Inspired and humbled by Steve h and Rajesh's rows yesterday... glaring differences (beside the overall times) were the s/m and therefore the ave. watts/stroke so I did a work-out to hopefully begin to improve and get used to that explosiveness:
3x 500m with 1 min rest b/w pieces

I kept the ave. pace @ 1:50 (3 sec. better than ave pace from yesterday's 5K) while keeping the strokes/min to 24.5 (4.5s/m fewer than my ave for the 5K)
Ave. watts/stroke increased to 265 from yesterday's ~240
Now just need to string 10 of those together with no rest... ;)

Working an unexpected 14 1/2 hour shift today. On the happy side, my new 44# kb was waiting in dispatch for me. I couldn't help myself, I had to try military presses and pistols. Much to my surprise, I found I can do multiple strict presses with both arms and multiple dead stop pistols with both legs. Interesting as I can't budge the 52# bell off either shoulder and I can only do a few pistols with the right leg and zero with the left at that weight.

After the trial run, I've been doing a press and a pistol per side every hour and will continue until the end of my shift. (It's pretty quiet now that the students have left). The officers hardly notice anymore; it's just crazy Kelly doing strange lifts again!

I meant to take a relaxing hike and rock climb today. I ended up getting lost and taking a two and a half hour excursion up one side of a mountain and down the other. I never did find the rock climb.

My niece had her birthday party at the local YMCA. They had some gymnastics stuff available so I got to play with the kids. Did some rope climbing, L-pull ups, hip pull-overs, and front tuck singles off a spring board. Tried a baroni, but my knee immediately let me know that it's not ready for that kind of take-off torque yet. I also tried getting a kip on the high bar a couple of times but no joy.

Rest day = muscleup day! Finally got the muscleup - woo hoo! Did about 20 of them throughout the day, and I have the raw and bruised wrists to prove it In between were hspu from the parallettes and straddle planche attempts.

Lynne,
Congratulations on the muscle-ups! That is really exciting. I'll add you to the Muscle-up Club right away.

Lynne,

I knew you could do it! Congratulations! I guess that means I don't have to pack my long johns for the visit as you can do MUs ... But I will be packing several pair of larger jeans as that 5# tub of power butter is waiting ... :)
