Got up early this morning and spent a couple hours hiking at Devil's Lake. Came home and went to the local park and did 5 rounds of one bar muscleup/5L+5R bodyweight pistols, starting each round on the minute.

I somehow managed two consecutive bar MUs - not a clue how that happened but it was pretty cool.

I just moved to Birmingham, Alabama and was wondering if there were any other crossfiters in this area. If so, any advice on a gym around here would be great. Everything around here is 15,000 square feet of eliptical machines, tanning, and day care. I may have to resort to kettlebells in the backyard. Any help would be much appreciated.

Had some extra energy this afternoon, so after practicing Coach Sommer's chin lockoffs I worked up to a heavy Snatch: 125, up from 105! Still not within sight of bodyweight (165), but a satisfying improvement. 125 wasn't a max, either; I was having some difficulty catching it (shoulder flexibility, technique), but the pull and the squat were going just fine. I decided to leave 135 in the bank, since this wasn't a WOD.

Ok, missed the last 3 WODs, so I decided to do my old traditional bodybuilding workout.

What a freakin' joke it was. It literally felt like a stroll through a park. 3 months ago, I was struggling and tired after the same workout.

After 3 months of xfit, I did this old routine with more weight than I left off, and didn't feel tired at all at the end.

I'm amazed. xfit works.

Thanks Coach and everyone else that contributes to this site. I've subscribed to the journal.
