire martial arts academy thinking I'm nuts?

Comment #45 - Posted by: Matt A at September 15, 2004 8:02 PM

I'll give it a whirl.

Comment #46 - Posted by: Luke at September 15, 2004 8:16 PM

Put my name in the pot, I need something to push me through the holidays.

Comment #47 - Posted by: Mark A at September 15, 2004 8:36 PM

Used the rest day to work on The Bear. 25 total reps in 20 min.
5x65
5x75
3x85
3x95
3x95
2x105
2x105
1x115
1x115
Finished with L-sit progressions on the dip bars.
Just a thought; I'm in for the 100ft challenge, but are we on the honor system or do we provide photgraphic evidence? Just the lawyer in me!

Comment #48 - Posted by: Ron N. at September 15, 2004 8:39 PM

I'm in on the challange, but new to crossfit. How (to whom) do we prove we can do 100'?

Comment #49 - Posted by: Muni at September 15, 2004 10:13 PM

Nice challenge! Sign me up. Everyone already looks at me funny in the gym..why not keep them wondering...LOL

Comment #50 - Posted by: KevinM at September 16, 2004 11:43 AM

I'm at 15 feet as of today. But, I've been working on it for awhile with such little progress I doubt I'll make 100'. Gonna have to triple my efforts. Count me in.

Comment #51 - Posted by: Rick W at September 16, 2004 4:38 PM

Count me in on the challenge!

Comment #52 - Posted by: Matt McManmon at September 16, 2004 5:25 PM

Count me in, too.

I was going to go for 25', but I'll chase the Press to Handstand + 100.

Currently can't HSW more than a couple of steps without toppling over.

Comment #53 - Posted by: Pat at September 16, 2004 6:18 PM

I am definitely in on this challenge. Sounds like fun! Amaze your friends!

I'm in. Whoo Hoo! Now the whole campus gets to watch me handwalk and crash all over the place....

Comment #58 - Posted by: Court at September 17, 2004 10:24 AM

i'm in for the 100', my pullups got better but i didn't hit my goal

Comment #59 - Posted by: Jason at September 17, 2004 8:37 PM

I used to walk around the perimeter of the High School B'ball Court including turns, made 1.5 times, it was standard stuff for pole vault. That being said I haven't tried lately (the blood pressure gets to my sinuses) but I am pretty confident I can already HS walk >35 yards, even with the extra 50 lbs gained since HS. I never could just plain handstand very long though, what would be a good challenge for a strict hand stand?

Comment #60 - Posted by: jimc at September 17, 2004 10:51 PM

Anyway, count me in on the challenge

Comment #61 - Posted by: Jim C at September 19, 2004 10:54 AM

I'm in for 100'

Comment #62 - Posted by: Dave W at September 19, 2004 11:55 AM

Please sign me up for 100 feet.

This has been my goal since this January when coach put it out there in the CrossFit Journal. I haven't made much progress, maybe 5 feet. Though I wish I had something beside garage cement to land on.

Comment #63 - Posted by: Pappas at September 19, 2004 1:03 PM
