60 Bwt BPs
73 Ring PUs

Comment #1 - Posted by: Dave K at August 5, 2004 4:31 AM

Bodyweight = 165lbs.

Bench Press - 69 reps
Pullups - 84 reps
20 minutes (about 45 sec. rest between cycles)

I did an upper body workout yesterday, which included a pretty nasty set of DB incline press. Chest was pretty wiped out this morning...

Comment #2 - Posted by: Matt G. at August 5, 2004 4:37 AM

BW = 170

Bench Press - 70 reps
Ring Pullups - 98 reps

Partioned this into 14 sets of 5 BP and 7 PU with a brief rest after PUs.

Comment #3 - Posted by: KevinA at August 5, 2004 5:35 AM

Inspired by Kelly, did "Diane" today. But couldn't approach her time; mine was 16.10. Still a great benchmark workout.

Comment #4 - Posted by: adam at August 5, 2004 6:48 AM

Sub'd ring dips for BP because I don't have a bench. I had to stop and get out of the way for the guys doing yard work at 15:00. By then, I had 40 ring pullups and 35 ring dips. I finished the last 5 minutes with 95 lb bb press and got 15.

Comment #5 - Posted by: Mark G. at August 5, 2004 7:04 AM

Also substituted the rings for the Bench Press managing 112 reps.
Pull ups - 86

finished with 5 rounds of:
10 Burpees
10 1 pood KB swings
10 Kb snatches
60 secs rest

Comment #6 - Posted by: fish at August 5, 2004 7:26 AM

Comment #8 - Posted by: Onur at August 5, 2004 8:25 AM

BW 200
BP 205 x 46
PU 65
Did sets of 5 BP/ 5 PU. Could not maintain 5 reps of BP throughout. PU were easy. Probably should have done sets of 8 - 10 for PU.

Comment #9 - Posted by: Steve M at August 5, 2004 9:03 AM

Bodyweight = 216lbs

Bench Press (185lbs) = 70 reps
Pull-ups = 66

Nice job, fish!Looks brutal.

Comment #11 - Posted by: Matt Toupalik at August 5, 2004 9:19 AM

BW 200#. Used 205 for the BP reps.

43 BP reps.
81 pull-ups.

Many sets, with minimal reps per. Didn't rest. May try more rest next time and attempt more reps per cycle.

Finished with 2x50 BW squats and 200 abs.

Thompson

Comment #12 - Posted by: Thompson at August 5, 2004 9:45 AM

Started out with sets of 5 BPs and 7 PUs. Both numbers diminished (BP faster than PU). Last sets were 1 BP and 4 PU. Did dead hangs for this workout. 'Small' discrepancy between pushing and pulling movements on this one. Maybe I should have done ring dips?

76 pull-ups
28 bench press

Comment #13 - Posted by: Ryan Atkins at August 5, 2004 10:16 AM

BW 175#

21 BP
104 pullups

Bench weak but improving. 1st attempt at BW bench in many years, started with doubles but quickly went to singles.

Comment #14 - Posted by: steve h at August 5, 2004 10:21 AM

45 bench press @ 100 lbs
36 pullups, a new pr

I tried to stay at sets of 3 reps. Pullups went away but still got a PR!

Comment #15 - Posted by: Dean S. at August 5, 2004 10:28 AM

85 BP's, 105 pullups, Bodyweight 150; started with sets of 10 on the bench and then went to 7+3 and started with 2 sets of 15 on the pus and then went to sets of 10 with no breaks on the pus and got 15 on the last round.Learned from our last similar workout to use some pacing and not burnout on one effort to the detriment of the other exercise.

Comment #16 - Posted by: Ed at August 5, 2004 10:59 AM

42 bp @ 100 pounds
31 pull-ups

Comment #17 - Posted by: Sam L at August 5, 2004 11:04 AM

Comment #20 - Posted by: Shelly at August 5, 2004 11:43 AM

How many reps in 20 minutes of:
Bench press 165# (87% bwt of 190#)= 46reps
Pull-ups= 101reps

Got to do this WOD on our new BFS heavy duty super cage at our company gym! The 8.5ft pullup bar is great - rings going up on it soon for dips, ect...

Ended the bench still doing sets of 3, don't think I could have gone the whole 20min with bwt. Pullups were in sets of 10 thru 50 and then 7,3 with brief regrips each round.

Ended with 50 body squats and 50 unanchored sit-ups.

Comment #21 - Posted by: jdg at August 5, 2004 12:26 PM

I used 115 lbs for the bench press.

Sets 1 - 5: 4 pull ups / 5 bench press movements

I also did 3 sets of overhead press, 3 sets of crunches, and 8 minutes of the step mill machine.

Comment #29 - Posted by: Lynne Pitts at August 5, 2004 5:20 PM

Great Job Lynne! How did you partition the sets, reps rests and did you have a pacing scheme?

Comment #30 - Posted by: Ed Velasco at August 5, 2004 6:12 PM

Afetr a week in Santa Barbara climbing tree's, my weight is around 165lbs; therefore,

Bench = 60
Pull up= 103

Nothing beats climbing a 120' Eucalyptus along the coast on a foggy morning, well, maybe climbing in the Grand Canyon!

Comment #31 - Posted by: sean at August 5, 2004 6:56 PM

Didn't have access to bench press, so subbed pushups instead. I alternated max sets of each exercise, and totaled the numbers at the end.

pushups = 109
pullups = 38

Comment #32 - Posted by: Q at August 5, 2004 8:08 PM

100 pull-ups
35 reps bench
175 bodyweight

My pressing ability as a lot of room for improvement, obviously.

Comment #33 - Posted by: Pappas at August 5, 2004 8:58 PM

BWT - 180

Used 185 lbs for bench.

Bench - 57
Pull-up - 85

Fun workout

Comment #34 - Posted by: chad stclair at August 5, 2004 9:08 PM

John, Bwt=190lbs, bp=50 of 195 lbs, pull ups=56
Did a ladder of aprox 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3 and ran out of time and energy.

Chris can't do body weight bench or many regular pull-ups. He did bp 67 of 55lbs, pull downs 67 of 90 lbs.

Great numbers Lynne!

Comment #35 - Posted by: John at August 5, 2004 9:27 PM

BW 190#s

Never been able to bench my bw.

27 reps at 145#s
27 p/u

Comment #36 - Posted by: J Jones at August 5, 2004 10:18 PM

Ed, I did 5/5 on the minute; got a bit ahead of the pace so managed to get 21 sets. I threw in a set of 6 early on, thinking I might try to keep that up, but decided that would be risky. Last set only got 4 on the bench; could have gotten the 5th but it would have cost me time I needed for the last set of pullups.

I also considered doing a max set of each first, and then hitting 3/3 or so, but went the conservative route.

Thanks John!

Comment #37 - Posted by: Lynne Pitts at August 6, 2004 12:38 AM

No bench so did push ups with a pack weighted with 10kg instead. Did it as a downwards ladder going ten push ups/ten pull ups then nine/nine eight/eight down to zero. Just finished within the 20 mins. My maths is not good enough to work out my totals.

If anyone else hasn't got a bench I recommend push ups with a weighted backpack instead.

Comment #38 - Posted by: RDC at August 6, 2004 1:10 AM

Not even close to my bw (189).

Comment #39 - Posted by: Don Woodson at August 6, 2004 4:16 AM

Lynne, thanks for the info. I think I'll try your lower rep scheme next time we visit this particular WOD.

Comment #40 - Posted by: Ed Velasco at August 6, 2004 4:54 AM

Comment #43 - Posted by: Clint Hull at August 6, 2004 8:03 AM

Never been big on the bp. Did this late last night with about 5 people in the gym (scared a couple of them off when they saw I was going non-stop). BW-205
BP 155# (76%)- 45 reps
PU unassisted- 50 reps
Good wod for me as these are my weakest areas.
Rotated sets of 5 until time ran out. Next time I'm taking a spotter to go heavier on the BP!

Comment #44 - Posted by: Ron N. at August 6, 2004 10:57 AM

BW=230
Bench= 71 @ 230
Pulups= 91
Broke into 5 and 5's then tapered of to 2 bench three P/U's. Kept rest in between down to less than 15 sec. in the beg. then towards the end less than 5 sec. to compinsate for the lower reps

Comment #45 - Posted by: Eddie at August 6, 2004 10:58 AM

Comment #46 - Posted by: Stephen at August 6, 2004 11:30 AM

Been doing WOD for 3 wks - first post.

BW = 145
Bench = 98
Pullups = 99

So wanted to join the "century club" but not this time.

Used Lynne's strategy 5/5 but last few were 3+2 on BP and 4+1 on PU.

Are there any Crossfit affiliates up here in Canada?

Comment #47 - Posted by: Leo Tang at August 6, 2004 11:34 AM

First WOD since coming back from the colored pencil workshop this week. I tried Lynne's strategy of 5/5, but my bench is weaker than Lynne's:

8 rounds 5B/5P
10 rounds 3/5
8 rounds 3/6

Bench 115#, bwt 116# (lost a couple pounds during vacation)

Total: 94 benches/138 pullups

a 1 minute break halfway through helped me get back to 5 chin-ups.
